hereâs angsty servant!Aveline! I had so much fun designing her ^^Â
lore under the cut for those interested (some spoilers for LB 2):Â
Aveline dies in Lostbelt 2. Sigurd hadnât been strong enough to stop it; and his blade had cleaved through her neck as cleanly as flame through snow.Â
Aveline dies, and the hope for humanity dies with her.Â
The Shadow Border is quiet. Mash blames herself, Goredolf is a loss for words, and Da Vinci mourns quietly through her work. But thereâs little left to do - when Humanityâs final master is dead, what hope is there?Â
What theyâve forgotten is this: when youâve already saved the world once, the world does not forget. It keeps your name, stores it; and when the time comes, it asks you this:Â
ââŠDo you still want to save the world and protect the ones you love?âÂ
And for Aveline - the one who lost the man she loved, the world she saved, the one who kept losing - says yes.Â
*Â
Sheâs a servant now, or something along those lines. Da Vinci runs some scans and says sheâs likely an agent of the Counterforce, those who are summoned at the behest of the world, like Emiya and Kiritsugu. Sheâs certainly got the tortured disposition down.Â
What she still canât answer, however, is why Aveline manifests as a Berserker.Â
The problem is, Da Vinci doesnât realize that Aveline is guilty, and has been guilty, since the Temple of Time. When youâve been tasked with saving Humanity, when youâve borne that burden for what seemed like ages, and when you watch the man you love die and the world go to hell again at what seemed like the end of your journey, what else do you do but blame yourself?Â
So Aveline leverages her madness. She uses it, hones it, letâs it sharpen her wits and the sickle staff she uses to drive into her opponents. The madness enhancement is a strange feeling, but after dodging death once, she wonât let anything happen to anyone ever again.Â
She will protect everyone.Â
That is her promise and her threat.Â
(Some clearer /additional notes because I canât help myself:Â
Ok so this is basically an AU where Sigurd wasnât strong enough to stop Surtur (who was possessing him) from killing Aveline in the beginning of Lostbelt 2. Aveline dies and is basically asked to be an agent of the counterforce. she agrees Â
Aveline is a Berserker whose madness centers on protecting. This is born from her guilt over Doctor Roman & Da Vinciâs death, and Humanityâs destruction in Part 2 (logically its not her fault, but she still blames herself a la Kadoc in thinking that âIf only I had been a better mage, this would not have happenedâ). Because of this, she will go through great lengths to ensure no one else she loves dies, even if this means going against her masterâs wishes Â
Avelineâs weapon is technically a very long sickle, but its shaped like a staff because if Aveline had died any other time before Solomon, she wouldâve manifested as a Caster, not a BerserkerÂ
Her design is loosely based on the original master outfit I designed for her Part 1 human self, but its mostly just a random hodge-podge of every single design choice I ever liked (that includes the random lamp I added to the sickle; I just thought it looked rlly cool lol)Â

just saw your reblog on the "why men oppress women" post and HOLY CRAP ive never seen an explanation that gave me that kind of clarity. i can't seem to find any academic work that explores it in detail (although stuff isnt rlly very accessible here) but your reblog seems super logical. ik it's not like a formal paper or anything but still đ
was wondering if you have any other resources on this? have a nice day đ
Well, itâs kind of a hodge podge of things Iâve read by other lay women, second wave feminist essays or excerpts, and my own conclusions. The faulty printer analogy is entirely mine, as a person who works with uncooperative printers. Realizing men see us as objects with certain functions goes a long way toward explaining their anger when we simply behave as people. Steinem and others have written of menâs desire for control of reproduction, and more and more we're finding out that âcommon knowledgeâ about reproduction is actually several lies knowingly told and taught by men. Plenty of people will do things just for the sake of it, but things that have staying power tend to have a point behind it. Laws against premarital sex, against homosexuality, against abortion, against divorce, etc. start to make a lot of sense when you realize the point is so a man gets to reproduce and know itâs his.
