You recently moved to Toronto, Canada all by yourself. Surprisingly. You made this huge decision after being so overwhelmed with your hometown a.k.a Los Angeles, California. You felt sort of suffocated in a way due to you being a influencer and a micro-model. Paparazzi and drama, those two words sent shivers down your spine. Also due to the fact you were a small content creator filming grwm's and your hobby in collecting trinkets - a small YouTube channel by the name of : @ mandys_iphone , reached out to you.

Now, you were walking in the cloudy, busy, downtown Toronto with Mandy. The two of you barely met two months ago but the two of you were hip-to-hip since you guys had the same interests and humor. You barely had just moved so you haven't really seen the hidden gems of the city so Mandy decided to have a catch-up with you. "Okay this is my favorite spot like ever. Me and my boyfriend always come get breakfast here when were too lazy to cook." She pointed to a building that you can already smell the coffee beans blocks away. "Oh my god I just realized you never met Martin and our friends that well huh? You need to met them, you'll love them!" she smiled, "I dunno', still testing the waters trying to socialize.." you gave Mandy a worried like smile as she scoffed "Well this is a perfect way to socialize! Trust me, you'll all get together just fine. Nothing to worry about!" she slightly shook your arm as you couldn't say no to her. "Fineee, but you better not ditch me for Martin!" you swung open the café door letting her in as you were slapped with the smell of coffee.

You both sat down at a table outside the café trying to get used to the chilly, dry, Toronto weather. Nothing you were used to back in sunny Los Angeles. "Okay so Martin and Hamzah, they both have had this YouTube channel since 2023 called 'Slushynoobz' and they basically just post vlogs, gaming, mukbangs and other shit like that." she said sipping her coffee as you almost spat your drink from your mouth, " 'Slushy noobs' ? I'm sorry I can already tell they're sense of humor from that name" you giggled as she did as well, "Trust me, they are the loudest people on earth." she rolled her eyes sarcastically.

You both decided to look for the nearest toy collection store trying to get your hands on some trinkets. You walked through the towering buildings of Toronto absolutely admired. It was as busy as Cali but negative degrees. You and Mandy spent definitely more than you two implied to, you walked into your car and unboxed them all filming for her YouTube channel.

"welp that was fun" Mandy looked at you and at the wrappers thrown all over your car as the both of you died of laughter due to the silence of the car. She ended the recording and helped you clean your car.

"You better show up or I'm beating the shit out of you!" Mandy pointed her finger at you as you laughed, "Yes, I'll show up I promise!" you replied as she shut the car door waving goodbye to you.

After a couple hours of cleaning your apartment and laying your sonny angel's everywhere throughout your house you began to get ready. Re-touching your makeup, straightening your hair, and changing you slipped into light washed loose jeans, a small cropped pink sweater, and a over the shoulder white Chanel purse. You stepped into your car anxiously driving you to Mandy's place. Your palms became sweaty at the thought of people not liking you. You tried shaking this emotion off as you were minutes to arriving. You took a deep breath as you shut your car door behind you walking to Mandy's door step.

Your knuckles hovered right above the door as you re-thought everything all over again. You feeling like this was one of the reason you hated those big influencer parties back in L.A. but since Mandy had reassured you it was no where near that your knuckles lightly hit the door. The door was swung open by Mandy holding her dog 'eddy'. "Y/n!! Ahh come in quick!" she exclaimed as you stepped into her place. She's always been over to yours but this was your first time seeing her home. You loved it. "Please come in, come in! Martin!" she waved her hand towards the couch as you sat on the edge.

You saw Martin for the first time, his hair straight and a quirky look on his face. "Hi!, Martin." he shook your hand pulling you into a side hug, "Hiii!" you smiled receiving his hug as you sat back down "Now Mandy has another person she can go get trinkets now!" he laughed as you nodded, "well this is our pet's; fish, carl, eddy, and Rudy! There all small so they won't bite!" he pointed to the cats and dogs positioned in different places all over the house. You suddenly heard a knock at the door mimicking a song as Martin went to go answer it. It was a tall guy with a 'obama' plastered beanie walking in with grey sweats and a phone sideways recording Martin. Claire then walked in (you already knew her), and lastly a tall curly head with frosted tips walked in catching your eye. You noticed Claire walking up to you reaching for a hug, "Hi y/n, oh my gosh I haven't seen you like in ages dude!" she said rocking you side to side "I know!" you smiled still keeping that curly head in mind.

