Wow, this Netflix show called Hi Score Girl that is set in 1991 I can totally relate to (as can many of my friends). Street Fighter II made arcades have a big come back, and in the 90’s my friends and I would go to arcades quite a bit. Always playing against new people in Street Fighter II was a rush. Some would flip out if you beat them, especially if you used Zangief :) I’m so glad we were part of the whole Street Fighter II boom. It lasted quite a few years, but eventually the console systems made many of our favorite arcades disappear. This show also had many of the games we played that are now considered classics.... Final Fight and Ghosts n’ Goblins to name a few. Thanks Netflix for suggesting this show to me which has brought back many fun memories. Hopping from arcade to arcade, pizza places, bowling alleys, malls and basements to make new friends (and some rivals) and get high scores. I’m still a gamer and will continue to be until I can play no more. #hiscoregirl #gamer #videogames #gaming #youtuber #sf2 #streetfighterii #streetfighter2 #arcade #arcades #1991 #fightinggames #yeoldgamer #misterfitshace #pax #paxeast #netflix https://www.instagram.com/p/BtKCZ4TFfuZ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=rof9uqkiuuht
I feel I am being too pressured this week. Combined with having nearly no free time yesterday and my family members having to interrupt my Saturday night special live stream, I feel like I can't take it. The first sign of it was that I shortened my pre-marathon peepshow due to running outdoor errands. Even worse, I entered a personal break in the middle of the first episode of the marathon, and my family members asked for several things that nearly put my marathon on indefinite hold.
There are reasons why my weekend morning cartoon block is in the Emergency Occurrence filler arc.
1. I had family issues that prevented me from live-streaming Saturday mornings.
2. #NinjaKamui, one of the shows in my live-stream lineup, doesn't premiere new episodes until Saturdays/Sundays at midnight, conflicting with my Saturday morning duties. I ran a U-PICK poll and my audience wanted to watch Ninja Kamui on Saturday mornings, but when the family issues happened first, I moved my block back to Sunday mornings, taking advantage of the DVR recordings of the previous night's broadcast on the cable network. There's a reason why I gave up on Toonami (in a way).
3. With more "Emergency Occurrences" happening during this stretch of time, I updated the lineups and bumpers to a more serious tone, even replacing the sign-off bumper music to a more tragic-sounding one. I even dropped #TheSlayers, #SwordArtOnline and #HiScoreGirl early to shake up my lineup for the best. It lead to the inclusions of programs like #TsubasaReservoirChronicle Season 2, #zom100, and #dragonballzkai. This is certainly one of the darkest times of my live-stream block.
4. I alienated my audiences at the cost of live-streaming the newest Ninja Kamui episodes, making premiere blocks harder for my viewers to watch live unless I set up reruns. The reruns are there to keep my Saturday morning audience afloat during these dark times.
Thankfully, all this "Emergency Occurrence" business will end tomorrow morning with the final Sunday morning cartoon block unless the next U-PICK poll shows that my audience wants to watch the newest #MyAdventuresWithSuperman episodes on Sunday mornings, as the newest season will also have Saturday/Sunday midnight premieres ala Ninja Kamui. I want to make the most out of my audience, and that's the reason I tried moving my block to Saturday mornings last January. I had the DVD sets to the remaining #NarutoShippuden episodes, and I noticed the rest of the shows from both Toonami's lineup and my personal lineup have no cable-premiere English dubs but Naruto Shippuden, with the entire series' dub already on DVD sets before digital video streaming platforms. I considered using Hulu, but not all of the dubbed episodes were available at the time, and I doubt they'd be ready as of now.
My goal of #ToonTimeTheater is to make Toonami's programming more accessible to viewers that have strict curfews that prevent them from watching Toonami live. I originally started T3 as a Sunday morning block as I get my recordings of Naruto Shippuden and the Toonami original productions from the night before. Once I find out that some of my extended family members and friends have Sunday-morning meetings to attend, that's what convinced me to buy the DVDs to the last remaining Naruto Shippuden episodes and transition to Saturday mornings. Not only that, T3 serves as a revival effort for modern Saturday morning cartoon blocks, which we lost since 2014. The programming on T3 serve as a bridge gap between the Saturday morning cartoon blocks of the past and late-night anime blocks of the present, allowing for former Vortexx viewers and all kinds of anime fans a more accessible entry point.
