Ever wonder what happens to those final girls? After all their plans go belly up and all their weapons fail? After their defenses crumble and they've been shot in the head? After they've trusted the wrong people, made the wrong choices, and opened themselves up at the worst possible moments? After their lives are ruined and they're left at thirty-eight years old with nothing in the bank, no kids, no lover, and nothing to their name but a couple of ghosts and a handful of broken-down friends? I know what happens to those girls. They turn into women. And they live.

final girl
when the rest of the world is lost in drought,
her tears will sow the fields of new beginnings
for in this last chapter, she is eve
tearing the fangs from the snake of adam’s pride,
and using them to stab through his eyes
the end of the world is brought by man,
but the end of men is happily brought by her
a full restart requires one survivor,
and she has always been the final girl

What Horror Trope Are You?
Thanks for the tag @thehubb !
The Killer
Was there ever a choice? Maybe, but that fork in the road is far, far behind you. You surround yourself now with sharp things, tools to harm, and they have become your only family. You are the thing that goes bump in the night, and you hunt for scurrying mice like a hungry cat. Maybe, just maybe, though, one can finally put an end to your hunt and allow you to finally rest.

The Final Girl
"congrats, you're the one who makes it to the end. your instincts, paranoia, and/or pure fucking stubbornness guide you every bloody step of the way. when the dawn finally breaks, you're the last one left standing. sure, it cost you friends and loved ones and you're going to have one hell of a therapy bill, but at least you're alive."

Remember: You Are Prey
[In mythology the ancient and wild Gods were recast] in a more bloodless and pro-human-society light. I’d argue that this parallels a major shift in how popular storytelling has changed the story of the vampire: increasingly humanising them and showing them working inside of human society and its rules, instead of being a destructive force that hurts us.
How many vampire stories now feature characters who only target the evildoer? Who channel their monstrous natures in ways that benefit humans? Who are inspiring and even loveable to humans?
I’d say too many. We neutered horror in our story telling. Pulled its fangs or worse, made those fangs sexy. Something about the way this incarnation of Interview With the Vampire is unfolding suggests that this has been our mistake. They aim to remind us not simply of our empathy and love for the monstrous, but of our fear of it.
The trial, too, is a recurring feature in stories where humans grapple with the supernatural and horrific. It’s an overlay of human reason, fairness, judgement and control, human morality, on the random, cruel and violent nature of forces previously believed beyond our sphere of influence, outside of prayer, sacrifice and ordeal. The trial is our triumph of reason over the terror of millennia of Gods and Monsters. Of our ability to protect ourselves, we who were once merely another prey animal.
Trials are so modern and so human, even when the trial itself is a sham or when the punishment is barbaric, the fact that a trial exists at all is narrative evidence that humans have some control over their world. But Interview With the Vampire is a horror story and I think it’s going to pose the question of whether humans can actually hold the horrors at bay, especially when we’ve recast our old supernatural foes as romantic heroes in our new mythology.
This criticism of the audience is of the audience in the theatre for The Trial, yes. But also of us viewers, and even of the people making the show. We’re all complicit because we all enjoy telling stories this way. We’ve trapped ourselves here, come willing to our doom and doomed others along the way.
((This is from a more detailed post, one of two on Francis Bacon and the Greek Furies, hence the abrupt beginning, apologies.))

"I hope it's okay," Marilyn says. "Fine," I say, and it's embarrassing that I'm talking to not even a plant but a picture of a plant on someone else's phone, but I can't help myself. "Look at you. You're growing up. And you're surrounded by so many sexy ferns." Huge, primordial ferns rise from the ground around him. "He was all cooped up in that pot," Marilyn says. "There was no room for him to grow. I mean, his poor little roots were traumatized. I hope I did all right." Fine won't be coming with me anymore. He won't sit on his perch and watch TV with me ever again. He isn't mine anymore. "It's great," I tell Marilyn. "It's perfect. I think I was holding him back." "There's a lovely pepper bush in there waiting to come out," Marilyn says. "He's going to just grow and grow. Next time you see him, I bet you won't even recognize the little guy." You see, I tell Fine inside my head. You're going to be better than ever. "And now you've got an excuse," Marilyn says. "For what?" "To come visit," she says.

What horror trope are you?
The Monster
It was not your fault– at first, at least. you can not help being the way you are. and even if you could, would you choose to change? they met you with torches raised and screaming mouths, the only choice you had was to flee. but you will not stay away forever. they whisper your name in fear, and you will make sure you hurt them just as much as they hurt you.

I feel like most people actually know how bad they could be. Or if they hadn't thought about it, all they really need to do is take a couple minutes and think about it.
The harm of an evil clone is that they are actually they bad.
You get angry and you think about saying or doing something awful to someone you love or acting out some road rage or hurting yourself or any number of other things. But you can hold yourself back. You've grown and lived in this world long enough to realize on some level that any harm you do to someone else will be paid back to you and it will hurt everyone and no one really deserves that.
The evil clone isn't even angry. It was cloned, it doesn't have that life experience. But it also looks and sounds and even acts (for the most part) just like you. And so when someone meets that evil clone they see you. They see you, and your clone does what you stop yourself from doing when you're angry. And the clone does it with a smile. And no one else sees the clone. They just see you. The version of you on your worst day in your worst moment doing every dark thing that's ever crept into your mind. It breaks every social code and throws away every kindness and lashes out in every choice it makes. And it does it for the whole world to see.
The horror isn't that the clone does it. It's that everyone else thinks that you did.
people always talk about evil clones like oooh a dark mirror oohh what if you saw what a cruel person you were/are capable of becoming. and well yes but what if you were the evil clone. what if you looked in the mirror and what you saw was so bright it blinded you. what if you had to know exactly how good you could have been.

Favourite and least favourite horror trope?
Well the least one is easy: how dumb people seem to be in these movies. “Let’s split up” No. No let’s not. I mean, c’mon, guys. That’s why I like horror movies that go up against the smart guys. They seem to give a challenge and raise the stakes and make it more fun.
My favorite trope is when the physical space slightly changes, and the audience suddenly knows trouble is brewing and the victim remains totally unaware. Or like we see the killer lurk in the blurry background for a split second. Love it. I could watch that stuff all day.
