Een uitgelezen december
Ontdek op boek&babbel mijn laatste wrap-up van 2022. Het was de moeilijkste maand om een favoriet te kiezen.
In december primeerde kwaliteit duidelijk boven kwantiteit. Ik las maar zes boeken, maar het waren stuk voor stuk pareltjes. Continue reading Untitled

The outfit I made for my Legate Trunnion fan-dragon scry!
Kind of unfortunate that maintenance happened today because I was planning on editing it and changing the hat (it just wasn't working with the rest of the outfit, it's like, two or three shades too dark), though I am also glad that the staff were so quick to prevent any more malicious attacks!
Since FR is down

One Minute Reflection – 16 October – “The Month of the Most Holy Rosary and of the Angels” – Feast of the Purity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and of St Hedwig of Andechs (1174-1243) Widow – Proverbs 31:10-31, Matthew 13:44-52 – Scripture search here: https://www.drbo.org/ “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure  hidden in a field; he who finds it, hides it and in his joy, goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” – Matthew 13:44 REFLECTION – “In my opinion, it would be unworthy of us to withdraw, even for a moment, from the contemplation of Christ. When we have lost sight of Him, even briefly, let us turn our mind’s regard back to Him, directing the eyes of our heart, as by a very straight line. For everything lies in the soul’s inner sanctuary. There, after the devil has been expelled and the vices no longer reign at all, the Kingdom of God can be established in us, as the Evangelist says: “For amen I say to you that the Kingdom of God is within you.” But within us there can be nothing else than knowledge or ignorance of the truth and the love, of either the vices, or the virtues, by which we make ready a Kingdom in our hearts, either for the devil or for Christ. The Apostle Paul also describes the characteristics of this Kingdom when he says: “For the Kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Thus, if the Kingdom of God is within us and the Kingdom of God is itself, righteousness and peace and joy, then, whoever abides in these things, is undoubtedly in the Kingdom of God … Let us lift up the eyes of our soul to that Kingdom which is endless joy!” – St John Cassian (c360-435) Monk, Theologian, Founder of Monasteries, Father of the Church, Disciple of St John Chrysostom (Conferences No 1).

I'm curious about hedwigs dad who is he? What's he like? Has hedwig introduced us to him I got so many question but I feel as if i'd overwhelm asking them all
But the big one is what's hedwigs home life like?
Also if not taken can I be 💳 anon which means I'm finna spam hedwig content because who wouldn't want a rich yandere willing to commit arson for you
[Welcome!!<3 You can absolutely be 💳 anon!! I'm curious about your questions hehe and you're right, who would want a rich yandere who's willing to commit arson for you? <3]
Some more information
Tumblr media
Okay, so, Hedwig is old money. Her wealth goes back quite a few generations. She might be noble, but i haven't decided that. This family has class and connections (hence why Hedwig has an easy time hiring hitmen).
Hedwigs dad is a businessman who owns a company similar to Apple or Samsung and is selling a lot of popular products. He specializes in smart watches.
Hedwig has most likely introduced you to her parents. Her mother, for the record, is a former actress! She's been in major Hollywood films during her late teens and early twenties! She's so similar to how Hedwig looks now, just as beautiful.
Hedwig’s home life is interesting. When she was a little child, her mother was still acting a lot, which meant that nannies took care of her most hours of the day. But she doesn't hate her parents! Not at all. She's very grateful for everything they've given her! Now that she's almost an adult, she doesn't have the closest relationship with her parents because her dad still works a lot, and her mom is often with friends. She never got to know them fully. So often, you and Hedwig have the gigantic house to yourself. The staff won't bother you.
Her parents loves you because you make their little angel happy (and occupied so she won't bother them) and would happily help Hedwig keep you by her side <3

