Of all the things ive scrolled by going "wow. Glad im not in there." The most mundane and yet the most odd was the post I just scrolled by that included hatemail over mousse. That is, in case you didn't know, a type of food, normally dessert. Not fandom, politics, actors, or being on a spectrum (any spectrum). Wow. Just. Wow. The hatemail game on this site is insane (derogatory). Please get off the internet.

all of the above is absolutely correct, and i would like to add that there are some unique quirks to tumblr culture, where from an outsiders perspective, it may LOOK LIKE hatemail is acceptable and ok (ex: tumblr's hatemail game is insane) but in reality they are structured in a way that all parties involved generally agree that it is a joke

here's some "hatemail" that i've recived over the years that are obviously jokes:

I hope wasps build a nest under the hood of your car and when you turn your car on all of them come pouring out the vents into the cab

i hope your houseplants- past, present, and future- all die 

i will drink your blood eventually  

im going to kidnap you drag u to the desert and make u forget how to eat

I am coming to your house and replacing all of your shoelaces with noodles

while these may get you blocked/reported for these on other sites, in general on tumblr it is acceptable to express very strong emotions in a seemingly violent way as long as it is clearly more humerus than it is threatening.

TLDR: telling people to kill themselves is still wrong. telling people you hope they live forever just so you can put a piece of salami in all their left shoes until the inevitable heat-death of the universe is ok

Seein' too many Twitter refugees asking if they'll get in trouble for saying "kill yourself" to people and while no, you're not gonna get nuked from orbit, that is maybe something you just shouldn't be doing in general perhaps?? Maybe telling people to kill themselves is bad actually?? Some of y'all are wild, why is the first thing you can think to ask on a new platform if you can send one of the worst kinds of harassment to people?? Grow tf up and learn how to use the block button. It'll do wonders for your mood, trust me.
