If your sibling is a rogue then make the best of it
I would like to think that Jason is very Hondo Onakha about kidnapping, very dramatic, fairly polite/chill to the one he kidnapped, minimal trauma, very professional overall but also very theatrical. Out of anyone in Gotham to have as your kidnapper, Jason aka the Red Hood is by far the very best person.
ALL of Jason's family whether they be legal, biological, emotional, or honorary, will absolutely try to convince Jason to kidnap them to get them out of some stupid civilian event. Whether or not Jason will go along with it will depend on several factors such as:
Does this benefit Bruce and get him out of a boring civilian event too? Then so sorry, you're just going to have to suffer!
How busy is Jason at the moment? Because being a drug lord and vigilante is actually pretty time consuming and kidnapping can be a lot of work for potentially very little gain.
What does Jason get out of it? Yes money is all well and good but Jason is rich by his own merits and can just steal from Bruce whenever, there's got to be more to it!
When is the last time Jason has kidnapped this sibling? He can't do it too often or it gets less effective. He has a reputation to maintain after all!
It may also depend on which sib is asking and what they need to be "saved" from.
Dick asks to be kidnapped from a bachelor auction charity? Ha! No chance, sorry Dickie! He will be there though and take pictures and laugh. (And also join all the other siblings who are stalking Dick and the winner of the auction in the event the winner wasn't one of the Bats or an invited member of the JL or Titans using Bruce's money) Dick asking to be kidnapped from a gala or some opening night of trendy place he's at to maintain civilian status? Maybe but the bribe has to be considerable. And it cannot benefit Bruce. Dick's normal bribes consist of taking some tedious part of an investigation over for Jason or getting intel from JL databases for Jason and the Outlaws.
Cass? Anytime and always, favorite sister who can beat him up has special kidnapping privileges, though they did stop for a very long time when some weirdos put out the theory that the Red Hood was in love with Gotham's Princess. (idk if Cass is considered Gotham's Princess in any version of canon but she is to me) Cass does still repay Jason in the form of Black Bat keeping an eye on Jason's territory when he's out of Gotham for any significant length of time.
Tim? He does owe the kid for several incidents and Tim normally doesn't abusive the privilege so he'd probably do it but there does have to be some sort of bribe for appearances sake. Tim usually gets Jason to agree in exchange for pictures of Batman tripping over his cape or in some other ridiculous position. Bonus in Jason's mind if Tim requests a kidnapping when Bruce is off world or otherwise occupied, therefore giving Brucie Wayne's reputation a hit. However if Tim wants to be kidnapped from something where Bruce is also suffering as Brucie, Tim is SOL (Tim might get revenge by getting Kon to wear Red Hood gear and "kidnap" Tim from the event if Jason refused. Kon will do it because Tim asked and also I would like to think that Kon isn't too fond of the guy who beat his best friend/boyfriend nearly to death and will mess with him if given the chance) Since kidnapping normally interferes with things that Tim wants to do however, he may instead bribe Jason to not kidnap a sibling that has asked to be kidnapped. Jason usually obliges this no kidnapping request.
Barbara? Sorry, no, he doesn't want to stress the Commissioner like that. He will, however, kidnap other people for her if she asks.
Stephanie? No Stephanie, he doesn't care what you offer, he's not kidnapping you so you can avoid your finals! Stephanie has, however, worn various wigs and been various hostages who died at the hands of the Hood in order to maintain his reputation. She gets paid in baked goods for her service.
Damian? Damian considered the idea ridiculous and proclaimed he'd never stoop so low and he would carry out his duties no matter how onerous! Damian then had to go to a Gotham gala. Damian is trying very hard to figure out a suitable bribe to get the Red Hood to kidnap him often enough that Bruce will be forced to keep Damian away from galas because of the ongoing security threat. So far it hasn't worked because Damian is very bad at bribing Jason, Jason thinks Damian forced to interact with normal people is funny, and Tim is successfully bribing Jason to ignore Damian's bribery attempts. The Red Hood has "kidnapped" Damian once, as a treat, when he thought the kid was looking particularly down about something.
Duke? Duke has yet to be made to attend any society gatherings as the solo Wayne (normally that falls to Bruce, Dick, or Tim) and can usually be spotted hanging out with Cass by the snack table at any gala or trendy event. He's not at Cass's level of reading body language but he's pretty darn good and he and Cass have reached a new level of being able to avoid annoying rich people while at parties. Duke is Cass's favorite gala buddy. Duke hasn't felt the need to ask Jason to kidnap him yet but Jason will allow the first one to be free of charge, no questions asked. After that Duke hasn't figured out suitable bribes for Jason but has realized that all of his siblings are hyper competitive and that Jason would absolutely wager a kidnapping in a competition or for a bet.
Alfred? If Alfred asked then Jason would without any caveat. Alfred will not ask however but might ask on behalf of someone else and Jason will comply.
Bruce? Jason just laughs. And if someone else is planning on kidnapping Brucie Wayne from a particularly boring business meeting or gala? Jason will actively thwart the kidnapping to force Bruce to continue to deal with social activity.
Jason usually splits a portion of the ransom money into bonuses for his goons since their original job outline is drug dealer/enforcer/mobster and not kidnapper. If they're going to get major felonies on their records, better make it financially worth it. All of Jason's goons are masked during any kidnapping event. The rest of the ransom money goes towards a charity of Jason's choosing.
Jason has also kidnapped people who are not his family or family adjacent. Barbara thought her dad could use a vacation at one point but he didn't have the PTO for it so Barbara had the Red Hood kidnap him. James Gordon experienced the weirdest kidnapping of his life that included some of the best food he'd ever eaten, an extremely soft bed, his pile of books that were on his reading list, and access to the sports games he'd meant to watch. The ransom was successfully paid after he had a week to relax. Gordon was then, as per protocol, allowed time to relax after his "harrowing" event. Barbara forced him to take the time. Strangely enough, some politicians who had been giving the Commissioner a hard time were suddenly very quiet when James Gordon came back, well rested, well fed, and ready to get back to the grind. It, of course, had nothing to do with the very polite emails with pictures attached that they all received while the Commissioner was very publicly out of the way.
Oliver Queen, when he was visiting Gotham, was kidnapped by the Red Hood. He was released after the ransom was paid and specifically he was released back in Star City. Mr. Queen was unavailable for comment after the incident but some sources say that he was cursing bats for some reason.
Lois Lane found herself kidnapped by Red Hood and ransomed by the Daily Planet while Superman was off world. Lois Lane returned safely to Metropolis and published a shocking expose on Luthor's latest scheme. Her sources for the article remain a secret.
Bruce is very grumpy about the whole thing, not just because Jason won't help his poor father get out of the stupid social event, but also because Jason being technically a rogue like this makes it very hard for him to successfully argue that Jason should let himself regain legal living status.

Having swapped shifts with Collins for the weekend, Buck is at the bank when four armed robbers barged in, the shortest of whom shot the two security guards. One got the bullet straight to his head and Buck flinches as blood and brain matter spray out in a gory mess across the tiles. The other is luckier, the bullet landing in his shoulder. Buck skids across the floor to get to him before the robbers can yell for everyone to stay down.
He pulls off his jacket and presses down on the bleeding wound. The guard grunts in pain, sweat pouring from his brow.
"You! Shut up!" one of the robbers bellows.
"He's hurt," Buck snaps back and glares at him. "Take what you're here for and leave!"
The robber lifts his assault rifle like he's going to shoot Buck for mouthing off, but the short one who shot the guards hits him on the shoulder. "Come on, we're on a tight schedule."
They leave one single man in the lobby to watch everyone, taking phones from the four customers and five bank staff members. The manager has already been dragged up by her collar and taken to the back.
However, in the commotion with Buck helping to staunch the blood and almost being shot at himself, someone forgets to take his phone.
Carefully positioning the guard near the side and pretending to focus on first aid, Buck pulls out his phone and unlocks it. He keeps an eye on the robber as he murmurs to the guard, "I'm gonna try to contact someone for help."
The guard nods. His lips are going pale.
Buck can't call 911 and risk talking, so he taps through to his chat app, and with his eyes on the robber standing in the lobby, he blindly picks one and types without looking, bank robbery mid city man shot send help and hopes that autocorrect does its job for once.
Then, when the robber isn't looking their way, he puts the phone to Do Not Disturb mode and slips it into the pot of a nearby palm.
--
Rocker's just got out of a meeting with Hicks and Hondo on allocating assignments for the new recruits when his phone rings. The contact info that shows on his screen surprises him.
"Tommy, what's up?"
"I just got a text from Evan-"
"Your ex?"
"-and he texted that there's a bank robbery. Mid City. Someone's been shot. I'm gonna call 911 now but you can trace his location."
Rocker turns around and waves to Hicks. "Tommy, we're gonna need Evan's phone number. Send it to us."
Tommy clears his throat. "Donny, get him out safely."
"Of course."
Hicks gets Tan to trace the phone number while Deacon checks with local PD for details. "Rocker, you're not on shift, you wanna stay back?"
"Nah, Tommy will have my head if I don't make sure he gets his Evan back. I'll follow Hondo's lead."
Hondo nods. "Alright, tac up. Tan?"
"Bank layout and street view." Tan steps back. "Can't get into the security system though. They might've cut the feed."
Then the call from LAPD comes in - someone from the sidewalk saw a gunman inside and called 911.
"Alright, 20-squad, roll out." Hicks takes up his usual spot and Rocker jogs away to get his gear.
Rocker has yet to meet Evan; he and Tommy aren't on the best of terms, though they do try to visit each other at least twice a year. They're about the only family they have that they can stand. But Tommy has been opening up the past half a year, and his Instagram is full of happy pictures of him and his boyfriend.
The breakup has been rough on Tommy. Rough enough that Tommy's crashed in Rocker's guest room for a couple of weeks and even allowed Rocker to hold him while he got drunk and cried.
"Rocker. Who's this Evan guy?" Deacon asks while they hurtle towards their destination.
"My brother's friend. He's a firefighter." Rocker runs through the possible scenarios in his head. From what Tommy's shared about Evan, he's probably dealing with the most important problem inside. "He's likely helping the wounded man right now."
"Wonder why he didn't call 911?" Street asks.
"Probably not in a position to talk. He definitely didn't want to risk tipping off the robbers," says Rocker. "Seems like he typed the message without looking at the screen."
Deacon tilts his head. "Good thing your brother made sense of it fast."
Over the Comms, Hicks informs the team the schematics of the bank has been sent to them.
"Alright listen up. Deac, Tan, y'all take the 3 side. Rocker, Street, you're with me. It's a hostage situation so our first priority is to secure the hostages." Hondo lays out the strategy and Rocker lets himself fall back into a supporting role. Alright baby bro, I'm gonna get your Evan out. Everything else is up to you now.
---
After calling his brother and then the cops, Tommy drove himself down to Mid City, and when the telltale sound of police roar past him, he follows.
Bank eobbeey mis city man shotnsend jrlp
It had taken Tommy a second or so to decipher the message and then his blood had run cold.
He's stuck on the perimeter, his heart pounding as he hears gunshots. Then a handful of people rush out of the front door towards the cops and the ambulances, crying and frantic.
None of them is Evan.
His heart in his throat, Tommy clenches his fists and cranes his neck, hoping to catch sight of Donny.
Then he hears another burst of gunshots and then cops yelling, "Stay down! Stay down!"
Two paramedics race into the building with a stretcher and their kit.
Tommy relaxes fractionally.
Then Donny walks out, a hand on another man's back. Evan. Evan is safe.
"Evan," Tommy breathes out, and tries to cross the barrier. The cop on duty stops him. Tommy glares at her, but he doesn't bother trying to persuade her. Instead he shouts, "Donny!"
Donny looks around and then smiles when he sees his twin. He talks to Evan and points Tommy out, before he calls out to the cop to let Tommy through.
Without hesitation, Tommy races over. Evan's hands are covered in blood and he looks a little worse for wear.
"What happened?" Tommy demands.
"One of them tried to use him as a human shield," Donny says. There's a fury hidden under his mild tone; Tommy knows it's because Donny despises cowards. "Your Evan is brave as hell, though. Dropped instantly on my signal and gave me a clear shot. And he saved the guard's life, too."
"My phone is still inside," Evan says. He looks dazed. "Twins?"
"Yeah," says Donny easily. "I'm eight minutes older. Listen, they're gonna need your statement and all that. I'll go grab your phone for you."
Tommy grabs Donny's arm and pulls him into a quick embrace. "Thanks."
"Just doing my job, baby bro." Donny punches him lightly on the shoulder and jogs back to his team.
On the side, Evan is still staring at his hands. Tommy, not knowing if his touch will be welcomed, gently grasps Evan's elbow. Evan jolts and looks up.
"Hey," he says, a little inanely.
"Hey." Tommy steps a little closer. "You okay?"
"I will be," answers Evan truthfully. "Why are you here?"
"You texted me."
"Oh." Evan blinks at him, and then shakes his head. "Six months and you didn't mention a twin."
"Look, yell at me later? Let's take care of you now," Tommy murmurs.
Evan squints at Tommy. "You'll stick around for me to yell at?"
At this point, Tommy will stick around for Evan to beat him up with a baseball bat. The blinding fear he had earlier of losing Evan forever already proved to him that he'll never be able to get over Evan. He nods.
With a sigh, Evan nods too. "Okay. Let's go get me cleaned up. We have a lot to talk about."

For tommy&rocker twins- Someone from SWAT seeing Tommy w Buck on their day off and thinking ???rocker has a secret boyfriend???
Hondo cannot believe his eyes.
He supposes he shouldn't be too surprised. Deacon and Rocker's relationship did start as cheating... for a year and a half. So, maybe that's just part of who Rocker is. Now that he has Deacon all to himself, the thrill is gone. Now that Deacon has set his whole life on fire, divorcing a woman he was married to for nearly 20 years and working nonstop to repair his relationship with his kids, Rocker is bored and in need of someone new.
And younger.
They look so happy too. Hands intertwined as they walk through the farmers' market, the younger one practically glued to Rocker's side as he smiles up at him.
Then they're looking over the fruits together, and Rocker is scrunching his face up and laughing at something this other guy said. Hondo doesn't give himself enough time to wonder if he's overreacting, because he's seeing a wrong happening right in front of his eyes, and he needs to fix it. Not for himself, but for his best friend! His best friend, who has been so much happier since coming clean about being with Rocker. His best friend who, despite all the issues with the divorce, says he feels freer than he's ever felt before.
He walks up to this "happy couple" and taps on Rocker's shoulder.
"Hey," he begins, expecting Rocker's eyes to widen once he realizes he's been caught.
Instead he gets a confused smile. "Hey. Sorry, are we in your way?"
"Are you..." Hondo huffs out a breath, shaking his head. He turns to the younger guy, who also looks confused. "Hondo Harrelson," he introduces, sticking out his hand.
Buck shakes it, hesitant. "Evan... Buckley. Buck's fine though. This is Tommy. D- Do we know you?"
"No, no, you don't. This guy here does," he says, placing a hand on Rocker's shoulder. "Tommy?" he questions. "Really?"
Tommy nods. "Really." He glances over at the hand that's still on his shoulder. "You might have me confused with someone else."
