Automated enforcement?
Our streets are experiencing a rise of serious injuries and fatalities. As the Boston Globe recently reported, all traffic deaths in 2017 are up 46% over the same period of 2013. This unacceptable trend affects people walking, biking, and driving. Drivers who are distracted by texting and apps are a major cause of crashes. An Act to reduce traffic fatalities (Senate Bill 1905 / House Bill 2877) is intended to make our roads safer in the face of troubling trends. Drafted with broad input, it has 85 cosponsors led by Senator Will Brownsberger and Representatives Jon Hecht and David Rogers. Recognizing that cities and towns need tools to enforce traffic rules, the legislation allows use of automated road safety cameras to enforce speeding, red-light, and school bus stop sign violations. While Massachusetts does not currently enable this, 29 states have some form of camera enforcement and it is common in other countries. Research shows automated cameras are effective. In Montgomery County, Maryland, streets with speed cameras experienced a 39% reduction in fatal and serious injuries. A University of North Carolina Highway Research Center study found installation of red-light cameras can contribute to a slight rise in rear-end crashes, but almost always leads to significant reductions in typically more severe side-impact crashes. The National Transportation Safety Board has endorsed automated enforcement as an effective way to reduce speed and crashes. With the right regulations, automated enforcement can be a highly effective safety tool, and one that doesn’t increase traffic stops—a concern by many in a time of increased racial profiling, and immigration issues. The language In this bill is designed to ensure the best system of enforcement: • Location of cameras would be based on safety benefits, not targeting any population or neighborhood. Cameras would be at high-crash locations where other interventions such as road redesign are not feasible. • It would not be a money grab. The best cameras act as deterrents and not to trick people into fines—few violations are a sign of success. The bill directs the majority of revenues into road improvements, not general funds. Cameras would be well-marked. Revenue-sharing with private camera installation or operating companies would be prohibited, avoiding inappropriate incentives. • Photographs would be of rear license plates, no faces or identifying information, and only if a violation has occurred. Photos would be permanently deleted after ruling. Fines, assessed to the owner of the vehicle, would not exceed $50, won’t increase with additional violations, nor add to insurance points. Law enforcement would need a court-approved warrant to access photos for purposes beyond traffic enforcement. • There would be state oversight, an appeals process, and common-sense emergency exemptions. Members of the Arizona State Legislature are seeking to pass legislation that would use the constitutional principle of nullification to end abortion in their state. House Bill 2877 (H.B. 2877), aptly titled the “Roe v. Wade Is Unconstitutional Act,” is sponsored by… The New American

First, some dots to connect:
The National Flood Insurance Act provides insurance subsidies for the owners of property considered high-risk for floods and flooding.
Much coastal property in the United States is at an increased risk of floods and flooding as a direct result of climate change.
Recent federal studies “have all projected an increase in heavy downpours and sea-level rise in the United States as a result of climate change.”
In fact, rising sea levels are projected to cover land currently occupied by 600 million people globally.
Donald Trump rejects climate change and climate science.
Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Accord.
Trump also appointed fellow climate-change deniers to powerful government posts, such as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Donald Trump owns coastal properties in the United States--such as Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Trump Towers in the Miami area and in Waikiki, the Trump National Doral golf course, and others--that are considered high-risk for floods and flooding. Trump has obtained flood insurance subsidies for them through the National Flood Insurance Act.
Although Donald Trump is busily slashing the budgets of government services left and right, he just extended the National Flood Insurance Act.
A couple of Democrats in the House of Representatives, understandably irritated at the foregoing, have introduced the “Prohibiting Aid for Recipients Ignoring Science Act of 2017.” The proposed law does just one thing: excludes from the benefits of the National Flood Insurance Act “Any property that is owned or operated by the President or a relative ... of the President.”
It won’t pass, of course.

Main Home Launcher
Booting Android to the “home screen” takes about 00:33.4 seconds (very good result). “Home screen” launcher T95 looks very simple, easy to use and familiar. In addition to the remote control, I used a standard keyboard and mouse, MINIX A2 Lite. Unfortunately, I could not use my favorite Xiaomi gamepad because Sunvell T95 does not have Bluetooth.
Operating system and components
The MuviBox T95 runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop, namely version 5.1.1 and the Linux Kernel version 3.14.29. Unfortunately installed firmware (build number LMY47V.20151123 test-keys) on the unit we received had the incompatibility problem, we turned to “own sources” of the latest firmware T95-1G1230 (build number LMY47V.20151218 test-keys). In spite of installation of a new firmware problem has not been fully resolved and some apps on Google Play showed information about incompatibility (like Antutu3D Bench)

The Governmnet Is Coming For Your Cars
This is not fake news. The kind folks in Oregon have proposed House Bill 2877 that would impose a $1000 tax collected every five years for cars 20 years old and older, not licensed as antique vehicles under Oregon statute 805.010. The wording is clunky, as is the bill itself, which has led to some confusion about the amount and frequency of the tax, but the way we see it you’ll pay $200 per year per car you own that is 20 years old or older unless it’s already registered as an antique car. To title your car as an antique car will cost you $77, and registration would be $43 a year. So you pay an additional $200 a year not to register it as an antique car, or you pay an additional $77 to change the title and registration. It may seem benign but it’s a dangerous president for three reasons. First, it’s a money grab for those deemed able to afford collectible cars; second, it puts you neatly into a category that the state can instantly access further arbitrary taxes and/or limitations to how you use your antique car and; three, it creates a model for other states looking for ways to generate extra taxes on the backs of old car owners.
