It's become something of a tradition now that I like to do a PEANUTS homage sometime around the holidays, and this idea seemed like it would be too fun to not do, even though my sense of humor is WAY more sarcastic than Schulz's. lol And also... People, Heidi is NOT mean to me! lol. We are a couple and we goof around and play. Some of you take this strip WAY too seriously. lol. Calm down. (Also, there will be a EXTRA strip on Christmas Day, so enjoy and have a happy Whatever!)

a very low-effort one today, but I did Anise Tatlin from Tales of the Abyss! Took a sketch out of my sketchbook and outlined/colored it :P

In honor of Christmas Eve, I present…
My very Christmas-themed Dandy’s World self insert OC!

I know there are other Bella bells out there but I didn’t know that when I first created her so. So shush
She’s the exaggerated cartoon version of me, but like in a good way and not like my other inserts that I’ve never posted about

Pinkamina ahh twisted
Not even gonna try to label the info card as mine, because if someone steals it that means I’ve made it as an artist

back here again (won't finish it today because I need to help my mom with stuff for the Seventh day of Passover and then there's my preparation for the Seventh day of Passover and then there's the actual Seventh day of Passover that starts at like? 7? so I'm just starting for now because I want to rewatch it before reading the novelization)

it is a bit weird if you think about it that every time i try to research a traditional indigenous technique or craft or food all I find are white people doing it recreationally and claiming expertise

Today's compilation:
The Big 80's - Christmas 2001 Holiday / New Wave / Alternative Rock
Uhh, kinda seems like Rhino Records may've leaned heavily on another Christmas comp that'd been put out in 1995 in order to put this one together and then slap a VH1 logo on it to give it an extra 80s feel. Labels could get away with doing this sort of sneaky stuff in 2001, but now with a site like Discogs at our disposal, we can see that this album and Oglio Records' The Edge of Christmas had eight songs in common, making for a majority of the tracklist on each album.
Anyway, hope everyone's having a safe and merry Christmas 🎄. This comp may largely be a retread of another one, but it's still the first 80s-themed and new wavy Christmas comp that I've ever collected; which is kind of preposterous, considering how much I love The Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping," that Blondie-imitated classic with the simple sing-songy, monotonish melody and the doubled vocal and the chorus of horns. God, what a quirky masterpiece that thing really was—the biggest new wave Christmas standard there ever was and a song no self-respecting new wave Christmas comp that was released after 1981 could ever be anything without.
And speaking of quirkiness, the solo queen of art pop-and-rock, Kate Bush, is on here too. Usually, I just really cannot with this lady, because I find her way too overly whimsical, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that "December Will Be Magic Again" is pretty wonderful when she gets to its choruses, where she surges vocally and we get infusions of ring-jing-jinging bells too👍.
Plus, we get a bluesy, heartfelt cover of "Please Come Home for Christmas" by Pat Benatar, Queen's glammy "Thank God It's Christmas," Bowie and Bing Crosby's intergenerational classic of "Peace on Earth / Little Drummer Boy," and Welsh band The Alarm's cover of John & Yoko and the Plastic Ono Band's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)." All great tunes to spread some 1980s Christmas cheer with, even if some of them weren't actually released in the 80s...but I'm not gonna Grinch out on something like that today 😅.
Happy holidays everyone!
Highlights:
The Waitresses - "Christmas Wrapping" Pat Benatar - "Please Come Home for Christmas" Queen - "Thank God It's Christmas" David Bowie & Bing Crosby - "Peace on Earth / Little Drummer Boy" Kate Bush - "December Will Be Magic Again" The Alarm - "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)"
