A/N: For the @geasszine! These two would have such a hard time with each other after it all, seeing their regrets in the other, feeling their guilt on the current situation, and very “I should be paying this price but you shouldn’t”.
I also really wanted to write about Euphie/Suzaku but that would be going full AU territory XD I had to settle with just mentioning her. They’re my Sakura/Syaoran in another universe
Nunnally wasn’t one to shirk her duties. She never had done so before her brother had declared war on their father, and she certainly wouldn’t now after the blood and tears it had taken for her to become Empress. Regardless if it were menial paperwork or enduring the dismissive attitudes of her political aides, she wore her best smile as she handled her empire.
It was the only way she could look in the mirror without feeling guilt for surviving when her siblings hadn’t.
Still, she was only human. Staring at the document on her desk, it was hard for even her to keep her smile. A two-week festival marking the one-year anniversary of her coronation, an event celebrating the fall of the Demon Emperor.
Her fingers trembled as she touched the paper. A year wasn’t long enough to heal all wounds and her own still felt fresh. In another year, Nunnally would be the same age as Lelouch when all of this had started. In two, she would surpass him entirely.
And now she had to stamp a paper cementing his memory as a monster into the minds of her people.
Her hand clenched, crinkling the document.
“Your Majesty?” From across the room, Zero turned his head away from the window to her. Ever the guard, his posture was stiff, ready to spring into action even in the relative safety of her study.
Nunnally bit her lip. No, not Zero. Suzaku. At the very least, in her mind, she refused to kill her old friend. There would be one person who would know and acknowledge his sacrifice, even if she could never speak of it.
“It’s fine,” Nunnally said, trying and failing to keep her smile. Taking a deep breath, she smoothened the document. The creases remained. “Schneizel won’t like that.”
Not buying her excuses, Suzaku crossed over. The concern in his voice was more prominent now. “What is the matter?”
Even his speech was formal these days. It was almost enough to make her cry. They were the only ones who knew each other, who knew the truth, and even then, there was a wall between them. “It’s been a year.”
“Ah.” Suzaku was quick on the uptake. He gently squeezed her hand as he scanned the document. “A festival?”
“Yes, Schneizel organized it.” Perhaps that was the worst part of it all: her older brother had cheerfully and proudly set this up. Even if she wanted to talk about the past, about simpler times, Cornelia was still venomous from Euphy’s death and Schneizel didn’t care to reminisce.
There was something lonely about the fact that the only one she could talk to about Lelouch was a man who refused to remove his mask.
“You do not have to attend,” Suzaku suggested kindly.
“No.” Nunnally shook her head. “The people will wonder otherwise and I…I cannot let his work go to waste.” She bowed her head slightly, her shoulders heavy. “I just wish…I wanted to buy flowers but…there is nowhere to send them.”
There was no grave for Lelouch; it would have been vandalized, his body dug up and defiled. Euphemia’s grave had been destroyed along with Pendragon and most of their siblings. The only marker she could send lilies to was Shirley’s.
Suzaku’s breath hitched. “The school,” he said after a moment.
Nunnally softened, glancing at one of the photos on her desk. One of the only photos surviving of their time at the student council. She reached out, her fingers brushing her brother’s smiling image, his arm casually slung over Suzaku’s shoulders. Perhaps that had been the happiest time for him, before there had been no going back. “Yes, you’re right. He would have liked that.”
“Perhaps the clubroom,” Suzaku added softly.
"Yes.” Nunnally reached out, grabbing his hand. “And for Euphemia?”
He flinched. Despite the years, some wounds did not heal. “That…” Suzaku averted his gaze, his hand trembling. “You should decide.”
“I am not the only one who mourns her,” she said softly. “She would have wanted you to choose.”
“Zero is the reason she is dead,” Suzaku replied quietly.
“You didn’t do that.” Nunnally gritted her teeth. There were so few things left that could make her angry and most of them were concentrated on the man in front of her. Neither Zero nor Suzaku, neither dead nor alive, her constant companion straddled two worlds and she was tired of it.
She didn’t want to mourn one more person, especially if she saw that person on a daily basis.
“Despite what the world thinks, you aren’t dead,” Nunnally ground out, trying to keep her ire out of her voice. “You don’t have to act like you are! At least not here, not when it’s just you and me.”
Suzaku tried to pull his hand free, and she dug her nails in. “Your Majesty—," he started.
“Nunnally,” she corrected firmly. “We’re alone. Please, just call me by my name, Suzaku. Like you used to.”
He breathed in sharply before double-checking their surroundings. “You do not know who is listening.”
“You personally secured this room,” she reminded him, finally letting go of his hand. The walls were thick, the door solid wood, and the only ones who could enter were the two of them. “Please, take off your mask. You don’t always have to be Zero.”
Suzaku stepped back, his hands fisted. “I must. That is my penance.”
For what, Nunnally didn’t ask. There was too much blood on both of their hands to ask such a naïve question. In all the ways that mattered, Suzaku both was and wasn’t the boy she used to know, the kid that squabbled with her brother and took his oaths far too seriously. The one that always smiled when he met her, the one who got bitten by cats and felt too much for those he cared for. His innocence had disappeared with the soft click of a gun.
It was just as well. Nunnally both was and wasn’t the girl she used to be either, the girl who could only cry and follow her siblings. Even here, even now, she was still chasing Lelouch’s and Euphemia’s shadows. Her life wasn’t her own to live, it hadn’t been since she’d asked for the trigger to a bomb.
Too much had happened for them to go back to who they used to be.
“And what about my penance?” she asked, her eyes meeting his. “Is suffering the only way to atone?”
“No,” he replied sharply. Then, gentler, “No.”