Ooh, I'd love to hear about Strange Horticulture or the White Road!
Strange Horticulture is a video game. It’s quirky and chill and atmospheric. You run a plant shop, receive mail, find cryptic notes in your desk from the previous owner, and make concoctions from your plants to sell to customers. Periodically you get to travel and source new plants for your shop. It rains often. It feels very Victorian. You can water and rearrange your potted plants. You have a cat.
I’m aware that by making Harry a plant shop owner, I’m pulling him pretty far from his canon blueprint. That’s more the kind of thing Neville would do. But I think I can make it work. I love the idea of how much Lily could have influenced Harry with her Potions expertise. I easily imagine little Harry tagging along with his mother when she set off into the woods to find mushrooms and sap and plants, etc, and help her chop and brew. The fact that you do get to make potions fits in nicely.
It's been a while since I’ve played the game so I’m stretching my memory, but the protagonist has memory problems that seem to hint toward something big and dramatic and there is a cult in the town that is trying to resurrect some kind of demon and you’re kinda in the middle of it.
ALSO, I recently read (and bounced off of cuz I wasn’t enjoying it) Into the Woods by Tana French. In that story when the main character was a child, he and his friends were in the woods and were attacked. The two friends are never found again and the survivor has lost all memories of the event. That was a very compelling idea to me and it’s something I’m mulling about in regards to this story, especially if I decide to lean into the memory loss/amnesia that is implied in the game. But I also may not do any of that. Or I may go down an entirely different road.
I don’t have a whole lot of ideas yet for this one, so I’ll just list some of the big ones down below.
Instead of a cat, Harry has Hedwig.
Snape will be a friend to Harry. I’m leaning more towards making him the same age as Harry, but we’ll see. I think he could still have a crush on Lily but in a childhood/innocent kind of way that would make Harry often say, “EW. GROSS!” We’ll see. This might change.
Tom will obviously be involved in the cult and trying to utilize Harry for his own gains, but I’m not all that sure what that’s going to be yet. I kinda like the idea of him playing Harry – being a charming, handsome, helpful member of the community who is there to welcome the newest addition to the village and get into bed with him as soon as possible while also unleashing a hellish demon.
When Harry gets particularly stressed, he waters his plants and between this cult and rumors of a demon creature terrorizing the countryside and the romantic drama that I imagine Tom might cause, and the possibility of old memories returning of his two childhood friends getting eaten by said demon, Harry’s gonna be watering his plants a LOT. I have such a vision of him in one of these nervous/frantic states and he grabs the watering can and starts pouring it over some poor plant and Tom saying, “Don’t you think that’s enough?” And Harry notices what he’s doing and the poor plant’s practically drowning, flailing its tendrils, and he replies, “It can take it.”
>>>
The White Road is a short story by Kelly Link. It follows a group of traveling performers in a post-apocalyptic setting. The story is very loose and doesn’t explain a whole bunch which means there’s a lot of room for interpretation. In the story, these strange entities walk the White Road. The White Road is always there, always following, always in the corner of your eye. At night, the creatures that walk the road seek others out and if there isn’t a dead body around, they kill everyone, so if night rolls around and you don’t have a dead body, someone pretends to be dead and everyone else pretends to be mourning them. The traveling group goes from town to town, performing and delivering mail.
Now let’s talk about Harry. Harry will be a member of the group, along with Snape and Tom. (I’m not sure yet who else will be part of the caravan.) Whenever the caravan comes to a town, it’s a big deal. It’s a big deal because they have a doctor (Snape) and they have Harry who can see and communicate with the dead. People will flock to him to seek closure and the caravan is extremely protective of Harry because he (along with Snape) turn out the crowds more so than their renditions of Much Ado About Nothing.
Tom is the interesting one in this. With his personality, you’d think he’d be the guy in charge, but I’m not sure if that’s what I *want* to do. I do think of him as the protector of the group. The one who doesn’t mind taking care of threats and problems with violence and he’s killed quite the number of people. Harry’s going to be a later addition to the caravan and Tom is fascinated and scared of him for what he can do. He’s never really thought about the people he’s killed and the idea that they might be (and some of them are) following him and talking shit about him unnerves him. He’s also extremely attracted to Harry and will be pretty irritated when Harry refuses his advances every time. He will be EXTREMELY irritated when, for example, he learns that instead of sleeping with him – the most handsome bloke for miles – Harry decides to sleep with Snape. It’s gonna be that kind of dynamic, where everyone in the caravan knows everyone’s business and everybody’s hooking up with everybody else.