"I just don't get it," Hondo says, dropping his hand as he glares. "Deacon upended his life for you, Man, and you go and do this? This isn't who I thought you were."
"I'm not- Wait, Deacon? Who-"
"Does Buck know about Deacon? Or are you leading him on too?"
"Yeah," Buck says, tugging at Tommy's hand. "You just leading me on too?"
And if Hondo wasn't pissed before, he certainly was now that this Buck had the nerve to be smiling!
Tommy rolls his eyes. "Evan," he groans before looking back at Hondo. "Hondo, right?"
"Seriously?"
"Okay, Hondo, you must work with my brother, Donovan Rocker?"
Hondo's face relaxes slightly. "Brother?"
Tommy nods. "Identical twin brother."
"Oh... Oh, man I didn't know-"
"It's fine," Tommy interrupts, giving Hondo a smile. "Not the first time it's happened."
"I didn't know Rocker had a brother," Hondo starts to explain. "I just saw you and I jumped to conclusions. I'm sorry, Tommy."
"Not a problem," Tommy assures him. "We don't really see each other much. Hell, we don't even share a last name. It's an easy mix up."
"Well, I'm sorry again, both of you. I will, uh, I'll let you get back to your day. It was good to meet you both." With a quick shake of both of their hands, he's on his way.
As soon as Hondo is out of earshot, Buck eyes Tommy. "Okay, so Deacon?" he questions.
"Did not even know Donny was into guys," Tommy says, already pulling out his phone and dialing his brother's number. "We are having dinner tonight, whether he likes it or not."
Buck grins, excited for whatever Tommy-family news he's about to learn. "I'll bake bread!"

Deacon yells your name before you even see him. S.W.A.T. HQ has become your home away from home, and your home away from Deacon’s home. As you walk in today, you’re greeted by Deacon’s excited greeting and a tight hug.
“It’s been too long,” Deacon says as he steps back.
“I saw you yesterday,” you remind him.
Deacon rolls his eyes before asking, “Is it wrong to miss my best friend?”
Your eyes widen as your smile grows, and Deacon regrets reminding you that you’re his best friend. You know, of course, he’s been your best friend for as long as you can remember, but you like hearing the acknowledgement in his own words.
“Adopted Kay,” Hondo greets when he sees you.
“Still funny,” you deadpan.
Since Hondo found out you and Deacon grew up next door to each other and have been inseparable since you could walk, he’s taken to referring to you as Deacon’s adopted sister, or his preferred sister from another mister. You don’t mind; Deacon is the best “brother” you’ve ever had (including any blood relatives you may or may not have).
“You ask her yet, Deac?” Hondo inquires.
“Ask me what?” you interject.
“The mayor is treating all of us and our families to dinner at La Boucherie,” Deacon explains. “You’re family, so I wanted to extend the invitation to you.”
“That’s thousands of dollars for that many people!”
“Why you should go when it’s free,” Hondo says with a smile and a shrug.
“When is it?” you ask Deacon.
“Next Friday,” he and Hondo answer.
You purse your lips as you think. Next Friday, you have plans with your boyfriend. The boyfriend that Deacon knows nothing about.
“I actually have a date next Friday,” you admit slowly. “Maybe we could reschedule.”
“Whoa, whoa,” Hondo interrupts, raising his hands toward you.
“A what?” Deacon yells.
“I was going to tell you,” you promise.
“This doesn’t seem like my business, so I’m gonna go,” Hondo says. He stops by your shoulder with his back to Deacon to whisper, “Fill me in later.”
You push him away before looking at Deacon. The apology in your eyes is enough to calm him, but innumerable questions are running through his mind.
“How long?” he asks first.
“A few months.” Deacon takes a deep breath, wondering why you didn’t tell him sooner. “How’d you meet?”
“It’s embarrassing,” you mumble.
“More embarrassing than when you fell off my bike because you weren’t tall enough to reach the pedals?”
“Why would you bring that up? Deacon, look, I trust you, don’t doubt that. I was worried that the relationship wouldn’t work out; he’s so different than anyone I have ever dated. If it fell apart after a few dates, I didn’t want to… push it on you or anything, I guess.”
“I am here for you, no matter what.”
“Thank you. We-“
“Doesn’t mean I don’t want to interrogate you. My house after work.”
“Okay. Be careful today, Deac.”
“What’s his name?”
“Whose name?” you ask as you walk away.
Deacon grumbles as you round the corner. He has a lot of information to find out tonight, and he hopes you’re more forthcoming in private. It’s been a while since he scared away a guy who wasn’t good enough for you, and he hasn’t had to deal with Lila dating yet, but S.W.A.T. operations and defending your honor can’t be that different.
After you leave Deacon, your phone buzzes with a text from the man you were just talking about. You smile as you read the short message but turn down his invitation to hang out later. As you pass a police cruiser on your way to your car, you have an idea. Maybe asking your boyfriend to meet Deacon would make everything easier. Hopefully it ends differently than junior prom.
Your afternoon flies by in a storm of nervousness and excitement. If Deacon expresses any interest in meeting your boyfriend, you will jump on the opportunity. Although, you know it will take some convincing to get your boyfriend to agree. You’re imagining his reaction as you knock on Deacon’s door, lost in thought.
“Lose your key?” Deacon asks as he opens the door.
Annie waves from the kitchen, and you give her a quick hug. Deacon shakes his head at your blatant betrayal and favoritism, and Annie reminds him that she doesn’t bring up past embarrassments and injuries like Deacon does.
“That’s what friends do,” he argues.
“Best friends, right, Deac?” you ask, batting your lashes.
“Did she tell you about her boyfriend?” Deacon asks Annie.
“Boyfriend?! Since when?” Annie turns to you with wide eyes, and you glare at Deacon across the countertop.
“Start asking questions,” you say with a sigh.
“What’s his name?” Deacon repeats.
“How’d you meet?” Annie asks.
“Um, he’s a cop,” you explain. “And we met while he was on patrol.”
Deacon falls silent as he considers every cop he has ever met. You don’t know half of them, at the least, yet Deacon still runs through a mental list. His search for one worthy of your time or attention comes up empty. While he thinks, Annie continues asking you questions.
“No, he’s not on patrol anymore,” you say to Annie. It snaps Deacon out of his thoughts as he realizes he’s analyzing the wrong officers.
“If he’s not patrol,” Deacon begins before trailing off.
“Metro Sergeant,” you say softly.
“Metro. Metro?” Deacon repeats. “Not at our station.”
“What makes you so sure?” you challenge.
“Because I know you, and you wouldn’t go for any of them.”
“David,” Annie chides.
“No, he’s right,” you admit. “He works at a different station, in a different division. But, if you want to meet him, I can ask.”
“Of course, I want to meet him! You’re not giving me answers and I need to vet him.”
“You’re talking like a cop.”
“You’re dating a cop!”
“Look, Deacon, my boyfriend is… he can be hesitant and standoffish. I’ll ask, but I can’t guarantee that he’ll agree.”
“They’re both police officers, so at least they’ll have something to bond over other than you,” Annie whispers as Deacon leans against the counter.
“If I don’t like him,” Deacon begins.
“You don’t like anyone I date.”
“If I don’t like him or he’s not good enough for you, I will tell you.”
“I know. You care, even if you show it by bringing up the time I asked to hold your keys to feel more grown up.”
“That’s adorable,” Annie murmurs.
“Ask him, please,” Deacon requests. “And let me know what he says. As long as you’re happy, I’ll give him a chance.”
✯✯✯✯✯
After your conversation with Deacon and Annie, you try to find the perfect opportunity to ask Tim. If he says no, you’ll just tell Deacon the truth. But then Deacon will get suspicious and will try to… You close your eyes and take a deep breath to keep your thoughts from spiraling.
When you open your eyes, you blink quickly at the sight before you. Your boyfriend is standing in the doorway with his arms crossed and his eyes narrowed. He raises his brows, and you know it’s his invitation for you to speak.
“Hi, Tim,” you say.
“No.”
You nod and interlace your fingers together before tapping your joined hands against your chin. Tim tilts his head to the side as he tries to decipher what is making you nervous.
“Do you want to come to my house for dinner this weekend?” you ask.
“Not until you tell me why.”
“Tim,” you groan. “Okay, just let me tell you all of it before you say no, okay?”
Tim nods once and you step closer to him.
“I want you to meet my best friend, and I thought having you both over for dinner would be the best chance to do that. He, um, my friend is a S.W.A.T. sergeant in the LAPD.”
“Is that all?” Tim asks.
“Yeah.”
“I don’t think-“
“Look, he’s been my best friend for my entire life. We grew up next door to each other and have stayed friends for all these years, so he means a lot to me. And I know you’ve met a ton of S.W.A.T. officers and some of them are really stuck up, but you haven’t met him. Please just think about meeting my friend, not another cop, before you decide.”
Your plea was intended to convince Tim, but it only makes him more hesitant. His concerns don’t come from your friend being in law enforcement, but from the idea that it is a man who knows you and what you deserve very well. Probably knows you better than Tim does. Plus, Tim is not a fan of socializing and making more friends, for the most part.
“If you don’t want to, I get it,” you add.
It only takes another moment for you to wear Tim down; you murmur, “Please?”
“Fine. Tell me when,” he agrees with a sigh.
You bounce in place before throwing your arms over Tim’s shoulders to hug him. He sighs again before pulling you close and kissing your forehead.
“I promise it will be fun,” you say.
Tim raises his brows, and you take it as a challenge.
✯✯✯✯✯
On the day of your dinner with Tim and Deacon, you spend the day at home. You clean, cook, and do anything else you can think of to keep your mind off how the evening could go wrong. Being nervous that they won’t get along isn’t a completely unfounded idea, but you don’t know why it is bothering you. As dinner is nearing completion, someone opens your door, and because both men have keys, you’re not sure who it is until Deacon says your name.
“Kitchen,” you call.
Deacon steps in with a dish in his hands. He sets it down and you recognize it as Annie’s baking and your favorite dessert.
“Oh, thank you! And thank Annie!” you say before hugging Deacon.
“Sorry I’m early, I got off work after a call and wanted to see if you need any help,” he explains.
“No apologies necessary. If you can check the pot on the stove, I’m going to grab something from the pantry, and I’ll be right back.”
“Sure.”
When you return, Deacon is looking at you with a smile.
“What?” you ask, running your hands over your outfit to remove any nonexistent wrinkles.
“I know you said I’ve never met the boyfriend, but are you sure?” Deacon asks.
You don’t have a chance to answer before someone knocks. Tim usually lets himself in, but you’re sure the sight of another car parked outside is what deterred him. As you walk to the door, you take a deep breath and hope for a nice evening.
“Hi,” you greet.
“Hey,” Tim replies with a smile. “These are for you.”
He passes you a bouquet of flowers wrapped in cellophane and a gift bag before he closes the door behind him. You run a finger over one of the petals and smile.
“What is this?” you ask while looking at the bag. “A bribe?”
Tim’s lips quirk up as he murmurs, “Something like that.”
“Alright, uh, come on in.”
“You don’t have to be nervous,” Tim whispers.
He lays a hand on your back, and it helps to calm your nerves, at least until you see Deacon standing by the table and watching you.
“Deacon, this is my boyfriend, Tim Bradford. Tim, this is my best friend, Deacon Kay,” you introduce.
Tim removes his hand from your back to shake Deacon’s hand, and you watch them nervously. You invite them to take seats and you move into the kitchen to gather a few items. The quiet is unsettling, and you need to do something to eliminate the awkwardness.
“Deacon asked how we met,” you say as you lower into the chair between them. “I was out walking one night, and this guy was following me. After making a bunch of random turns and going in a circle, he was still behind me, so I called the police. Tim was the responding officer.”
“Who was the guy?” Deacon asks.
You look at Tim, who shakes his head before answering, “He and his teenage daughter live around here and were out for a walk together. He was distracted looking at his phone and answering work emails and ended up following the wrong woman around the neighborhood.”
Deacon shakes his head and smiles. “I tell her all the time that her youthful good looks are going to get her in trouble.”
“Oh, no, it gets better,” Tim continues. “When he did see her while we were questioning him, he asked her out!”
Deacon tilts his head back and laughs, while Tim chuckles, and though it’s at your expense, you’re glad they’re able to laugh about something together. You notice Tim glance between you and Deacon a few times; unknown to you, he’s wondering if you ever had a thing for your neighbor and best friend, Deacon.
“I’m glad the most frightening event of my life is so humorous,” you joke.
“Hey, that’s not even the weirdest call I had that month,” Tim offers.
“It’s not just me, right?” Deacon asks. “People are getting crazier?”
“Oh, absolutely. My last boot and I got called to a psychic studio in Hollywood, and the girl admitted she was making stuff up, but revealed the location of a missing person. She was more concerned with the condition of her $900 crystal ball and flirting with me though.”
“Hollywood calls are always more interesting,” Deacon agrees. “We raided an illegal poker club and everyone inside was dressed as assassinated presidents and their widows. Bloody clothes and all.”
“Oh, that beats anything I’ve got,” Tim concedes. “Metro doesn’t get as many calls as patrol cops, but I know they’re going to be good.”
You lean back in your seat and smile, glad to see the most important men in your life getting along. They start talking about how anyone will flirt with cops to get out of trouble, and you chuckle at their excited discussion of the weirdest things people have said.
“Luckily, your friend over here didn’t flirt with me until after,” Tim says. He winks at you as you roll your eyes.
“You asked me out,” you remind him.
“Not my fault you’re cute,” Tim murmurs.
“Oh, you think she’s cute when she’s being followed. Have you seen her when she-“
You cover your ears and look down, regretting bringing them into your house at the same time. Deacon reminding you of your worst moments is one thing, but telling your boyfriend is different. They’re both lucky you love them. Tim wraps his fingers around your arm to pull your hand away from your hand, while Deacon does the same with the other.
“All good things,” Deacon promises.
“I’m going to tell Annie that you’re being mean to me,” you threaten. Tim fails to conceal his smile, and you add, “And Angela.”
“I’m not apologizing,” Tim responds.
“Doesn’t do much good anyway,” Deacon adds.
“Why did I agree to this?” you ask yourself.
“Because you thought we could bond over being cops. You were wrong, we’re going to bond over you.”
“Careful,” Tim warns. “She won’t invite you to the wedding.”
You look up quickly, your eyes wide as they search Tim’s face. He and Deacon begin laughing at your reaction, and you stand silently before walking to the kitchen. Annie’s dessert will be your only source of comfort it seems; more so when Deacon and Tim walk in with half-hearted apologies. You love them, you remind yourself. When Deacon hugs you before leaving, and Tim pulls you into a kiss after, you forget all about the previous teasing.
“Wait,” you say, pushing Tim back. “What’s in the bag?”
“It’s a picture of Kojo. A failsafe apology if dinner didn’t go well.”
You smile before kissing Tim again. Everyone knows that this dinner wasn’t the last, and when you get a text from Annie asking how it went, you invite her to the next one.

