August 28, 2024 - Red-naped Trogon (Harpactes kasumba) Found in parts of Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia, these trogons live in lowland and mountain forests and sometimes cocoa plantations. The details of their diet are not known, but they have been recorded eating spiders and stick insects and often forage with mixed-species flocks. Little is known about their breeding behavior though one of their nests was found in a cavity in a tree stump, containing two eggs. They are classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN due to rapid population declines caused by forest loss and fires.

July 15, 2023 - Red-headed Trogon (Harpactes erythrocephalus) These trogons are found in mountain forests in parts of South and Southeast Asia and southern China. They feed on insects, including stick-insects, grasshoppers, and flies, as well as leaves and berries. Pairs excavate nest hollows in the sides of rotten tree trunks or use holes made by woodpeckers. Both parents incubate the eggs and care for the chicks.