Nunnally’s eyes stung, her throat burned. There was a secret she couldn’t share with anyone, not even Suzaku, and it was this: she hated her brother. Not once had he brought her into his plans, not once had he given her a choice in the matter. Whether it was to destroy Britannia or himself, all she could do was watch from the sidelines.
Maybe she could have saved him.
Maybe she could have died with him.
Yet, here she was, alone with feelings she couldn’t do anything about. There was no one left to yell at, no one to take her anger out on. Lelouch was dead and the dead couldn’t hear the wails of the survivors no matter how loud she was.
She refused to allow Suzaku to do the same.
“Then why must you?” she shouted, unable to rein in her anger. Her helplessness. “Lelouch told you to be Zero. That doesn’t mean you can’t be Suzaku too. At least not here.” Nunnally’s hands clenched on her wheelchair’s arms, and she bit her cheek to keep herself from crying. Her voice still broke. “At least not with me.”
“That…” Suzaku reached up to touch his mask, his fingers pressing against the left side. Nunnally could almost see the bloody fingerprints Lelouch had left behind, the last wound he had left on Suzaku. “That is not something I deserve.”
“Then what do I deserve?” Nunnally asked, her voice wobbly as she furiously blinked back her tears. “You’re not the only one who killed.”
Suzaku fell silent, unable to refute, unable to agree.
In the end, they both had their cross to bear, their ghosts to appease. Nunnally pressed a button on her wheelchair and rolled over toward him. Clasping his hand between hers, she tried again. “We both have a lot to make up for. But…this suffering. This refusal to allow ourselves to be happy—it won’t help anyone. Lelouch wouldn’t have wanted that. Euphy wouldn’t have liked that.” She squeezed his hand and whispered, “I’m tired of living with ghosts. Please don’t be one of them too.”
There was a long silence and her heart dropped. Perhaps, in the end, her words weren’t enough. She wasn’t enough. Suzaku had always taken it on himself—
Suzaku squeezed back, breaking her thoughts. “Sometimes, I think I have forgotten how to live otherwise. It is hard. But…” He reached up with his other hand and took off the mask. Nunnally hadn’t seen his face in over a year but the familiarity of it made her ache and this time she didn’t stop her tears. “I’ll try, Nunnally.”
“That’s all I wanted,” she replied softly.

I am torn between asking Top 5 Songs and Top 5 Memories so can i ask both?
If it’s not too much? :3c
(If it’s too much I’ll pick one!)
Both is good! We'll start with songs in no particular order:
Equlibrium (Sophia's theme) One of my first favorites! I used to listen to it so much I still remember most of the lyrics by heart haha.
A Long Fall (Twinning theme) I mean, who doesn't love the party dungeon song?
Unbreakable (Fractal Continuum theme) and by extension, Order yet undeciphered (Azys Lla theme). I'm cheating and putting these out together since Unbreakable has Order yet undeciphered's leitmotif in it.
Neath Dark Waters (Amaurot overworld theme) I'm weak for that leitmotif and this one is my favorite one of the different versions.
Last one uhhhhhhh Close in the Distance. Very closely tied with Flow Together, but this was the song I liked so much that I speedran Ultima Thule fates in like two days so I could have the song playing in our house.
Then, top 5 memories. Hmm, this'll require some thinking because my memory is swiss cheese and things just fall out of there if I rattle my head around too much.
First one that comes to mind is our first run of Gubal. Our group (whm, drg and dnc) rolls in with sprouts on and all of us in cutscene. When we got out of cutscene it turned out that the tank was also finnish and declared that she "must protecc" us after asking if we were all first timers. She proceeded to be one of the best tanks I've had a plesure to heal, gave us helpful tips about mechanics and /doted all of us before leaving.
This is gonna sound a little funny but Moonfire Faire. We started playing during the 2019 one, and while we never made it to the event itself (too low level, rip), the memory of seeing the fireworks on Gridania (both on sky and a group of peeps spamming the items next to conjurer's guild haha) while doing our very first quests left a very deep mark on me. I still get really nostalgic every time the fireworks come back~
Figuring out how to do Omega unsynced with only 3 people (so we can farm by ourselves). Mostly blind, we only looked at guides after hitting mechanics we could not figure out. Up until like the last runs we kept forgetting the Omega F knockback (too focused on random chatter), or the exploding debuffs. The 10+ runs we had to do to figure out timing for tank invulns when M & F start dashing around. One of us leveling tank just for that fight (and turns out they like tanking now lol), one having to finish leveling pld bc gnb shooting themselves did not go too well when you have to have hp for the tankbusters after the invuln ends.
Endwalker boss fate farming. Sitting there for hours, getting progressively more tired and unhinged with couple hundred other people as we were so sure that yeah next hour Chi or Daivadipa would spawn. Surely next hour. It's already been 8h over the spawn timer cooldown it MUST spawn soon... right? Right??
Baby's first on launch alliance raid, Puppet's Bunker! I was so nervous haha, first time patch day alliance raid on healer? Scawwyyy. We died soooooo much lol but it was such a blast. People figuring out you could shoot eachother with the lasers, the constant "ohhhhh so that's what that does" in chat, the collective "what the fuck yoko taro?" during second phase of last boss. Now my absolute favorite content in this game is doing alliance raids right after patch so all 24 of us can be equally confused about stuff and just chill dead on the ground together.