picture perfect guy
rooster x afab!reader | 2.5k words
summary: it’s not like you ever forget your boyfriend is strong but seeing it so blatantly displayed makes you dizzy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
cw: 18+ MDNI, smut, strength k!nk (?), sweat k!nk (if u squint), size k!nk, man-handling, no protection don’t be like them, p in v, reader is down bad, secret relationship, big d!ck rooster, he’s just big in general, shorter reader, reader works in the navy, lowkey power dynamics where reader is higher up, rank k!nk, pet names (girl, baby, etc), fuck the army in more ways than one
you heard what happened in the simulation, working at top gun meant that the pilot training was of utmost importance. no one knew about your relationship and you wanted to keep it that way until the mission ended.
you made your way to the tarmac, wanting to see your boyfriend and your friends doing their punishment. in fairness as maverick’s right hand you had valid reason to make sure they did as told. your boots hitting the sweltering pavement as you made out your boyfriend doing push ups. you were sure his hands were burning up and his body was screaming from exhaustion, you grew closer seeing hondo watching them. you did your best to pay equal attention to phoenix and bob but failed completely as you heard rooster grunting. sweat beaded down his forehead and his skin shined under the sun, a sheen of perspiration on his muscular arms. you swallowed down hard, tearing your gaze from him as you looked to hondo for a count, he looked at you with a wry look and yelled out, “150.”
Tumblr media
“i can take over, it’s hot as hell out here.” you elbowed him, he shot you a smile before counting once more and giving you an appreciative nod of the head. your eyes quickly returned to rooster. he grunted once more, moving up and down only looking up when you yelled out the next number. his furrowed brows and glare dissipated like a lovestruck puppy as he met your eyes, you shook your head to dissuade him, to try and make his response less obvious. luckily you turned to find hondo already walking away. bob and phoenix were too busy fighting the ache in their arms to notice or care. it wasn’t like you were the best actors in the world, hangman made countless jokes at the expense of both of you until you reminded him of your rank. you continued counting not missing how bradley’s eyes never seemed to leave you. he was sneaking glances as much as he could, even craning his head as you walked towards bob when you noticed him slacking off. “eyes forward rooster,” you didn’t have to look at him to see his eyes squarely planted on your ass.
you knew your boyfriend was strong, but times like this reminded you just how strong. your rooster, your bradley was mostly gentle with you. when you first started dating you had no idea just how his training affected him, even saying that you were too heavy to sit on his lap. you still remember his slightly offended expression as he tugged you onto his lap and said, “baby i could bench two of you, are you trying to hurt my feelings?” his words, just like they did the first time he said it, made your stomach drop and your thighs squeeze together. you wanted him so badly, wanted him to break you. you knew you were being unfair, the man was 165 push-ups deep in the sweltering california heat. it didn’t stop your greedy eyes from raking over his frame once again, his back muscles bulging through his black shirt as he strained them. you felt your heartbeat pick up and move south. this was torture, for all parties involved. you unbuttoned a few buttons of your uniform, it was lower than you’d usually wear in the base but the only person who had their eyes on you was bradley. the remaining push-ups went as well as they could’ve, all three lieutenants struggling against their bodies grunting and groaning as they struggled through. when it was finally over bob collapsed to the ground, welcoming the hot pavement against his skin. phoenix and rooster shakily stood. you told them both good work, offering bob a hand up which he refused. “just need to catch my breath.” you nodded and threw him a water bottle from the cooler nearby. rooster and phoenix helped themselves to the drinks. phoenix said something about needing to wash up which you nodded dumbly at not really listening when your stupidly handsome boyfriend was drinking down water like his life depended on it, water dribbling down his chin. your eyes tracked the drops as they ran down his neck and under his shirt, you so badly wanted to lick them off, feel the cool liquid against your lips but most importantly feel skin on yours. you felt an inexplicable urge to just lick him clean, you’d blame it on the heat. your entire body burned with a need for him, to taste him to drink him in, to have him. bradley groaned as he finished off his bottle, your mouth slightly agape when he caught your stare and wiped his chin with the back of his hand. his eyes flashed from confusion to all knowing, he could practically feel the desire radiating off you.
“lieutenant bradshaw, are you done for the day?” you should’ve known the answer, he was under your jurisdiction after all, but your mind couldn’t recall anything about today besides his arms and back. bradley licked his lips, feeling himself grow half-hard at the use of his rank. his breath was shallow as he spoke next.
“i’ll be leaving in 15 minutes after i shower.” his eyes flick down to your opened collar you’d forgotten about that until his wide brown eyes seemed to get wider at the sight. you buttoned up, noticing the small pout to his lips. it truly was a miracle the entire base didn’t know due to how obvious your boyfriend was.
“what a coincidence so will i.” you said, shooting him a small smile before heading off towards the base. you heard him running up to your side, following you back inside.
15 minutes later exactly, you found bradley waiting for you next to his truck. he opened the door for you and you put your hand over his as you entered. you both agreed after almost being caught in your office not to do anything physical on the base. that meant as soon as you were off the base, his hand slid onto your bare thigh, you’d changed into a sundress just like he changed into shorts and his usual hawaiian shirt. you were already so desperate for him, his rough large hand covered your thigh and you squirmed in your seat. the drive to bradley and your’s place felt longer than usual, neither of you breaking the silence. after what felt like years you both entered your home, tugging bradley to you by his shirt, your lips finding his as you leaned up onto your toes. he gasped into your mouth, his mustache tickling against you, his arms encircled your waist and you moaned at the feeling. his arms had driven you insane all day and now they were squeezing you like you were nothing. bradley pulled back at the noise, shocked at how you were so gone from a kiss alone, not knowing your train of thought. you leaned back, moving your arms from around his neck to touch his arms, you trailed them up and down feeling the muscle there as bradley watched you, slowly piecing the puzzle together.
“is my girl all worked up from watching me work-out?” his voice was hushed, heavy with want and you felt heat surge between your thighs as he aptly deduced what had you so dizzy.
“you’re so strong, so big, God bradley.” your hands trailed up his arms, to the broadness of his shoulders, traveled to his back to feel the raw power there too. bradley couldn’t help but let that comment get to head as he took in your dazed expression and smirked. at times like this he wondered how he got so lucky. he pulled you closer, his arms tightening around your waist as your chest pressed against his. he could feel all of you now, you could feel his hard-on against your stomach. you looked up at his eyes, finally tearing them away from his body. you whimpered as he lifted you clean off the floor, not even flinching or breaking eye contact. you were a doll in his hold, propped up so he could get a good look at you, finally eye level with him. your breathing got shallower, and bradley had confirmed all he needed to know, hauling you over his shoulder and carrying you to the bedroom.
bradley easily threw you on the bed, stealing the air from your lungs as you crawled up the bed. he pulled his shirt off, his tank to go next, only his dog tags against his bare toned chest. your cheeks flushed as his gaze met yours, his eyes dark with lust, pupils blown wide surrounded by hazel. you were sure you weren’t any different. “pretty, always so fucking pretty.” he murmured, in a daze just like you, wrapping a hand on your ankle and pulling you towards him, at the edge of your bed. his strength, the way he easily threw you around, made your thighs clench and bradley didn’t miss it this time. smirking as he hovered over you, pulling you by the back of your head to kiss him. he pulled back only to kiss your neck, then your collarbone, before he was pushing your sleeve down, ripping the seam in the process, making you hiss. too fucking strong and too fucking desperate for you, you were choking back a moan but didn’t want to egg him on.
“roo! i like this dress.” you gasped as he continued to kiss you, unwavered by your torn sleeve. you half wondered if you could sew it up, your thought being cut off when his teeth scraped against the top of your breast.
“i’ll buy you a new one doll.” you whined in response as he pulled the front of your dress down, cupping your breasts over your bra. you pushed at his chest, not even moving him but he moved back as you pulled the dress over your head. he quickly unclasped your bra and his kisses turned to bites, one hand kneading one breast as the other teased your nipple. his lips bit and sucked at each nipple, blowing air on it to make it even more sensitive. meanwhile you were bucking under his hold, begging for more, begging for him to touch you.
“please bradley, please,” your pleas were falling on dead ears as he sucked and pinned you down. you had to pull out the big guns. “please lieutenant bradshaw touch me.” his eyes snapped back to your face, his teeth dragging off your tender nipple.
“i’m touching you now.” his hands were circling your waist, keeping you in place. his tone was teasing, he knew what you needed but he wanted you to beg.
“please just fuck me.” and that’s all it took, bradley never was one for dragging things out. you both were already aching for each other. he lifted you up and instead of pushing you further up, he was lifting you clean off the bed, to stand. you legs wrapped around his waist and his hands lifted you up by the underside of your thighs. you looked at him to try and understand what he was doing until one hand left your thigh and you heard his fly unzip. he was gonna fuck you while standing, while supporting your entire weight. you were sure you had soaked through your underwear, bradley would know anyways since his member was freed and poking against your clothed entrance. bradley pushed your underwear to the side, it made you feel even filthier than you did now. bradley cursed under his breath, rubbing his head against you, collecting the slick there and coating his member with it. you whined and twitched as his tip caught against your clit. you’d start dripping on your hardwood floor if he didn’t fuck you already.
“ready baby?” you nodded enthusiastically with hooded eyes, one of your hands playing with his chain as he pushed the tip in. you gasped at the stretch, no matter how many times he fucked you, you’d never get used to how fucking big he was. he stretched you wide and filled you all the way up. he slowly pushed in, letting you adjust like always. you pressed a kiss to his lips as you looked down with a slight nod for him to move.
maybe you shouldn’t have made your newfound affinity for his strength so blatant, because bradley lifted you up and plunged you back down so viciously you saw stars. his tip bruised your cervix and you swear you could feel the veins on his cock stamp your walls. you were clenching around him, the sounds of your slick pouring out of you and the slap of skin against skin filled the room making your head spin. bradley never let up his pace, his breathing growing shallow as he used like a sex toy. “fuck bradley, s-so deep.” you whined out, leaning your forehead against his. you felt his was wet with sweat and you clenched at the memory of him from earlier today. you watched a bead of sweat roll down the side of his head and this time you caught it with your tongue. bradley lost any self control he was holding onto at that.
“you’re killing me baby.” his pace grew brutal, turning you into a babbling mess as he began thrusting up while still hammering you on his cock. you grabbed onto his hair, grabbed his arms his shoulders, dug your nails into his back and clawed, anything you could do to ground yourself. nothing stopped the earth-shattering pleasure from washing over you in waves. everything felt sensitive, your nipples erect as they ground against him from every thrust. you felt yourself close and you knew bradley was too, could feel him tensing up under you. with one final thrust, he came inside filling you past the brim, his cum mixed with yours leaking out the side. you came with him, twitching in his hold as he fucked you both through it, milking him for all he had. he never moved you off as he walked you both to bed, lying you down, spooning you from behind. the angle let him stay inside, not letting anything leak, just like you both liked.
“so the push-ups huh?” bradley whispered against the shell of your ear, pulling your underwear off finally and hugging you closer. his dick going even deeper.
“uh huh, you looked too damn good lieutenant.” at the mention of his rank, you felt his dick twitch and you couldn’t stop the giggle from escaping your lips. you both were insatiable. it wasn’t long before you were worked up again, bradley filling you up and proving just how strong he was all over again.
a/n: possibly my filthiest one-shot to date? that can easily be beaten but something about sweaty bradley bradshaw makes me FERAL…. i will not be taking questions ab it <3

I think I need someone a little bit older - Dominique Luca
Tumblr media
Thank you lovely anon for this request! I hope you enjoy. ☺️💜
Warnings: Age gap, mentions of smut. Race inclusive and plus sized reader inclusive!
Tumblr media
-Everyone on the team was surprised Luca kept talking about you. He had his flings here and there, but you seemed to be someone he was talking about constantly.
- And it really was constantly. He was always talking about dates you guys went on, how you’re doing at your job, or sweet things you’ve done for him.
- The guys were happy he seemed to have found someone, but they were also damn curious to meet you.
- And they were more than a little surprised when Luca brought you to work one day and you looked so young.
- They didn’t think you were too young or anything like that- you’re all consenting adults. But Luca pulling a pretty thing in her mid twenties? How the hell did he do that?
- Luca had the team come over one night after work so you could get to know everyone, and you fit right into the vibes with his team. You and Chris hit it off instantly, and you knew you had a new best friend as everyone sat around in the living room, laughing and drinking.
- Street could tell you were a feisty individual, and being Street, had to try and push your buttons.
- “How’d you end up with this old man over here, huh? Can he even keep up with you?”
- Luca grinned and took the jab in good spirit, but you couldn’t help but smirk and jab right back.
- “Who’s to say I don’t have a hard time keeping up with him, hmm?”
- Your grin and twinkling eyes were enough insinuation, and Hondo was laughing his ass off as Street stared, mouth open as Luca threw his arm around your shoulders and kissed your temple.
- Despite your age difference, you and Luca got along just fine, and you did in fact have a hard time keeping up with him, in more than just the bedroom.
- Luca is always finding new things for you guys to do together. New date ideas, new restaurants, anything that seemed even mildly interesting to the both of you.
- Conversation with him is constant, he loves talking to you and you love every story he tells you about work or his life.
- And he could listen to you talk all day. He’s the most attentive person you’ve met and he never strays from a conversation with you. If he knows nothing about the topic, he wants to learn more and asks all the right questions.
- There really isn’t anything in the relationship that feels off or different with your age gap. He might get a little jealous if someone closer in age to you flirts, but you brush them off so nonchalantly he has to chuckle.
- As spirited and energetic as he is, he’s like a fireball in the bedroom. Passionate, smoldering, and so attentive it’s borderline worship with him. He’s so focused and attentive to your needs, and he loves pleasuring you so much you’re always the first to need a break.
- It makes him puff up, knowing he’s still got it and can still make someone younger weak in the knees. He knows he’s fit from work, and he isn’t too concerned about his looks, but still.
- He’s someone you can explore life with and still settle down at night to relax. And it helps he’s such a damn sweetheart.

dogfighting 101 - 01: let's make it interesting
wc: 1.3k
synopsis: harvard is a good friend (and petty on your behalf)
main masterlist
athena-verse master post
a/n: hi friends! hope you're all doing well, have some more top gun maverick athena plot.
Tumblr media
You got lucky on the first pairing.
“Athena! Harvard and Yale! You're up!”
“Let's go boys, we got a fossil to take down,” you smirk.
Harvard rolls his eyes, throwing an arm over your shoulder, and quietly to you he whispers, “that fossil raised you.”
“Exactly why I get to say it,” you tease, leaning into your friend for a moment.
Harvard shakes his head and pulls you out on to the tarmac. You pause briefly, looking out as Payback and Fanboy pass by, tapping at your shoulders, wishing you luck. Your eyes focus on Bradley though, doing push ups as Hondo counts them. You know the tarmac is blazing, you can feel it through your gear, you can imagine having to do push-ups right now would be miserable. You can even see the strain on his face.
“You remember the rules?” Yale asks as he catches up to the two of you, but you know both of the men caught where your gaze was focused. Harvard’s arm is still tight around your shoulders, and he gives you a squeeze.
“I remember, do you?” you ask, swallowing your thoughts and turning back to the pair.
“Well there was this pilot at Top Gun with us, she gave us so much shit, but hand to God if she isn't the best pilot I’ve ever flown with. She had these rules up in the air, how to focus in, what we leave on the ground, she drilled them into us, really. But, she made us better aviators, hands down,” he teases and you shake your head, happy that these two were your partners for the first go. Brigham turns you with a smile, pushing you toward your jet.
