Paresh Rawal Reveals Hera Pheri 3 Is In The Making Akshay & Sunil To Be Part Of It

Fans of the Hera Pheri franchise, there's good news for everyone! If all goes well, we can have an announcement of the third installment of Hera Pheri by the end of the year. The same has been confirmed by bollywood actor  Babu Bhaiya, also known as Paresh Rawal. Yes, you read that correctly. In an interview, the veteran actor who will soon appear in Hungama 2 alongside Shilpa Shetty, Meezan Jaafrey and Pranitha Subhash opened up about reports of a third of the most beloved films.

While speaking to IndianExpress.com, Paresh Rawal said, "They're trying to find out. Hopefully, by the end of this year, you'll have some good news." We cannot remain calm in the face of this exciting news. Hera Pheri is one of the most loved Priyadarshan. It features Akshay Kumar as Raju, Sunil Shetty as Ganshyam aka Shyam, and Paresh Rawal as Babu Bhaiya.

In May 2018, it was reported that Indra Kumar will lead the third party. In 2019, it was confirmed that the story will be a continuation. The director shared an update on it saying that the movie will have a lot of visual effects this time around. He said, "I'm glad our favorite trio is back together. We started the movie at the end of this year. It's currently in the script." In April of this year, it was reported that Indra Kumar has left the project and Priyadarshan has returned as director.

The first part, Hera Pheri, was released in 2000. Its sequel was released in 2006. It's been 15 years since the release of Hera Pheri 2, and we bet this news has definitely impressed all the fans. .

Meanwhile, Paresh Rawal, who worked with Priaydarshan on Hungama 2, praised the director and his vision. He said, "He's very clear about what he wants in his movie. He's clear in the characters, the plot, the way the story is handled. He has a sense of proportion in comedy, which is very vital for the genre because I don't. You don't want to overdo it. Also, The way you shoot your movie... Less fuss and maximum commendable results. I've tried it in regional cinema. So this is also what Hindi cinema gets in terms of characterization and so, let's say, with it, we get the best of both worlds."

Today we welcome Tanaz Bhathena to the blog. We're excited to hear more about her new book, A Girl Like That, and learn more about her writing life.

Summary: A timeless exploration of high-stakes romance, self-discovery, and the lengths we go to love and be loved.

You don’t want to get involved with a girl like that, they say. So how is it that eighteen-year-old Porus Dumasia has only ever had eyes for her? And how did Zarin and Porus end up dead in a car together, crashed on the side of a highway in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia? When the religious police arrive on the scene, everything everyone thought they knew about Zarin is questioned. Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with us about your work. What was the most difficult aspect of writing A Girl Like That?

The multiple perspectives! Some voices came a lot easier than others.

Where is your favorite place to write? Do you like to have any specific foods or drinks to encourage the process?

I love writing next to a big window. Even while travelling, I’ll always look for a place that has tons of natural light. I’m not much of a snacker, but during breaks I’ll have tea, medjool dates, fruit, sometimes cheese and nuts.

Who are the authors you've learned from and been inspired by in your reading and writing life?

There are many, but I’ll list the few whose books I’ve consistently read and loved over the past decade. Rohinton Mistry, Arundhati Roy, Khaled Hosseini and JK Rowling.

Where have you lived and how has that shaped you?

I was born in Mumbai, India. My parents moved us to Saudi Arabia when I was about a year old and I lived in Riyadh and Jeddah for the first fifteen years of my life. Living in a country as an expat can make you an outsider—in that country and your own—but it also allows you to observe things more closely than other people. (I guess that’s what drew me to writing!). In a strange way, though, I’m also now able to navigate different cultures with more ease; I know different words from a variety of languages; like many Third Culture Kids, I enjoy travelling.

On your FAQ page, you list watching Bollywood movies as something you do for fun. Could you share some favorite titles?

