“What if the boys were moodulated”presented in 4 doodle pages!
credits to @flowery-laser-blasts for the og idea! check out her post
This is my take on how the scenes would go if Drakken and Ron are controlled by emotions. Generally, I think that both of their skills shine more when they have confidence and let it loose (especially Ron).
For example, Ron’s charisma will increase along with skills like crafting and being the Jack of all trades. Drakken will be able to create his inventions a lot faster due to heighten emotions. His decision making is stronger but may execute them recklessly.
In Love:
Ron has all the confidence that he rarely shows, and directs it at Kim, only her. Every move he makes to woo Kim chips away her barrier of resistance. Ron would continue to show the puppy love affection, including physical touch (hugs galore). Ron asks her to the parade festival, convincing her with flowers.
Drakken goes full The way of the Househusband mode: cooking, cleaning, and showering Shego with gifts and affection every chance he gets. Heck, he’ll even make new gadgets just to benefit Shego in any way. Shego is weirded out by his behavior but inwardly crumbles at his affections. However, she gets concerned when Drakken gradually loses his ambitions to take over the world, which she didn’t want him to lose that. Well maybe a bit more love time wouldn’t hurt as Drakken begs her to go with him to the parade as a date. (He gave her the pout and dinner)
At the Parade:
Shego of course agreed to the festival date for fun. After overhearing about the moodulator she wants to get it to break Drakken out of control and get back to evil ambitions OR perhaps control Drakken for herself and make things easier.
She decided to use the E.M.A on the moodulator (even tho she has no idea how it works but she’ll try it) after eavesdropping on Kim and the Inventor. But girlie doesn’t know shit about inventions so she accidentally charged the moodulator to extreme anger
Extremely angry Drakken… bites. ha r d.
yeah he wrecks havoc and she loves the power he shows but he lacks the direction he had in the first place. So Shego ultimately tries to shut him down from being a mindless zombie
Shego had to use her upmost ability to shut Drakken down and not destroy himself at the parade. So at the end, she puts a muzzle on him after dragging him out of the scene. Then perhaps an aggressive kiss sets Drakken on a sudden emotional overdrive that broke the chip, which set him free from the moodulator.
In my take of Kim trying to reject Ron is that she feels he’s been a bit off and not truly himself. Like she loves the affection but the sudden bursts of emotions during the whole time makes her suspicious. Therefore Kim tried rejecting Ron at the festival
but then right as Kim tried to tell Ron her suspicions, the moodulator changes and angry Ron misunderstands the rejection and yeah…
Kim found out about the moodulator… and internally was torn about whether or not Ron’s emphasized feelings were genuine.
Ron channels his anger on not being enough for Kim and explodes with monkey kung fu, wrecking havoc at the parade. (I noticed that Ron gets the powers when his emotions take over him)
And of course kim isn’t going to be a sitting duck so she gets back with her martial art skills. They had a battle similar to what Hiro and Kim had in the exchange ep. Lowkey Kim finds it attractive of him fighting like that.
The chip breaks after they come at a draw in the fight. Ron panicked after realizing what he did to Kim and frantically apologizes but Kim kept the conversation playful to cover up the awkward confrontations until SO THE DRAMA MOVIE

[ 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 ] | [ 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 ] | [ 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 ]
“For someone who claims to be a scientist, you sure aren’t very smart.”
You glance down at Hiro’s messy notebook filled with scrawls and doodles, even a simple two-plus-two equation scribbled on one side. The boy in question just groans in response, his head on his desk.
“Shut up,” He grumbles, trying to swat you away with an annoyed hand. “Don’t you have a job or something?”
“In fact, I do! And I’m getting paid by my boss to bring coffee up to you, so be grateful, you stinkbug.” You practically push him off the chair, and he slides onto the floor with a defeated and very drawn-out groan of complaint.
“Tadashiiiii, get her away!” Hiro whines loudly. His brother is stretched on his bed in a relaxed position, typing away on his phone, seemingly engrossed in a conversation.
“Mmhm, have fun, kids,” He hums in response, not even bothering to look up. You smirk, sitting on Hiro’s chair and flipping through his notebook. He doesn’t do anything to stop you, merely moving to sit cross-legged on the floor as he absentmindedly toys with his MegaBot.
It’d been over a week since you started working at the Lucky Cat cafe, having gotten to know the two Hamada brothers a little more since your first few days there. Over time, you’d learnt that Tadashi was the go-to for anything under the sun while Hiro…is there.
Well, he does have some merit to him, you suppose. He’d helped you fix the espresso machine when it broke down during a shift once without a grumble, though he did express repayment in the form of many cups of coffee provided by you. However, the two of you were somewhat like oil and water — you just didn’t mix well.
There were occasions where you did share the same view, of course, such as Tadashi’s love life and, likewise, your love for coffee. Hangouts during your break time were mainly spent in their room, talking gaily about trivial things ranging from their go-to WackDonald’s order, to heavy topics such as the discovery of mummies.
Conversations were never dull, to say the least.
“I understand nothing,” You hand back the notepad with a blank smile, having leafed through pages and pages of equations and barely legible handwriting. Hiro scoffs, taking it from you.
“For a self-proclaimed journalist, you’re not very bright.”
