The whole series is just extremely gender but you're completely correct. Pyrrha's depiction in Nona made me so happy.

I have so many thoughts about Nona The Ninth but I'll just start with how good gender was in ntn. Like at no point was Pyrra's identity/gender/role confusing for Nona.

Aim and Pash and Hot Sauce are all beautiful homos who use sir and ma'am and they and she interchangeably and powerfully. Everyone has undercuts or cool scars or suspenders and it's perfect.

Ianthe is a prince and a she and also wearing Naberius and that is also strangely empowering. And Palamedes is always Palamedes because he is, no matter what body He's in.

It's just so perfect and queer and liberating and a small detail that I loved so much and so unexpectedly.

It's interesting this is the only time, I believe, that Gideon calls her by a combination of her casual shortened name and her arythmonym. You don't get this combo anywhere else.

can I ask what evidence you have for harrow kissing Alecto the first time she went inside the tomb? I’ve seen people saying this but I never understood which passage this was referring to. Also, do you have any speculation on why their connection worked this way? I thought revenant magic only binded someone to an object/thing associated with their death, but how does Alectos spirit get displaced/eaten by harrow once she opens the tomb?

I am actually very surprised, because I thought this was explicit somewhere in Harrow the Ninth, but… apparently it isn't?