Being MSBY‘s manager for a month and secretly hooking up with Meian (you work for the Adlers)
Warnings: suggestive, mentions of sexual acts but nothing explicit
Well it’s time for a little experiment that was originally Foster’s and Suzaku’s idea at a night out together
“So Samson, you think you may need a manager for the team?“
“Yeah I just want to see if the team needs a manager that can keep them under control if Meian or I are not there“
Both being drunk and having the time of their lives, they agreed to let you stay with the MSBY Jackals for an entire month
So
The next morning you arrive at practice with the Adlers, you also see Coach Samson Foster of the MSBY Jackals standing next to him
Weird that you don’t see or hear the team around with him
Anyway, right before you’re about to change, Coach Suzaku calls you over to him and Samson
With hesitant steps, you make your way towards him
“So (Y/N), what do you say about staying with the MSBY Jackals for this month huh?”
Say what now- 👁️👄👁️
They explained everything together and you were NOT happy
“It’s just for a month, (Y/N) and after the month is over, you’ll be back with us like you usually are.”
Great
Just great
You went to take some of your stuff out of your locker to take with you for the ‘MSBY Camp‘
A month of horror for you
The Adlers are mostly very calm and know how to behave themselves, whereas the Jackals are the complete opposite of the Adlers
Wild, immature and to put it simple, a group of wild dogs, living up to their mascot animal
The Adlers wish you good luck 🍀
Especially Romero as your best friend from the group, tells you to call or text him as soon as one of the team members dare to flirt with you
Have you seen yourself?
As you arrive at the gym hall the next day in Osaka of the MSBY Black Jackals, you take a deep breath before entering
When you open the door, it looks like you already predicted the future
Lots of yelling, Sakusa and Miya looking ready to kill each other, Bokuto and Meian holding them back, volleyballs flying in every direction
Still with a blank expression, you begin to turn and walk out when Coach Foster calls out to you
“(Y/N)! You made it!“
Nine heads turn into your direction
It’s a stampede
Questions flying from everyone, from „Have you lost your way?“ to „Finally had enough of the bird brains?“
After introductions, the first week was not too bad
Sure, it’s a lot more chaotic than what you are used to
BUT
Someone always makes sure you’re safe and not overwhelmed by three certain rascals
*cough* dumb, dumber, dumbest *cough*
Meian freakin‘ 6‘5 Iron Wall Shūgo
The strict hot beefcake Captain of the MSBY Black Jackals
Protecting you like a big mean-ass Rottweiler from thirsty guys, helping you out whenever he can, he is basically your bodyguard
And you may or may not have developed a big fat crush on the black-haired Middle Blocker
Unbeknownst to you, Meian longs for you just as much (you lucky star)
After three weeks and a recent win against EJP Raijin, you and the team went out for drinks for your last night with the Jackals
4 glasses of wine and three Tequila shots later, you’re already at your limit and Meian or Shūgo, as you’re suppose to call him, is slightly intoxicated but not as bad as you
The two of you stumble across the sidewalk, leaning into each other while giggling like teens in love
As soon as you reach the train platform, you look into Meian‘s beautiful dark orbs and it seems like you two are magnets, because your soft lips collide with his own
The magical moment was interrupted by a police officer that scolds you both of the pda and to keep it low or at least wait until you’re both home
Utterly embarrassed you both apologize but you can still see the fire and passion swimming in his eyes from your steamy make out mere seconds ago
It seems like you’re both thinking the same thing because you’re inviting him to stay over at your place
The night is full of pleasure-filled moans, heavy pants and the sound of your headboard knocking against your wall for hours
Bless the stamina of a professional athlete
The next day, you wake up with the biggest headache of a lifetime and a body so sore, that it takes you a full hour to get out of bed
Looking in the mirror you notice multiple dark patches decorating the side of your neck
On the side of your hips you see very faint scratch marks
Images of last night filled your mind and you almost scream for hooking up with the captain
Arriving back the next day at your usual team, Romero immediately pulls you to the side because of your glum expression after a quick chat and summary of being with the Jackals
"What’s wrong? Do we need to beat someone up?“
"You know when you are driving and a bug hits your windshield?”
Romero just gives you an incredulous look, not understanding where this is going
"I am the bug.” You clear out
The Wing Spiker still doesn’t get it, so you hiss in his ear
"I had sex with Shūgo two nights ago.”
“YOU HAD SEX WITH MEIAN?!” He screams out
Ahem… yeah
The rest of the team turns to you, looking like a mix between jealousy and disappointment
"Really (Y/N)? I am so disappointed in you, you could do so much better.” - Hoshiumi
"At least it wasn’t Atsumu.” - Sokolov
"Shit, you’re right.” - Hoshiumi
"Why did you have intercourse with the Captain of our opponents?” - Ushijima
"Yeah (Y/N), you slept with the enemy!” - Heiwajima
"Guys, knock it off.” Your knight in shining armor, Hirugami comes to the rescue
Scoffing in annoyance, you give them the cold shoulder now
Thank Goodness Coach Suzaku wasn’t here to witness any of this mess
All of sudden, the commotion stops and you turn around to see a big tall figure with his black and gold MSBY sweatshirt hood up but you can’t make his face out yet as he sort of hides in the entrance doorway
The guys look extremely tense and almost ready to charge like hunting dogs
"Is… is that Meian?” Heiwajima tilts his head and squints his eyes to see better
It seems like Heiwajima is right because the person who pulls his hood down is no other than the captain of the MSBY Black Jackals
Romero stands next to you with crossed arms and a pissed expression while you are still in shock
Meian waves you over to him and you are about to walk over when Fukurō stops you
"Wait here”
You obey and watch as the Captain walks over to Meian and they both head out of the gym
"I hate that guy” Romero bites out as he walks away to practice with the rest of the team
You can’t take the waiting anymore and quietly head to the door to hopefully catch what they are saying
"I know I shouldn’t be here but-“
"You’re damn right! Be glad it’s me out here and not Romero, he would rip you into shreds.”