“Whatever,” You roll your eyes, taking a sip from the mug on his desk you’ve claimed as yours. Hiro’s own cup sits snugly in a corner, and dried coffee stains are all that’s left after he’s chugged it all down in the span of an hour.
It’s your shift's break time, and you decided to hang out with Hiro and Tadashi because why not? You’re bored, and one is significantly better to be around. (It’s Tadashi.)
“Tadashi, you need a refill?” You ask, hesitating when you see his cup is still filled to the brim with his mocha. Hiro snorts at his brother’s gaze that’s trained solely on his phone screen, shaking his head no in response to your unanswered question.
“It’s fine. He’s busy flirting.”
“I am not!” Tadashi huffs when he registers Hiro’s words, setting down the phone and glaring at the little punk with cheeks so red they could rival even the neon signboard opposite the cafe.
“Oooo, does Tadashi have a crush?” You remark with a cheeky grin, giggling mischievously as Hiro snickers with you. You fist bump him subtly, eyes filled with pure intrigue and evil curiosity directed at the oldest. “So, who’s she?”
“ ‘She’ is none of your business.” He lays back down, turns his phone off and grabs a book from his bedside shelf. He opens it to a random page, furiously reading the words as if it’d help to ignore whatever expressions are on your face. “I swear, the only time the two of you work together, and it’s to mess with me.” He mutters under his breath.
“Mmhm.” Hiro chooses to let it go, but only for now. You chuckle, getting back up and dusting off your jeans. You check your watch, only to see that it’s reaching the end of your break time. “You staying for dinner?” You hum in thought at the question, recalling Sakura saying something about being out tonight.
“Sure,” You reply with a shrug, “I don’t think anyone’s gonna be home. Why? You’ll miss me that much already?” You tease with a toothy grin, knowing full well that it’d be the opposite. Hiro gags in response, sticking his tongue out in disgust.
“You wish. Cass just asked us to tell you to stay for dinner anytime. But I’d prefer it if you didn’t.” He says snarkily, crossing his arms.
“Well, it’s your lucky day. I’ll be staying for dinner the whole week!” You cheer, doing jazz hands to irritate him even further. Hiro rolls his eyes, getting back up from the floor and reclaiming the chair.
“See you later!” You call over your shoulder as you exit their room, heading back downstairs to the cafe, where you resume your usual duties. Cass welcomes you with a smile, and you tie your apron back on before stepping behind the counter, falling back into your regular routine of handling the espresso machine with expertise.
The hours pass quickly, but you can feel the subtle ache in your muscles gradually builds up. You hand another cup of coffee to a customer with an automatic smile, your cheeks numb to the sensation. Once they leave, your shoulders sag in relief. Leaning back with a weary smile, your back longs for the sweet comfort of your bed and a massage.
“You alright, hon’?” Looking up at Cass, you send her a weary smile in response to her concerned question. “I’ll be fine, but I might go back home right after dinner,” You reply with a breathy chuckle.
“Okay, just make sure to text us when you’re back.” You follow her up the stairs once she’s done closing the cafe, having helped clear and wipe down the tables. The kitchen is familiar to you now, having grabbed many meals from the fridge and heated them up in the microwave.
“I think you’ll really like the menu tonight. It’s gonna be mac n’ cheese!” She cheers, heading over to the stove and starting to prepare dinner. Opening the drawers that store the cutlery and plates, you lay them on the table in their usual spots. One for Hiro, one for Tadashi, one for Cass, and one for you.
“Could you call the boys down for me? My hands are a little full right now,” She chuckles, nodding her chin to the container of flour in her arms, a spoon in her free hand to scoop out the needed amount. You send her a silly two-fingered salute, skipping back up the stairs to summon the two Hamada brothers.
“I’m comin’ in, don’t be naked, please!” You warn playfully with a single knock on their door before entering.
“Didn’t know you were such a pervert.”
“Am not! I just prefer to keep my eyes untainted by your hideous self,” You gasp, offended by Hiro’s words. He merely laughs in response, turning his chair to face you and getting up.
“What’s for dinner tonight?”
“Mac n’ cheese.” Tadashi beams at your response, slinging an arm around your shoulders. He does the same to Hiro, the sudden weight almost knocking the breath out of you. “Now, now, children. Get along during dinner, and don’t leave any leftovers.”
Hiro bats his arm away with a glare. “I can behave myself. I’m not a child, unlike a certain someone.”
“You’re literally the same age as me!”
“And yet, so much more mature.” He smirks. Your jaw drops at his reply, struggling to fire back a retort.
“Drop dead.” You grumble instead, returning down the stairs with your mood instantly soured.
“Don’t you think that might’ve been a little much?”
“What? I was just stating facts!”
Tadashi raises a brow. Hiro holds his defiant stare for a few moments, only to groan exaggeratedly with a roll of his eyes as he relents. “Fine. I’ll be nicer. But she can take it; that’s our whole thing!”
“Really? Being mean is your go-to conversation starter?”
“It works, doesn’t it?”
Unable to hide his amused smile, Tadashi grabs Hiro and ruffles his hair roughly with a soft laugh. “Be nicer.” He reminds before letting go and heading downstairs.
“Ugh,” Hiro mutters, trying to use his fingers to comb his hair back into his usual style.
