hot take but Vriska was almost a perfect character until Hussie decided to make retconning part of Homestuck and have it so Vriska remaining an asshole and not having the character development she originally had was the key to finishing off the big bad of the story and giving everyone a “happy ending”

Catra is also the same in that instead of embracing the fact she tried killing an entire planet and caused the death (?) of Glimmer’s mother they just speed run her development so she can snog Adora at the end

Also would’ve been better if Vriska and Catra became girlfriends

#rambles #Like I want more toxic female characters but can people not be cowards about it?#I can’t say much on she/ra cause I couldn’t get myself to watch much of it #But catra is basically Vriska in a different font so I’m including her in my criticisms #Homura’s the only toxic female character (at the top of my head) that I think the narrative doesn’t ignore her toxicity #But also doesn’t needlessly villainise her either (a lot of it is due to her own self hatred)#I need to watch Utena though
