I didn't know that watching icicles melt was just what my heart needed - a reminder that no state, however cold or uncomfortable, is constant. We freeze, we melt, and then we flow.

1. Three-nonromantic duos : Disaster Twins (Rise!leo and rise!donnie), Toph and Katara, and Sonic & Tails
2. A ship that might surprise others : Showtime! (Caine x Pomni from TADC) though i am a multi-shipper and kinda like any pairing that makes sense, but sm-baby sucked me in with their amazing art
3. Last song : Précis by Vansire
4. Last film : Inside Out (not my first time watching it, i burst into tears in the place i was watching it at)
5. Currently reading : I’m about to start I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios (picked up for free from the library!)

1. Three non-romantic duos: Anakin & Rex, Nancy & Peggy, Christina & Melanie
2. A ship that might surprise others: Ben/Rey. Except not the way it's done in the movies.😅 There's a bunch of AU versions I've seen in fanart that made me start liking them, and now I have my own AU for them.
3. Last song: 'The Force Theme' by Samuel Kim.
4. Last film: Revenge of the Sith last night with my big brother.
5. Currently reading: lots of SW fanfic, Jedi Trial by David Sherman and Dan Cragg
6. Currently watching: Loki w my sister, Book of Boba Fett w a friend
7. Currently consuming: last thing I ate was a bowl of granola for breakfast
8. Currently craving: to turn my phone off and concentrate on writing for a solid hour. I have a fic to finish.

on paper/on the cover: the book has a lot of promise. it plays to many hot topics, pretty designs, loopy prose and a good olde sister duo. but it fails, miserably, and bulldozes every “reference” it claims to supplement itself with
- a white affluent teenager laments for pages to an asian american man about her ethnic identity and the struggle it presents for her (cites family dating back to the mayflower as a reference)
- same character relates her struggle to that of her black friends adopted by white parents! and jealously compliments her friends sassy comeback after experiencing racism in a grocery store unprompted!!
- another white affluent teenager monologues sarcastically about how she resents the concept of white privilege because someone in therapy told her “she couldn’t be sad” because of it
- aforementioned asian american mans first entire PAGE of page time is spent being compared to and equated with former white affluent teens favorite manga character.
- said asian american character monologues about how race and social identity constructs aren’t necessary! and he resents them! and also enjoys being compared to said manga character to microaggressive strangers
- the only black character in this book is a walking dharma text. her only backstory is presented to progress mae’s journey as a caregiver and she is the most side of side characters
- speaking of mae! demetrios has the gall. to say that her father named her mae after the first black woman in space as a prophecy for mae (affluent white teen) to become an astronaut. i was so taken aback reading this
- it’s embarrassing to see how this white author made the following concepts (or amalgamations of them warped away from their previous context) personality traits or development plots for the mentioned two affluent white teens: meditation, dharma, tarot/ various spiritual practices such as smudging and many more
- with no allusions to autistic coding or otherwise implied socioemotional boundaries, mae is insufferable. if demetrios wanted a mad scientist nerd trope, she could have had it. instead mae uses literal astrophysics equations to “work the problem” of her sisters opiate addiction, which is repeatedly used to prop up her own development which is.. none?
- hannah doesn’t have much of a character design beyond her addiction which is.. intentional maybe? either way, she seems to be somewhat self aware yet not enough to realize the abuse others are dealing to her. either way i can’t speak much to the depiction of addiction but i know it was not NEARLY foretold enough and could be massively triggering had someone not read comprehensive reviews. i’m talking multiple overdoses and sh
- hannah’s acorns are half baked and annoying, mae’s caps lock monologues are the most skippable parts of the book and the aunt and uncle are cardboard presences at best. the pacing felt sloppy, but droned at the end to provide another (?) relapse and awakening for hannah which could have been avoided
- even if you ignore the casual racism and embarrassing arguments this book is a thinly veiled disaster and i’m black listing demetrios for the future! byeeee

CODE NAME BADASS
THE TRUE STORY OF VIRGINIA HALL

Code Name Verity meets Inglourious Basterds in this riotous, spirited biography of the most dangerous of all Allied spies, courageous and kickass Virginia Hall. When James Bond was still in diapers, Virginia Hall was behind enemy lines, playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse with Hitler’s henchmen. Did this shero have second thoughts after a terrible accident left her needing a wooden leg? Please. Virginia Hall was the baddest broad in any room she walked into. When the State Department proved to be a sexist boys’ club that wouldn’t allow her in, she gave the finger to society’s expectations of women and became a spy for the British. This boss lady helped arm and train the French Resistance and organized sabotage missions. There was just one problem: The Butcher of Lyon, a notorious Gestapo commander, was after her. But, hey—Virginia’s classmates didn’t call her the Fighting Blade for nothing. So how does a girl who was a pirate in the school play, spent her childhood summers milking goats, and rocked it on the hockey field end up becoming the Gestapo’s most wanted spy? Audacious, irreverent, and fiercely feminist, Code Name Badass is for anyone who doesn’t take no for an answer.

-there is a little universe in all of us. We are filled with planets and stars, light and gravity, dark matter and a million other mysteries we will never understand. And the greatest mystery of all is that we are immortal. We will be reshaped, again and again, by the universe itself. And we will never die.
I knew while reading it that this book had changed my life.
