practicing the zeroes 2 electric boogaloo (now that i'm actually playing the games 🎉)

it's always a fun challenge stylization-wise - playing with the canon artstyle, the line between organic (which i'm ok at) and mechanic (which i'm bad at), that uncanny feel of "they aren't quite human", etc. also the irony of practicing anatomy (with references !!1!) on robots is not lost on me

hi there, so. the apau - axl protagonist au - is an mmz au based on an alternative take on the series that includes axl quite prominently !

obviously, axl is not present in actual mmz. my dear brother ( @bean-with-a-knife ) and I had the idea to change that and so, this was born ! obviously, the main change here is that axl is present and more importantly, our protagonist ! this is the main point of divergence and prominently changes everything that happens afterwards, including characters and settings !

further questions are welcome, but I can’t promise that I’ll elaborate on everything since this is an ongoing project I’m writing for ! for now, a few more doodles :

Would you mayhaps, partake in a small bundle of sillay laughter headcanons concerning X and his kids?

X: doesn't laugh nearly as much as he used to but when he does, he needs to hold onto something to keep upright. I'm talkin' full side gripping, rolling on the floor kinda laugh. Would not be surprised if he tears up at some point on his way down.

Harpuia: tries to hide his laugh a lot of the time but when he caves he's just as bad as X if not worse. If he laughs hard enough, bro will literally start squawking like a seagull. Regularly though, he only lets out a few chuckles and a more or less normal laugh if he's comfortable.

Leviathan: she does her little giggles from time to time, but if you genuinely make her laugh she starts squeaking like a dolphin. Eventually she'll calm down and sound at least a little normal, but just know that it'll be a while before that happens.

Fefnir: has the ugliest laugh you will ever hear in your life and it does not take a lot of effort to reach. He loves laughing, even if he sounds like a broken down car engine on its last legs. Probably joins X on the ground if he wasn't there already.

Phantom: is the hardest to make laugh but when he does he wheezes like a tea kettle. It gets even funnier because he gets weirdly shy about it? Like he starts covering his face when he starts laughing which only makes him laugh more. He doesn't like people hearing his wheezing but he's just a wee lad.

wanted to tackle that concept of the Guardians being busy protecting humans somewhere during Z4 - finding their own grounds to settle on and defend with escapees.

In order to remain under Weil's radar, they pass as humans themselves under the aliases Epervier (H), Moloch (F) and Manta (L), even fighting with ordinary weapons unless the situation calls for it. The Cyber Elf accompanying them jams if not outright destroys all recording devices in their vicinity.