1, 3, and 6 for the rvd finale ask game!!!!
1. Who is your favorite character?
wouldn't it be wild if it wasn't archie? all this blogging and for what.
3. Which season is your favorite, and which plot of that season do you like most?
i think s5? i need to do a full-series rewatch to decide for sure but s5 really got me on the emotional layer, i felt like i was really vibing with these adult cinematic trauma flash-forward takes on our established characters and dynamics, and all of the playfulness with the very form of The TV Show itself. someone in academia will someday write some shit about how "genre itself" is a character in riverdale and that is most apparent in s5 imo. you can leave the town of riverdale but if you can't subvert your genre programming then what does it matter? also remember how archie is a dog but also a vigilante but also a soldier in a trench listening to his friends suffer the cruel whims of yet another narcissistic authority figure who might get away with it. and also he's inhaling the fumes from the mines and flipping out on his therapist and having hiram lodge nightmares STILL and
6. Which musical episode is your favorite?
i always have my updated musical episode ranking at-hand:
archie the musical. obvious reasons
(close close second) hedwig and the angry inch. this was for me. like. the way they adapted the themes/concerns of the original musical to the ongoing s4 character subplots was so loving and thoughtful. the performances were such loving and thoughtful send-ups of the 2001 movie. kj apa IS michael pitt. it was loving and it was thoughtful and stephen trask collaborated!! riverdale is queer culture and roberto was RIGHT to write the names of the gang into the list of queer pop culture icons in midnight radio. they are.
next to normal - soooo witty how they worked such extremely literal lyrics into new scenarios. like a pun in musical theater reference-making form. great performances. interesting new angle on the now-familiar rvd musical episode format. no notes
carrie - as a musical episode? unremarkable. but as an episode? iconic. has the barely-subtextual sugar daddy vs dad hirarchie loyalty triangle subplot going for it and one of my favorite archie parentification bits. and it's all played in contrast with cheryl actually setting boundaries with her mom via fire and blood. these are all major selling points for me
heathers - i'm gonna say something sooooooooooooo brave (like BRAVE brave) and it's that i don't like all camp. some camp is not good, and heathers the musical is bad camp. and i don't think rvd did anything that interesting with it as far as telling character stories or making me think differently about a dynamic/plot. i love veronica's parental divorce B plot, i love those as a rule. and i love all of the heavy-handed hairflip sound effects, this is where they first really started to pop off i think. yk?
american psycho - i'm donna tartt. and also i don't think roberto is so good at lyricism or that he has so much to say about patrick bateman that he needed to adapt this again

Update: Both pieces of Blaine’s wardrobe have been sold! ˵ ´ ˘ ` ˵ ♡ All items in this post have found their new homes. ♡ Hello! ˵ ´ ˘ ` ˵ ෆ。◌ I’m selling my little set of Blaine outfit from the Glee Auction 2016, and of course I can ship internationally (from Singapore!) to wherever you are! ♡
It’s a set of two from Blaine’s wardrobe in Season 4 Episode 15, “Girls (and Boys) On Film,” from the scene where Blaine gets grumpy with Mr Schue because he did his lil’ cop-out and told them they’re all winners. (”You always do that!” ૮ •ิ ﻌ •ั ˵ა) The sweater is the “Navy Waffle Knit Long-Sleeve V-Neck Sweater with Red & White Stripe,” from Fred Perry. (You can also find Fashion of Glee’s post here, albeit it’s in kid’s size!)
And the shirt is the “Gray Long-Sleeve Button-Down Shirt,” from Ben Sherman.
They also came included with their copy of certificate of authenticity for Lot 341 (the collection they’re from) from Profile in History (I wasn’t sure if it’s safe to post the whole certificate here, so please feel free to message me for the photo of the whole certificate! ˵ ´ ˘ ` ˵). ♡
If it’s alright I’m just hoping to make back what I got them for or at a similar price ($240 USD). ♡
Update: The Hedwig hoodie has been sold! ˵ ´ ˘ ` ˵ ♡ I also have a Hedwig and the Angry Inch Hoodie Sweater from the 2016 Tour when Darren reprised his role as Hedwig in San Franciso!
I don’t remember anymore how much it sold at retail... I think it was more but if I’m wondering if $50 USD would be alright? ; o (\ (But please feel free to message me! ♡)
It had the blessing of being “spat” on by Darren’s Hedwig (the bit when she sips from her sippy bottle and shows us her “Rock and Roll” gesture—but of course it was properly washed and cleaned after!), and hugged by Darren at stagedoor. ♡

(more…)