“I think you give me too much credit, Logan,” you muse as you stop beside your jet, grabbing a hold of the ladder.
“Not possible. Show ‘em what this nepo-baby’s made of,” Harvard negates with a teasing tone, tapping your shoulders.
“Yes, sir,” you muse rolling your eyes before climbing up into your jet.
You spot Harvard and Yale as they walk past Rooster. You see the tap Harvard does, stopping Yale, and you watch as he pulls his phone out. The two stopping to snap a photo, undoubtedly teasing him in the process. Yale shakes his head as they walk, and as if feeling your gaze, Harvard turns back meeting your eyes. You know he can see your frown, but all he does is tap at his chest and point at you.
FLASHBACK: TOP GUN
“Why haven’t you emailed him back?”
Brigham’s question catches you off guard, you’d been sat in the Naval Aviator’s lounge at Top Gun. Your laptop open as you switched between Bradley’s most recent email, and a text chain you had running with Amelia about going sailing on your day off over the weekend.
”What?” you ask, turning to look at Brigham.
You liked Brigham, and Logan. They were a good team, and smart aviators. Talented and clever, its makes sense why they got invited to Top Gun. They were also the only two of your class that you actually enjoyed spending time with. They were the only two who didn’t make nepotism jokes as soon as someone realized you were a legacy, that your old man was a Top Gun graduate. They were a solid team, solid aviators, and solid people, you were quickly starting to consider them friends.
”You’ve had that email open on and off the last few days,” he notes casually as he sits down across you.
”You’re a snoop, Lennox,” you deflect with a flat look.
”Guilty, I got two older sisters, snooping was a part of the job, and you make for an easy target, Mitchell,” he shrugs in response. “But it doesn’t answer my question.”
”Not that it’s any of your business, but I never email him back,” you admit honestly.
”Bradshaw, I recognize the name, he’s an aviator too, came through Top Gun last year? Or was it the year before?”
”Yeah something like that, goes by Rooster,” you confirm.
”So what’s the story?” Harvard’s pokes.
”Doesn’t matter,” you shrug off.
”Oh, I get it,” he decides smirking, leaning back as your eyes narrow. “Hook up gone wrong.”
You choke on that, an incredulous look taking over your features. “Ew, no! God,” you scoff.
”Then what?” there’s a challenging smirk still on his lips and you decide that making friends might have been overrated.
”We grew up together. Something happened when he was 18, set him back, made him mad. He blames my dad,” you nutshell.
”So he blames you too?”
“He did. Said some fucked shit, and I decided distance was for the best.”
“That bad?”
“I was raised by a naval aviator for a dad, Harvard. I spent deployments in the PACFLEET Commander’s home. And in every other moment until what happened, I spent with Brad and his mom. What he said, it wasn’t something he gets to walk back by trying to email me life updates,” you bite back, venom in your voice.
Harvard’s hands go up in a second, surrender, he mimes. Your shoulders drop and you look at the roof before taking a breath. “Sorry,” you apologize. “I… I try not to be mad, it was a long time ago.”
“Respectfully, I’ve only known you since we got here, but, if you’re still mad, if it still hurts, then I think it’s justified,” Harvard offers.
“Like I said, it was a long time ago,” you repeat, shaking your head.
“Maybe, but you don’t seem like one to hold grudges, Athena. Whatever he did and said, and you don’t have to tell me, it’s enough for me to know that I don’t think I like him very much.”
You smile softly despite yourself. Just a little quirk of the lip from the blind support you’re being offered. It was so different than the ‘maybe you should reach out’ and ‘hasn’t it been long enough?’ that Sarah, Ice, and Viper would drop, and it’s not their fault you never told them what Bradley said, but you weren’t ready for that, not truly. Brigham in one conversation, had reaffirmed your belief, had brought a comfort that you never realized you needed.
“Thanks, Brig, really,” you say softly.
“Anytime, Athena. You practically kept Yale and I from being booted day one, what ever you need, we got your back, girl, always,” he promises.
You nod softly, willing yourself not to get emotional from the support.
“C’mon, Yale was looking for you earlier, I think he want’s to try that taco place we passed by on the way to the beach the other day,” Harvard offers, effectively ending the previous conversation.
He stands, gently shutting your laptop with a pointed look before offering a hand to pull you up.
You take it gratefully, and pause once you’re on your feet, pressing a sweet kiss to his cheek, “you’re a very good friend, Brigham Lennox, and I am very grateful,” you tell him.
“Let’s go, we gotta get out of here for a bit,” he says dismissively, cheeks pinking slightly.
You nod, and walk in front, he follows after you, handing your laptop back with a smile.
...
You’re brought back from the past as your name is called, giving you the 'all clear' to start take-off protocols. You take a breath and remember the rule, leave it on the ground, a clear head for clear skies and soon enough the three of you were in the sky over the training range.

Always Ever Only You Part 13 | Rooster x Reader
Summary: When Nat and Bob are in imminent danger, Bradley is beyond furious about the decisions that have been made. It should have been him up there flying with them. As you count down the minutes until Bradley returns home, the rush of nerves feels more like anxiety than anticipation, and that does not feel good.
Warnings: Angst, swearing, fluff
Length: 5100 words
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Female Reader
This was written to accompany my series Is It Working For You? along with a bunch of my one-shots and other series, but it can be read on its own! Check my masterlist for the reading order. Always Ever Only You masterlist. Gorgeous banner by @mak-32
Tumblr media
Now that you were just a few days out from Bradley's return home, you were starting to feel antsy and anxious. This wasn't the way you usually felt. It used to be a rush of energy thrumming through your body, knowing he'd be back soon to hold you all night, make love to you, and fill the little pieces of your life that were lost without him. But now you just felt unsure.
When you really thought about it, you knew you and he had been missing the intimacy in your relationship for a little while, too focused on other things. The sex was still enjoyable... well, except for the last time when you felt sick with obligation. And he still held you all night. But some of the pieces of your life together felt like they had gotten lost, and you desperately wanted to find them. Because feeling nervous about reaching those previously known levels of happiness and intimacy when Bradley got back was not something you were prepared for.
So you talked to Dr. Genevieve again, and in her cool and collected voice, she said, "If something is broken, you either take the time to fix it, or you abandon it. And when it's a relationship, you don't have the luxury of making that decision alone. Do you want to fix it or abandon it?"
"I want to fix it," you replied easily.
"And what did your husband say when you spoke to him?"
Your heart thudded in your chest as you replayed the facetime conversations in your mind and whispered, "He wants to fix it, too."
She nodded. "Then you'll both take the time to do that."
Afterwards, you felt like hiding in your office, because what did that even mean? You knew what you wanted, but you didn't know how to get it. And you tried your best not to focus on your cycle and wanting to get pregnant, but it would have been impossible to forget about it completely. Where was the balance? You were simultaneously antsy for Bradley to get home so you could see if putting in the time to fix things was worth it and also scared that it wouldn't be.
Instead of hiding in your office, you made your way down to get a burrito bowl for lunch. "Is this seat taken?" you asked Jake, kicking the leg of his chair with your boot and nodding toward the empty seat across from him at the small table.
"Angel," he said, meeting your smile with a look of panic. "You know I love you, right? But I saved it for Cat. Unless she decides to bail."
"Oh," you gasped, a little surprised by that. When you, Javy and Jake had gone out for pizza two nights ago, Jake claimed he was going to let Cat decide if she wanted to try to be friends with him, but you knew he was hoping for more. He sat on your couch with Jeremiah until Hondo showed up, and Jake didn't back down against the glare from Cat's Uncle. "Guess she's into the idea of hanging out? That's good?"
He kind of shrugged. "Listen, all I want to do is make out with her and hold her kid, but don't tell her that, alright? Oh, there she is."
"She didn't bail," you murmured, watching Cat make her way toward you. When she saw the small table with only two chairs, her steps slowed.
"Go," Jake growled, planting his palm against your lower back and shoving you out of the way. "I'll call you after work."
"Jeez," you groaned, glaring at him and heading toward Cam instead.
"Hey, stranger," Cam said as you sat down across from him, and soon Maria joined the two of you. Eating with them was familiar and comfortable, and you didn't have to think about it too much.
When they asked if you wanted to do brunch on Sunday, you smiled and shook your head. "No way. Bradley's coming home on Friday."
Cam smirked and said, "Oof. Lieutenant Commander Mustache returns home to his little wifey after his long, hard deployment. Sounds like a Lifetime movie."
"I don't know," Maria added. "You said long and hard. Kinda sounds like a porno."
You sat with your forehead on your tray as you shook with silent laughter. "Maybe it'll be a bit of both?"
Cam stole a bite of your burrito bowl as he said, "Report back."
-----------------------
Bradley had been chosen as the spare. When Dean told him after he had dismissed everyone else, Bradley knew it was simply to add insult to injury. But he took it on the chin, saluted the admiral, and returned to his bunk.
If Bradley said more than two words to anyone the following day, that was news to him. Nat and Bob gave him a wide berth as they got themselves prepared for the mission, and he appreciated that. He wasn't jealous of them, and he'd been quick to tell them that. And he knew they understood. This was a feeling that came along with the territory, he supposed. But this would mark the first mission he didn't qualify for, and he just needed to take a breather.
Getting home to you was now his priority, his focus. If he could only be successful in the air or on the ground right now, he was going to choose the ground in San Diego with you. But that didn't stop him from worrying about Bob and Nat flying with Slayer.
Bradley collapsed back onto his bed with his notebook. He decided to read what he wrote. He hadn't done that yet, favoring scribbling more thoughts and sentiments down every time he picked it up. But reading it from the beginning calmed him down, and just the thought of you made him finally able to fall asleep.
Bright and early the next morning, he and Bob were both dressing in their flight suits. They walked to breakfast together and ate with Nat. Then the three of them made their way out onto the tarmac. But instead of being part of the main bustle of action, Bradley saluted his friends and stood next to his aircraft with his helmet on.
The weather looked good, and the comanche was reporting back that everything looked clear. But just before the four aircrafts were due to take off, Admiral Dean made a surprising announcement over the comms.
"Initiate the backup plan! Option B! Strike the military base first and then head back around to the communications tower. Follow the flight plan for Option B. Please respond that you understand in order."
Bradley climbed the ladder into his F/A-18 as he listened to Nat respond, saying that she copied Dean's orders. This was not a good sign that the plan was changing on the fly. There were probably loads of enemy aircrafts already airborne if such a drastic decision was being made, and Bradley automatically switched to the updated flightpath in his mind, even though he wouldn't be flying it. But being able to envision what was going on might help keep him calm.
He got himself strapped in and ran his thumb along his silicone wedding band before sliding his hands into his gloves. And then he waited. He watched intently and listened over the comms, and when it was his turn, he said, "Rooster. Spare. Standing by."
The carrier was outrageously far out in the ocean right now. Nearly five hundred miles away from the coastline. And as he watched Nat and Bob launch from the deck, he kept his eyes on them as they faded into the late morning sunlight. It would be about thirty minutes until they were flying over land, and another five minutes more until they reached the military base.
So he would have to sit here and wait for nearly an hour and a goddamn half while worrying about his friends and having an existential crisis about his career before they all returned and he could get changed out of his flight suit.
"Unbelievable," he muttered to himself as he listened to the others over the comms. Slayer had been named team leader, and right now he was trying to boss Nat around. She wasn't having it though, and Bradley smiled as he listened in.
But a few minutes later, he heard the radar tech from the comanche give a heads up that there were some enemy aircraft nearby. And then Slayer said, "Everyone else stay on course, I'll switch to tack northwest and hit the communications tower first."
Bradley lurched fully upright in his cockpit. He must have heard incorrectly. No way Slayer would deviate from the plans like that. But Bradley could hear Nat's panicked voice saying, "You won't have our laser guide! And we won't have your missiles! Stay on course, Slayer!"
"I'm the leader, Phoenix. You stay on course. I'll loop back around. It will be fine."
There was so much commotion all of a sudden, Bradley could only hear a jumble of voices inside his helmet. He did some quick math, visualizing the terrain maps he'd had memorized for nearly two months. Five hundred miles out. Five hundred back. They weren't flying at maximum speed, but they were still burning fuel fast, hauling almost two dozen missiles. There was absolutely no way Slayer would make it back to the carrier if he tried to switch course now and rendezvous with the others at the military base. He'd run out of fuel halfway back to the aircraft carrier.
"Stay on course!" Admiral Dean demanded loudly. "Everyone stay on course!"
But Slayer was already gone. And now the comanche radar tech was reporting four more enemy fighters in the vicinity of the military base. Bradley pounded his fist on the side of his seat. Nat and Bob were completely fucking screwed. And so were Charmer, Mack and Terror. Unless all six aviators were working in unison, this was going to result in a tragedy.
"Come on, come on," Bradley chanted under his breath, his fingers already twitching along his control panels. He thought about his friends whose handful of missiles would only get them so far before they were dead without cover. And he thought about you, but then again you were never far from his mind. His perfect wife. The main reason he did anything.
Finally his thoughts settled on the fact that he'd left his wedding band at home with you, and he felt calm knowing that you'd always wear it on your chain.
"Send the spare." His Super Hornet was being towed to the catapult.
-------------------------------
It was a weird, stormy evening. There were clouds rolling in from the ocean, and although you could see a lot of lightning and hear thunder, it hadn't started raining yet. So you put on Bradley's sweatshirt and clipped Tramp's leash onto his collar, running your fingers along the tags your husband had gotten engraved for him.
"Yeah, you're spoiled," you told the dog as you pocketed some treats for him. Then the two of you ventured outside and along the blocks that would take you to the beach. The wind was blowing harder down here, whipping the sand and dune grass around. But the beach was completely deserted, and the storm looked intoxicating.
As you walked along the water's edge, your flip flops and sweatpants got soaked. Tramp kept pausing to look out into the ocean, and you said, "Daddy's out there. Somewhere." You weren't sure exactly when the mission was being flown. It could have already been completed. You had enough clearance at work to be able to find out for sure, but if Bradley caught wind of that kind of behavior, he would have a fit. You knew he didn't want you worrying about him.
Tramp whimpered and started barking, and then the clouds rolled in faster. A loud crack of thunder had you running back up the beach with Tramp right next to you. By the time you ran up past the dunes, the sky opened up. You turned back to look at the ocean one last time before hard raindrops started pelting your exposed skin. It was almost painful, and it was hard to keep your eyes open as you made your way back to the pretty craftsman.
You stood on the covered porch, looking down at your sandy, drenched dog and laughing. "Come here," you said before scooping him up and carrying him right into the bathroom, leaving a sandy trail along the way.
If Bradley were here, he would take Tramp off your hands and clean him up as you soaked in the tub yourself. But for now, you'd do everything. He'd be back soon. You would take the time to fix things soon.
--------------------------
Once Bradley was in the air, the clock was ticking down the minutes until he could see land and locate the others. He'd been given permission to hit mach 1.8. Actually, he'd been given permission to do whatever was necessary. "Spare inbound. Land sighted," he said, easing back on the throttle a bit as he banked along the mountain range and dipped past the river that would lead him to the recently destroyed military base.
