The Importance of Quality Glass in Your Home
Windows are more than just a source of natural light; they are essential for ventilation, insulation, and protection. Enhancing Home Value
One of the most significant benefits of investing in glass replacement services is the potential to increase your home's value. Modern, energy-efficient windows not only improve the appearance of your home but also contribute to its overall efficiency. New windows can enhance curb appeal, making your home more attractive to potential buyers. As a trusted general contractor, Quest Restoration Inc ensures that your glass replacement project is completed to the highest standards. We use only the best materials and the latest techniques to ensure that your new windows are not only beautiful but also durable and efficient.
Improving Security
Home security is a top priority for most homeowners, and your windows play a crucial role in protecting your home from potential intruders. How To Choose Paint Colors For The Exterior Of Your House: Home Remodeling Brooklyn NY
Home remodelling in Brooklyn, NY, is an exciting endeavour, and choosing the perfect paint colors for the exterior of your house is a critical aspect of the process. This blog will walk you through essential tips for selecting the right paint colors to transform your home's appearance and enhance its curb appeal. Whether planning a full-scale renovation or simply wanting to refresh your house's exterior, these tips will help you make the best decision.
Consider Your Home's Architectural Style and Era:
When selecting paint colors for your home exterior, it's essential to consider its architectural style and the era in which it was built. Historical homes in Brooklyn, NY, may have specific color schemes associated with their period, so research these when planning your home remodelling project. For modern homes, consider colors that complement your home's architectural lines and features.
Evaluate Your Neighborhood:
Take a walk around your neighbourhood and pay attention to the color schemes of nearby homes. While you want your home to stand out, it's essential to maintain harmony with the surrounding area. Choose colors that work well with other homes in the area, and avoid overly bold or bright colors that may clash with the general aesthetic of the neighbourhood.
Think About Your Home's Landscape:
The landscape surrounding your home can have a significant impact on the overall appearance of your house. When choosing paint colors, consider how they will interact with your garden, trees, and other natural features. Opt for colors that complement your landscaping or provide a pleasing contrast.
Test Your Choices:
Before committing to a specific color scheme for your home remodelling project in Brooklyn, NY, purchase small samples of your chosen paint colors. Apply these to different areas of your home's exterior and observe them at various times of the day and under different lighting conditions. This will help you determine how the colors look together and how they change under different circumstances.
Consider the Functionality and Maintenance:
While aesthetics are important, it's also essential to consider the functionality and maintenance of your chosen paint colors. Lighter colors may show dirt and stains more easily, while darker colors can absorb more heat, leading to higher cooling costs in the summer. Opt for high-quality, durable paint that will withstand the test of time and protect your home from the elements.
Conclusion:
Choosing the perfect paint colors for the exterior of your house is an important aspect of any home remodelling in Brooklyn, NY. By considering your home's architectural style, the surrounding neighbourhood, your landscape, and the functionality and maintenance of your chosen colors, you can create a stunning exterior that complements your home and enhances its curb appeal. With careful planning and attention to detail, you can transform your house into a beautiful and inviting space that you'll be proud to call home.

I feel like I might be overthinking this, but I honestly think those home renovation shows push patriachal gender roles and stereotypes in their own way. A lot them typically consist of a man and woman duo (sometimes a married couple), the woman is always the designer who nags and frets about the colour palette and overall look of a home because that's typically seen as a feminine thing. Meanwhile the man is always the contractor and the one who actually does a lot of the dirty work cause obviously men are the ones who would want to build things and not be concerned with things like paint colour and what furniture and accents will look best with that funky accent wall his female cohost picked. Not to mention the fact that many of them feature scenes poking fun at women for not knowing how to use power tools cause of course dumb females don't know anything about building and assembling things. It's very subtle mind you, but there's a consistent pattern.
#home renovation#hgtv#idk its just a pattern ive noticed#as someone who watches A LOT of HGTV and Magnolia Network#some of the modern ones seem to be less formulatic in this aspect but man those early to mid 2000 shows were needlessly gendered#there is nate and jeremiah as well but i feel like they fulfil a stereotype as well#one man is more feminine and is the designer and the other is more masculine and is a contractor