"I don’t care! It’s not like we are dating and I cheated on her-“
“So you took advantage of her and just left-“
“It was a Heat of the moment! And that’s why I am here! I do want to talk to her! I am not regretting what we did and I love her!”
Feeling your breath hitch in your throat, your face heats up a thousand degrees hearing Meian’s confession
"(Y/N) are you alright? Your face is extremely red. Do you suffer under high-blood pressure?” Ushijima asks you with concern in his deep voice
"N-No I-I am f-fine. I uh… I need some fresh air.” Pulling the door open hastily you step outside and completely forgot due to rush of adrenaline that Fukurō and Meian are standing outside talking
Both looking at you with raised eyebrows, Fukurō pats Meian on the shoulder once before heading back inside
The captain of MSBY gives you an extremely unsure look, almost looking scared to see you
"How much did you hear?”
"More than enough” You admit in shame
"(Y/N) listen… I am so so sorry what happened and if it seemed like I took advantage of you, I really wasn’t! You’re beautiful, smart and gosh your fiery personality just makes my heart go crazy… I know it’s only been a month we have known each other but the more we spent time together, the harder I fell for you… uhm what I am trying to say is uh… will you let me take you out on a proper date? Like dinner maybe?”
Smiling brightly you agree and make plans for next Friday after his practice is over
Walking back into the gym with the biggest smile on your face, the Adlers find it highly disturbing
At the next practice match with MSBY, you walk off the bus, excited to see your boyfriend again
Romero walks next to you and leans down to whisper in your ear
"I better not see you making out with him at games.” Romero growls under his breath
"Shut up Nicollas”

Sayoko's Diary 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 //DVD specials // Canon.
Tumblr media
Sayoko's Diary #1 : The Maid Sees All !
The first Sayoko diary relates her meeting with Suzaku, the night where Lelouch brought Suzaku home to meet Nunnally again. Sayoko knows him as the man who was exonerated from Clovis's murder by Zero. As they enjoy a nice dinner and joked about how they switched situations with Suzaku not being the host anymore, we get back to Sayoko who is struggling to carry a huge ammount of trash bags filled with empty cans she collected for this day; Suzaku comes in, looking for the washrooms and propose his help when he realises she is struggling; as she refuses he still tried to help and…cause a bag of cans to empty itself on the floor. As they pick up the cans together, their hands accidentally touch and Sayoko notice how warm his hand his (Suzaku's charm on older ladies is unmatched <_<) Suzaku then attempts to introduce himself but she already knows who he is, and as he asks her who she is she introduces herself; After that Suzaku tried to get to know her and question her on her job, on her happiness, on her dreams, and if it was the life she wanted before Japan became Area 11.
Eventually they manage to end up picking up the cans and Suzaku is about to go and throw those in the trash; They still have a small exchange, around how they are both japanese and Suzaku who wants to reduce the distance between them, as Sayoko is too polite/distant, and he proposes her to call him Su-san. As he leave before she can react, he thank her for the delicious meal and he is gone.
After he is gone, with a very dere dere voice, Sayoko whisper "Su-san" (Damn Suzaku and his attractiveness) ; Then she begins to daydream, making her personal profile "Shinozaki Sayoko, 24 years old, and begins to wonder about what she is feeling currently (This is…Love ?!)
We then jump to another day where Soayoko is daydreaming about Suzaku when she hears Lelouch talking to him; As she rushed to her window to yell "Su -saaaaan" she is interrupted by a talk between Suzaku and Lelouch where Suzaku asks Lelouch to pretend he doesn't know him at school, so he doesn't get into trouble; Lelouch tries to counter but as you can imagine the whole talk seems suggestive and Sayoko ends up thinking….Suzaku and Lelouch are in a relationship ! Sayoko is dumbstruck and thinks she now knows their secret.
Sayoko's Diary #2 : The Maid Sees All !
As there isn't much work today, I decided to go thoroughly clean up Lelouch-sama's room...
...or at least planned to.
Since Lelouch-sama's room is characteristically methodical, the lack of garbage is a given, and there's not even a single strand of hair on the floor. Or anywhere else, for that matter.
The bedsheets are the same as they were when I changed them yesterday----no, they're even cleaner than before, and there's not a single wrinkle on the bed covers.
I think it's stupid to judge people solely based on their blood type, but
...A-type men are indeed scary.
There wasn't much of anything to do, so I lay down on the floor and had a little afternoon nap. Then, I checked under the bed, but though he's a high school student, there's nothing hidden there.
No, no, that's an amateur attendent's way of thinking. With that methodical, perfectionist principle iron-walled weakness-hiding personality, he'd never see a place so common as 'under the bed' as valid for secrets. Then again, he wouldn't do things other people would like hiding stuff in the refrigerator just to be unpredictable, either. If Lelouch-sama is to hide anything...
No. I shouldn't write these things in a diary.
By the time I opened my eyes, it was already dusk. The sunset I saw through the window reminded me of when I was still a little girl.
I remember seeing a much more beautiful sunset than this sky.
When I stopped to stand and look at that sky, Mother would pull my hand and scream 'run faster!' to me. Nobody around us bothered to look at the sunset, they were all running. Running for their lives.
That day, too, was the sunset for Japan.
I'll never forget how beautiful that day's sunset was for my entire life.
Even if I die, even if I become ashes in the wind, I'll never forget.
Sayoko's Diary #3 : The Maid sees All !
I wonder if those who break taboos are those shouldering an inordinate amount of mental anguish and distress---------
Lelouch-sama ordered me to never clean his room one morning, a few days before Suzaku-san came to the academy. "Lelouch-sama is an adolescent maturing into an adult, and is therefore currently in a sensitive phase" was how I interpreted it, as this is an exceedingly common occurrence. ...However, now that I think about it, that was a shallow notion and I should have given more thought to it.