Slayer had managed to destroy the communications tower as part of the solo mission he decided to go on, but at what cost? He got so far off course from the others, and backtracking would have eaten so much fuel. Bradley listened as he was called back to the carrier where he would be safe while everyone else was now in danger.
Bradley was getting closer now as he listened to what was going on and tried to visualize it.
"Tally, tally! On your nose, Phoenix!"
"Deploying flares!"
"Incoming at twelve o'clock!"
"I can't shake them, Charmer!"
"I'm out of missiles and flares! Switching to guns!"
"We took a hit!"
He would know Nat's voice anywhere, but hearing her say that she and Bob had been hit had Bradley flying way faster than he should have been this close to the river embankment. But one more cut through the mountains, and the aircrafts were in sight. And it was the worst kind of dog fight.
The air was a mess of flares as Bradley immediately spotted missiles being launched at Charmer. And he knew Charmer said he was out of defensive aids.
"Tally, tally!" Bradley called out. "Bandit on your nose, Terror!" Then he laid down a cover of flares for Charmer as the other pilot eliminated one enemy with his guns. "Phoenix! Bob! How bad is it?" Bradley asked, deftly launching a missile and watching it collide with the wing of the jet that was headed for Terror. The enemy pilot ejected, but there was no point in pursuit. Not on a rescue mission.
"We're leaking fuel," Bob shouted, and Bradley could actually hear all of the alarms going off in their Super Hornet through the comms. "Rapidly." Then Phoenix dodged past Charmer and shot down another enemy jet. "And we're out of ammo," Bob added.
"Head back, I'll lay down cover for you," Bradley told them. "Go!" There were still two Bandits, but his friends would never make it back anywhere near the carrier if they delayed leaving. He could smell the jet fuel as it permeated the air around him, and he just knew what a hazard that was. He prayed nothing would cause an explosion at this point.
"Out of ammo now," Charmer reported, and now Bradley was starting to panic. But then he saw the opening they needed.
"Terror! Follow my lead!" The remaining Bandits saw how vulnerable Nat and Bob were and started to pursue them, so Bradley circled back to get their attention on him.
"I'm almost out of ammo!" Terror responded, getting into position.
"Then don't miss." Bradley fired his last missile at the first one and then joined Terror and Mack in shooting down the other one.
"That's splash six!" Charmer announced.
"Is that everyone?" Terror asked.
"Affirmative. That's everyone," Mack confirmed.
"I want everyone back on this carrier, now!" Dean nearly shouted through the comms, and Bradley rolled his eyes. "Phoenix, land first, if you can even get here!"
Then thankfully he eventually heard Nat say, "We're limping in slowly now. It's gonna be close."
What a fucking nightmare this had turned out to be. As Bradley flew cleanup, since he was the only one with bullets and flares left, he kept his head on a swivel. "Comanche? Incoming?"
"Negative. Picture looks clean."
"And an ETA for Phoenix and Bob?" he asked as he followed Charmer and Terror out over the water.
"Seven minutes."
Bradley swore he didn't breathe and barely moved as he flew further away from the coastline. He didn't dare think about anything except the passing clouds overhead and the sound of his own heart beating. He didn't utter another word until he heard Nat say, "Coming in hot! Banking toward the tower. Full engine failure, no fuel to the feedline. Tailhook extended and hoping for the best."
"Come on, Nat." Bradley still couldn't see anything up ahead, but when the tower announced that Phoenix and Bob were safely on deck, he finally let out the breath he had been holding.
When he was able to circle the carrier and see it for himself, Bradley loosened his death grip on the throttle. And when he landed cleanly, that signaled that everyone was back on deck. The crews came to help him unload, and as soon as his boots left the last rung on the ladder, Nat was tossing her helmet aside and reaching for him.
"Thank you," she whispered against his shoulder.
Years of trust and friendship had him clinging to her. "It should have been me up there with you two the whole time."
"I know. That was so fucked, Rooster."
And then Bob was there as well, looking more flustered than Bradley had seen him all deployment long. But then Bradley pushed past both of them and tossed his own helmet, shouting "What the hell, Slayer!"
But Slayer barely acknowledged him as he walked toward the tower looking like he was headed for the gallows. Bradley stood there, drenched in sweat and reeking of jet fuel, and watched the other aviator as a red faced Admiral Dean appeared on deck and started yelling. It didn't matter. It didn't matter that Slayer fucked everything up or that Bradley saved the day. The only thing that counted now was getting home to you.
-----------------------------
Friday morning seemed to stretch on for an eternity. You didn't have a specific time to expect Bradley to unload from the carrier, so you decided to go to work until you heard from him. When Bickel called you in for a progress meeting on all of the lab projects, you hauled a stack of folders in with you. And that's when you fully realized that over several years of working with him, he had made you his number two. He always wanted your opinion the most.
"How are you feeling?" he asked as you set everything down on his desk and took a seat. He met your eyes, and he was expecting an honest answer, but you knew he wouldn't give you a hard time.
"Better. Bradley is coming home today," you told him. "Thanks again." But he just waved you off like it was no big deal and opened up the top folder on the stack.
Later when you went down to eat lunch, you got cornered by Jake. "Come sit with me."
You just smirked as you grabbed a fistful of tiny packets of hot sauce. "Don't you want to sit with Cat?"
"No, I want to sit with you. Rooster comes back today, and I'll never see you again," he replied. "I know you're struggling, but the two of you will be disgusting again soon."
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath. You were nervous. It had been building up all week. Part of you just wanted to get this over with and work things out, and part of you wanted to bask in Bradley's words as he told you how much he missed and loved you. If he told you those things.
"I miss being disgusting," you told Jake as you followed him to a table. "But I still want to have a baby." You felt tears in your eyes as you sat down, and Jake met your gaze. "I'm anxious that Bradley is going to talk about my cycle and want to know when I'm ovulating. It's bad enough that I know I'm ovulating right now, you know? I don't want him thinking about it, too. And, fuck, I'm sorry Jake."
"Hey, no," he said, reaching across the table and squeezing your hand. "I love that you want to talk to me about stuff. But just dump your hot sauce all over your lunch and take a deep breath. Let Bradley get home and prove to you that he wants to fix things as much as you do. Give him a chance, Angel."
But your nerves carried through lunch. And now you were scared that your husband wouldn't greet you the way he always did. You were afraid that you were just a fragile, broken thing in his eyes, and there would be some sort of undertone of rejection even though the two of you said you were on the same page over facetime.
As you walked back to your office, your phone vibrated with a text, and you already knew it was him without even looking. Your heart started pounding, knowing what you needed but unsure if you were going to get it.
Bradley Rooster Bradshaw <3 <3 <3: I have phone reception! I can see the dock! I should be off this thing around four or five. Think you can skip out of work a little early and meet me? I missed you so much.
No turning back now. A smile actually broke out on your face. There would be no time to run home and change, but it didn't matter. You had missed him, too.
I'll be there. Of course I'll be there.
When you mentioned to Bickel that you were going to leave two hours early, he told you to have a nice weekend. And when Cat saw you packing up your computer at 3:30, she walked over and gave you a little hug.
"Don't be nervous."
You tried to act cool. "I'm not."
"I can tell you are. Just enjoy your weekend with your husband. I'll stay late if need be and finish the coding."
"Thanks," you muttered. You and she never explicitly talked about the fact that you were jealous that she had tiny Jeremiah in her life, but you knew she knew. And you were okay with that.
As you jogged out to the Bronco in the parking garage, you found you were only thinking about one thing: how good it felt every time Bradley wrapped his strong arms around you and held you against his warm body.
"Shit," you gasped, fumbling the key in the ignition. You needed that. That was it. "Fuck." You could barely start the engine, but when you finally did, you pulled quickly out of the parking space and headed the half mile or so around base toward the military docks. When you drove through the gates and parked again, you could see khaki uniforms pouring down the ramps and onto the dock.
"Oh no." You were out of the Bronco and running, scrambling for your phone. But as you got closer to the ramp, you spotted Bradley. He was so easy to pick out of a crowd. Tall and broad and impossibly handsome with his duffle bag slung over his shoulder. His head was on a swivel, probably wondering if you were here yet.
And then you froze up. Every feeling hit you all at once as he stepped down onto the dock, boots back on California soil for the first time in almost two months. He looked to his left and then to his right, searching for you, and you could tell he was about to reach for his phone as his hand dipped down toward his pocket. But then he saw you. And that was when you realized that he had the same look of apprehension on his face that you must have had on yours.
It was so noisy, and there were hundreds of people on all sides of you, but you could see him mouth, "Baby Girl," before his lips formed into a smile that had your feet rushing forward. Bradley was actually shoving people out of his way now which had you laughing. And when you realized you weren't so nervous anymore, tears started to fill your eyes.
"Baby Girl!" he called out, and a second later, you were in those strong, sure arms that you loved so much.
"Bradley." But the sound of his name was muffled as he kissed you, holding you so close to him that only your toes touched the ground as you wrapped your arms around his neck. You smiled against him as he shook his bag free and let it drop to the ground next to him, but he didn't break the kiss.
Every voice around you and the warm sunshine melted into a dreamlike quality. You wanted to stay here in his arms where you finally felt comfortable. There was a lot to say, and you'd get to it eventually, but the feel of his big hands and his mustache were so familiar that you felt more confident again.
When he finally broke the kiss, Bradley pressed his forehead to yours and kept one big hand at the back of your neck, stroking your skin softly as you shuddered in his arms. "I love you," he promised, voice full of desperation like he was begging you to listen. "I just needed to be with you."
You closed your eyes against your tears and whispered, "I love you, Roo."
Then his rough fingers were moving slowly along the back of your neck, his other hand coming up to work at the clasp of your necklace. You smiled when you realized what he was doing. Bradley removed your necklace but kept his body pressed against yours and he carefully palmed your gold charms.
"Been dying to put this back on since I took it off." He kissed your cheek and then slid his wedding band along the chain before carefully clasping your necklace in place again. Then he quickly removed the silicone ring and pocketed it before slipping his gold band into place. "It just didn't feel right. It's not the one we got married with."
And then his arms were wrapped around your waist, and you let your cheek come to rest on his chest. You didn't want to be the first one to say it, but you thought one of you should. About how much you wanted to fix things. About making things work. "Bradley."
But you shouldn't have been worried. He kissed the top of your head, his grip on you unrelenting as so many of the other officers and crew members around you were starting to clear out. "I promise you that you're everything I want. And I'll make sure you know it."
So you nodded and melted into his touch. And it was quite a while later before you moved, but you could hear Bradley's stomach growling which made you smile. "I have some Marry Me Rooster in our fridge that just needs to be reheated."
He peppered your face with kisses until you were laughing. "Let's go home," he whispered. "Wanna see Tramp and snuggle you on my lap while we eat."
After Bradley had you safely buckled in the passenger seat, he started the engine, and you could tell he missed his Bronco too. He held your hand on the short drive home, and you filled him in on a few things. When he parked in the driveway and helped you out, you asked, "How was your deployment? I didn't even get to see Bob and Nat."
He kissed you softly as you unlocked the front door. "I'll tell you later. It's not as important as this. As being with you."
Your heart swelled as Tramp tried to jump up into Bradley's arms. "Missed you, too," Bradley told him, kneeling and scratching him behind his ears while the dog kicked his other hand. "Were you a good boy?"
"Of course he was. The best." You squeaked as Bradley scooped you up for a piggy back ride as he stood, and he carried you to the laundry room with Tramp jumping around behind you. "What are you doing?" you asked, kissing Bradley's ear as you held onto his shoulders.
"Just want to get out of my uniform before we eat."
When he set you down and turned, you carefully unbuttoned his shirt and started working on his pins. His hands settled on your waist, stroking you through the fabric of your own khaki uniform shirt. And his eyes were soft. And he wasn't in a rush, except maybe to get dinner. And he wasn't asking about your cycle. And he didn't seem interested in doing anything at this moment except working on your pins and lining them up in the tray near the sink along with his.
"I missed doing this," you whispered, and then his lips found yours again. And it was a few minutes before Bradley let go of you long enough for both of you to finish getting undressed and put your uniforms into the washing machine.
"Let me put on some sweatpants, and I'll help you reheat dinner," he said, hoisting you up for another piggy back ride that had you laughing.
"Sounds good, Roo."
He bent to pick up his duffle on the way to the bedroom, and you helped him empty and sort everything onto your bed. When you dipped your hand inside the bag, you pulled out some neatly folded undershirts and a beat up notebook. You flipped open to the first page while Bradley sat on the floor to play with Tramp.
Baby Girl, when I think about you, I think about the rest of my life spread out in front of me. And it's not exactly like a map, because I don't know where we are going or where we will end up. But I feel safe when I'm with you. Even though so much is unknown.
You carefully closed the notebook and pressed your lips together, unsure if you were supposed to read that. "Roo?" you asked quietly, and Bradley looked up at you as you showed him the notebook. "What is this?"

He's home! Finally! And Slayer is hopefully completely screwed. Thanks @mak-32 and @beyondthesefourwalls

Omg I just accidently found your blog and I'm so freaking happy, cause there are not enough writer who writes for Deacon 😭 unfortunately I'm super obsessed with him, with an unhealthy amount of fic ideas in my brain xD so I give it a try and send you one of those, hopefully jot annoying you with this (or with my shitty English, it's not my first language, so I'm sorry).
Well buckle up for my request:
Reader is a new Swat member and instantly everybody loves her, with her bubbly friendly self. She's bonding great with her teammates and especially her and Deacon grow super close (they develop feelings for each other but don't want to tell the each other afraid to ruin their friendship, so their feelings stay hidden). When one day a case goes sideways and it leaves her injured (maybe a concussion or something like that) Deacon blames himself for her injury and the next days he distances himself from her, cause he thinks that it is unhealthy for him to have such deep feelings for her and him constantly worrying for her wellbeing. She notices his change of behavior and she's super sad. He starts to being unfriendly to her and being a little bit of an ass?! Even alerting the other members with his behavior. The whole situation is taking a toll on her and she is starting to effecting not only her poor heart but also her health. (so maybe she falls sick, but keep it from her teammates especially Deacon, cause she thinks that after her injury during a case he thinks of her as not capable or something like that). That is until one day she doesn't show up to work which very uncommon for her, cause she's always on time and the first one at the station. They're all worrried and Hondo tells Deacon that he has to drive to her apartment. Well he tries to refuse and send Stress but Hondo insists, so Deacon drives to her apartment. He finds her suffering from a very high fever..... So maybe with a happy ending like Deacon regrets his shitty behavior, she instantly cries when she recognizes him in her feverish state, asking him why he hates her suddenly, which is now breaking his heart. He cares for her and nurses her back to health, or at first tries to bring her fever down. Later he confesses why he was an asshole.
Soooorry it's so long. There's so pressure for you to write this. Maybe you just want to use some ideas? Well I would be so happy.
Please take care lovely
Here you go, hope you enjoy!
“Nice!” Luca exclaimed as the team watched you send rounds down range from your firearm.
With the increase in officer related shootings, LAPD had decided to provide each team a SWAT medic and you were the newest member of 20 squad.
“Who knew girls can shoot?” You heard Deacon asked. You turned to playfully scowl at him and noticed him wink at you.