How can I bribe you into helping me get a job in the industry, other than promising my undying love, which you already have <3
The industry is horrible and awful, low pay, long hours, no real chance of advancing.
Whenever people touring the station or new interns ask me for advice, I always tell them to change careers lol
#ask#plus; i'm a producer for a statewide channel sure; but it's nothing huge or glam#like;; i've gotten to work with celebrities but that's more luck than normal operations#and i've said 'i don't hate what i'm doing i hate where i do it' so much for so long that i don't even believe it anymore#i would only wish a career in television on people i hate#but i do try to be even minded as best i can; like i'm acutely aware i work in probably one of the most toxic environments in the state#i've been sexually harassed; grabbed; locked in a room and screamed at by a psycho freelance producer#been injured and seen graphic injuries that happened because of incompetence; seen theft and assault#and had the men at work get aggressive with me because i'm the youngest and shortest and only woman#told by management i was only given opportunities because i'm a woman and it looks better for their image if they pretend to put me up fron#had my bosses retaliate against me for refusing to do illegal things for them#to the point where i was below the poverty line for several months because of it#told by hr that i have no right to complain about anything because even though i run their biggest show i'm just a contractor#had my work stolen and other people's names put on it so those people get the emmys that my work has earned#and lied to about pay rates so I wouldn't know I'm paid less than the men who have fewer responsibilities and less experience than i do#and now they're waging a war against LGBT employees by promoting ultra-right viewpoints and banning mentions of pride#so no i really don't want to help bring anyone into this environment#every day driving in and driving home i just think about driving my car into a concrete wall#i'm looking for a new job i promise

Hello, I'm alive, but it feels like barely.
Owning a home currently feels like a 6/10. I called about a crooked glass wall on a walk in shower and have ended up having the entire bathroom ripped up because it was a DIY job that didn't even include a shower pan underneath the walk in shower. No water proofing up the walls, the walls were just screwed on and not even sealed, or under the floor. Just tile, a thin set cement (a porous material by the way) and wooden subflooring. Between that and old damage from powder post beetles (I know they had had some but were dealt with before I bought the house) there's barely an joists either. We keep ripping up more and more floor trying to find a solid joist.
I'm also hosting two parties this weekend, and my partner is in town and this is all in my guest bathroom with the nicest shower. I have a second shower thankfully but it's a dim, closet of a thing that I'm literally using as a closet.
It's also thousands and thousands of dollars that I was hoping to do fun/nice upgrades to my house with. And then some.
I just keep reminding myself my mortgage is hundreds less than rent in a comparable place would be so I'm still ahead, this is what savings is for, it's not affecting my day to day budget and my dad has told me he'll step in when I reach the limit of what I'm comfortable with savings wise, just "do it right".
So I'm tired and stressed to my limits but reminding myself it could be worse.
#home ownership#the irony is the bathroom was so cool and one of the selling points of the house for me#but I like and trust my contractor#and she's a woman which is cool

for those of you who grew up in a detached house with a garage (like the stereotypical usually suburban single family home) (ie primarily aimed at americans and canadians here and maybe some australians) did you have a separate Garage Fridge? like a fridge + freezer unit that was totally separate from the one you used in your kitchen for daily stuff?
#we always had one but my dad was a contractor and the garage was like his quasi home office???? lol#but yeah he had a lot of stuff in there that normie dads usually dont have but ive seen references to the Garage Fridge#idrk how common it is. also he loves to fish so theres like always stacks of frozen vacuum sealed bags of fish in the freezer#ours had like.... frozen summer treats like popsicles etc. and the aforementioned fish. and Fun Beverages both alcoholic and not#my parents rarely agreed to buy orange fanta or other fun stuff like that and when they did they kept it in the Garage Fridge
