     Powers clashing to the backdrop of the endless stars. Celestial bodies reduced to rushing colors for a force washed in golden power. With a battle fought and energy spent, his body toppled, one final thumbs up tossed to that cool, blue planet he called home. 

     Before a touch of cosmic intervention pulled him aside, toting him off to safety.

     “Ah... welcome back. Your stunts can give quite the startle, you know.” Would be the first words heard once the hedgehog's mind began to stir. While his body jostled awake. 

     The cosmic woman's own form took a seat, folded legs resting in the grass of Gateway Galaxy. Next to Sonic's flowerbed he'd been kindly rested in. A teacup was then produced, mouth gently blowing steam from its top before speaking. “But your fight was won and your friends are safe. So for now? Focus on yourself and mend. You of all people need no assistance with energizing, but the drink should help bring your energy back.” Mm, and one extra cup merely hovered out for Sonic to take with a light wave of the lithe hand.

the  stars  are  a  fire   /   burning  eyes   (   golden   /   this  scarred  texture  against  your  tongue   /   are  but  dreams  you  fail  to  grant   ).   moonlight   /   it  pours  in  through  the  window  blinds.   on  eyes  that  fail  to  sleep   /   the  light  of  a  phone  bright  on  your  face   (   this  fabric  of  the  couch  soft   /   yet  uncomfortable   /   another  sleepless  night   ).

however   /   the  ghost  of  time  was  not  as  lonely  as  you  thought   (   you  feel  someone  shifting   /   wiggling  their  way  closer  to  you   ).   your  hand  lazily  drops  to  the  floor   /   getting  your  phone  out  of  your  face.   a  blue  hedgehog  stares  at  you   /   with  a  tired  smile   (   you  return  the  favor   /   your  chest  feels  hollow   /   you  smile   ).   wrapping  the  hero  with  your  cloak   /   you  run  your  fingers  through  his  quills.

the  two  of  you  could  never  get  any  sleep  anyways.

A  PLACE  TO  BE  FREE

the  sun  burns   &   it  scorches  upon  your  back   /   the  rays  of  light  are  bright   &   the  sky  is  clear.   unfamiliar  faces  swarm  around  you   /   some  turn  to  look  at  you   (   &   others  keep  walking   /   it’s  all  a  blur   /   your  eyes  don’t  seem  to  be  focused  on  anything  in  particular   ).   yet  everyone  still  keeps  moving   /   they’ve  got  a  direction  that  they’re  heading  for.   yet  you’re  just  barely  getting  by   /   lost  in  the  crowd  too  tired  to  keep  going.   losing  yourself  to  your  thoughts   /   until  someone  reaches  out  to  you.

you  feel  a  hand  fit  themselves  in  yours   /   your  ears  slightly  twitch  to  the  sound  of  a  familiar  voice.   looking  up  from  the  ground   /   you  see  sonic  with  an  ever  bright  smile   (   &   you  were  too  focused  on  his  smile  to  care  much  about  what  was  said  afterwards   ).   before  you  knew  it   /   he  pulls  you  with  him   ,   moving  through  the  crowd  fast   &   free.

he  navigates  you  through  alleyways   /   climbing  up  buildings  that  you  never  knew  about   (   only  thinking  about  reaching  to  the  top   ).   standing  tall  over  the  busy  city  that  keeps  moving   /   with  or  without  you.   it  was  a  nice  view  from  up  here   /   a  small  smile  returning  to  your  tired  face.
