This is funny because I started watching TOS in 2009 (after I was blown away with how great ST 2009 was ) and I literally thought this. There are SO many times I wanted someone to call HR on Kirk and Mccoy's racism just made me uncomfortable. (spock of course was great)

I know most ST fandom is centered around TOS (especially Sprik shippers) but some people really need to take off their rose tinted glasses. And talk about being centered towards the male gaze! AOS fixed a lot of things wrong with TOS. I just wish it got more than 6 and some hrs of screen time. I think that's the source of most of the AOS criticism. Not enough time for story telling. (I mean I get it, no way could you financially get those actors to commit to a TV series)

SNW is the exact opposite, a bunch of well written female characters that aren't being leared at. That version of Pike is actually the best example of non-toxic masculinity.