"Okay well, Y/n this is chase.." Mandy pointed to the camera guy that walked in "Hi, nice to meet you y/n!" he hugged you as you greeted him. "Anddd...this is Hamzah!" You looked up at him as you couldn't help but notice how cute he was. You felt as if you were staring at him since he stepped foot in this house. "Hi, I'm Hamzah nice to meet you" he shook your hand as he pulled you into a hug. He felt himself get a little nervous. He's never been around a pretty girl like you. "Nice to meet you, Hamzah." his name rolled off your tongue satisfyingly. You could get used to him.

You all spent the night making drinks and talking with each other about what they all usually do here in Toronto. After taking sip after sips of different drinks you all felt yourself become tipsy.

You plopped onto the couch as It was just you and that pretty boy Hamzah. You looked over at him as he chuckled, "Hi" you said lowly as he looked at all your unique features. Especially your lips. "One to many drinks?" he questioned as you scoffed, "Quite like that" you shrugged your shoulders nodding. He couldn't stop looking at you, he was almost getting lost in your beauty. "I- um, how long has it been since you moved?" he questioned, "like 3-4 months ago. I couldn't handle all the stress back in cali." you replied. "Really? Me and Martin would love to go to cali!" he sat up intrigued into the small talk. "Yeah it's nice but you need to have like a lot of help, I was kind of navigating on my own." you explained as his eyes were glued to yours.

It was safe to say Hamzah wasn't close to being 100% sober either, "I hope you don't find this weird but your stunning" he admitted as your cheeks grew red. You felt butterflies take over your stomach, "Thanks, Your pretty handsome yourself too Hamzah." You had a sly smile. He folded. He felt like he got pinched with a everlasting blade, he hated it. He hated how easily flustered he got. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that...You know if you have a boyfriend -" "I don't" You cut his sentence off as you played with the ends of your hair looking around the room. "Woah, you? No boyfriend?" he questioned as you bit your lip hiding your face "Unfortunately" you replied. "Woah, a lot of guys with zero taste in women in L.A. huh?" he scoffed laying his hand across the top of the couch, you shyly looked at the opposite direction of his. "I'm serious!" he said. You spent the rest of the night talking with Hamzah until you felt more sober to be able to drive. You couldn't help but tuning him out some times and just staring at him. You caught yourself blushing every minute.

"Y/n right?" Hamzah questioned as you nodded, "that's me" you smiled. "We should hangout more often, mind if I get your instagram?" he handed you his phone. You typed in your Instagram, "Phone number too much?" , "Not at all".

Summary: What happens your neighbour's adorable orange cat starts to pay you daily visits?

London welcomed me with its perpetually gray skies and damp weather, a stark contrast to the sunny shores of California I had left behind. As I settled into my new apartment, I couldn't help but feel a pang of homesickness for the warmth of home.

For the first few weeks, I hardly saw my neighbours, lost in the shuffle of unpacking and adjusting to my new surroundings. But one persistent visitor soon made himself known – a vibrant orange cat that would perch itself on my windowsill, peering into my living room with curious eyes.

At first, I found it amusing, but as the days went by and the cat became a regular fixture, I grew concerned. Surely, someone must be missing their furry friend. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I scribbled a quick note on a yellow post-it, explaining the situation and tucking it under my neighbor's door. "Your cat seems to be visiting me often," I wrote. "Just wanted to let you know in case you're worried."

Days passed, and I received no response. I wondered if my neighbor had even seen the note or if they simply didn't care about their wandering pet.

But then, one evening, there was a soft knock on my door.

Opening the door, I found myself face to face with a handsome young man, his expression sheepish yet friendly. He held a small box in his hands, the smell of freshly baked pastries wafting from within.

"Hey, sorry to bother you," he began, his accent unmistakably Australian. "I'm Oscar, your neighbor from next door. I just wanted to apologize for my cat bothering you. And, well, to say thank you for looking out for him."

I couldn't help but smile at his genuine demeanor. "No problem at all, your cat is lovely, I was simply worried you might wonder where he was" I replied, accepting the box of pastries. "I'm glad to finally meet you, Oscar" I replied, introducing myself as well.

"Do you maybe wanna come in? I can make us some tea or coffee and we could eat the pastries you brought?" I added.

"I would love that!" replied Oscar with a warm smile.