Sounds were heard coming out of Lelouch-sama's room even though no one was supposed to be in there, so I knocked on the door. There was no reply, and at once the word "burglar" crossed my mind. Come to think of it, Lelouch-sama told me not to clean his room, but he never said anything about not entering it. In a situation like this, protecting the house while everyone else is away is of the utmost priority. Having come to that conclusion I mustered up my courage and opened the door.
----------The scene I was presented with was so shocking I felt as though my eyes had been drilled through.
The bedsheets were rumpled, and for some reason the room was enveloped with the smell of cheese. What's more, I was shocked to see what were obviously white, female clothings hanging on the wall, and long boots carelessly kicked off on the bed...
I had no idea puberty was capable of changing a person to such an extent. It seems that Lelouch-sama has already made his foray into the territory exclusive to maniacs obsessed with altering one's appearances. ("Henshin", literally "to change one's body") Now that I think about it, Lelouch-sama has not been home much lately and has been doing a lot of whispering over the phone. If I think of his recent behaviour as him conversing with like-minded people who share his peculiar values and then going out to attend assemblies specially for such people, it all makes sense. Not to mention there's been a rumour going around about Lelouch-sama's "embarassing photos" after the cat incident the other day. (Episode 6)
From a young age the 2 siblings have had no one else to rely on but each other, and Lelouch has always given it his all without once uttering a single word of complaint. It is precisely because of this that, even if Lelouch-sama has one or two unspeakable interests, I will absolutely never look down on him. However, even so, should the other members of the Student Council or the naive Suzaku find out about Lelouch and his crossdressing fetish, the astronomical gap ( The "gap" here is the inconsistency between Lelouch's cool, popular with the girls appearance and his supposed crossdressing fetish) will surely shock them senseless. To say nothing of Nunnally-sama finding out; I cannot even begin to imagine the confusion and bewilderment she will feel towards the only relative left to her now...
I swear an oath right here and now. I must conceal Lelouch-sama's secret awakening no matter what. (It's something like a spiritual awakening... though obviously not spiritual in this sense >__>) I will protect Lelouch-sama's sole source of solace to the very end.
*end Sayoko's diary*
Sayoko's Diary #4: The Maid Sees All !
The resistance group known as "The Black Knights" is currently causing a great stir. Neither the Japan Liberation Front nor terrorists, this Resistance protects the defenseless weak from the threats of those armed with weapons; it is a principle upheld without concern for ideologies. The leader of these "Black Knights" is the man who murdered Prince Clovis, a masked man going by the name "Zero". Why does "Zero" wear a mask...? The "Noh" extracurricular lesson I was shown during my primary school days suddenly comes to mind. (Noh as in the classical japanese dance drama) Back then, I had been somewhat afraid of that expressionless Noh mask. To my understanding, in this particular form of art, the mask worn allows the discarding of both personality and name, and as such emotions and thoughts are brought into stark relief. Indeed, when denouncing something anonymously, or conversing with those whose faces cannot be seen, our character and feelings will inevitably manifest themselves as exhibits of crassness and insensitivity. Perhaps "Zero", too, acquires his wings, the freedom to express himself and carry out justice, only when he is behind his mask; If that is indeed the truth, what then is "Zero" searching for, vacillating in the dark interval between his mask and real face? ...I see, Perhaps the desire to alter his appearances that has burgeoned forth in Lelouch-sama too, was born of the same providence as "Zero"'s mask. ("Providence" is Sayoko's exact word-choice, and didn't make much sense in the original sentence either.) Perhaps it is only when Lelouch-sama is in the white clothing and long boots carelessly discarded about his room that he is able to discover his "true self" in the mirror. Still, just between the two of us, it appears that of late, Lelouch-sama has stopped limiting himself to crossdressing and has even gone on to cat suits, further expanding the scope of his deep interests. From the opposite sex to animals.... just where, exactly, is Lelouch-sama heading for...? ( From crossdressing to beastiality... oh my!) Nay. I shall stop writing such things in my diary. It is now 2 in the morning, and that is the reason I've begun to think in such a contentious manner. Petals scatter from the flower vase in the wake of my sigh. Tomorrow I will work out a little and make an effort to sleep well at night. (END)
Sayoko's Diary #5: The Maid Sees All !
I've been wondering lately; Has Lelouch-sama no interest in girls whatsoever? I returned to their quarters in the early afternoon, after having attended to my affairs. Once there, Shirley-sama's voice could be heard coming in through the window. Shirley-sama was getting all fired up on her own, saying things like "I did it!" and "He'll come, right?`"; It appears that Shirley-sama has finally decided to check Lelouch. (Check as in "checkmate". This is Sayoko's exact word-choice; I couldn't think of a more poetic way of saying this in English, so I left it as it is.) (The following is an addendum written in defense of my honour. I am absolutely not indulging in the act of prying into and second-guessing what goes on in the love affairs of young men and women. My having overheard Shirley, who had been shouting to herself rather loudly, was nothing more than a coincidence.) However, Lelouch-sama was still his usual self. Admittedly, Lelouch-sama isn't one to show his agitations nor mood on his face. Still, the spring of our lives lies in the blossoming love stories experienced during our adolescence, around the age of 17 or 18. And yet Lelouch-sama is going through that critical period without showing the least hint of interest... Today, as with all days, Lelouch, upon his return, headed straight for Nunnally's room and the both of them were soon talking in whispers. At that very moment I had brought them Nunnally's medicine, but as Lelouch and Nunnally-sama were hand-in-hand and engaged in their own impenetrable, tender world, I simply could not bear to disturb the both of them... Could it be that... Lelouch-sama's secret doesn't stop at his desire to alter his appearance? Nunnally-sama once told me that long ago, she and Euphie-sama, a lady of noble birth, fought over Lelouch-sama. It isn't unheard of for young girls who think the world of their family members to confuse their feelings for love and speak of marriage. ...But could it be that this beautiful misunderstanding still exists between the two siblings? With no means of escape from that miniature garden, is it not possible that, unable to direct them anywhere else, Lelouch-sama is sublimating the three major desires of adolescence by immersing himself in the unique pleasure acquired through the act of crossdressing...? Nay. I shall stop writing such delusional nonsense in my diary. Tonight as well, the aroma of baked cheese wafts from Lelouch-sama's room. It is precisely times like these that I must pull myself together... (END)
Sayoko's Diary #6 :The Maid Sees All !
