You can also take normal expressions that have certain words that sound like animal species! Take my oc as an example (Sir Bat-An-Eye.)

COLORS-

IF you are basing your little critter on a real animal, you could think, “Man, how do i make this little guy look more Smiling Critter-ish?”

COLORS!!

Take Bubba for example,

He is an elephant! Elephants aren’t a bright blinding blue! Yet in a lot of cartoons they are represented this way because it is way more colorful! Sure to attract kids.

If it is an actual animal, search for some cartoon references of them! Maybe that can help!

Saturate the colors A LOT. Do you think kiddies would like an old, rusty, sad-beige-mom animal in their show??!?! Well- maybe…..🤔

But thats not the point! Make them bright! Make them pop!

Also, don’t always base them off of the animals ACTUAL colors! Give them different colors! If you want to make your alligator oc red because he lives in the depths of an erupting volcano then go ahead! If you want your parrot oc to be THE COLOR OF THE FUCKING RAINBOW then go ahead!! Who says they have to be the normal colors? Not me!

PERSONALITY AND ANIMAL CHOOSING-

Sooo… if you wanna be very picky like me.. then choose animals by how they would act in a society!

A hyena wouldn’t be nice! They would make fun of people, they would be rude!

A gazelle would be shy! They wouldn’t get their kicks from fighting!

That kinda what i mean🤔

If you want an elegant Critter, look for animals that often represent elegance, like peacocks!!

WHAT THEY DO.

What would they do if they were caretakers in PlayCare? A therapist? A janitor? What do they teach? Think about that and maybe that will help you with their necklaces!!

So I think we have all seen those posts going around that were talking about some users sorting AO3 by hits and kudos and using ratio to determine if the fic is "worth" (yucky wording ngl) reading. Once again I'm glad that I saw pretty much all of the people around me agreeing that this modus operandi is... suboptimal to say the least, for reasons I don't need to rehash in this post.

I've now gone one step further and disabled stats on AO3 altogether so I don't have to worry about anyone's "performance" or "popularity" and can let the fics speak for themselves.

If you'd like to do the same or are bothered by the numbers for other reasons, be it sensory overload due to too much stuff on your screen, feeling down because your fics don't get as much attention or whatever else (these are all very valid and understandable reasons btw!), here's a link to the script. OP also provided a guide with screenshots showing exactly how to set it up and which part of the code to delete if you want your inbox to remain visible.

comics to start with: as much as it pains me, Frank Miller is where you start with daredevil. his run is what lay the bases to a lot of what came next... the next big run was Brian Michael Bendis', which I hear people really enjoy as their first daredevil comic, but I feel you'd miss a lot of character context from Frank miller's run at least. that would give you a good head start, if you finish those (it's a lot of issues) you can come back!

unhelpful tips and resources for gifs&gfxs

Hi everyone, I don’t know how useful this post will be but I wanted to share some of the things I learned through the years of creating content for tumblr and also new information I find every now and then. I see lot of new people who start creating content here and I want to help with what I know.

Note: I won’t upload any tutorial of mine or anything because I believe the resources I will link here will be more useful than just a tutorial that I won’t be able to explain well because English is not my first language. Let’s start!

First of all, few words about tumblr and how it works. Tumblr is a site with many communities. Every user has its own blog that can post many kinds of content, including a text,photo,video,audio,art etc. When you first join the site it might be overwhelming but in reality, it is not (*whispers* I personally find instagram harder to understand how it works). 

Like every site tumblr has its own search bar, tags, likes, reblogs(share on fb,rt on twitter),and follows. When you search a blog to follow and you see their posts you can like their post by tapping on the heart and share(reblog) by clicking on the two arrows button that looks like the recycle icon. 

What does reblog mean and do? 

Reblog is as we said the “share the post” of facebook, with reblog you don’t repost someone’s content but you share it with your followers and help it to be seen bymore people that way you actually help the creator to promote their creations. 

Likes

Unlike, instagram,twitter and facebook, when you like something the website doesn’t recommend the post to your followers unless they go to your blog via their phone and go to your likes page, if you have it unlocked, so basically, likes don’t help with supporting creators as much as reblog does. 

Tags

Tagging system on tumblr, in my opinion, is pretty fun both for the op of a post and for the reblogger. With tagging you can organize all the posts on your blog by anything you like. For example, if you tag artworks as #art and you want to find a certain artwork you reblogged a time ago you can just go to the tag and find it. 

For op you can use tags the same way as other sites to promote your work, as I remember the first 5 tags will be shown on the general tag like if you search on tumblr #artwork and you have the tag #artwork on the first 5 it will be shown there.. but I am not sure if this changed.

Creating a post 

As you can see from your dashboard(timeline on twitter) you have the option to create a text form post, a photo form post.. etc. You can experiment with all of these, don’t be afraid. I will focus on photo form posts because we will talk about gifs and gfxs.

The photo form(with the camera icon) post, is what most content creators use to post their creations like designs/graphics,art/fanart/photography, and gifs.

The site allows you to post 10 photos(if you want to post more I think Text form allows more). 