From that moment on, Oscar and I struck up an unexpected friendship. We bonded over our shared love for his cat and baked goods, finding comfort in each other in the big city of London, so far from our respective homes. Oscar told me all about his work as a Formula One driver, and I could not help but be in awe of how passionate he was. I, on the other end, told him about the teaching opportunity that got me to move here, and I would often tell him cute stories from my classroom.

As weeks turned into months, our friendship deepened. Oscar proved to be not only a generous neighbor but also a reliable friend. Whether it was helping me fix a leaky faucet or lending a hand with heavy groceries, he was always there when I needed him.

Our weekly movie nights, whenever Oscar wasn't out of the country, became a cherished tradition, a welcome break from our everyday lives. We'd take turns picking films, debating over classics and hidden gems late into the night.

But amidst the laughter and camaraderie, I couldn't ignore the growing feeling in my chest whenever I saw Oscar. He was kind, funny, and undeniably attractive – qualities that drew me in despite my best efforts to keep my distance.

One day, as I scrolled through Twitter during a lazy afternoon, I stumbled upon something that caught me off guard. Pictures of Oscar, smiling brightly alongside a beautiful girl with long blonde hair.

A pang of jealousy shot through me, surprising in its intensity. I realised then, with startling clarity, that my feelings for Oscar ran deeper than I had initially thought. But it was too late – I was now pretty sure he was already taken, and I had no right to interfere.

Unable to shake off my newfound jealousy, I began to distance myself from Oscar, avoiding our usual interactions and retreating into solitude. But my sudden coldness did not go unnoticed.

One evening, there was a sharp knock on my door, and when I opened it, there stood Oscar, his expression a mixture of frustration and concern.

"What's going on with you?" he demanded, his voice tinged with hurt. "You've been acting strange lately, and I want to know why."

"I'm not" I replied defensively.

"Come on, don't give me that bullshit" replied a rather angry Oscar. "You've been avoiding me. Have I done something?" he asked, his voice laced with vulnerability.

I hesitated, the weight of my emotions heavy in the air between us. But then, with a surge of courage, I found myself blurting out the truth.

"I... I think I'm in love with you, Oscar," I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper. "And seeing you with someone else... it hurts more than I thought it would."

For a moment, there was silence, the tension palpable. But then, to my surprise, Oscar stepped forward, his eyes burning with intensity.

"God, you can be so dense sometimes" he breathed

"Hum, excuse me?" I replied, clearly offended.

"The girl you're talking about, that's my new PR manager."

"Oh..."

"I thought I was being fairly obvious as to how I feel about you." he said softly, reaching out to cup my face in his hands.

And with that, he closed the distance between us, his lips meeting mine in a heated and passionate kiss, leaving me breathless.

🌊 - Discover the Ocean's Hidden Gem Deep down in the Pacific

1. Massachusetts passed a millionaire's tax. Now, the revenue is paying for free public school lunches.

Every kid in Massachusetts will get a free lunch, paid for by proceeds from a new state tax on millionaires.

A new 4% tax on the state's wealthiest residents will account for $1 billion of the state's $56 billion fiscal budget for 2024, according to state documents. A portion of those funds will be used to provide all public-school students with free weekday meals, according to State House News Service.

2. Plant-based filter removes up to 99.9% of microplastics from water

Researchers may have found an effective, green way to remove microplastics from our water using readily available plant materials. Their device was found to capture up to 99.9% of a wide variety of microplastics known to pose a health risk to humans.

3. Scientists Find A Whole New Ecosystem Hiding Beneath Earth's Seafloor

Most recently, aquanauts on board a vessel from the Schmidt Ocean Institute used an underwater robot to turn over slabs of volcanic crust in the deep, dark Pacific. Underneath the seafloor of this well-studied site, the international team of researchers found veins of subsurface fluids swimming with life that has never been seen before.

It's a whole new world we didn't know existed.

4. How solar has exploded in the US in just a year

Solar and storage companies have announced over $100 billion in private sector investments in the US since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) a year ago, according to a new analysis released today by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA).

Since President Joe Biden signed the IRA in August 2022, 51 solar factories have been announced or expanded in the US.

5. Researchers have identified a new pack of endangered gray wolves in California

A new pack of gray wolves has shown up in California’s Sierra Nevada, several hundred miles away from any other known population of the endangered species, wildlife officials announced Friday.

7. The Inflation Reduction Act Took U.S. Climate Action Global

The U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) aimed to promote clean energy investments in the U.S. and globally. In its first year, the IRA successfully spurred other nations to develop competitive climate plans.