“Something wrong dear?” Cass asks as you slide into your seat. You take a deep breath and exhale, calming yourself before perking up and shaking your head. “I’m fine, don’t worry!”
“If you say so…”
You’re cheered up by the pot of mac ‘n cheese she sets down in the middle of the table, the heavenly smell filling the room and making your stomach rumble. Tadashi slides into the seat on your left while Cass sits on your right, placing down a plate of garlic bread and a small bowl of salad at the same time.
Spotting Hiro walking down the stairs, you turn your head away, pretending not to see him as he sits opposite you. You ladle a portion of the cheesy goodness onto your plate, beginning to crunch down on a slice of garlic bread after. A happy hum alerts Cass to your bright smile,
her heart practically melting at how much you’re enjoying the simple home-cooked meal.
“Since you’re staying for dinner the whole week, is there anything you’re craving? Just let me know so I can drop by the grocery store and grab whatever I need.”
You shake your head, not wanting to inconvenience her further than you already have. Being hired as a part-timer and even having meals for free is more than enough for you.
Swallowing down the last of your garlic bread, you clear your throat. “I crave just about anything you make, Cass.”
You’re suddenly engulfed in a warm side hug, smiling awkwardly until she finally lets go. Her fingers grip your shoulders excitedly, eyes sparkling with excitement. “Got it. I’ll pull out all the stops for some hot wings on Wednesday!”
“Are those the ones so hot they’ll melt our faces off?” Hiro asks, suddenly interested in the conversation. He looks up from shovelling spoonfuls of mac n’ cheese in his mouth, talking through his chews.
Cass reaches over and smacks his arm lightly. “No talking with food in your mouth, young man.” She scolds lightly, “But yes, they’ll melt your faces off, so make sure you’re prepared!”
“Can’t wait.” Hiro grins widely, chomping down on some garlic bread. “To see you cry from the spice.”
“Oh no. I can handle my spice, little one. You’re the one who should prepare a carton of milk when your tongue’s practically melting.” You shake your head with a scoff.
“Says you, loser.”
“You’re the loser.”
“I know you are, but what am I?”
“A loser.”
“Okay, what did we say about behaving?” Tadashi reprimands you both. Your cheeks warm, slouching in your seat from embarrassment at how immature you were being. The Hamada family (save for Hiro) welcomed you with open arms, only for you to repay them by acting like a child.
“He started it….” You protest weakly, only to purse your lips into a pout when Tadashi gives you a stern look. Hiro is slumped in a similar position, only to pick up his spoon to eat another mouthful of mac n’ cheese.
“Hiro.”
“Fine,” Hiro heaves an exaggerated sigh. “I’m sorry.”
Tadashi looks back at you, raising his brows expectantly. You look back at Hiro, who’s also waiting for you to reciprocate his apology. You straighten your back, sitting upright. “I’m sorry.”
Yeah, you could be the bigger person here. Besides, your aching muscles were already screaming at you for slouching. Tadashi sits back with a satisfied smile, continuing to eat while Cass watches the entire thing go down, stunned and unable to interject.
The rest of the meal continues in peace, with Cass making small talk and you responding in kind. Once the dinner is over, you stand up to do the dishes, wincing when your shoulders groan in protest. Cass spots your expression, gently moving you to sit back down.
“Hiro, would you be a dear and walk her back home?”
He parts his lips to protest, only to falter when he sees his brother’s pointed stare, recalling the conversation from earlier. “Fine,” He sighs, standing up and going downstairs.
“Thank you, I’ll see you tomorrow!” You wave goodbye to both of them who're cleaning up, walking downstairs and grabbing your bag along the way. To your surprise, Hiro holds the door open for you, exiting after you do.
“So, which way, loser?”
You glare at him. “That way, loser.”
Hiro has to jog to catch up to you, chuckling at your reaction. You walk side by side in silence and navigate the familiar streets before your steps slow to a halt. You look up at the sky, sniffing the air and spot dark clouds gathering in an ominous cluster above you.
“Wha-?”
“I smell rain.” You interrupt him. True enough, a loud rumble echoes through the sky and it starts to rain. “Damn it, I didn’t bring an umbrella.” You mutter, digging through your bag while Hiro automatically shifts his hoodie to cover his head.
“You didn’t bring an umbrella with you?” He frowns at your raised voice though he knows it’s because of the sound of rain pelting against hard surfaces, making it hard to hear, crossing his arms as the rain starts to come down harshly on the both of you. “Hey, it’s not like they said it was gonna rain tonight!” He defends himself.
“You’re right. I’m sorry. Let’s just find a shelter.”You spot a bus stop a short distance away, your shirt quickly getting soaked through. Hiro’s no better, his hoodie practically drenched by the time the both of you jog to the bus stop. He takes it off with a disgusted shiver, letting the soaked hoodie rest in a pile on the bus seat.
Luckily, no one else is around. You wring your hair, getting as much rainwater out of it as possible. “So, you can smell the rain?”
You glance up, nodding briefly. “Well, it’s kinda more like a weird sixth sense, but it only works moments before it starts raining.”
“That’s actually kinda cool,” He comments absentmindedly, twisting the end of his shirt to squeeze out the excess water from the rain. The rain continues drumming against the plastic roof and walls of the sheltered bus stop with force so harsh you’re almost sure the plastic will break.