I hear that the man who was brandishing a chainsaw in Clovisland is now under police custody. That amusement park has a jinx on it, one that goes: "Couples who come here will break up". The following is something I heard from a friend of mine, currently working part-time at Clovisland. It concerns a blonde highschool student who keeps going to marriage interviews and coming to the park on dates, with a different man each time. It appears that this lady does not fancy the sort of rides that are said to "become picturesque when a lady is on it", such as Merry-Go-Rounds and Swan Lake Boats. Of these attractions, there is one; the Coffee Cup, to be specific -- which the lady, surprisingly, likes, but it seems that her manner of enjoying it is fairly difficult to swallow. She puts her back into spinning the steering wheel in front of her, spinning the cup round and round ; I used to do this as well during my teenage years, but in her case it doesn't stop there. The lady in the Ashford uniform has acquired an idea of fun that clearly does not belong to this world; she steps on the brakes with incredible force while the cup is still spinning, channels all her efforts into having it spin the other way and other such unbelievable acts. The man on board with her ended up dashing to the toilet the very second he got off -- and that isn't even the half of it. She rocks the ferris wheel gondola, just to see whether it is possible to have it do a complete 360 turn. While driving the Go-cart, she puts the attendant in a spot by insisting she "wants to try driving through". On the jetcoaster (jetcoaster = rollercoaster), she screams "My teeth are dryyyy!?", causing the other passengers to burst into laughter. She pedals the Sky Cycle like she means it, with the intended consequence of terrifying and urging on the cyclist in front of her. In the Haunted House, she chases after the part-timer playing the role of the monster, teases him and doesn't let up until tears are shed. Over at the Kids' Zoo, she feeds the Student Council register to the goats, thereby ensuring the absolute confidentiality of all personal information in it... Everything I have described thus far is considered by this lady, whose grandfather is rumoured to be the chairman of a school somewhere, as a "lovely way to enjoy things". Once, when she got on the Panda, one of the Melody Pets rides, and challenged her date on the Lion to a game of Chicken, those who were there to see it claimed that they "felt as thought they had caught a glimpse of the shadowy side of the Britannian empire". Moreover, her casting her utterly incomprehensible "Guts!" spell at the man as he leapt off the Lion for dear life was such a frightening sight that not only the children but the parents, too, were left quaking in its wake. The talk of a marriage interview has come up again for this lady, or so I've heard. I'm sure this will be the start of a new page in history for Clovisland, of which its legendary reputation as the "Land of Separation" is currently being secretly circulated as the truth. As for the man who will be brought to that park of love, oblivious to the fate awaiting him -- I'd like to send a prayer out to him from the bottom of my heart. (The "Park of Love" can also be translated as "Garden of Love", but since it's a themepark and all, I decided to stick with "park" even though "garden" sounds better. It's something of a wordplay in Japanese.) (END)

Hi! Longtime fan of your work. You have the perfect blend of history and fantasy. Um, so I just noticed Code Geass was on your list of works you'd do. Would it be all right to have your headcannons of Lelouch and Suzaku? If so, thanks! Keep up the great work!
Hi, of course it is alright to request Code Geass. Will first do some hcs of Suzuaku in form of a Charcter Sheet. I'll do Lelouch next month (knocks on wood). Thank you!
Yandere Suzaku Kuurugi - Character Sheet I
Tumblr media
Trigger warnings: religious themes, abuse of authority, power plays, threats, politics, death, violence A/N: I told myself I would be normal here, only to then remember that Suzuaku is a Knight. Here is the end product.
Attributes - What sort of Yandere is he/she?
Tumblr media
Suzuaku would be a man with temperament and that would reflect in how he'd be towards you. You and your love wouldn't be something he would take lightly and this would be mirrored in his actions. To him, you would never be a means to an end, you would be an end. You would matter immensely to him and a lot of his actions would be driven by ensuring your happiness and welfare. In many ways, he'd be very intense. To make matters worse, he would place the responsibility for his actions on you. At the end of the day, you would be the reason he'd choose to continue living, why he would fight and kill and manipulate. While this would apply to many a yandere, what would set him apart from other people would be his drive, talent and power. The crown on your head would be his doing, and he would be your self-anointed sword and shield.
Something that would stick out would be his stubbornness and you would have to witness it in all its horrid glory. No matter how you would plead and reason with him, how much you'd scream and spit and yell and curse, he would still insist that he would be yours. It wouldn't change that so many of his actions would be done with you in mind and that he would remain unshaken in his position as your protector and benefactor. Your life would be crafted by hand, and luxury and affluence would be the chains he would shackle you with. Suzuaku would dictate the setting and circumstances of your life and would call it paradise. Who else would care for you as fervently as him?
Suzuaku would be reverent to the point of obsessivness. Just like an idol or philosophers that would beg not to be glamorised and to be seen as all too human, only to be lionised and worshipped with gold and pigments, so would he revere you. Your opinion wouldn't matter here - he would put you on a pedestal and there you would stay. Just like any proper deity, you would get a shrine and regular tributes. Kiss his sword, would you - he'd want your blessing.
