How to Find Affordable Health Insurance in Gilbert
Finding affordable health insurance in Gilbert can be a daunting task, but with the right steps, it can be accomplished. Here are some steps you can take to find affordable health insurance in Gilbert:
Determine Your Health Insurance Needs: Before shopping for health insurance, it's important to determine what type of coverage you need. Consider your budget, any pre-existing conditions you have, and any other factors that may affect your health care needs.
Compare Health Insurance Plans: Once you know your needs, research and compare health insurance plans from multiple providers. Compare the monthly premiums, out-of-pocket expenses, deductibles, and other factors that may affect the cost of coverage.
Check for Discounts and Subsidies: Many health insurance providers offer discounts and subsidies to help make coverage more affordable. Check with your employer, trade union, or professional association to see if they offer group health insurance plans that may be cheaper than individual plans.
Consider Catastrophic Health Insurance: If you're young and healthy, catastrophic health insurance may be an option to consider. These plans typically have lower monthly premiums but higher deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses.
Use a Health Insurance Broker: A health insurance broker can help you find the right coverage for your needs and budget. They can also help you navigate the enrollment process and provide you with expert advice.
Stay Healthy: One of the best ways to save money on health care is to stay healthy. Make sure to eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and avoid risky behaviors that could lead to costly health problems.
By following these steps, you can find affordable health insurance in Gilbert that meets your needs and budget.

Can't believe they had Brian "Had to make an entire YouTube video on how Health Insurance terms work" David Gilbert say that US healthcare is good.

I know, I feel like I'm only here to lurk and post once a year about a cool thing I found, but CALL TO ACTION FOR THE G/T COMMUNITY:
Yesterday one of my favorite performers, Brian David Gilbert, announced that he has been working on a kids show called Outdoor Ed for the past year or so. The entire premise surrounds Ed, a (in his words) "20-foot-tall mountain man who wants to make a nature show with the help of his woodland friends". There is a proof of concept video for this show coming out tomorrow on his YouTube channel.
For those who don't know BDG, he is a fantastic actor, extremely creative video producer, incredibly talented at making music in a variety of genres. If you aren't familiar with his work on the regular, you may have seen his Unraveled series on the YouTube channel Polygon (including his 40-minute presentation at PAX East about creating the perfect PokeRap):
youtube
Or possibly a video of his that went viral last year, explaining the US health insurance system:
youtube
What I'm trying to say is, he's got the range. If you want any modern video creator working on a creative children's show, it's him.
Not to mention, he's working with an extremely talented team to bring this proof of concept video to life. Look how cute these shots are!
Here's where the call to action comes in: this video premieres tomorrow on his YouTube channel. The more it gets shared and seen, the more likely it is to be picked up. Brian David Gilbert is also currently working at Dropout, an internet media production company that does a ton of insane things, so it's possible that he already has a potential foot in the door.
Everyone needs to watch this tomorrow specifically and share it around as much as possible. I can already tell it's going to be great, and if the video proof goes viral in the first few days, that could lead to more episodes being made or even a full show being produced. I'll post the link here when it premieres tomorrow. Please spread the word!

A terrible guide to the terrible terminology of U.S. Health Insurance
youtube
It's open enrollment season in the US! You know what that means: a fresh wave of rampant confusion over our shitty healthcare system! Are you a new adult trying to navigate healthcare by yourself for the first time? Or are you like me, a tired millennial who can never fucking remember all the terminology? Check out this funny and honestly really helpful video made by Brian David Gilbert.