Hiro’s subtle shiver doesn’t escape your notice, your body reacting automatically to the cold breeze that brushes past your bare skin. It’s chilly, you realise, sparing him a quick glance. Your arms wrap around yourself in a small hug, teeth chattering slightly as you try to control the involuntary shivers. Hiro’s no better off than you, sitting a short distance from you. He’s shivering nonstop, trembling hands clutching his thin shirt.
Should you?
There’s really nothing to lose, so may as well.
“Hey, loser.” His head snaps up, turning to look at you with a raised brow. “Get over here.” You order, gesturing for him to move closer. He purses his lips in thought, regarding you with a suspicion-filled gaze. “I’m not gonna hit you, so scooch your butt over here.”
He ignores the roll of your eyes, slowly moving over till he’s right next to you. Instead of pushing him away, however, you press yourself against his side. The sensation of his wet shirt sticking to the side of your arm makes you shudder, Hiro flinching away in surprise.
“What are you doing?” He says indignantly, using his elbow to shove you away. You scoff. “Calm down; I’m trying to conserve both our body heat. I thought you were a ‘scientist’, albeit fake.”
“I am a scientist.” Hiro retorts.
“Whatever you say, now get back over here so we both don’t freeze.”
He reluctantly gives in with a soft grumble, moving to sit next to you again. Your positions are awkward, but you decide it’d make do for now. San Fransokyo is beautiful, but the night weather can get unreasonably cold during the change of seasons. The rain continues to pelt against the sturdy plastic, and you watch it drip off the leaves of a tree nearby. The howling wind brushes against your ears again, and you instinctively draw closer to the boy next to you.
You feel his arm wrap around you, looking up in curiosity only to see him wince. “It’s freezing,” He allows himself to admit through a quick breath. Nodding in agreement, a sudden thud against the roof makes you both flinch. Looking up, you spot a branch that landed on top, having broken off from the nearby tree.
You glance at Hiro, meeting his eyes before the both of you dissolve into relieved laughter. Your shoulders shake with chuckles, wiping the tears that form in the corner of your eyes with a soft giggle. “Guess we’re both kinda scaredy cats, huh?”
“Says you; I wasn’t affected at all.” Hiro jokes with a grin, nudging your side. You narrow your eyes at him playfully. “Oh, I see where this is going, Einstein.”
“Einstein? Aren’t you admitting your inferior intelligence a little too soon?”
The bite in his words is less distinct than before, the usual harsh and condescending tone now softer, almost playful. “Mmhm, keep dreaming.” You hum in return, a relaxed smile on your lips as the once harsh rain starts to let up.
“How’s the progress on your microbots coming along?”
“You know about that?”
“Of course. Tadashi keeps me updated when he helps out at the cafe.” Hiro’s wide eyes elicit a gentle chuckle from you, shrugging nonchalantly at his surprise. “You ask about me?”
“No,” He frowns. “But it looks like it’s going well for you.”
“Yeah, well. What can I say? I’m just too smart for my own good sometimes.”
“Yeah, sometimes.” You snort, shaking your head. “Anyway, how’s it coming along?”
“It’s actually going pretty good,” He admits, “I got the base stuff down; I’m just having trouble with the headband configurations. Gotta code it out and everything. Luckily Tadashi offered to help look it over, and Wasabi offered to check my design.”
“Wasabi’s pretty cool. God, that day we met was a mess, wasn’t it?” You laugh, looking up at the clouds that are slowly parting, the rain slowing to a drizzle.
“Don’t even remind me. Carbon metal embrittlement was sick, but not sick enough for me to be covered in pink.” Hiro shakes his head.
“I thought it was pretty cool, actually.”
“ ‘Course you did.”
“What’s that supposed to mean, huh?” You shove him lightly, and he falls onto the bench with an amused laugh. You stand up, offering your hand to him. “Looks like the rain’s stopped. C’mon, I’ll wash your hoodie at my place - it’s the least I can do since you agreed to walk me back.” You grab the mentioned hoodie, nose scrunching when you register precisely how wet it is, the material heavy in your arms.
“Thanks.”
The road back to your apartment is riddled with puddles, and you sneak him a glance before jumping into one with a carefree smile, splashing Hiro slightly. He shoots you an annoyed glance, only to reciprocate the action and spray your jeans as he jumps into a giant puddle.
“Hey!” you protest, though his mischief-filled eyes are now searching for another puddle to jump in. The tension between you two has dissolved chiefly to some extent, and you find yourself actually enjoying the walk home. Maybe you’ll even bump him up into friend status if he continues being this nice.
“So, how’s your ‘journalism’ going?” He chooses to ask after the both of you have splashed each other to your fill, balancing himself along the side of the pavement with ease. The lack of cars on the road doesn’t help your worries, choosing to tug him back into the safer inner corner of the walkway.
“My ‘journalism’ is going fine, actually. I’ve been interviewing Tadashi about Baymax for a while now, and I think it’s gonna be a really solid article.” You say, pride stirring in your chest at the reminder of the various open tabs on your laptop back home, the Word document with your nearly complete article just waiting for you to conclude it.
“Sure, like he needs any help getting the word out there with your ‘journalism’.”