On the list of unhinged rants I have about Radovid the Fifth of Redania I will begin with why I don't think he's actually insane and the argument that he is along with the madness plotline in the Witcher 3 is actually playing into demonising people who experience psychosis and not an actual conscious choice to make a character actively going through a psychotic break.
First we need to establish that Radovid is seventeen in the Witcher 3. He's born in 1255, he's been abused by Philippa Eilhart most of his life. That's canon. I WILL pull up the flavour text book screenshots from the Witcher 3 if you ask.
Now, I am not saying severe PTSD cannot trigger psychotic episodes, but I don't think that's what Radovid is experiencing. He's a severely abused child in a position of power who likely killed his mother to get that (as Hedwig was the Queen and who got control when Vizimir passed.) This sparking the Philippa fled conversation in the Witcher 2 torture scene (remember he's 16 there.) Radovid says "you fled so fast I didn't have time to give you a proper goodbye." He knows she killed his father. How? Likely the Redanian Intelligence network which is larger and better than the Nilfgaardian intelligence sector, nothing to scoff at. We came to this conclusion based on the reasoning Dijkstra flees Redania and runs off to zerrikania and gets himself an elf boyfriend.
Radovid is completely grounded to reality in these moments. He knows what he's doing to Philippa he knows why, he does not seem to be hallucinating, he's strategizing, he's acting logically, his speech is not slurred, it is coherent in a normal cadence and speed, he's fine.
No the Witcher 3 madness plotline is likely there to play into stereotypes about psychosis and to make you more sympathetic to killing Radovid should you choose to go through Reasons of State (though I don't know why you would the only person acting in character in that questline is Philippa who absolutely would kill the child she abused for gouging her eyes out because you know, that's normal and healthy). From a narrative purpose it has a function, it's just a bad function.
Radovid's portrayal, especially in the Witcher 3, by CDPR seems to narratively be used to push you towards the Empress Ciri ending should you choose to sell her to Emhyr (again, don't know why you would but okay.) It is done to make Philippa more sympathetic and to make everything about Radovid less icky. If he is not an abused teenager, it's not as uncomfortable to kill him, and it makes going for the Empress Ciri ending more palatable. I have. Feelings about this and I could elaborate but it's midnight so I will not.

Looking back at 2024, it is fair to say that Netflix has rendered some of the movie content to its massive audience. Usually, I have a love-hate relationship with Netflix movies, but looking back at the new releases of this year, we have quite a cue of chart-topping films. Films that were adored by fans and loved by critics. Wrapping the year up, we have lined up Top 5 New Movies on Netflix Released in November. From lighthearted rom-coms to Oscar-worthy performances, November has a lot to offer. 1. The Piano Lesson August Wilson’s iconic play finally adapted. The plot is set in the 1950s, capturing a complicated narrative centered around a piano. A sacred family heirloom that tells a tale of unresolved trauma. The story unfolds into a tug between Willie, who wants to sell it and Berniece who’s against the idea. Starring Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, Danielle Deadwyler and Ray Fisher, it is one to look forward to. 2. Joy If you love movies about scientific discoveries like me, this one’s for you. Joy recounts the extraordinary story of the world’s first test tube baby. Robert Edwards and surgeon Patrick Steptoe embark on a remarkable journey of battling against infertility and creating IVF. From the lens of embryologist Jean Purdy, the film pays homage to these three incomparable scientists who brought the joys of parenthood to countless families. 3. Emilia Perez A strong contender for Oscars, presenting Selena Gomez, Karla Sofia Gascon, and Zoe Saldana in lead roles. The Mexican drug cartels with a trans-twist and musical touches is nothing you’ve ever seen before. Breaking barriers of self-expression, cultural identity, and social freedom, it is one of the most anticipated releases of this year. 4. Our Little Secret A holiday-turned fiasco. Lindsay Lohan is returning with another rom-com this year after working on The Irish Wish and Falling For Christmas. As Avery arrives to celebrate Christmaswith his boyfriend, she finds his ex-boyfriend dating his sister. And that’s where their little secret takes over the holiday season. 5. The Snow Sisters Based on the book by Maja Lunde and Lisa Aisato, this beautiful children’s story will lift your holiday sprites in the best way. As an eleven-year-old boy drifts away from the warm and homely joy of Christmas, he meets Hedwig who is extremely fond of Christmas. However, Hedwig is both mysterious and positively enigmatic. We still have a month more to go before 2024 is over. And yet we’re loaded with promising content to look forward to. Which one of these Top 5 New Movies on Netflix are you excited for? Let us know in the comments.   Happy Watching! Read the full article

