The early official translations were just like that, they were regarded as kinda bad back then too from my recollection. Original Chinese below, it says “Mei’s the most important person to me!” My Chinese is only conversational so someone can probably come up with a better translation.

I found the fan translation, https://mangabuddy.com/honkai-impact-3rd-anti-entropy-invasion/chapter-6. In the original Chinese, Kiana doesn’t specify Mei is a friend (as opposed to girlfriend), she just refers to Mei as a person in the generic sense. Siegfried’s line about Mei is correctly translated, he wasn’t originally homophobic.