Your steps slow to a stop in the middle of a shallow puddle, brows furrowing in confusion at Hiro’s words. They weren’t filled with malice by any means, but they weren’t exactly pleasant to hear either.
“What?” Hiro turns to look at you with a cheery smile, beckoning for you to continue walking. You take a step toward him, crossing your arms.
“What do you mean ‘my journalism’?” You mimic his air quotes, your arms returning to cross over your chest as you wait for his answer.
“Uh”, He chuckles, “I just mean that Tadashi doesn’t need journalism to get the word out there about his awesome invention. Look, I’m not trying to insult you or anything, but…journalists can be kinda dumb sometimes.”
“Excuse me?”
“Look, take it from me. They write boring articles that ask Tadashi about his partner, the nerd lab, but never about his invention and the correct details. Journalists are dumb. ‘Cept for you, of course, but you’re gonna have to prove yourself.” He punches your side lightly jokingly, waiting for you to laugh at his joke.
Except you don’t.
You stand there with your arms crossed and narrowed eyes, glaring at the boy before you. “Journalism isn’t dumb.” You say slowly, stressing every word.
“Sure,” He shrugs it off. “But can we go now? My legs are kinda getting numb.”
“God, you’re such a jerk. How did I even think you were decent for a single second?”
“Woah, jerk? Dude, if this is about the journalism comment, I said except you, okay? Plus, I was only half-joking. Don’t take it seriously.” He raises his hands in mock surrender, only to yelp when you punch his arm harshly.
“What was that for?!”
“For being such a jerk. And for calling journalism dumb. I seriously can’t believe I was gonna bump you up into friend status.”
“Well, don’t then. It’s not like I asked to be your friend. And to be clear, you’re definitely never getting friend status from me either.” The both of you are glaring at each other now, the hostile tension rising with every passing second.
"Fine."
"Fine!"
"Good!"
"Good!”
You storm off with a scowl, not even bothering to look behind you to check if Hiro’s still following. A few streets down, and you finally calm down somewhat, glancing behind you to see no one except the bright streetlights. Guess he hadn’t bothered to continue walking you home.
A sudden sneeze sneaks up on you, doubling over as you sneeze not once, not twice, but thrice. Your nose feels stuffy, and your fatigued body feels sluggish. You look down at your hand, only to sneeze once more. You stand back up, sniffling.
“Shit.”

Yes!! For now I'm gonna dump the chibi doodles I made in paint when I was really bored one night lol I think I found a chibi style that suits me well for these types of silly doodles? It's all very pastel and looks kinda nice imo :o Anyway, if you have any character requests, just something you'd like from me, please please PLEAAASE LEAVE THEM IN MY INBOX/ASKS because I have an awful awful memory and tend to forget about things REALLY FAST 😭I hate it and wish I could change it, but my brain just doesn't cooperate on that front :/

Thank you for the ask!!
Started drawing in highschool for blueprints/drafting purposed, realized he actually quite likes it and now always carries a sketchbook
Mostly draws still life but sometimes does portraits and little doodles in paper corners
Really good at baking!!! As long as he sets a timer he's excellent
Less great at cooking- he gets distracted too easily and will accidentally set whatever he's making on fire
Has a bad habit of chewing on pens, has ruined at least three shirts from said pens exploding- Hiro finds this hilarious

PotP Ch 49 - Therapy, Tempers, and Triangles: Part 3
"Mr. Quirinson.... a word, if you please."
Varian stalled when he heard Granville's voice behind him. She didn't sound happy.
He closed the door to his lab and turned to greet her. "Yes, Professor?"
She frowned and held up a piece of paper covered in his handwriting, a bunch of math equations, and various symbols.
"While I'm impressed by your knowledge of ancient typography from antiquity, you can't use alchemy symbols in place of real words."
Varian sighed and tilted his head towards the ceiling. Granville ignored this as she read the paper once more.
"You have cutesy Sun and Moon doodles in place of gold and silver.... and... what is this?"
She pointed to a drawing of a black pointy spike.
"It's.... um... a rock..." He admitted.
"And what do rocks have to do with a time machine?"
Varian bit his lip, unwilling to answer.
Now it was Granville's turn to sigh in exasperation.
"Varian this is not presentable work. I can't turn this into the editor at the American Scientific Magazine, nor can it even move on to being peer reviewed yet...."
She stopped suddenly as a thought crossed her mind.
"And wasn't young Mr. Hamada supposed to be helping you write this essay? Are you not claiming equal ownership of this project?"
Varian really didn't want to answer that question.
"Listen... Hiro can have all the credit. He can write the essay and take all the glory, b-but I just don't have time to fool with this."
"That is not an acceptable response Mr. Quirison."
Varian paused in his escape, but refused to turn around and face the dean.
She didn't give him a choice as she walked around to meet him.
"Do you really think I'm just going to let you give up after hitting a single speed bump?"
"I'm not giving up on the portal." He insisted. "Far from it. I need to focus on getting it to work how I need it to, and I can't keep getting distracted by essays and interviews."
"Distractions?" Granville raised an eyebrow. "Is that how you see this?"
She pointed back at the paper.
"Varian, this is your future we're talking about here. Do you have any idea what this can do for you, for your career, or for the entire scientific community?"
Varian didn't respond, still refusing to look at her.