The size of your photos and gifs must be under 20mb for photos and under 10mb for gifs. 

As for dimension, tumblr has its own dimension but you can always post whichever you want, the bad thing is that the quality will be reduced on the dashboard and the viewer will have to click on every single photo in order to see the original quality. Here are the dimensions:

For a single photo/gif per columna it is 540px horizonatally

For 2 photos/gifs per columna it is 268px x 268px

For 3 photos/gifs per columna it is 177px x 178px x 177px (be careful the middle one always has to be 178px)

Themes

When you feel comfortable with using tumblr, you can customize your blog with beautiful themes that talented people have shared here!

In this part, I will provide links and tutorials for gifs and graphics, But first of all you need a program for content creation. The most common one is Photoshop, you can buy a subscription from Adobe(it is expensive) or you can find crack version on the internet.  

Chaoticresource has a whole tag for photoshop and many more programs for you to start with photoshop. Not only that they have a whole list of resources for both giffing and graphic making. You can find their tag list with everything you need to here.

Here:

E stands for energy.

m stands for mass.

c stands for the speed of light in a vacuum, which is about ( 2.99 × 10⁸) meters per second.

In simple terms, the equation shows that mass (m) and energy (E) are two forms of the same thing and can be converted into each other. The speed of light squared (( c^2 )) is a very large number, which means a small amount of mass can be converted into a very large amount of energy.

Am I crazy that spoonies in the workforce are being penalized for having chronic illnesses? I work in healthcare, and show up near every day. The days I miss I have an FMLA form for. There are some days I have to go home early because I have seizures. SEIZURES. Now my work is threatening to terminate me based on I can’t stay at work when these symptoms arise.

I work hard. I like my job. I go above and beyond to help people, and my work knows this. But there’s no way to translate that into ‘I’m a valuable employee that doesn’t deserve to be fired because my LITERAL BRAIN is against me!’

My finance says I’m defeatist because I don’t see any hope. If I lose this job we lose our only income. We’re up shit creek.

I need hope. Any ideas on how to force hope to happen? Or faith that everything will be ok?

You're absolutely 1000000% right. And I wish it weren't so.

Before I was let go by my dream job (as I was lying in a hospital, trying to survive the H1N1 virus), I was ostracized and threatened too. With all the documentation I had, it still didn't stop them. They found a loophole bc I didn't call out (I was unconscious and my mother called to tell them that), but bc it wasn't ME on the phone, they took it as a no-call, no-show.

Your job probably wants you to quit, so they aren't faced with a lawsuit. That's why they're making it hard on you. Don't let them win. If you have documentation, got approved for FMLA, etc, just keep doing you and don't let them intimidate you. If you do get let go, find an attorney immediately (most won't get paid unless you win the case, so that's something). But you have to fight to win.

Also, document EVERYTHING they say or do to you, so if you have to find an attorney, they'll know where to start.

Remember, you have a right to exist and to work if you can. They do not have the right to let you go bc you're sick. That's discrimination. (Throw that word around a couple times, they'll probably stop.)

I think buddie wasn't in the plans of fox like romance (so before season 7). As for now, I think they consider this, to make them canon romance, but would go for it only if we will have season 9 and 10. To make it really good slow burn. Because they really need at least end this season(and knowing Eddie's arcs I suspect it will happen only in season 8) with Eddie getting through his catholic guilt. And I don't see for now reasons for Tommy not stay for season 8 to be really serious with Buck. There's big possibility of it. And as I already said it somewhere, if season 8(or possibly even season 9) the last one I can see writers, Tim and abc making Buck's endgame with Tommy so he will be ending show in good serious relationships he always craved. If season 8/9 is the last one(especially 8), I really see narratively bucktommy makes more sense especially for ga, who don't ship buddie and is ok with bucktommy, and with all growing bucktommy shippers amount. Also with really interesting interviews of Lou and Tim implying Tommy can stay for really long time and with 911abc ig official account following Lou just some days ago(but not Mar's actress), I suspect they want him in season 8 at least

Tim said that they want to make good story, not try to make story which doesn't go good, so if Buddie is in the possible cards, they wouldn't rush it

If we have season 9, at least, and even season 10, then I can see Buck and Tommy break up somewhere in season 8 (😭😭😭 most likely after half a season when we will def know about if it will be the last season or not) then I can see season 9 being pre-buddie where they are having oh moments and mutual pining and season 9 ending with them going canon. And then season 10 is them making relationships work. Then if we have more seasons they most likely stay together