“Better watch it, Kay, or I’ll show you just how good I really am.”
You had been a part of the team for just over two months and they were the best guys you had ever worked with in your career. You truly became a part of their family – you had their backs and they had yours. There was one that was different though.
David Kay.
You had noticed him watching you on more than one occasion, stealing winks from you, sharing small, flirtatious smiles. You weren’t sure if your attraction to him was mutual or not, but if you had to guess, you would say yes. However, you didn’t want to complicate anything by dating one of your teammates and you didn’t want to ruin the friendship you had developed with Deacon. You assumed Deacon adopted the same mindset because he never brought it up either.
However, that didn’t mean your flirting with each other fell on blind eyes.
The entire team noticed it and often gave you both shit over it.
You both were in the middle of denying another teasing round of friends with benefits accusations from your teammates when you were dispatched to a school shooting.
The mood immediately sobered up as all of you put on your gear and grabbed your bags and firearms. The ride to the school in Black Betty was quiet minus updates from Hondo.
“Stay liquid, guys,” He told the team as you pulled up on scene.
There were multiple reports of injured children inside of the school.
This call was all yours.
It was going to be your job to go inside and assess each injured child to see how critically injured they were. It was your team’s job to protect you while you did that. You were going in without any knowledge of where the shooter was, but you knew if you had children, you would want someone to go in and save your baby. You swallowed your fear and prepared to do your job.
You got out of the armored truck and took your spot in the middle of your team. You slowed your breathing down to get your heart rate under control and keep your emotions in check.
Deacon made sure that he stayed close to you as you entered the school. He knew his teammates would have your back too, but he felt… differently about you. He cared about you a lot. He had quickly fallen for your smile and your personality. You didn’t let the team’s banter intimidate you one bit from the start. You were quick and witty with your playfulness with them. You were smart as hell when it came to medicine and you had proven to be a solid member of the SWAT team in training exercises and on calls you had run together. He wanted so badly to ask you out to dinner, but he wasn’t willing to change the dynamic of the team by adding a relationship to the mix. However, that didn’t mean he couldn’t be protective over you – whether you noticed it or not.
That was why Deacon had taken it so personally when you were knelt down, applying a tourniquet to a fourth-grade student’s leg and got shot by the hidden gunman. His team covered him while he immediately turned to you to make sure you were okay. The round had struck your vest, but you knew it had broken ribs. The pain you felt in your side was unmistakable. Regardless, you threw your body over the child’s to protect her from the gunfire that ensued. Deacon and Luca dragged you both behind a desk behind a wall in a classroom.
“Are you okay?” Deacon asked without taking his aim from the door way.
“We’ve got to get her out of here.” You ignored his question as you continued to try and stop the little girl’s bleeding.
Your voice was forced and you were breathy.
“I asked if you were okay,” Deacon said angrily.
“I’m fine.” You retorted.
You soon heard Tan’s voice over the radio that the shooter had been neutralized. You didn’t know if there was more than one shooter, but didn’t see any signs of one so far. When you got the clear from Hondo, you radioed for another team to come in and get the girl out and get her to a hospital. Once she was safely removed, you resumed your formation in the middle of the team to continue to clear the school building. Deacon could tell you were injured because you didn’t shoulder your firearm correctly, but he didn’t see any blood so he let it go. He was pissed off at you for not stopping and going to get help yourself, but he was even more pissed off at himself for not seeing the gunman before he shot at you.
It took two hours to clear the rest of the school and stabilize the remaining children. By the time you were done, you were visibly diaphoretic and short of breath. You could hardly manage three words without stopping to catch your breath.
“20-David to command,” Deacon radioed, “We need an EMS unit to our location, we have a team member who needs to be checked out.”
You were in pain, you couldn’t breathe, and you were pissed off that Deacon asked for EMS without consulting you first.
“Why did you do that?!” You managed to asked through clenched teeth. “These children need those paramedics.” You took a few shallow breaths, “Not me! Cancel. Them.”
If looks could kill, your sergeant would be the one who needed a medic unit, not you.
“Officer,” Deacon said sternly, “You look like hell and you cannot breathe.”
You started to open your mouth to cut him off, but he started speaking loudly again.
“Now, I suggest you shut up and listen to your sergeant. I am not the one who takes orders from you.”
His harsh words hit you harder than the bullet hit your ballistic vest and left you just as speechless. David had never been so disrespectful to you. If the paramedics hadn’t arrived to assess you, you would have turned in your badge right there. You knew the rest of the team had noticed as well because they were all silent which pissed you off even more. Where was your support?
The paramedics tried helping you onto the stretcher, but you refused it. Despite not being able to speak for being short of breath. You held onto the stretcher for support and walked to the ambulance. By the time you finally made it outside to the ambulance, you were physically unable to get into the ambulance because you were hurting so bad and so short of breath. The EMS providers finally convinced you to get onto the stretcher and they were able to load you into the truck.
When you arrived to the ER, you were taken to a trauma room due to the fact that you had technically been shot. Your chest x-ray revealed a collapsed lung due to the broken ribs.
The rest of the team finished debriefing before being cleared to leave for the day. Hondo met Deacon in the quiet locker rooms since most of everyone else had already left.
“Deac…” Hondo paused, knowing he needed to tread carefully, “What was up back at the school? I have never heard you speak to anyone like that – especially one of our teammates.”
Deacon slammed his locker shut.
“Hondo, now ain’t the time, brother.”
The lieutenant raised his hands in surrender. “Okay, I won’t press, but I do ask that you consider an apology. It was unwarranted today. We all performed immaculately given the circumstances.”
“No, Hondo. No. We did not all perform immaculately.” His tone was biting.
Deacon walked passed Hondo and left the locker rooms. He left the station and threw his duffel bag in the backseat of his truck. He climbed in, started it, and drove to a nearby lake that off the road and would likely be deserted after dark on a week night. He parked in the dark and slammed his fists against the steering wheel in frustration.
Tears filled his eyes as he mentally kicked himself in the ass for missing the shooter that injured you today. He didn’t fight the tears as they spilled down his cheeks. What had gotten into him? Why were you different? Why was he so upset? Why did you getting injured bother him so badly? You were okay and you were expected to make a full recovery according to Hicks. Where along the line had he developed feelings and why was he so afraid of talking to you about them?
You spent 6 days in the hospital, 4 of those with a chest tube before being discharged home. During your entire hospital stay, Deacon had not been by to see you once despite daily visits from the rest of your teammates. It made you mad, but most of all, it hurt your feelings. You really liked you sergeant – or you thought that you did. His actions since you had been injured spoke louder than any words that could have been said.
Luca and Chris were there to take you home and help you get settled. They carried your bags in and Chris helped you unpack your things while Luca cooked supper for the three of you. Chris helped you remove your bra so you could put on a loose, comfy t-shirt. Being the only females on the squad left you two comfortable around each other.
“That is one hell of a bruise, babe.” She said as she looked at your black and purple side.
You had to agree – the entire left side of your torso was bruised. It looked awful. Thankfully, the doctors had been able to help manage your pain with narcotics.
“I’m glad it finally looks worse than it feels… Which is saying a lot because it still hurts like hell.”
You slipped on a pair of sleep shorts and made your way back into your kitchen with Chris.
You took a pain pill and joined your teammates in your living room to eat the spaghetti that Luca made.
“Thank you so much for taking care of me guys,” You said several hours later as you walked Luca and Chris to your door.
“That’s what we’re here for, love,” Luca said, pulling you into a gentle hug.
You kissed his cheek, “Supper was delicious, Dom. Thank you times a million.”
He returned the kiss to your cheek and Chris pulled you in for a hug.
“Call us if you need anything?”
You smiled at her after the hug, “You know I will.”
You settled onto your couch with a glass of wine. You knew the alcohol and narcotic wasn’t the smartest elixir, however, you needed to mask more than your physical pain.
You couldn’t get Deacon off your mind and your heart had yet to stop hurting. Your emotional pain screamed much louder than your physical pain.
“Dammit!” You heard through clouded consciousness. “What the fuck?”
You felt yourself being picked up and carried to your bed. You recognized a familiar cologne but quickly disregarded the scent and winced at the pain in your ribs before drifting back off to sleep.
You woke up the next morning nearly in tears again as you entered a coughing spell. You managed to get out of bed and make your way to the kitchen where your pain pills were, but you were scared shitless by a man sitting at your kitchen table. As soon as your heart began racing with fear, the fear subsided, realizing that it was Deacon sitting inside of your home.
“Jesus Christ! What the fuck, David?” You held your chest with one hand and braced your broken ribs with the other.
He didn’t answer you.
You ignored his silence and took your morning pain medication.
“Ya know… I said the same thing last night when I came over and found you unconscious on your couch. So, I can also say, what the fuck? What were you thinking?” Deacon’s voice grew steadily louder as he stood up and turned to you. “Pain pills and alcohol?”
You were angry. “Something to make this shit stop hurting,” You spat as you snatched up the side of your shirt to reveal your black and blue torso.
You could tell the extent of your injuries caught Deacon off guard. His facial expression softened and he didn’t respond.
You let go of your shirt, letting it fall back down to your waist and continued fixing yourself a glass of water to take your pain pill with. You took your medicine and continued to ignore your sergeant as you turned your back to him to get the milk out of your refrigerator to fix yourself a bowl of cereal. His hand stopped yours mid-air reaching for your cabinet. He gently held your wrist with one hand and you felt the edge of your shirt being lifted again. He let go of your hand, staring at the bruising that covered you. You could sense his demeanor soften.
There was a long silence as he took in your injuries.
“I’m so sorry…” He whispered.
The tone in his voice felt like a hug to your soul.
“Deacon-” You turned around to face him.
“No, listen to me,” he interrupted you. “This…” He grazed his fingertip down your side, “is all my fault.”
The confusion was written all over your face.
“I should have seen that bastard before he ever had a chance at you.”
You began shaking your head but you weren’t quite sure what to say.
“You’ve been an asshole to me ever since it happened, David, what the hell has changed now?” You were beginning to grow angry again.
“Look, I am so, so sorry.” His voice was gentle. “I should have stopped that guy before he shot you. I shouldn’t have snapped at you like I did. I should have visited you in the hospital. You are a teammate and I failed you, but I really should have told you from the get-go that I have developed feelings for you.” He didn’t take a breath the entire time he spoke so you struggled to follow him, but his last sentence hit you like a ton of bricks.
“Excuse me?”
“Ever since you have been on the team with us, you have become more than just a teammate to me. Truthfully, I have liked you from the day that I met you and my attraction to you has only grown every single day. I like you so much more than just as a teammate. I would dare say that I am falling in love with you.” He slowly reached up to cradle your face with his hand, hesitant, wondering if you would allow him to touch you.
You did.
“I am so, so sorry that I have treated you so poorly this week – so wrong. It had nothing to do with you and everything to do with the fact that I hate myself for not being able to protect you like I should have. I’ve been so afraid to let you know how I feel about you. I’m sorry I was more afraid of affecting the team than I was giving you the honesty that you deserve. Please, please forgive me.”
He looked into your eyes as he nervously chewed on his bottom lip.
“Deacon…” You said quietly, leaning into his hand caressing your jaw.
He took a deep breath and continued, “If you don’t feel the same way, I understand, but I came over here last night to apologize and tell you all of this. When I found you passed out on the couch, barely responsive, it frustrated me. So, I stayed here last night to make sure you were okay. Please don’t be mad.”
Silence fell between you while you considered how to respond. Given the emotions that you had worked through over the past week, going from feelings for your partner, to physical and emotional hurt, to anger towards David for not visiting, texting or calling, resentment towards yourself for having feelings towards David despite how cruel he had been to you with his absence while you had been hospitalized, you struggled to find any words.
Deacon watched you suffer through a week’s worth of feelings as he watched your eyes. You took a deep breath.
He decided that you were taken too long to respond and if he didn’t act now, he never would.
He leaned down and softly pressed his lips on yours.
You instinctively closed your eyes and allowed David to kiss you. When you didn’t pull away, he parted his lips just enough to run his tongue tenderly along your bottom lip. You opened your lips, allowing him to kiss you deeper. You began to return the kiss when David went to place his hands on your waist, forgetting about your injuries. You stopped kissing him and winced.
“God, I’m so sorry,” he said.
“It’s okay.” You whispered, your voice shaky.
Deacon noticed the tears that trickled down your cheeks.
He wiped them away with his thumbs and began apologizing to you again.
You interrupted him with another kiss. You reached up and intertwined your fingers behind his head, softly rubbing his neck with your fingertips. He moaned quietly into the kiss. He grabbed your arm and squeezed it, needing to touch you, but being mindful of your injuries. You enjoyed the feeling of his tall, muscular body, towering over yours. You felt protected.
“Deacon?”
He pressed his forehead to yours, brushing a stand of hair behind your ear, “Mmhmm?”
“I love you.”
"I love you too."

It doesn't happen during or even after the funeral or while he's on the phone with Slider before the mission (there's a cat to feed and plants to water and things Pete is never going to pack and put away because he's not going to put him away like something that's easily forgottable).
It happens during the last briefing before the mission, when the clock doesn't sign five in the morning quiet yet, and they all are there, in front and around him. He's talking to Hondo, and maybe a little to Rooster too, but everybody is listening even when they try to be discreet.
"If I die," Mav says. "could you make sure I'm buried next to Tom? I don't have many requests - all the other stuff is already in my will - but... not I forgot the most important one. " Mav finishes, looking over Hondo like he just asked him to pass a pen, not to remember where his best friend wants to be buried because he knows he's not going to come back from this one.
Hondo's hand is shaking a little when he squeezes Mav's shoulder.
"See to come back so you can change your will yourself, Captain," and he tries to make it light and almost laughable but, later, Hondo is going to pray to everything he can think about to make sure Mav has a chance to come back.

GEMS MY FRIEND SAID WATCHING 'TOP GUN: MAVERICK' FOR THE FIRST TIME:
"The jacket! The famous jacket that pulls women, pulls men, pulls the world!"
"Oh look how hot~ he looks on that motorcicle. He's even pracing his ass!"
(Maverick, on screen: "Well... He's not here yet.") The mans madness has begun."
"MAVERICK DON'T DIE YOU STILL NEED TO HAVE YOUR GAY ROMANCE!"
"He lasted two months at Top Gun? HA. He probably was a bigger piece of work than the students."
"From what I can tell, Maverick tamed Iceman. In the first one he was the little annoying bitch and Maverick saw a challenge."
"I mean, at least these two (Penny and Mav) have chemistry. They hooked up in a plane, after all."
"Iceman solves his problems, Iceman keeps his job, what a simp. That's dog behavior."
"Maverick doesn't look likes he's flirting with her, he's just confused. His confused face looks like his flirting face, and people assume. I know this because people do it to me."
"Yeah, he's kinda like that one Olívia Rodrigo song that she gets confused when she sees her ex... What was it again?" ('bad Idea right?' by Olivia Rodrigo)
"I like him (Bob)! He's pathetic like me!"
"Oooohhh they're (Phoenix and Bob) gonna be besties! I can feel it."
(When Phoenix racks Rooster with the cue) "OHOHOHOOOO I LIKE HER ALREADY."