"Varian this could win you a Nobel Prize! Do you understand what that means? That's one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a scientist for his work. It could lead to government grants, tenure at a university of your choice, maybe even a team to study under you and assist in future projects... You'll have the ability to continue your work and research without worry of losing funds and could revolutionize the entire field of physics. Why it's more than any scientist could ever hope for-"
"But not me. I don't want it."
Granville looked aghast, but Varian continued on before she could say anything more.
"Look, I'm sure everything you're talking about is really, really nice, but it's not what I'm here for. You said, if I attended SFIT that I would be granted the means to build a portal home. I didn't agree to any of ... of this."
He gestured towards the essay.
"I don't mean to disappoint you, but I just do not care about any prizes or tenures."
Granville straightened a little and her jaw tightened. Varian could tell she was about to launch into another lecture. He didn't let her.
"Get Hiro to do it. He can have all of those great things and you can still have a prize student show off, just like you want."
He pushed past her, ignoring her offended expression, and hurried down the hall before she could get another word in edgewise.
------------------------
Having made his escape from Granville, Varian was almost home free. All he needed to do was make a quick stop at the chim-lab to 'borrow' a spectrograph, and then he would be on his way to meet with Salma again.
However, he slowed as he heard a familiar voice as he passed by the communal labs.
"Varian did that?" Wasabi asked aghast.
"Ummm... yeah." Came Tadashi's hesitant reply.
Varian couldn't help but peek inside, being very careful not to be seen.
Tadashi was showing everyone his now bandaged wrist as the rest of their friends looked on with concern.
"I don't think he meant to do it." Tadashi continued. "He just... doesn't know his own strength."
Varian only felt shame at that. It'd have been much easier to stay angry at Tadashi had the other teen placed all the blame on him, but he didn't and Varian was quickly running out of self-justifications.
"But still..." Wasabi shook his head disapprovingly.
"What were you fighting over?" Fred asked.
"I kinda of told him about the studies we did on the amber." He sheepishly admitted.
Gogo rolled her eyes and face palmed.
"Really, Tadashi? What made you think that was a good idea?"
"I knew we shouldn't have taken it." Honey Lemon pouted, and Varian was hit with the sinking realization that they were all involved in taking the amber.
"We need to know what it is?" Tadashi insisted.
"Why?" Wasabi asked.
"Varian claims that it's the key to opening the portal. What if he's right? What do we do then?"
"I think what Wasabi means is... why do we need to know what it's made of?" Fred offered. "It's magic. Same as everything else in his world. What really matters is how do we stop him from leaving without us?"
Tadashi hung his head and pouted.
"I guess..." He finally admitted. "B-but it wouldn't hurt to know, surely. If they are connected to these rocks, maybe the answer to stopping them lies with with it?"
"Since when are we trying to stop these rocks?" Gogo asked. "I thought we were just trying to keep Varian safe?"
"We are... but... maybe helping him requires stopping the thing that caused it to all go wrong in the first place? After all that's the whole reason why that Rapunzel woman came here to begin with."
"So you think, that if we solve the problem with the rocks and save their home, then... th-then they won't come after Varian anymore." Honey Lemon mused.
"Exactly."
"Sounds reasonable." Wasabi shrugged.
Varian's heart pounded in his ears. They hadn't a clue what they were getting into and he didn't know how to stop them.
"Yeah, it does... but Varian isn't reasonable."
Everyone turned to look to Hiro. He had quietly sat in the back up till now.
Those words stung, and Varian's breath hitched.
"I... I don't know if.... If there's any point in trying to stop him from leaving."
.....
Honey Lemon was the first to break the shocked silence. "Y-you can mean that."
"We can't just let our bestest bud go back there alone!" Fred challenged.
"Hiro..." Tadashi sighed. "I know that you're upset bu-"
"No 'buts' Tadashi. You can't keep making excuses for him. He wants to go, and every time we try to help, he just lashes out at us. And if he wants to be that way... then fine! Let him go! It's his choice."
Varian didn't want to hear the rest.
He ran down the hall; tears blinding his eyes.
He thought he heard someone yell for him, or maybe it was only wishful thinking.
It didn't matter. He just needed to get out of here and be with someone who understood.
------------------------
Varian composed himself before making his way up to Salma's apartment.
So what if the guys were giving up trying to stop him? That was what he had wanted, wasn't it?
It'd be safer this way. He won't have to look out for them or risk them getting underfoot. They won't be in the path of the rocks or Frederic's wrath. And, most importantly, they would never need to know of his past.
Though, reason as he may, it still hurt.
He took one last shuddering breath before knocking on the door.
There was no answer.
He tried again.
And a third time.
Worried, he sent her a text, letting her know that he was there.
Finally, after about ten minutes he tried one last time.
"Salma? Are you there?..... It's me, Varian. Are you ready to go?"
he placed his ear to the door, listing for any response.
All he heard was a soft sobbing sound as if someone was crying.
He knocked louder.
"Salma? Salma!? Are you alright?"
He tried to open the door in a panic. It was locked. He took to banging instead.
"Salma, are.. are you hurt?"
"Please... p-please go away." Came her muffled reply.
Those words were barely audible through the door, but they cut through Varian's heart like a knife.