Clean energy projects in 44 U.S. states driven by the IRA have generated over 170,600 jobs and $278 billion in investments, aligning with Paris Agreement goals.

you found the cabin especially cold today. you were used to it as a year round camper, being left as everyone went home for the school and family matters.

you were supposed to be going for the holidays, too. until plans fell through. leaving you here.

christmas morning. all alone. it felt like home alone. if you were home you could at least watch that movie.

but you weren’t home. you laid in your boyfriend’s bed in cabin one.

jason grace. the warmest person you knew.

he was at camp jupiter. stuck there through responsibilities and an unforeseen blizzard.

you could iris message him, right? wrong.

the three hour time difference from new york to california made it, what, 5 am there?

he was an early riser, he would be awake in maybe an hour or two.

but those would be a dreadful hour or two. laying alone in your boyfriend’s bed, wishing he was there. gods, you were pathetic.

you were so confused, however, when the cabin suddenly filled with light. you leaned up, seeing a figure silhouette standing in the doorway.

you leaped to your feet when you realized the silhouette had a head full of blond hair and blue eyes hidden behind a pair of glasses.

“oh my gods,” you screeched, jumping into a hug.

he wrapped his arms around you tightly, lifting you off the ground, “hey, my love.”

you leaned back to look at his face. his nose and cheeks were nipped red from the cold, you softly brush your thumb against the side of his face, “you’re freezing.”

he brought you over to the bed and gently set you down, “i know, i tried to get here as fast as i could.”

as soon as he pulled off his coat, you pulled down into the bed alongside you, “i missed you,” you whispered.

he kissed your nose, your cheeks, then your chin, and finally your lips before answering, “i missed you, too.” he smiled, his hand coming up to cup your cheek, “i got you something.”

he turned and grabbed his jacket, pulling a small box out of the pocket, “here.” it was poorly wrapped in your favorite color paper. your heart melted at the attempt.

you took the box, delicately unwrapping it and taking off the top.

inside revealed a beautiful gold neck with two gems. one carved with your initial, and the other a j.

“oh my gods,” you muttered.

“do you like it?”

you took it out of the box, holding it up, “can you put it on me?”

he beamed and beckoned for you to turn around. you did so and allowed him to clip the necklace.

“i hope you know that this is never leaving my neck.” you crawled into his lap, wrapping your arms around his neck.

“i should hope so, my love.” his hands reached around you, tracing shapes on your back.

you leaned down, deeply kissing him, your hands holding onto the sides of his jaw to hold him as close as possible.

after however long, you barely pulled away, just enough to breathe, “merry christmas, sweetheart.”

“merry christmas, love of my life.”

OKAY. Second time around.

Chappell Roan is an American singer who gained her rise to fame very very quickly last year. She is extremely talented and a famous face within the queer community. She began making music around a decade ago, however she didn’t see her stardom really start until around 2023, with one of her songs, Pink Pony Club, released as a single in 2020, was picked up by TikTok and subsequently became extremely popular. The song resonated with many people, primarily queer folks, for its lyrics and overall message, likes like “God, what have you done? You’re a pink pony girl, and you dance at the club,” and “I’m having wicked dreams of leaving Tennessee,” gaining attention of many fresh young adult queer people looking to escape the confines of their small town red state and find places like LA, with queer bars and drag joints. Other songs from her album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, released in September 2023, also gained lots of attention, including Casual, which quickly became a lesbian situationship heartbreak crash out anthem, My Kink is Karma, Femininomenon, and Picture You. In my opinion, the whole album is an absolute BANGER with not a single skip song, and some of the more underrated ones, like Guilty Pleasure and California, are hidden GEMS.

Chappell Roan has received a lot of praise for her music, her appearance, and for her queerness. She is loudly and openly queer, being a lesbian and not being afraid to let others know that. Her music is also extremely queer and out there, making it more impressive and ground breaking that she in so mainstream. While queer artists and their music often made it onto the radio, it hasn’t really been so openly there until now, with Chappell Roan. You’d be a fool to think for a second she wasn’t queer, and her music leaves no debate, and more importantly not only is her music openly queer it’s also openly sexual, many songs including lines like “so baby let’s get freaky and kinky, let’s make this bed get creaky!” (Red Wine Supernova, “Knee deep in the passenger seat, and you’re eating me out,” (Casual), “Touch me baby, put your lips on mine,” (Naked in Manhattan), etc etc. This was extremely revolutionizing for queer music as a whole, as before Chappell openly kinky queer music on the radio was practically non existent. Even without being sexual, music as openly gay as her was hard to come by on public radio. She’s become a new lesbian icon, a queer princess of pop, and has changed the music industry as a whole with her new, vibrant music, receiving many praises from many artists, including Elton John, who sung a duet with her at his annual AIDS gathering, and a multitude of artists who were also within the pop renaissance last year, including Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, and Charli xcx. All this combined, it’s no wonder why and how she became so incredibly mainstream.