Warning: my tastes run into slapstick comedy. Favorites include: Satte pe Satta, Padosan, Hera Pheri (the one with Paresh Rawal), Deewana Mastana, 3 Idiots, Munnabhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munnabhai, and Queen.

I’m currently really looking forward to Padmaavat. (Wait, you said only favourites. Okay, I’ll shut up now…)

What would tell your teen self if you could send a letter back through time?

It won’t get any easier, but you’ll be a lot stronger.

Are you able to tell us anything about The Beauty of the Moment (coming in 2019)?

The Beauty of the Moment begins a year after A Girl Like That. Though it isn’t a true sequel (you can read it as a stand-alone), it follows a girl from Zarin Wadia’s school (Qala Academy in Jeddah) to Mississauga, Canada, where she comes across new challenges and finds new love. 

A Girl Like That will be released on February 27th, so we'll all be able to read it soon. Thanks again Tanaz!

‘Dhadkan’ starring Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty was a huge hit at the box office. There were reports of a sequel to the movie, however the makers had canned the plan. Recently during a live interaction, we had asked Suniel Shetty to deliver one of his favourite dialogues of his movies. The actor chose to deliver a dialogue from ‘Dhadkan’.

We asked Suniel Shetty if he would want to have a sequel to ‘Dhadkan’ and the actor had a funny twist to the story! Suniel Shetty responded, “Hopefully, Dharmesh Darshan and Venus will produce ‘Dhadkan2’ with my son Ahan Shetty and Akshay Kumar’s son and now also with Shilpa Shetty’s daughter (laughs). In the sequel, Ahan will get the heroine as in ‘Dhadkan’, Shilpa left me for Akshay. However her daughter is very cute and too small now.”

While ‘Dhadkan 2’ is not happening anytime soon, we were going to see Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar coming together after long time for ‘Hera Pheri 3’, but following corona scare in the country, looks like the project will be shifted further. Responding on ‘Hera Pheri 3’, Suniel Shetty said, “We were planning to make ‘Hera Pheri 3’. Let’s see if we can finally produce it or not but it was more towards happening. But now owing to the situation of the film industry, we will focus on completing those films which are already stuck. We need to let go and adjust other films. One of my films was supposed to go on the floor this June but since other films are stuck and if my co-stars want to reschedule the date to adjust the pending projects, then I will willingly postpone the production. Or else it will be mayhem.”

While the films are getting postponed for release, many projects will also get delayed in terms of shooting because of the coronavirus lockdown in the country. However social media is helping the actors to stay connected with their fans. But a lot of surprising news also trend which definitely doesn’t work in the favour of lockdown. One such incident which went viral was regarding Karnataka’s Former CM’s son’s wedding. We asked Suniel Shetty for his reaction on the same. The actor said, “The family should have focused on registry marriage for now. On the bride, groom and the marriage councillor. But to each to its own. I know so many people have cancelled their weddings for the lockdown. I think they should have been more responsible. I understand that it was a small ceremony but they should have been more careful about the safety of their own families.”

Apart from this news, Babita Phogat’s tweets on Twitter created a stir on social media. We asked Suniel Shetty for his reaction on the same as he’s been closely working for sports in India. Suniel said, “I think people should look at it in a more positively than negatively. Negative news, hatred and spitting venom is the only thing that scares me on social media. So I do get involved but for me, it is to wish someone or something good is happening to retweet or comment on it. I look at things very positively. I think as far as sportsman and athlete go, we should look at it from a sports perspective and not from a political perspective. If it’s a politician who’s speaking, anybody who’s political look at it the way you want. You know, because everything we’ll be looking at negatively. Now is not a time I think we need to be negative and spread religious hatred. If you say, praising someone and running another community down, or individuals down doesn’t make sense at all. Let’s work together as Indians.”