He sunk to the floor, his legs suddenly no longer wanting to support himself.
"Salma p-please...." He whispered back. He tried to remain calm even as his last strand of hope began to slip through his fingers. "Please, tell me what's wrong.... Are... are you mad at me?"
He was only answered by more sobs.
Finally he got up and left without another word.
He made it all the way down the stairs and almost was to his car again when he stopped and gave a parting wistful glance back up at the window that led to Salma's apartment.
That's when he noticed the drain pipe.
------------------------
Salma laid on the sofa crying.
She felt awful about telling Varian to leave, but she couldn't face him right now.
She couldn't face anyone.
She just wanted to disappear.
She desperately wished for the world to stop turning, just a moment, so that she didn't have to engage in it and acknowledge the terrible truth.
"Please Allah… please…. Don't let it be real." She whispered to herself over and over again.
That's when she heard a noise coming from her window.
She finally looked up, confused, as the noise became only louder.
It sounded like a person grunting from exertion.
Then a hand latched onto the window sill.
Salma gasped as a second hand joined the first; her tears momentarily forgotten in her shock.
Then Varian's head popped up into view.
"H-hi…uh, S-salma!" He grinned with effort as he struggled to maintain his hold on the window.
Salma screamed and Varian almost let go in surprise. That hadn't been the reaction he was expecting.
Upon seeing him almost fall, Salma gathered her wits and rushed to help pull him inside.
It took several heart racing minutes to get him to safety, and both parties had to pause a moment to breathe.
"Boy… th-that to a lot of work…" Varian wheezed, before flashing her a smile.
Said smile fell away quickly when he noticed Salma's furious expression.
"What the hell were you thinking!?"
Varian's eyes went wide at the uncharacteristic swear. He then stumbled backwards as she continued to berate him.
"We're fifteen stories up! How… How did you even manage to climb that!? Why did you climb that!? Of all the stupid, irresponsible, low-down things to do! I asked you to leave!"
"B-but Sal-"
"No buts! You expressly ignored my wishes, and almost got yourself killed! And for what!? Aagrah… why must you men always be so, s-so, sooooooohhh!"
She stomped her foot as her rant gave way to an unintelligible scream.
Varian was completely at a loss. He had never seen her this angry before. He stood there dumbly as she fumed, and then suddenly she looked back up, touched her hair, and gasped in horror as if she just realized something.
She ran to her bed over in the opposite corner of the studio apartment. She pulled a blanket off it and threw it around her, covering her head and wrapping her shoulders with it.
Varian was only even more confused by this action.
However he didn't wish to upset her any further, so he turned his back to her as she readjusted the makeshift head covering. His eyes glanced about the room as he did so.
This was his first time seeing the inside of the apartment. It was a small space. Larger than Wasabi's dorm but not as big as the loft apartment that Gogo and Honey Lemon shared.
It featured an open kitchen that took up one wall, a small round table with two chairs, a low to the ground sofa with a short bookcase next to it separated the living space from the sleeping area, and he figured the door behind him led to a bathroom.
"H-how did your f-finals go?" He casually asked, trying to change the subject.
"Fine." She gave a curt reply, still not looking at him while she composed herself.
"Th-hat's good. My Intro to Economics was a killer." He joked.
He walked over to the table, and casually glanced at what he thought were study materials laying across it. He quickly realized that they were not.
It was an assortment of letters, photographs, and documents. There was a medal of some kind lying on top of the notebook and other odds and ends we're strewn about; a watch, some dice, and another copy of Salma's religious text, only this one more worn and small enough to be carried inside a pocket.
Then there were the pictures, some of Salma and others of what Varian assumed were her family. One young man in particular kept repeating in all of them. He looked to be only a few years older than himself.
Varian took all of this in at a glance. He had a vague idea of who the young man in photos might be. Then his eyes settled on one particular wrinkled and creased letter. Unlike the rest of the papers, this one was in Russian.
"Moya Devochka…." He read out loud.
Salma stiffened.
Varian paused.
He didn't need to read any further. This was clearly a personal letter sent by one of her family members. Perhaps her grandfather. Yet… he knew whatever was in it was connected to the young man in the photographs, and was the source of Salma's misery.
"This is about your brother… right?" He said simply, as he pieced together the clues.
"Please go." Salma answered.
"I… I just want to help."
She finally turned to look at him; her face dripping with incredulity.
"How? How can you help? How do you even begin to call this help!?"
"It's not good to be alone Salma!"
She paused, as if she had never considered that idea.
"I know what it's like to lose a family member." Varian continued. "And… sure, I get it, you hate the world right now. You have right to, b-but just sitting here crying alone. Th-that won't make things better."
Salma pursed her lips, and Varian knew his words had not reached her.
"What does it matter?"
"What do you mean, what does it matter?"
Salma shook her head as more tears started to fall.
"N-nothing is going to make this better…" she sobbed. "So what does it matter what I do?"
"That's… that's not true..."
"You can't bring him back."
"That doesn't mean things won't get better."
She had no reply. Her voice caught in her throat and she heaved her shoulders as her body wracked with sobs.
Varian ran to her, to hold her, but she backed away from him and held up her hand to stop him from nearing.
"No." She managed to whisper.
"Wh-what… what do you need me to do then?"
"L-leave."