Her rise to fame was extremely quick too, beginning around the end of 2023 and reaching a heat in the summer of 2024, with her Midwest Princess tour and record breaking crowds. Literally, record breaking. I mean, this girl performed at lolapalooza and broke the record for the largest crowd, which, at lolapalooza, which is the biggest music festival held in American, is an impressive feat. Seriously, you should see the photos, that crowd was MASSIVE. Her early famousosity was also cultured originally by Olivia Rodrigo, with her appearing as an opener on her GUTS World Tour and even be backing vocals on a couple of her songs on the GUTS albums. This helped to put her on a map for many and gain the attention she needed to get a kick start.

Her rise to fame was also probably helped by the single she dropped in April of 2024, Good Luck, Babe! which became so popular that it was not only her most streamed song on Spotify, but one of the top streamed songs of the year. She even performed at the VMAs, which was a SUPER cool performance that I totally suggest watching on YouTube, and was also nominated for Song of the Summer in two categories, with her being nominated for a total of three and winning Best New Artist of 2024, go Chappell. Along with that, she is also famous because of her campy, queer, and drag-inspired looks, along with her Hollywood hair of big, bouncy red curls, that make her stand out among others. Her “clown” makeup is exactly that, based on clowns, and if I remember correctly it’s because she was called a clown by boys in her hometown, and she decided to own it. I love her for that. She’s also known as being “your favorite artist’s favorite artist,” which is actually what appears when you search her up as a Did You Mean: search. It was pointed on to her on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, to which she said that she was inspired to say that by Sasha Colby, a well known drag queen and one of her biggest inspirations, who originally said something similar, “I’m your favorite drag queen’s favorite drag queen.” Chappell later said in the same night that it was probably some twink who worked at Google who was like “we love her” that did that.

Chappell faced some pretty bad backlash in September (?) 2024, when she canceled one of the shows on her Midwest Princess tour where she was set to perform at the All Things Go festival in New York City/Maryland. Her reason being that she was extremely stressed and very overwhelmed from her sudden rise to fame, and needed to take a break. Which, who wouldn’t need a break? I’d be stressed too. However, she faced a lot of scrutiny for it, with people berating her saying she couldn’t handle being mainstream and that this was what came with the job. She’s done multiple TikTok’s on this general topic, but she is very much an advocate in the music industry for better treatment of music artists, and not approving of the harassment fans often give, which was a big thing for her. In fact, she even threatened to quit the music industry entirely if fans didn’t stop harassing her and her family. She even cursed out a photographer at the VMAs for cussing at her, saying “Not me bitch,” to him. Iconic. I love her so much.

Now to probably why you’re asking in the first place. The Giver. Chappell has sung multiple unreleased songs at her concerts, including the Subway (which I desperately hope gets released soon) which is probably her most popular unreleased one. However, the Giver was performed when she appeared on Saturday Night Live, in the same night as Kamala Harris and Maya Rudolph did a bit together as well, singing The Giver unreleased. Shockingly, professional footage was taken down by SNL official mere hours after they uploaded it, which was weird. Recently, Chappell began dropping teasers for it being released as a single, putting up multiple billboards and posters, including in Times Square, of her dressed as a Lawyer telling people to call 1-800-HOTTOGO, which, when dialed, brings up a help line asking directory. When dialing a certain directory, a distorted snippet of the song would play for roughly 15 seconds before disconnecting. She officially came out and said that she would be be dropping a The Giver 7” vinyl for preorder, in 5 variants of The Lawyer, the Dentist, the Construction Worker, the Plumber, and the Private Investigator, all of which also got public PR in the forms of buildings, flyers, etc. The vinyl would be shipped sometime in early August, leading fans to believe that Chappell would be releasing the single sometime between the announcement (around mid February) and August. And lo and behold, about a week ago Chappell posted that the Giver would be dropping March 13th, 8:00 pm EST.