(Didn't notice Hangman taking Bob's cue, I relayed the information) "Aaaahhh don't steal Bob's cue. Bob's cool, Bob's nice."
(After rewinding the scene) "NO, NO, NO! WHO IS THAT? NOBODY CAN STEAL BOB'S CUE! I don't like him (Hangman)."
(Hangman, on screen: Bradshaw! As I live and breathe!) *Slowly turns towards me with dead eyes*
"That's not enemies to lovers, that's just enemies."
"With just this scene, I can tell this guy (Hangman) comes and goes. 'Sometimes I flirt with you, sometimes I hate you.' He's like a tsudere."
"Oh, got it. Phoenix is adopted into the man's group. She's a bro."
"I wouldn't say that they're his support system, but those two are the people that know him the best. Hangman is paying attention because he wants to be the best and needs to defeat Rooster. Phoenix is demonstrating a more sibling like worry."
"Hondo is like Mavericks babysitter."
"Oh. Oh, now Mav's flirting with her."
(Following the 'Baby on Board' comment) "Don't talk shit about Bob! I don't like Hangman."
"Maverick is like a step father to Rooster. Not in the 'HAHA I FUCKED YOUR MOM' kind of way, but in the way that he helped raise him."
"Where is Iceman? I'm here for the two of them, I don't give a fuck about Aeronautics."
"I think Ice and Maverick had a long relationship, but they're not together anymore. They maintained a friendship, but their lives probably went in different directions. I'd say they were together for 10, maybe 20 years."
('I ain't worried' by OneRepublic starts playing) "This song is from 2022? OH MY GOD THE SCENE"
"DON'T PLAY AROUND WITH GRANDPA!"
*Started chanting "BOB! BOB! BOB!" When he got picked up*
*Eeriely quiet during the bird strike, until Maverick starts talking to Rooster* "OH THEY'RE NOT DEAD. THEY COULDN'T HAVE KILLED BOB! IF THEY KILLED BOB I WOULD STOP AND NEVER WATCH TOP GUN EVER AGAIN!"
"Definitely 20 years. Ice is probably the only person Mav actually loved. Like, not a fling?" "Yeah, probably." "He's been with lots of women, and men, but Iceman is the only person he was ever in love with– maybe still is."
"I think his (Ice's) wife knows. That's probably why she recognizes Mav and is kind of friends with him." "That's probably why she just let him go up to see Ice." "YEAH GO AHEAD, FUCK MY HUSBAND!"
"It's pretty easy to notice that Snowman– No, ICEman."
"That is the face of a man who just lost the love of his life."
"Damn, the mans a beast. If It was me I'd already have cried, alone, in a room absolutely destroyed, never to come out again."
"He's got nobody, dude! I just want his step child to come back, because If he doesn't that man's gonna kill himself!"
"Why does it always have to have a romantic ending. Just leave him with his adoptive son. Go away."
"They (Penny and Mav) aren't going to end up together."
"I have a theory! Fanboy is obsessed with women! Cus he's 'Fanboy'." "But wouldn't he be called Simp, then?" "Ah, then he's obsessed with men." "... simp can be for men too."
"There's gonna be a Top Gun Three? Who's it gonna be about? It ain't gonna be Maverick, that man has a foot in the grave already."
"Bob is my favorite in the second movie. I have no favorites in the first one because everybody is very macho and very gay, and that's boring."

👻🎃Punch Out Halloween Headcannons!! 🎃👻
(Not doing colored text anymore bc it's frustrating to do on a phone bruh)
Glass Joe 🥐🇫🇷
- Dressed up as a mummy, but you're forgiven if you thought he got into a bad accident
- Along with the candy, the nurses at the WVBA helped with his costume (he's close to them - dude's a boy best friend to them)
- Not going out, is staying inside and watching old horror movies
- Giving out candy the WVBA nurses lended to him, which consist of tiny lollipops and hershey kisses (if he likes your costume, he'll give you a little croissant he baked that morning)
- Got pranked by Kaiser's boxing class/Aran around 2am! They basically trapped him in his own costume (wrapped into a real mummy) and locked him in his closet. Aran wrote "french fry shelter" on the closet before inevitably leaving him. No one found him until the next morning
Von Kaiser 🔩🇩🇪
- His boxing class is going around, pranking everyone alongside a certain Irish boxer
- Didn't dress up, is just wearing a cutesy (of corny) halloween t-shirt
- Not trick or treating, he spends all night by the door, awaiting kids (he doesn't wanna get surprised by them)
- Giving out toothbrushes and raisins, like bruh, you're German ffs give out chocolates or something /j (borrowed this hc from @bucketspammer4life )
- Was informed about his students pranking the other boxers by Hondo. They're all running extra laps tomorrow morning
- Was the first to find and free Joe the next morning
- Apologized in-person to every single individual person pranked by his students
Disco Kid 🕺🇺🇲
- Dressed as Abba, sung her songs throughout the whole night
- Actually went trick or treating, but his mom is giving out king-sized candy bars (he will happily tell anyone this information)
- Visited Joe and freaked out, thought Joe was seriously hurt.
- Pulled an all nighter (zamn, again, Disco Kid??)
- Ran into Aran and the boys at some point, took a selfie with them, and left them.
- Managed to score the most candy out of everyone that was also trick or treating
King Hippo 🦛🏝
- Not trick or treating or handing out candy
- Literally scaring anyone he stumbles across (halloween is new to him)
- Dressed in a hippo onesie
- Stole as much candy as possible whenever he found a "take one" bowl
Piston Hondo 🥊🇯🇵
- Group costume! Him, Heike, and Tiger are dressed as Sailor Moon characters. He's dressed as Sailor Jupitar (his fave)
- Heike is dressed as Sailor Mercury
- Even Yuki (the cat he owns) is dressed as Artemis
- He's at his apartment, standing near the door, expecting trick or treaters
- He's handing out generic candy, snickers, reeses cups, milky ways, etc. If he loves your costume, he'll give you a piece of his secret stash of Japanese candy
- Got his door painted pink because of Aran and his squad of pranksters. He informed Kaiser about this immediately
Bear Hugger 🐻🇨🇦
- Posted a poll online about what he should wear. His fans wanted him to go as Freddy Fazbear...
- "Erm, what's a Frederick Fast Bear?"
- Learned about the fnaf lore
- Dressed up as Freddy Fazbear (har har har har har) and his wife, Lomasi (an OC of mine, exclusive to my SU) dressed up as Chica
- Spruce (his squirrel) is dressed up as the cupcake, but it is implied that the squirrel gave consent (pls someone get this joke ;-; )
- By far, the best boxer to visit. Bro is giving out full sized pancakes and waffles
- Thankfully, didn't get pranked bc lives far from the other boxers
Great Tiger 🐯🇮🇳
- Dressed up as Sailor Uranus to match the Sailor Moon theme. His clones are dressed as the other Sailor Senshi
- He's out trick or treating while his clones give out candy
- Got a decent amount of candy; He's willing to trade anyone for the candy's that have nuts in them
- His clones are giving out only m&ms in a variety of flavors... and the occasional small toy once they ran out of candy
- The real Great Tiger gets pranked by Aran and the boys! They steal his magic gem and refuse to give it back unless Tiger performs out one of those in def transformation scenes from the Sailor Moon anime. They record it, and it goes viral
Don Flamenco 🥀🇪🇸
- Dressed as Prince Philip, and Carmen is dressed as Princess Aurora. It made for a cute pic on social media
- Wanted to go trick or treating, but Carmen threatened his li-- nicely said to him that someone should pass out candy while she goes out trick or treating with her friends. She promises to share her candy with Don
- All of Carmen's friends are dressed as the other Disney princesses
- He's giving out WAY too much candy... half the kids in Brooklyn Heights (the place in my AU where Don and Carmen live) are all on sugar rushes now. He's giving out the good stuff too... like, full on individual bags of candy.
- Keeps getting catcalled by lonely women and moms... and Aran Ryan.
- Got pranked by Aran and his gang of kids! They stole his toupee and threw it in a tree.
- Spent half the night trying to get the toupee back
- The next morning, he learned that Carmen did not save him any candy from her trick or treating (dw Disco Kid will spare him some candies)
Aran Ryan 😈🇮🇪
- Dressed as himself and spent the entire cold night only wearing his boxing shorts.
- Left a candy bowl outside his place, but that candy bowl is placed within a bear trap... no one knows if it's real or fake.
- Even if you get past the bear trap, the candy Aran placed out will mostly likely have razor blades in them (the candy ain't worth it, it's just those gummy cheeseburger's that Lil Mac's hiding in his gloves)
- Met Kaiser's boxing class of kids while trick or treating and bribes them into pranking other people in exchange for candy
- They egged 18 houses, tp-ed 21, and mugged at least 66 trick or treaters of varying ages
- Ransacked Joe's apartment for all of his candy and his morning croissants. He basically robbed Joe using a tiny army of minors
- Also pulled an all nighter
- Somehow managed to get one of the kids (some nerd named Mason) arrested
- Didn't share any of his candy with the kids (he'll pay for this eventually)
- Stopped his pranks at 7am after attempting to smash a jack o lantern on Bald Bull's doorstep and failing after Bald Bull charged at him
Soda Popinski 🍾🇷🇺
- Had no idea what to go as, so he placed some goofy mimimi pajamas on, and said he was "tired" (dad joke)
- "Bruh what are you dressed as?"
- "Oh me? I'm tired."
- Not trick or treating because he looks goofy. He's staying inside, listening in on Macho Man's halloween podcast
- Giving out tiny soda cans since everyone already knows him as a soda fanatic
- Very careful about pranksters targeting him for his past alcohol addiction... straight up pretended to not be home when Aran and his gang of minors pulled up
Bald Bull 🐂🇹🇷
- No candy, not dressed up
- Literally just vibing, going on a fun scary movie marathon with his nephew and niece.
- He carved a few pumpkins earlier and displayed him outside his place, but otherwise wants to be unbothered
- Heroically placed an end to Aran's halloween reign of terror
- Fell asleep listening to Macho Man's podcast
Super Macho Man 🌊🇺🇸
- Dressed as a lifeguard, specifically a lifeguard character he played as in one of his past movies
- Hosted a failed live halloween podcast where he tries to meet up with fans... this fails hard. Only 5-7 people join his podcast.
- Going trick or treating, but he's really just going out to visit fans... and failing at doing so.
- Got a hefty donation from "ATallGlassOfVictory70" for no reason
- Got bullied for "being fake" by a bunch of children... and Aran Ryan.
- Didn't leave candy out. Instead, he left out a bowl of sticky notes with his name on them. Only 1 autograph per person!
Mr. Sandman 💤🟢
- Didn't dress up. He's not even wearing a Halloween shirt. He wanted to dress up as a Kirby character, but his trainer/boss, Mr. Dream said he would look stupid and unprofessional
- Didn't go trick or treating, and thinks he's too old for it (he's wrong /gen)
- Giving out above average candy... mainly fruity/sour candy
- Unintentionally scaring most kids by his mere appearance, especially really young ones
- Aran and his gang didn't bother pranking him
- Can't eat any of his candy, as it isn't in his 24/7 training diet regime that he has
Thanks for reading guysss :33 Happy Halloween!

“Hondo!” Luca calls as he enters SWAT HQ.
Hondo stands immediately, his eyes wide as he asks, “She’s in labor?”
“No, man, and she won’t be for a while,” Luca replies with a smile. “I thought I was supposed to be the nervous, jumpy one.”
“Give it a few more weeks,” Deacon interjects. “It gets easier after the first one, though.”
“We ain’t all like you, Deac,” Hondo teases. “What do ya need, Luca?”
“50 Squad’s serving a felony warrant with the Marshals in Santa Clarita, so Hicks wants us to be ready to pick up the slack.”
“They better not go to Magic Mountain without me,” Street grumbles from the other side of the room.
“Priorities, Street,” Deacon reminds him.
“Yeah, they’re sorted.”
“I have to be at the party supply store before they close at 9,” Chris says. “As long as our shift ends when it’s supposed to, I can let Rocker slide this one time.”
“You don’t have to do that,” Luca responds.
Chris turns to stare at Luca, and after a moment, he concedes and raises his hands. The team decided to throw you a baby shower, besides the one you had for friends and family, because you are part of 20 Squad, and you’ve gained another family. Luca expected Annie to be the one who took the reins of the shower. He has seen how well you and Chris get along, so he shouldn’t be surprised by her insistence on making the party perfect.
“When does she learn the gender?” Street asks. “If it’s a boy, Streeter has a nice ring to it.”
“They’re not going to set the kid up for failure before birth, my man,” Hondo calls.
“Her appointment was supposed to be today, but the doctor had to reschedule,” Luca answers. “She’s not sure she wants to know, though.”
“Chris works for a niece or nephew,” Chris points out.
Luca laughs, then remembers that Hicks asked him to review a new strategy with Hondo and, despite his preference to continue discussing you, he focuses on work.
Tumblr media
Los Angeles has every kind of store you could ever need, but when a new handmade baby goods store opens a few miles from your place, you know you must visit. Luca is at work, you’ve done everything Chris allowed you to for the upcoming baby shower, and even though you’re 20 weeks pregnant, you’re restless. So, you gather your phone, wallet, and keys, then lock your front door and begin the short drive to the store.
The pastel blue façade welcomes you after you park, and you run your hand under your growing bump as you enter the store. A handwritten “Cash Only; Sorry!” sign is displayed on the counter, and you mentally thank yourself for asking Luca to take you to the bank over the weekend. He’s the best part of your life, the love of your life, and his insistence to help you prepare before giving birth has been a godsend.
“Hi!” a smiling employee calls. “Welcome in, let me know if you need anything!”
“Hello,” you reply. “Thank you. I’m just looking for now.”
“Awesome! There’s so much cute stuff in here, take your time.”
You smile, then trail your eyes around the store. It’s larger than it looked from the outside, and you decide to start in the back corner and work toward the front of the store. There’s a small cart return area at the front of the store, likely from the building’s past resident, now blocked off with a sign that says, “We got you, mamas. If you’re shopping alone and need assistance, let an employee know and we’ll keep your stuff behind the counter so you can relax and focus on finding the perfect items.”
As you reach the back of the store, there’s a corner filled with onesies and toes relating to parents’ jobs. A pair of pajamas catches your eye, embroidered with a police van that reminds you of Black Betty and “Relax, my dad is a police officer.” You lay it over your arm, then laugh at the one behind it. With both secured, you continue walking around the store. The employee from earlier checks in with you as you walk past and graciously offers to take the items from your arms and hold them behind the counter for you.
“Thank you,” you call as she uses a dry-erase marker to write your name on a plastic bin beneath the register.
“Of course!” she replies.
She waves to another employee, returning from somewhere, and you continue shopping. You look at some BPA-free bottles and specialty pacifiers rather than looking up when the bell over the door rings.
“Welcome in.”
You hear the strain in the cashier’s voice and shift your attention quickly, reaching for your phone when you see a man dressed in all black blocking the doorway. He puts his gloved hand against his hip as one of the women places her hand against the edge of the counter, her fingers underneath the lip. You assume she presses a panic button and stay behind a shelf as you click your screen to find Luca’s contact.
“Empty the register,” the man demands.