The actor has started an online app to allow the youth to share their audition clips to give them a chance to enter the entertainment industry. Revealing details about FTC Talent, Suniel said, “FTC Talent has been around for six months to a year now. The whole idea behind this to curb down the exploitation of talent. People should get the opportunity to directly contact the recruiters, the producers or even the directors. The recruiters will put up the request requirement and the kids will get an opportunity. We’ve been working on that. Unfortunately, the corona happened that and because of the corona at the same time, kids can’t go for auditions anymore. The audition itself is a luxury now you know, having 10 people 20 people at one place. So I thought this idea of short film festival a challenge where people can participate in the challenge even from their home. They can make a film at their homes and upload it on the FTC app and give an opportunity for talent to showcase itself to directors and assistant directors. People who are on the platform itself to probably act to help you edit or do anything else. So it’s like a community that is their online where you can engage with it and make your own short film. The whole #MeToo movement inspired me because you know people always complaining or being exploited and taken advantage of. I’ve always realized that in the industry first its financial exploitation of kids who come from outside of the country and they face mental stress and also they have to face physically exploitation. Via this portal, we try to eliminate all these stress and make it easier for the talents. Here they can put up their auditions and let me get some of the best in the industry to judge it. Where ever you are you can showcase your talent here. Even you are not making a short film, you can register yourself and any recruit, a Producer, Director, Event Manager, radio jockeys can have a look and you can get recruited as per requirement.”

Priyadarshan had directed the iconic comedy movie Hera Pheri, while Neeraj Vora directed the second part of the film. Neeraj was all set to direct the third part of the franchise as well and had even finalized the script but the directed succumbed to an illness earlier this year. However, latest reports suggest that Hera Pheri 3 is ready to be made now and will go on floors in December this year. Indra Kumar will now be directing Hera Pheri 3. He is the same person who directed Total Dhamaal that was a comic joyride for the audience. Hera Pheri 3 will have the same cast as the first part of the film, with Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal reuniting for the project. Indra Kumar confirmed the news by Tweeting, “This is going to be a fun project with a stellar star cast @akshaykumar @SunielVShetty @SirPareshRawal. Looking forward to #HeraPheri3.”

A source close to the film gave further insights to a leading daily saying that, “The project was locked last month after the three actors gave their dates. It will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule between December 2018 and February 2019 and will release in the second half of next year.” We are excited to watch this trio again on screen, what about you?

Yesterday, an interesting poster of Durgamati, starring Bhumi Pednekar and Arshad Warsi, was launched by the makers of the film – T-Series, Abundantia Entertainment and superstar Akshay Kumar, who is the presenter of the film. While Bhumi’s intense look got praises, it also left fans and industry bewildered. After all, this film was launched with the title Durgavati. The change of the film’s title was sudden and took everyone by surprise.

A source says, “No one exactly knows why the film’s title has been changed. But the general perception in the trade and industry is that the makers wanted to avoid a controversy. Akshay Kumar’s recent release Laxmii was earlier named Laxmmi Bomb and it led to brouhaha. They were unnecessarily accused of hurting the religious sentiments. Similarly, maybe Durgamati makers went for a title change before any controversy can erupt. This is because Durgavati is a celebrated historical figure who had bravely fought the Mughals. 3 years back, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had a harrowing time when he made a film on queen Padmavati. The film was ultimately rechristened to Padmaavat. The Bhumi Pednekar-starrer, however, is not about Rani Durgavati but still they decided to change it to Durgamati as a precaution.”

The source, however, clears the air that no group or organization had protested against Durgavati’s title. “If there had been a protest or objection, then the media would have known. These groups thrive on the attention they receive from the press. So they would have definitely publicized their disgust over the title. But that’s not been the case and hence, it seems like the makers renamed the title on their own without any pressure. As the Hera Pheri meme goes, bilkul ricks nahi lene ka,” laughs the source and signs off.

Despite repeated attempts, Durgamati’s producer Vikram Malhotra remained unavailable for comment.

Durgamati is a remake of 2018 successful Tamil horror film Bhaagamathie. Just like the original, the remake is also directed by G Ashok. It will release on December 11 on Amazon Prime.