here for questions as it was invited by your post, and thank you because this topic is important to me i want to focus this on addiction but i want to admit that as a full grown adult who went to collage for psychology, worked in special needs and nursing homes so has seen a wide array of neurodivergencies in very intimate and real ways, AND as someone who has adhd and is partners with someone who was a higher needs autistic in their school days- i feel like i dont fully understand the strict differences between terms like i want to and the grey area really dose make my head spin often but in regards to addiction and how i experience it differently because in a way i feel an almost "immunity" with how my executive dysfunction can translate to "not able to maintain a pattern regardless if it is a constructive habit or addiction" watching my father struggle with alcoholism and it really takeing its always sunny to wake up to the fact that he even was one, i really want to understand what it means to be addicted better is it defined by its sunk cost? emotional emptiness? the damage done outward to others? or is it just the pattern. the way that i experience a hyper fixation with my adhd feels distinctive enough to prove that i can differentiate the two concepts per the entire point of your post, and then there are just paradigm shifts like how the only thing ive been accused of being addicted to has been "the computer" 20 years ago when we still had dial up. but ive been a strong advocate to how web designs especially for cell phones play into addictive tendencies with the biggest being short form content with the slot machine endless scroll feature. so the dangers TRUE addiction poses a unique threat in the attention economy functions today with tec and also how easy it is to get trapped in a social bubble making traditionally understood as addictive substances form even more tight knit communities to enable people and never realize they could be helped. its a problem i want to be vigilant of in myself and always help those i love through where it comes so i hope this message wasnt too long or overbearing i just am glad to see someone who knows firsthand about it who might be willing to talk more about it for education.

addiction is a complicated and multi-faceted issue. it’s not just the frequency of substance use and it’s not just the impact to life, it’s a lot of different things all at once. addiction tends to be broken into three parts: physical dependency, emotional dependency, and impact on life

physical dependency is your body becoming reliant on the substance. this looks like physical withdrawal symptoms (e.g. the shakes, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, etc)

emotional dependency is the result of extended use of a substance as a coping mechanism. this means that anything the substance was helping to cope with is going to come up in full force (along with added anxiety and anger from not having access to the substance)

impact to life really depends on the person, but this is all the external influences of addiction. struggling with employment, struggling with relationships, struggling to look after yourself and others, etc

all of these things will look different for different people and different substances. I am always wary of people trying to apply an addiction framework to non-substance use addictions. evidence around behavioural addictions is sketchy at best, and just do not have many of the features of addiction that I’ve struggled with the most

out of everything, the mechanisms of addiction are most similar to OCD, but with the additional challenges of physical dependency. for those who don’t know, the obsessive compulsive cycle is:

trigger

intrusive thought

obsessive thinking

compulsive behaviour

it’s a cycle because the more you do the compulsive behaviour, the harder it becomes to cope with that initial trigger in a healthy way. and that’s kinda how addiction functions, too. it just so happens that the compulsive behaviour is substance use. and that’s just not how other behavioural addictions tend to play out

beyond that, we have to consider the ways the word “addiction” is used politically. addiction is heavily stigmatised. addict is seen as a pejorative term, rather than a descriptive one. so even if you could say that phone use is similar in some way to substance abuse….. calling someone an addict for using their phone a lot comes with a lot of baggage and a lot of implications I am deeply uncomfortable with

the terms “phone addict” or “addictive technology” are not literal phrases, they’re metaphors. technology is being compared to substances, and use of that technology is being compared to addiction. and I think everyone needs to have a deep think about why it is that those comparisons are used. until addiction stops being demonised, it is not useful or helpful to be applying an addiction framework to situations where it doesn’t 100% make sense

How do you find drawing ideas? Whenever I pick up pen everything in my brain just go away. Do you have any advice?

Most drawing ideas I have are generally inspired by real life stuff, comics, movies and anything really! Personally mine comes from the first two :)

In terms of how I stick to the ideas itself depends, sometimes when I have an idea I draw it out immediately while it’s still fresh in my head— it will have two outcomes: I like it (then I’ll continue it) or I don’t like it (then I either redo and scrap)

When you write down your ideas, it helps to sort of visualize what you’re trying to convey, sometimes just drawing a quick scribble helps too! It also helps because sometimes idea sounds better in the head and then you realize after you write it out, maybe you want to tweak it slightly instead

I think I also had issues of solidifying these ideas whenever I opened a new canvas 😂 I feel like the big white screen is intimidating and just wash away the ideas sometimes! So what a friend of mine suggested was to draw on something else instead: a screenshot, change the color of the canvas color to something you like better, or draw on a much smaller canvas to feel less intimidating

It kinda like, gaslighting your brain into thinking “hey I drew something!” when you draw on something that has stuff on it, at least that worked for me, here’s an example from one of my recent Raven doodle!

I hope these helps! I still struggle with drawing ideas myself too, but take it slow and have fun, different people have different timing to finding that creative juice, ya just gotto try it out until you find something you’re comfortable with

Long story short: We don’t have the definitve reason yet, but his lore features the moon a lot.

More info below the cut in case others don’t want potential spoilers:

From the first story event, Jude is looking at the moon when he makes a comment about promises. Additionally, there are other Jude events that mention the moon specifically. In their Past Records event, Jude is featured staring at the moon listlessly while chainsmoking, their CG feature the reflection of the moon as well.

About his bond stories: in Bond level 4, he lends the MC his personal copy of a book about traveling to the moon (it’s guessed this is Jule Vernes’: From The Earth To The Moon), and in bond level 15 which is called “Moonlit Stroll”, Jude speaks about the book he lent her back in level 4, and says that it’s not wrong that it would take 11 km a sec to make it there, suggesting he’s done the math himself.