"I'm…. I'm afraid to leave you alone though."
She looked at him, confused.
"Y-you need to talk to someone; be with someone." Varian pressed. "You don't want to talk to me… fine. Then call Dr. Brown or your aunt. You have people that care about you still, and they're worried about you."
Salma seemed to reflect on this, as she cast her eyes downwards and fiddled with a blanket in her hands.
"He… he went missing… two months ago…" she finally answered. "The military gave up looking for him. I only got the letter today."
"I'm sorry."
He moved again to hug her, but once more she pulled away from him.
"I told you, now please go."
Varian was taken aback by the forcefulness of her voice. He thought her opening up meant that she was ready to reconcile and receive help, but that was now clearly not the case.
"B-but I care-"
"Go!"
She marched to the door and held it open for him.
He stood there stunned for a moment, but she remained resolute.
"O-okay…." Only to pause at the doorway before leaving. "Will you at least call your aunt though?"
She nodded.
"Promise?"
"Yes."
"Th-then will you call me later?"
She shook her head firmly and Varian frowned.
She stood up straight, looked him firmly in the eyes, and said, "No."
"No, I will not be calling you. No, you may not call me. And no, I never ever want to see you again."
And with that she slammed the door in his face.
He stood there, his heart shattered on the floor, as he heard Salma begin sobbing again from the other side of the door.

Pokemon, A DnD journey.
A few years ago I was messing around with concepts to replay Pokemon Firered and wanted to try something different. At the time one of my dnd buddies wanted to doodle something cute for a charmander lying on a pile of gold named Smaug. Then it hit me. I asked for her permission to borrow the name of the charmander and decided a small challenge for myself.
Making a Pokémon team themed around Dnd monsters and classes.
I named the male protagonist, Hiro as a wordplay for Hero and named the rival, Lu or short for Lich.
Then it became a running theme up until Pokemon Sword and Shield came out. I might go back and try again with the latest games if this becomes popular or if I just feel like it.
I even wrote down all of the Pokémon I used on my main teams throughout the games with their names, natures, and personalities with little quirks I added to spice up the story. Even imagined the Pokemon to speak and everything. No, this wasn’t a nuzlocke but it was still a fun challenge for me gameplay wise and story wise.
Here is the first chapter of the Firered play through, enjoy!
Chapter One: A Boy and his Dragon.
Life in Pallet Town was simple and rather bland for the residents of this quaint town. That is unless you were becoming ten and starting to begin your journey as a Pokémon trainer. Young Hiro Fukuda was about to get his starter Pokémon and be on his way to starting his journey. However he wasn’t going to get his starter from the Professor like normal kids, he was going to get his first Pokémon from his family.
Hiro’s father eagerly awaited for the day that his son would carry on the Fukuda legacy and grow up to become a strong trainer just like him. His mother though nervous was supportive of her son’s future and gladly helped Hiro pack up for his journey.
Once everything was settled, Hiro’s parents sat the boy down with a pokeball on the table. The boy beams brightly as he stares at the pokeball with excitement in his eyes as he carefully grabs the ball and presses the button. And then a bright red beam would appear before the family before morphing shapes until the light begins to fade. Revealing a bright orange salamander with a small ember on it’s tail.
“A charmander! Awesome!” The boy cheers as he jumps up to his feet and reaches out to pet the salamander. A faint startled noise escapes the tiny lizard as he reels back a bit before calming down as Hiro begins to softly pet him on the head. “Awww, looks like you two are becoming fast friends already.” Hiro’s mom coos as she takes out a camera.
Hiro’s father chuckles warmly as he watches the adorable scene and shakes his head at his wife. “One picture dear, we shouldn’t keep them from starting their journey.” The father hums before turning to his son. “Any idea what you’re going to name him, Hiro?”
Hiro blinks as he pauses with petting his new buddy before tilting his head in thought. “Hmm…How about…Smaug? Like Smog but better sounding and it has character.”
“Perfect.” Hiro’s father chuckles once more in amusement before they all heard a faint *click* sound. Hiro’s mother beaming with pride as she shakes the Polaroid with reckless abandonment before gently blowing at it. “You can say that again.”
Hiro snickers as he looks to his parents before down to his new companion and smiles brightly. “Ready to get going Smaug?” Smaug with his new name looks up to Hiro eagerly before bobbing his head yes.
“You best be careful out there okay?” His mother pouts as she leans over the coffee table to gift her son a warm hug. “I will, I promise.” Hiro reassures while returning the hug.
“Oh, and tell Lu we said hi. Though I do hope the poor dear is doing well..” Hiro’s mother gives another pout while resting a hand on her cheek. “They haven’t been the same since their parents passed away..”
Hiro dips his head in a somber manner as he looks down to his partner Pokémon. “Yeah…I haven’t seen them in a while. I do hope they’re okay.”
“Well if you see them, tell them that our door is always opened and that they are welcomed to stay for dinner.” Hiro’s father nods, reaching for his glasses and book. “You be safe out there and make us proud.”
As if almost like magic, the boy shakes off the sadness looming over him. “I will, thanks guys! Love you!” He calls out before scooping up Smaug in his arms, dashing out the door.
Eagerly rushing out to begin his journey, young Hiro did not know what fate would await him. What tales to be told?
To be continued.
