Over the last few months my friends and I have been playing a D&D game. It was my first time playing and I really enjoyed it. It was nice to have a friend with experience acting as DM, and a lot of fun. But I knew basically nothing and had to often pull up wikis to figure out how to do things.
Between our last session and our most recent one, I played and beat (twice) Baldur's Gate 3. And I learned... a lot.
So in our most recent session one of our characters got a potion of growth. The player who received it (also a first-timer) asks what it does.
Our DM says "well it increases your size and does something to modify your attack but I'm not sure - give me a second to look it up"
And without missing a beat I immediately go "it increases your character from medium to large and lets you deal 1d4 extra damage each attack."
I felt like a supergenius
#baldur's gate 3#baldur's gate#dnd#d&d#to be clear: my friend absolutely knows more about the actual game than I did and I was not acting like a know-it-all#I just happened to know this very specific fact off the top of my head because I had been playing BG3 earlier that day and used the potion#but my first session I was like 'what does 1d4 damage even mean????' and now I have like... a baseline of knowledge#He also mentioned Jergal in the session and I was like 'oh I know all about this dude but my character doesn't so I am just gonna shut up'