Even worse would be the bloody gifts he would bring to your altar - trophies obtained during conquest, curios that other people would kill for, bloodstained jewels and fabrics. Occasionally he would deem it as necessary to bring you a “human sacrifice”, to remind you of your place and to show you what you really are. You would be above a mere mortal in his eyes, enigmatic and divine. Such a being should be largely concealed from the immoral filth of the world, lest you be tarnished and corrupted.
To enable all his stunts and his behaviour, he would be crafty and resourceful. He would have to be, especially to achieve his goals despite all his disadvantages. With everybody worth their salt looking down on him for various reasons, he would have to have his wits about him in order to proceed upwards. While he would be a man of action first and foremost, he wouldn't be stupid by any means. The same would apply to you - maybe you'd be a noble that he would have to work hard to obtain, or you'd be another number that he would have to shield and protect. In the case of the latter, you would actually be a burden to Suzaku’s career, as the gossip that would follow him would only increase. Yet he would never be persuaded to let you go. He'd turn nobles prejudices against them, bend disadvantages to suit his needs and turn expectations on their heads.
In addition to all of these, he would also be greedy for more of you. No matter how much you'd give him, no matter how much you'd relent, he'd always crave more. It would never be enough for him. Ideally, he'd call under your skin and make a home for himself in your ribcage next to your beating heart, so that he'd forever and always be with you. Still, he would be surprising touch adverse - he'd have lines that he wouldn't dare cross, no matter how strong the temptation would be.
Cornering - How would they get you?
Tumblr media
Since you would be the centre of his world, and his reason to live, he would move mountains to be with you. At first, he would think that he could twist this into a version of knightly chivalry, of slaying beasts and conquering lands and accomplishing herculean feats in order to receive a small token of your affection and acknowledgement. However, he would soon discover that so little would never be enough for him, and that he would always be greedy for more. He would just have to have you, to touch your skin, to talk to you and spoil you.
Should you be below him socially, it would be very easy to entrap you with him. Just from flaunting his status and money and pulling some strings would be enough to get you in his lap. Some obstacles might be in the way, like how it would impact his reputation and that you might kick up a fuss, but those would only be short term worries. They would be easily overshadowed by the long term benefits. Should you come to him from one of the conquered lands, it would be even easier. There wouldn’t be any pushback as well, since everybody would just see it as him taking a war trophy for himself. Of course, all those nobles and high society people would look down on you, and it would upset him greatly. Suzuaku would land himself in a few duels to defend your honour.
Overall, he would hold your life in his hands, and likely those of your loved ones as well. It would be something he'd remind you of every now and then, just to keep you in line. Despite his generosity”, he might still kill your family and friends, for the divine need no earthly attachments. At the very end, you would need him and only him to realise your destiny. Everybody else would just be weeds and brambles on the path to your transcendence.
Perhaps you would be higher than him on the social ladder. It would make getting you more difficult, but not impossible. Politics is such slippery business, with people trying to backstab one another at the drop of a hat, especially in such a decadent place as the Holy Britannian Empire. One day, the opportunity for him to swoop in and snatch you up would surely arise. Power is always relative to the situation, so while you might outrank him socially, you still might be powerless to stop his ministrations.
He could take refuge in audacity. Who would you dare confess your plight to? Who would laugh in dark amusement or disbelief if you were to tell them that an honorary Britannian Knight was harassing you? On the flip side, you might be too embarrassed to seek.
Or he could throw his weight around to trap you in an arranged marriage with him. It would be easy for him, especially considering that his sponsors and superiors would give their blessing, since they would desire for him to have another tie to Britannia. With another guarantee for Suzuaku’s loyalty ensured, your happiness would be a small price to pay. Arranged marriages wouldn’t be expected to be happy unions, and people would be all the more willing to look the other way should Suzuaku be more … violent with you. There would be far less skeletons to hide, and a far lesser need to.
Expectations - What do they expect of you?
Tumblr media
He would want you to be endearing and charming. If you aren't that way inherently, then it would be no problem. It would be nothing a change of scene and pace and some formal lessons couldn't fix. Divinity is something practised with purpose and ease, and that would be what he'd come to expect of you. He would be aware of his idealism, and of the wrongness of some of his acts, so he would strive to make the reality with you fit the picture in his head. In his eyes, you could have just as well stepped out of a folktale with how etheral you are, and he would want the rest of the world to see that. You’d be a diamond, and you’d just need a bit of polishing so that the rest of humanity would recognise your true worth. In his essense, Suzuaku would be a man that would desire to show his achievments, so he would love to flaunt you off. While you should have eyes only for him, your protector and benefactor, you should be able to handle social situations with a medicrum of grace.
You'd be enigmatic to him, due to him deifying you in his head, and also as a coping mechanism for his own wrong doings. On some level, he would be cognisant of the fact that the relationship with you is toxic, that his actions are depraved and that he shouldn’t treat you as he does. Because of this awareness, your relationship with Suzuaku would have its brighter moments where he would be more lenient to you. That being said, he would also be in denial about a lot of it, and his way of twisting your rebellious, disagreeable or also unhappy behaviour to suit his world picture would be to deem you a mystery. On a more down-to-earth note - mysteriousness in a person is attractive to many, and Suzuaku wouldn’t be an exception. It would bring his great joy to ferret out your secrets and never being able to know you fully.
