It was Mack's first shift back at work after finding out that she passed the lieutenant's exam. And she was sure her fellow firefighters had already heard the news. Finn smiled down at her, his heart burring from the affection between them. Plus he still hated seeing her so upset, and would do everything in his power to try to remedy that. I'm in it as long as you'll have me around that is," he teased before walking them both to their room, ready to crawl onto bed and let the worry and anxieties melt away for the night. "You do?" He asked with a smile kissing the top of her head. "Why don't we crawl into bed and I'll hold you until you fall asleep? And then in the morning I'll make pancakes for you and Tucker and we can spend the day together again?"

Rosalie blinked up at him, her heart doing a little flip. Finn's words were so tender, so real, and for a moment, all the worry swirling in her mind seemed to melt away. She let out a soft breath, her lips curving into a shy smile as she leaned into his chest, her forehead gently resting against him. “You’re such a sap,” she teased, her voice light and playful, though her eyes were sparkling with a warmth that matched his. "But… I kinda like it." She glanced up at him, her smile growing as she saw how he looked at her like she was the only thing that mattered. It made her heart flutter in a way she wasn’t quite ready to admit out loud. But she didn’t need to—Finn seemed to understand without her saying much.

"Do you really mean it?" she asked softly, tilting her head, a hint of mischief dancing in her eyes. "Because, you know, Tucker has this new thing where he insists on pancakes every morning. Like, every morning. You sure you can handle that?" Her teasing was light, but there was an underlying question she wasn’t quite brave enough to ask directly. Could he really be here, through all the mess, the chaos of their lives? Without waiting for him to answer, she reached up, brushing her fingers through his hair in a playful, affectionate way. “I guess… I’m kinda lucky, huh? You sticking around and all.” Rosalie’s smile turned soft, and before she could overthink it, she leaned on her toes and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek, her nose scrunching slightly afterward in her usual playful way. “And maybe, just maybe… I love you too,” she said, the words light and fluffy, but with a hint of truth she wasn’t ready to fully dive into. But for now, in this moment, it felt right.