Harry Potter Merchandises 🔥
Recently a lot of Harry Potter merchandise has become available in my country! 💙
Tumblr media
First, there was a pop-up store open for two weeks, featuring some very exquisite items. They were costly but definitely worth it, especially the collectible wands 🔥
Tumblr media
Lately, Miniso has also started selling Harry Potter merchandise at selected stores, and luckily, one of them is near my house! I was surprised because the first time I saw Miniso's Harry Potter collaboration was in another country, so I didn't expect it to arrive here so quickly 😭 Lots of items are already out of stock, like the golden snitch keychain and most of the Hedwig items (I'll go back next week to check again 😂) Still, I managed to buy a lot of the things I wanted, like the Time Turner keychain, The Monster Book of Monsters keychain, a Ravenclaw pillow, the Deathly Hallows keychain, the Sword of Gryffindor keychain, and more ❣️
Tumblr media
I've spent a lot over these past two weeks, my budget is burst lmaooo, but it's totally worth it 😭
I'll do a detailed photoshoot of each item that I think is worth collecting. I might also do a keychain collection photoshoot once I have all the keychains I want 😌

I miss live theater! I'm getting antsy about it! Idk about broadway, but I think once the weather gets better we really need to start looking into outdoor shows. Like, some shows are impossible to do outside, I get that, but there are plenty that are doable! Smaller, localized outdoor performances of shows would be cheaper to put on and safer for an audience, plus would put a lot of artists back in work like...come on people Please who do I write to to get this ball rolling
- Hair. Hair literally,,,,doesn't even Have a set and for the most part the hippies are supposed to be out in a field. The only thing I could see being a problem is the snow machine for 'the flesh failures' but like...not impossible to set that up. Put the show in an actual field and the show gets even more interactive than it already is! Sell customed themed face masks with the tickets! Blankets for the audience to sit on can be spread out around the cast at safe distances. oooh and can you imagine how cool a night show would be??? yelling 'LOOK AT THE MOON' while the moon is actually out? I'm getting literal chills imagining the draft card burning scene right now, it's dark and they shut off the other lights so the trashcan is the main source of light and Claude singing right over it....chills, I tell you.
- Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It's literally a concert?? any outdoor concert pavilion would work? hell, if that's to pricey to rent out, in the show the concert is supposed to be in a parking lot lmfao so the cheaper the venue the better. You know how sometimes James Corden does a bit where they put on musicals during traffic??? That is SUCH a Hedwig vibe idk you could have a LOT of fun staging that show outside
- Rent. First of all, pandemic, housing and renting crisis, depressed young adults who desperately want hope for the future, so much else like...I'm sorry a Rent revival would slap so hard right now. The only set Rent ever has is like, a table and a scaffolding, maybe two tables if you're lucky. You can set that up anywhere. Fuck, find an actual empty lot for it. absolute vibes. Scatter the life support people throughout the audience. Whenever Mark isn't 'on stage' have him walk throughout the crowd filming people. Angel can be playing the tub drums while people enter the area and find their seats. When Roger leaves the apartment for the first time he actually fully leaves the show area until Christmas Bells starts up. The homeless characters can be scattered around the audience...like it's Easily good
- Hadestown. Okay listen. since I saw Hadestown I've wanted to see it as interactive. And what I'm proposing here is definitely crazy but NOT impossible and I feel like it would def draw an audience if only out of curiosity. Okay so like...have the show move. Like, there's an area set up for the bar in the beginning, tables strewn around with the audience and cast sitting together (at a safe distance ofc) so it feels like you're really IN the show. and when the story moves past that setting...so does the audience. Like, following Eurydice as she gets lost and dies (oof Hermes trying to get through to Orpheus can be like pre-recorded or in a different area so you can only Hear them while watching Eurydice) and then like listen....what town doesn't have an abandoned railroad track. I know it's an out there idea but would it not be so COOL to see all the railroad scenes staged on an actual railroad? Oh God and for the end the audience is once again following Eurydice, only seeing Orpheus's back until he turns around a second to soon....tell me you wouldn't get so wrapped up in the drama of that moment? hello? managing to pull off a production like this would simply fuck so hard I'm sorry
I'm tired so I'm stopping this post for now but like....I miss theater so much please let's just get safely creative please
