She Wears the Pants (U-1146 Scenario)

Warnings: Appreciation for pretty red blood cells, implied AE-3803 x U-1146.

Anonymous Request: CAW: 3803 is on her rare day off with her friends at the WBC appreciation festival, wearing casual clothes for once. Which includes Pants. They run into the WBC squad and 1146 finds her lack of shorts in favor of leggings to be too weird to compute. In comes teasing.

U-2001, for all intents and purposes, was usually the voice of reason and rationality for the squad. In the event that he was not present (which, unfortunately, was most of the time), U-1146 or U-2626 could pick up the slack when it came to sensibilities. That, however, did not mean that they were without their faults.

U-2626 could easily be coaxed into needless mischief because both U-4989 and U-2048 (surprisingly), could be both the troublemakers if they so choose.

And 1146…

Well…

2001 did many things for his friends, but he wouldn’t allow them to play the fool so blatantly in public.

With a rough tap on the shoulder, 2001 drew 1146’s gaze back to him. Despite the gesture, 2001’s face held a bemused expression on his usually placid features.

Before 1146 could ask what was wrong, 2001 interjected. “You’re ogling.”

Now, 2001 was aware of how loud his voice was. That is, to say, he wasn’t speaking that loud at all. In fact, it was a soft murmur that most would have passed off as a rustle or a brush of wind against the ears unless you were actively paying attention to him. However, judging from 1146’s reaction, it was as if 2001 had shouted up to the rooftops alerting the rest of the body that 1146 was ogling.

1146’s face flushed a dusty shade of pink that lit up his cheeks, painted the tips of his ears a bright red, and his neck was absolutely rosy from embarrassment. It didn’t seem to matter anymore that 2001 had essentially tried to warn 1146 about his staring—1146 was going to out himself just by his reaction alone.

“And now, the others,” 2001 meant 4989, but 2626 and 2048 usually weren’t far behind in the gossip mill, “are going to get even more suspicious if you don’t stop looking like you’re thinking inappropriate thoughts.”

That snapped 1146 out of the hazy blush that threatened to give off the impression that he was severely sick.

Eyes narrowed and flushed with brazen anger, 1146 rounded on 2001, utterly perplexed that his close friend would suggest such a thing.

“I would never think such perverted—”

“And I never implied such a thing. However, staring for too long at a certain red blood cell in non-regulation attire on their day off is going to lend itself to more questions than you can ever hope to answer.” 2001 paused. “Unless you’re willing to be honest with yourself?”

1146 recoiled.

2001 continued, “Consider yourself lucky that the others are debating about the pros and benefits of using non-regulation weapons as a deterrent against pathogens.”

Behind them, 4989 cobbled bits and pieces of debris he found while 2626 was trying to reason with him. 2048, on the other hand, was idly commentating with remarks that toed the line between witty and rude. Thankfully, all three of them hadn’t noticed 1146’s abrupt descent into perversion and embarrassment.

“Look, I’m just a little bit…” What were the words that 1146 wanted to say? That he was so accustomed to the calm and normal of a balanced work life that he had forgotten that things could change? That minor details could be changed and that those same changes were… almost better than what he had seen before? Out of desperation, he waved his hands to demonstrate just how dire the situation was. “Have you seen Miss Red Blood Cell?”

2001’s eyes quickly assessed the erythrocyte before turning back to 1146.

“Yes.”

“And?”

“She looks exactly the same.” 2001 shrugged, seemingly nonplussed by 1146’s consternation. “Minus the standard uniform.”

1146’s voice started out low and almost threatening, but soon became shrill with previously repressed emotion. “A sweater! And leggings!”

2001 bit back a smile.

“And you find that interesting because…?”

1146 hid his face in his hands, which only exacerbated the redness that decorated his ears.

“I just… It’s weird that she looks like that, right?”

“She looks weird or you feel weird?”

1146 remained silent a touch too long; 2001 knew that he was right.

At that moment, 4989 piped up. “What’s weird?”

2001 couldn’t help himself. “1146 seems to be enamored with what our favorite red blood cell is wearing today.”

1146 screamed behind his hands.