Brian David Gilbert's "cursory and most likely useless guide to American health insurance terminology" is anything but useless, and I highly encourage giving it a watch or a listen. He makes several important points throughout while breaking industry jargon into more digestible layman's terms.
Below are comments on points I would like to echo or add to:
▻ BDG points out that the exorbitant cost of insurance premiums often puts people in a position of "betting on their health" by signing up for plans with lower premiums but higher out of pocket costs, hoping they will not need anything other than preventative care in a given year (5:34). I think this illustrates one of the flaws of privatized health insurance - this risk and cost is weighed on an individual level. I will discuss the cost of healthcare in another post.
▻ When he explains coinsurance, he states that a lower percentage is better because it is the portion that you pay, and that 100% coinsurance is a "dirty trick" (8:24). In my experience, insurance plans sometimes have the percent that the insurance covers written, while other plans are written the way BDG explains it. When evaluating insurance options or trying to understand the benefits you already have, this is important to check, as one document's 80% might be a better benefit than another document's 30%.
▻ In my prior career, I worked extensively with "tiered networks", also known as "narrow networks", and was glad to see BDG bring this trend up in the segment that starts at 14:41. These network structures are typically implemented a cost-saving measure. Sometimes, and ideally, they are supported by a close relationship between insurer and healthcare provider, that can facilitate community health initiatives. Patients are incentivized with a higher amount paid by insurance if they see certain providers, allowing them to afford to see the doctor more often. More people going to the doctor more regularly for low cost preventative care, such as diabetes management, saves the insurer from more expensive care, such as ER visits. The benefits to providers vary more, but can include better health outcomes and a smoother payment process. However, the insurance industry is far from ideal, and some tiered networks might save insurers money but ultimately cause more issues for patients and providers than they solve. The ugly truth is that some of the 'cost saving' comes from denying or paying less for claims from non-'tier one' providers - which just pushes the cost onto patients or their providers.
▻ "Almost every single thing about health insurance has been obfuscated" (25:48) and this hurts everyone except the insurance industry. I saw this first hand when I started working in a call center at 18, a job for which phase one of training took a month just to cover the basics about one type of insurance. No one should have to spend that amount of time just to scratch the surface on a system that can quite literally become life & death.
In the conclusion, BDG laments that he can't "dismantle the whole private health insurance system" in a video, and we are no better situated to accomplish that with this blog. But the effort to bring clarity matters, and so does the call for change. We may not have lobbying money like Blue Cross Blue Shield, but we have voices and can make them heard.

There’s just stuff I’m not even gonna fuckin’ talk about because I am so fucking tired
Off the top of my head, the stabbings in Ontario, oh god I haven’t checked on what’s going on in Brazil lately, I’m just not gonna. If my neighbors bring it up, I’ll be interested in their opinions, but I just can’t. Not without a reason. Like when my friend Tara and I were talking about Iranian politics and I mentioned my old supervisor had family in Tehran during the Arab Spring, and we just kinda... jinked away from the whole subject because oh god. They don’t need that right now. They live in the UK, that’s more than enough for now. oh god and the literally lethal heat wave in Mexico, fuck, that shit’s horrifying My child was upset about hearing about some guy who was hit with a $3000 hospital bill, so I uh I didn't make it better but I explained by showing them the Brian David Gilbert video about health insurance terminology. And then went on to clarify that part of how it got this way is that certain social classes got to a point where they were assumed to have health insurance and other benefits through a job, and we have never belonged to that class. I need sleep. If there’s an issue you care about that I have nothing to say about, I may or may not know about it, I may or may not have an opinion, but mostly I just... need to find something constructive to do rather than just be depressed about this shit.

