Just a gentle reminder that everything you learned about St. Patrick- especially if you learned about him in Church- was kinda a lie.
#He may not have even existed a lot of historians believe he was multiple people#He didn’t drive the “snakes” out of Ireland because (1) that’s a rude term for people practicing their native beliefs#And (2) Ireland was still pagan even when it was becoming Christian#They coexisted for a good amount of time#A lot of his life has turned into myth and there’s no telling what about him is actually true#But that doesn’t make learning about Ireland any less interesting#Ireland is a country that’s been shit on again and again by the British yet they persevered#Truly an amazing country 🇮🇪#st patrick's day#History