“Okay, okay,” one of the women mutters, opening the register and dumping a few bills and loose coins onto the counter.
“Where’s the rest of it?”
“That’s all. We just took most of it to the bank, we only have enough to make change.”
“Open the safe!”
“Don’t have one.”
The man jerks his head to the side quickly, then pulls a black gun from his waistband. You forget about texting Luca and press the button to call him instead. The man pulls his black cap off, running his fingers through his hair. He turns toward you after his arm falls out of his peripheral view, suddenly aware of your presence.
“What are you doing over there?” he yells, aiming the gun at you.
You raise your hands quickly, but not before setting your phone behind a bottle on the shelf and praying Luca answers. “I was just shopping,” you answer as you step away from the shelf.
“Give me your money, too!”
You swallow as you pull your wallet out, then hand over the cash you have. The man holds the gun on you with one hand as he counts the money with the other. He sighs, then backs toward the door. He twists the lock until it clicks and flips the sign on the door to say Closed.
“This isn’t enough,” he says as if he’s having a normal conversation and not threatening lives over less than $500. “What are we going to do about that?”
Tumblr media
“What about a bottle warmer?” Street asks, scrolling through a baby registry on his phone.
“Got one,” Luca answers without looking up. “I told her to make her own registry.”
“Towel warmer for Mom?”
“I bought her one,” Hicks interjects. When the team turns toward him, he shrugs and says, “New moms need comfort and new things, too.”
Luca smiles and shakes his head as his phone begins ringing. “Speaking of new moms,” he murmurs before answering the phone. Luca doesn’t hear anything, so he repeats your name several times. Just before he hangs up, he hears muffled speech.
“What’s up?” Tan asks, noticing the concern on Luca’s face.
Luca gestures for him to be quiet, places his phone on speaker, and turns it up.
“I was just shopping,” you say, your voice growing quieter like you’re stepping away from the phone.
“Give me your money, too!” a man yells.
Hondo reaches across Luca’s chest and mutes the microphone to ask, “Where is she?”
Keeping the phone call connected, Luca navigates to your contact and reads your current location so Street can type it into the computer.
“Home Grown Baby, it’s a handmade baby goods store,” Street says. “The silent alarm was activated less than a minute ago.”
“Maybe you should put the gun down,” another woman says. “We can help you.”
Someone screams, and you plead, “Stop, stop.”
Hicks raises his own phone to his ear, whispering hurried commands. “I called off local PD. That’s a hostage situation. Luca, if you need to sit this out-”
“I’m good,” Luca assures the team. “Let’s do this.”
“Luca,” Deacon calls, stopping him on the way to Black Betty. “Your girl, your unborn child… he’s going to try to use them as insurance, a surety that things stay in his control. We need to you think with her if this is going to work.”
“Yeah, for sure,” Luca answers, letting his training override his emotions. At least until he gets to the store.
Tumblr media
You hold a hand against your stomach as you sit beside the employees, tucked under the front of the counter as the armed man paces before you. Glancing over, you see that the woman who returned from the bank, Elizabeth, is looking better. He hit her over the head with his gun, but her color is returning, and the blood on her temple is drying.
“Is-" the other woman, Jane, begins. She stops when the man turns toward you. When he turns away again, she whispers, “Are you really with a cop?”
You nod once and squeeze her hand in a silent promise that your cop, your love, your Luca, will get everyone out of this building alive.
Tumblr media
“Guns blazing,” Hondo suggests.
“I doubt he’ll like that,” Deacon argues. “He clearly wants to be in control based on the phone call.”
“They haven’t spoken since he made them sit,” Street adds, Luca’s phone pressed to his ear. “Not loud enough to hear at least.”
“We can’t risk spooking him into hurting anyone,” Luca agrees. “Try hostage recovery, talk him down, then go from there?”
“Thirty seconds,” Tan alerts from the driver’s seat. “Lights and sirens?”
“Lights only,” Hondo answers. “Park right outside the door, I want him to see us.”
Hondo takes a deep breath, then stops. He passes the phone to Deacon and nods once. Deacon dials the store number and waits for an answer as he trades places with Street to sit in the front.
“Hello,” he says after a moment. “I’m Sergeant Deacon Kay with LAPD SWAT. Who am I speaking to?”
“How’d you know I was here?” the man demands, in stereo for Street, listening to Luca’s phone and Deacon’s call.
“It’s a busy parking lot, someone got suspicious,” Deacon says carefully. “Is there something we should be worried about?”
“Yeah, there is!”
“What’s going on, sir?”
“I need money! She took everything from me, I can’t even see my kid and now I’m going to lose my apartment.”
Hondo holds up his left hand and taps his empty ring finger. Deacon nods, then takes a dramatic breath.
“I get that,” he replies. “My ex took all three of our kids, told the courts I would neglect them because of my hours as a cop. They- women take and take.”
“I need $1,200 but there’s only $300 here!”
“Listen, you come out, and I’ll help you with a plan to get the other 9.”
“No, no, I walk out there, I lose it all anyway. That isn’t how I’m ending this.”
“The women in that store didn’t do anything wrong, Mr.?”
“Kirkfield,” the man says quietly. “Keith.”
“Alright, Keith, my name’s David. I can help you, but not until I know the other people inside are safe.”
“I got a cousin who’s in jail for assault and battery, he called this part ghos-ti, you know what this is, David?”
“No, I don’t.”
“It’s like the root for our word hostage. I’ve got three ladies in here unwilling to cough up the cash I need.” He raises his voice, likely so you and the employees can hear, and adds, “If they’d listened, I’d be gone already!”
“Keith,” Deacon begins.
“No, I’m thinking you don’t get it either. So, remember next time you call without my money that ghos-ti also sounds a lot like a dead baby.”
Luca’s eyes widen as he grips the non-lethal gun across his chest. Hondo informs them they can’t get the money quickly, and Street shakes his head to communicate that Keith isn’t talking.
Suddenly, Deacon’s phone rings again.
“Change of plans, Sergeant,” Keith says. “Ten minutes, or I start shooting.”
“That won’t-“
The line beeps, and Luca tightens his jaw as Hondo begins brainstorming a plan to get inside.
Tumblr media
You hold your hand against your mouth, growing nauseous from the stress of your situation, pregnancy hormones, and hunger. It’s been eight minutes since Keith gave Deacon ten minutes, and you know that the team is working to get inside if they’re not already.
“What are you doing?” Keith asks. “Move your hand.”
“I’m getting sick,” you explain before pressing your lips together.
“She’s pregnant, her blood pressure is probably too high or her sugar’s dropping,” Jane says. “I have snacks in my bag behind the counter, please just let me-“
Keith fires one shot into the wall, and you drop your head to cover your ears, fighting the rolling sensation in your stomach.
Tumblr media
“Hold,” Hondo commands after the shot. “Street?”
“He-“ Street looks toward Luca. “He was talking to her, and one of the women asked to get her a snack. No one’s talking.”
“Stay here,” Hondo tells Luca.
“Absolutely not,” Luca argues. “We’re wasting time, Hondo.”
Luca’s chest tightens; he feels like taking a full breath would kill him, and this time, he can’t rely on his training. He heard the shot but no screaming, so he has no idea what they are about to walk into. Maybe Keith shot on accident, or maybe there’s a bloodbath. Regardless, you’re inside, and he will not sit on the sidelines.
They move silently through the back room of the store, pausing against a wooden door separating them from the showroom.
“I’ll give you my credit card, whatever you want, just please stop,” one of the women pleads through tears. Street thinks it’s Elizabeth, and as they review the thermal scan of the room, he tries to find where your phone could be.
“He’s pacing,” Tan says quietly.
“When he turns toward the front again, we’re breaching,” Hondo decides. “Don’t give him a chance to get another shot off, Chris.”
“I won’t give him a chance to pucker,” she mumbles as she moves into position.
Tan watches the image, raising his fingers to countdown from three. Hondo pulls the door open, and Chris shoots Keith’s upper leg before he even turns all the way around. Luca calls your name, rushing toward the counter as his team finishes their job. When he sees you, your arms wrapped protectively around your bump, he drops to his knees and pulls you against his chest.
“He’s cute,” the woman beside you – bloody woman Luca notices after – whispers.
You nod against Luca, carefully moving your arms to hug him. As you thank him repeatedly for coming, Chris and Tan haul Keith to his feet and take him toward an approaching patrol car.
“You hid this well,” Street applauds as he extends his phone toward you. “That microphone is nice, I should get one.”
“Priorities, Street!” Deacon yells from the back of the store.
“Thank you for coming,” you tell Street. “I need to pay for my stuff and then- I actually need to get up first.”
Luca holds your arms carefully, and Street lays a hand on your back as you stand. Once you’re on your feet again, Luca wraps his arm around your waist.
“These are so on the house,” Elizabeth tells you, passing two bags over the counter. “I’m going to the hospital with Jane but thank you for everything.”
“Thank you,” Luca tells her, pulling the bags to his side. “Now, we’re going home.”
You smile and lean tiredly against Luca. As he helps you into the passenger seat of your car, Street runs over and hugs you. Luca shoves him away from the back door before sitting in the driver’s seat and sighing.
“I’m so glad you’re okay,” he tells you, holding your hand against his thigh. “I love you.”
“I love you,” you reply.
Tumblr media
“Isn’t it cute?” you ask, spreading the police van onesie over the table before you.
“Not cute enough to risk you getting shot at,” Luca mumbles against your temple. “But very cute.”
“Then you’ll really like this one.”
You pass the folded cloth to Luca, leaning harder against his side. He unfolds the onesie, reads it, and laughs. The sound feels like home, and as you curl up beside Luca, you know you and your baby will always be safe.
“Proof my mom loves policemen,” Luca says after a few minutes. “That’s funny.”
“And true.”
“Prove it,” he requests, smiling as his lips brush over yours.

Friends to Lovers Headcanons | Dominique Luca x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
CW: SWAT!reader, age gap, mentioned drug dealing, gun violence, minor injury.
lowercase international. based off of these.
Tumblr media
- from the moment you were put on the team, you and Luca clicked; instant friendship. he made you laugh and was a big comfort during the hard times the job brought with it, leading to the point where the two of you could open up to each other more and more, little by little. it was no surprise that you ended up being one of his top contacts in his phone.
- he always has your back when you're both geared up and heading into a situation; as often as possible, his eye is on you. there's nothing the two of you can't handle, which is why the two of you will often be paired together.
- your team and 50 David are always making teasing remarks at the two of you about how close you are; it's always "when are you two gonna make it official?" and "get a room!" he never let's comments like that get to him because you're one of his best friends; it's literally never been a thought in his mind that the two of you could be more than friends, especially because you're younger than him.
- it doesn't dawn on him until one day, when y'all and the team are raiding the house of a suspected meth dealer and it starts with gunfire. you get hit and fall to the ground, but there's too much chaos happening around him to ensure you're okay as Street pulls you out of the line of flying bullets.
- Luca has to turn his attention to the task at hand because he knows it's what's best; it's also ingrained in his being as a third generation swat officer to complete the mission first and foremost. he apprehends the suspect and tries his best to get to you, but he's pulled away to deal with the arrest with Hondo.
- you're sitting on the back of an ambulance getting checked out when he sees you again; his heart is hammering in his chest, blood rushing through his ears, every nerve on edge. he can't breathe a sigh of relief until he can talk to you, hear your voice. as he approaches, he sees the gnarly bruise starting to form on your stomach where your vest caught the bullet.
- he stops short as he watches the paramedic inspect you; his eyes scanning your figure for any other injuries they could have missed. you're wincing but smiling through it, talking to the woman paramedic as if it were a routine check up, and it's in that moment he realizes why his heart nearly stopped back there: he's in love with his best friend.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
It didn't go unnoticed by the First Order HQ that something was going on again at Batuu. It had cost Lt. Agnon a lot to cover the Masters obsession with this Boy, Jino... and he'd only been partly successful. And since then, HQ is keeping an eye on them. They can't afford another incident with the Master being blinded and unable to keep up his duties here. Agnons last hope is this bunch of scoundrels...
But it seems Sai already lost all his hope...
Tumblr media
Jeb, quietly so Sai can't hear them, he's already worried enough: "He's still stunned. And we can't help him."
Tumblr media
Kiyoshi: "Maybe it is for the best. He'd only freak out and scare Ji Ho over the Bond." Jeb: "Hm." They decided to let Vlad be. He looked quite happy. As if he was thinking of good memories with Ji Ho...
Tumblr media
Lt. Agnon is supposed to be on duty here - but that doesn't mean he has to watch them all the time, right? So he and the droids tried to stall the Master and Jino's departure... And he made sure to loudly communicate with the TIE fighter crew about the Master's plans to bring Jino away from Batuu...
Tumblr media
Dammit! They have to do something or Ji Ho will be kidnapped! This Hondo guy had claimed the 'Escape from Batuu' book was just fan fiction. But until now, everything had turned out as true. Except for the meteorite stuff. But the Boys already experienced the connection between Val and Jino and Vlad and Jo Ho...
Tumblr media
Sai noticed Lt. Agnons absence from the guard room. He and the droids were busy with - whatever stuff First Order personnel is busy with... So Saiwa started to scan their holding cell...
Tumblr media
Their magic might be blocked down here in the cells - but Saiwa has his own kind of 'magic' - his hacker skills. There is a camera in each of the cells. And this camera sends the recordings - somewhere. And so Sai started to redirected this 'somewhere' to Batuu's orbit - to Great A'Tuin II. Gladly the communications are fully functional again and Sai hoped he could reach Rubyn, Kesuke or Dayn so they could help them out of here! Before this Master brings Ji Ho somewhere else - or them to the prison planet ö.ö'
Tumblr media
And really - the huge monitor at Great A'Tuin's bridge crackled to life. But it failed to conect with Rubyn, Dayn or Kesuke. It seems only Lenny saw Saiwa in the prison cell down at Batuu...
Tumblr media
And maybe two other certain members of the 'crew' ^^'
Tumblr media
Lenny: "Mreau!" Malfoy: "Batoook!" Skully: "Right, we are going to get those Boys outta there!"
Tumblr media
They met at the 'meadow', Skully adjusted the camera. Skully: " 'kay - looks good so far... "
Tumblr media
Skully: "Malfoy, a bit more to the left - no! My left! Aaaand action! - or whenever you finished your bowl, Lenny..."
Tumblr media
Just a little later at Oga's Cantina at Batuu: DJ R3-X: "Guys! It's Lenny!"
Tumblr media
And so Lenny, Malfoy, Axl, the axolotl and Skully started their broadcast to get the Boys out of prison. Because who else is going to feed them and clean up after them?
The folks at the Cantina started to make plans. Of course they are going to assist Lenny, the Legendary and his friends!
Cora, the traitor: "Dammit! We're screwed!" Vanel: "Ach, I shouldn't have listened to you! I'm out! Here's your money back. We stand no chance against Lenny!"
Tumblr media
In the background of the broadcast, Skully was playing 'Fairytale of New York':
'It was Christmas Eve babe In the drunk tank An old man said to me, won't see another one And then he sang a song The Rare Old Mountain Dew I turned my face away And dreamed about you'
Fairytale of New York - The Pogues (Makes me cry every time I hear/watch it)
