There’s sadly not much info or English info online about this character then what the Hello Kitty Wiki says, nothing about the creator or who draws the art,

Messing around with Mt. Oe oni gang designs.

I'm doing whatever I want with these, but I did look back to see who actually made appearances in Heian-Kyo.

Kintoki mentions all four in dialogue, but Torakuma and Hoshikuma are the only ones with battle sprites (Danzo calls them "similar" though they're the exact same sprite).

Torakuma looking tiger-like is fitting... but Hoshikuma should probably look different. She's got star motifs in her hair but I also went ahead and based her on a Great Tsuchigumo for variety.

Shuten mentions it's fortunate that Ibaraki didn't wake up Kuma and Kanekuma, so it stands to reason they didn't make an appearance at any point. They're a bear and an iron bear respectively. Not rocket science, I know.

but this is the first I've heard of ibuki-douji

Ibuki-douji is another name for Shuten-douji! For years, people argued that Suika wasn't Shuten/Ibuki-douji and just had a number of obvious parallels despite her name being quite literally Ibuki Suika. Primarily due to the fact that it wasn't explicitly confirmed.

Of course she is inspired by Ibaraki-dōji, in touhou canon she IS Ibaraki-dōji, 3 of important oni in touhou are members of Four Heavenly Kings

Suika Ibuki - Shuten-dōji

Yuugi Hoshiguma - Hoshikuma-dōji

Kasen Ibaraki - Ibaraki-dōji

There also Zanmu Nippaku and even though she is an oni, she is not based on any members of Heavenly Kings, instead she is based on Zanmu Nichihaku, a monk from Sengoku era

How do you create an OC? What are your steps for developing an OC?

Well, it can depend what you want to do.

Sometimes for me, a character will come to mind easily based on a simple concept that I enjoy and may want to expand on, even if I have no immediate plans or place to RP them at the time I create them, hence why you see these unrelated characters pop-up here when my main deal is RWBY.

Like Silk Spinnerette, her default monster-girl form was spurned from the comedic idea of what if there was a spider monster-girl who was ironically afraid of spiders, and that was it, if I could draw, I'd have art to go with just so I don't have to rely on explanations should someone be doing requests as I'm not in a place where I can commission people when I would like to.

Though adoring the character that much and since they could work easily, I've also made a Mega Man robot version, Silk Woman, and the "not-but-totally-is-a-Spidersona" version of her (despite a joke for Silk being she doesn't know of or acknowledge Spiderman as a thing) since she could be easily adapted like that, but it won't work for everyone you make either.

For RWBY and/or Mythril, with how characters are based on those from fiction, such as fairy tales, mythologies, legends, and nursery rhymes, making an OC to fit there can be fun but also challenging depending on who you decide to make someone from.

With the Hanamori family, who are based on Shuten, Ibaraki, Hoshikuma, and Torakuma Douji of Japanese mythology, I went the way of modern day Yakuza clan as I found that angle for them interesting to do, plus, some inspiration was taken from different movie tellings of the Kray Twins life story, so I had that in mind too, much as the Krays were London gangsters and nothing to do with Yakuza of Japan.

In some cases though, unless you really search around or base some details on those from other adaptations of that story, some will give you have a bit more freedom to just do your own thing, whether it helps or not because you want to have homaging elements varies on how you see that.

My main example for that is Gwyn Auburn, her basis of Guinevere didn't have much to pull from from the many pages about the cast of Arthurian legend aside from her story about her love with Lancelot whilst still being with Arthur, while I gave the twist that she was with the Lancelot character before getting with Arthur, it still left little to work with, so I decided she was trained fighter, after all, she's her own character, not the actual Guinevere.

Also, if you are doing them for RWBY, don't be embarrassed or upset if you make someone who shares a basis with someone in the cast, practically most everyone has had their own take on a Robin Hood character before the show gave us Robyn Hill, it's how I ended up with Petra Mint, as she was my take on a Peter Pan character while the show already had David Scarlet.

She was told this was Yuugi's favorite bar. And at least as far as the person she talked to knew, that had to be true - they were an oni, after all. Oni don't lie, not even her. So when Udeki approached the place and peeked inside, she was hoping to immediately see that familiar mess of blonde hair. Udeki didn't catch sight of it immediately... still, that didn't necessarily mean Yuugi wasn't here. She couldn't see the whole bar, after all.

"Hoshikuma-douji-san!" she'd call out, using the old style of her name that she was more familiar with. "Are you in here? Or do I need to keep looking?" It wasn't the last place she could think of to try, but she was hoping.

The big notable change to this one since it was first posted is that Suika was per Lotus Eaters (and Miyoi) confirmed to be Shuten-douji (and thus, Yuugi as Hoshikuma-douji). Hecatia's also one I'd put in the "Probably Is This Character" category rather than "Inspired By This Character". That's it though!