Who was Tausha Haight ( Woman including her children murdered by devil husband ) Wiki, Bio, Age, Crime, Arrest, Incident details, Investigations and More Facts
Tausha Haight Biography Tausha Haight Wiki
Utah man killed seven family members, including his five children, ages four to 17, and then turned the gun on himself -- two weeks after his wife filed for divorce, authorities said.
Enoch city officials Thursday identified the suspected gunman in the murder-suicide as Michael Haight, 42, and the victims as his wife Tausha Haight, 40, their three daughters, ages 17, 12 and 7, and two children. 7 and 4 years old. Year. On Dec. 21, Tausha Haight filed for divorce from her husband Michael Haight. On Dec. 27 he was served with divorce papers. Yesterday, police in Utah found Tausha, her mother, and her five children all shot dead by their father, who then killed himself.https://t.co/QA1bIAu9bh pic.twitter.com/UNDG8X7rE8 — David Gilbert (@daithaigilbert) January 5, 2023 Tausha Haight's mother, Gail Earl, 78, was also killed, according to an Enoch City government news release. All of the victims appeared to have gunshot wounds. Court records showed Ms Tausha filed for divorce from Michael on December 21, but it wasn't immediately clear why she wanted to end their marriage. Police dispatched officers to check on the health of the Haight family on Wednesday after relatives and friends contacted officers and said they were concerned and had no news of the victims.
What Police Found?
Police found all eight family members dead in their home on Albert Drive, which was still decorated with Christmas lights. "At this time, we do not believe there is a threat to the public or that suspects are at large," officials said in a release. Michael Haight was listed as an Allstate insurance agent based in Cedar City, Utah, but a family friend told Fox 13 he quit his job days before the massacre. Enoch is a town of about 8,000 people located 245 miles south of Salt Lake City and about the same distance from Las Vegas. Enoch City Manager Rob Dotson said the community was shocked at news of the tragedy and the Haights were well known in the city. "A lot of us ministered with them at church, in the community, and went to school with these people," Dotson said Wednesday night. “This community is suffering right now. They feel loss, they feel pain, and they have many questions. All five of Michael and Tausha Haight's children attended schools in the Iron County School District, officials said in a letter to parents. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Thursday released a statement on behalf of President Biden and the First Lady, saying they "mourn the community of Enoch City" following the shooting.
Gun Violence:
"Too many Americans have lost loved ones or had their lives forever changed by gun violence, and gun violence remains the leading cause of child deaths in America," added Jean-Pierre. "Less than a month after 10 years since the Sandy Hook tragedy, another mass shooting has claimed the lives of five more children in Enoch City." Read the full article

A Disruptive Shrub
"A Disruptive Shrub!"
Mark 4:26-34 NRSVue
26He also said, “The kingdom of God is as if someone would scatter seed on the ground 27and would sleep and rise night and day, and the seed would sprout and grow, he does not know how. 28The earth produces of itself first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head. 29But when the grain is ripe, at once he goes in with his sickle because the harvest has come.
30He also said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? 31It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, 32yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.”
33 With many such parables he spoke the word to them as they were able to hear it; 34he did not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything in private to his disciples.
New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition (NRSVUE)
-------------------------------------------- Much of life's biggest lessons and learning come with patience. Faith, too, grows in the ebbs and flows of the lives of each of us. God is not impatient with our growth. God is the one who creates us from nothing and creates us each day of our lives. God grows love in us so that our love can shelter and comfort many others. Each of us are mustard seeds!
As I pass men, women, children, and teens lying on the street at night, see them around a fire in Golden Gate Park, literally begging for food, using drugs, dirty, and beaten; I open my door, go into a warm room, photos of my life, good food to eat and nice clothes to wear. I can take a shower twice a day, and have great health insurance just a call or page away, I feel sad and guilty. I feel guilty that I do not dare to live on the street and give everything away!
In the San Francisco Chronicle, there was a photo of Mayor Dianne Feinstein in 1986 moving a homeless encampment out of an area and getting all of them hotel rooms. She thought the problem was solved, today we have twice as many in the City with no housing.
The government fails time and time again because it fails to look at each person as an individual. It only cares about getting the "problem" out of the way.
We are called to be the "mustard" seed of compassion and care, we must see each person as our brother and sister.
We must be disruptic and move out of the status quo.!
And so after thirty years, my prayer is in my failures, and in my joys I have helped the mustard seed grow, and success can only be measured in our dedication to our path, and I have tried, I have tried so hard, and fallen many times but I have tried with all of heart!
My prayer is that I have helped plant the mustard seed in others. I close with a prayer, written by Hassidim, a father of the desert honoring Mary Magdalene:
"On my bed at night I sought him.
Whom my heart loves--
I sought him but I did not find him.
I will arise and go about the city; in the
streets and crossings I will seek
Him whom my heart loves.
I sought him but I did not find Him
Oh, that you were my brother, nursed at my
mother's breasts!
If I met you out of doors I would kiss you
and none would taunt me.
I would lead you, bring you in
to the home of my mother. . .
Rejoice with me who love the Lord, for
I sought Him and He appeared to me. And while I was weeping at the tomb I saw my Lord, Alleluia."
"Lord, our world is blighted by the destructive seeds of greed and oppression. But deep down there are also small seeds of justice, peace, and reconciliation. May I help them to grow?-(Unknown,"). Deo Gratias! Thanks be to God!
--------------------------------
"You can measure your worth by your dedication to your path, not by your successes or failures."
Elizabeth Gilbert