Steadfastness would be a quality that would make him swoon. Nothing in this world is achieved weak-willed people, so being to stand your ground on the basis of your will would be attractive to him. Of course, it would infuriate him should you stand against him yet and wouldn’t trade your strength of character for anything in the world. It would also be reassuring to him that you wouldn’t be easily cowed. It would mean that you wouldn’t be easily pressured into betraying him, and that you wouldn’t break due to measly gust of wind.
Be purposeful for that adds to the aforementioned qualities. Don’t do things half-heartedly or by halves and you would gain prestige in his eyes. You would be a greater prize to gain, a more powerful person to keep. Suzuaku would rather have a tiger than a housecat, and would take all the swipes and mauling as given. They would just be signs of your attention and his affection. Gods don’t love as ordinary mortals do, after all. Be idealistic to a degree. It would make it easier for him to keep you. If you constantly try to make reality bow to your wishes then he would shape your surroundings to match your wishes so that you would be lulled into complacency. A gilded cage with all the toys needed to keep you entertained, just forget the world outside of the one he created for you, and luxury would be presented to you on a silver platter.
Faded - Would they let go of you in any way?
Tumblr media
In his eyes, not even death would keep him from you. Should he die first, then he would come to haunt you in the form of a ghost. Should you be the one to bite the dust before him, then he would honour your memory in every conceivable way and he would fall back into suicidal ideation. What you could do, is fake your death.
Sure it would break his heart and he would make it everybody's problem. Should he suspect a certain faction or group to be behind your demise, then he would bathe in their blood. The blood of innocents might very well be spilled due to you. Suzuaku Kuururigi would be a changed man, a hardened man and people would suffer due to it. He would never forget you, and honour your memory in his own, special ways. Could you make such a selfish choice?
Punishment - How would they proceed if you do something they disapprove of?
Tumblr media
If there would be one thing that he would hate, then it would be punishing you. Hurting you would hurt him, most of the time. Besides, you would be special for him to truly hurt. So, if you would step out of line, if you would escape, if you would be disagreeable and rejective, if you would try to kill him, then he would take the most benevolent interpretation/misconstruction of the matter and present it to you. This would be to give you an off-ramp, so that he wouldn't need to punish you and to partially uphold the illusion of a mutual loving relationship.
Though, if he'd take to punishing you, then he would be uncompromising and harsh. He'd derive very little enjoyment from it, maybe a feeling of poetic justice if he'd make you eat your words or self-righteousness if you harmed the cause, yet he'd do the deed regardless.
One of his common methods would be to threaten your loved ones. Since they aren't you they would be free game. In some cases he would even go as far as to summon the one or the other person and imply that he's about to kill them. In front of you, mind you. Should you really be unmanageable, then don't be surprised when he'd casually spill their blood. It could be just a flesh wound, a warning shot for you if you will, and he wouldn't hesitate to go further if needed.
Speaking of warning shots - if your treachery would go beyond him, then he wouldn't be above performing a mock execution. Depending on how well-known your crimes would be, this could be completely public or private. Just a little something to put the fear of the powers that be in you. Maybe the rope would tear, or the hatch wouldn't open. No electricity would come when the switch would be pulled, or the firing squad would shoot with dummy bullets.
Tying in with another point here, the fake execution could be used to hide you away. If everybody would think you're dead, then nobody would take you away from him. With such a sudden change in your life, you would also be more vulnerable and more susceptible to his advances. Maybe the order would come from up above to end your life, and he would use the opportunity to deceive the world and squirrel you away. In that case, the poison would be switched with a sedative or the electric charge would be non-fatal. Once you'd wake up again, he'd have you all to himself and nobody would be able to do anything about it.
Another punishment he'd use would be far more subtle and still devastating. He would pay somebody to backstab you, perhaps even literally. That would put you on edge and make you distrusting towards everybody except him, who warned you about the betrayal and who helped you back on your feet. With a world so cruel, he would be your one safe haven, so allow him to protect you.
Other punishments wouldn't be so grand and even childish. Like making you write lines or run laps, or giving you detention. Should he be particularly angry over a minor matter, then he would leave you alone in the middle of a forest on a rainy day.
Reaction - How would they react to you escaping?
Tumblr media
Angry, both at you and himself. Most of the time, he wouldn't be too constricting and simply allow you to roam freely. For the most part, he would count on the negative side effects of his position (lot of enemies on all sides due to being an honorary Britannian knight) to do their magic and keep you in check. Or, if you are of lower birth or also not Britannian, for the rest of high society to ostracise you and you therefore having no chance to flee. All in all, your actions would only register as escaping in his mind if he wouldn't know where you are, and if you would escape alone. Anything other than that would be deemed as a kidnapping or you playing weird games.
Say that you really escape and he would view it as such, then he would speed off to retrieve you. The plan would be pieced together on the move and would even be a good plan. Any scant information would be enough for him to piece together the overall picture and deduce your further plans of action. He would take the initiative as soon as possible, to cut off all avenues of escape and bring you home securely. You would get a stern talking to, and he would take to moving around more for a while. Can't really escape if you don't know where you are, can you?
This would be one of the few instances where he would remind you that he is a military officer, and one of the best out there.
Turnabout - Scenario: You have the upper hand? What would be different from their usual MO?
Tumblr media
As far as he would be concerned, you would always have the upper hand. With the hold you'd have over his heart, you probably would. Nevermind that it wouldn't make a big difference in the long run. He would be your sword and shield - manifestations of power that you would possess. However, since he would determine the course of your life through the service he would grant you, you wouldn't be able to do without him. Your knight would be indispensable and from that point on shape your life all the more.
Maybe if you'd come to him through one of his campaigns and then find a way to get the drop on him maybe then. The problem would be that Suzuaku wouldn't be half-bad, especially in relation to the other Britannians. You could be rid of him, but you would be jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Of course, the option of joining a non-Britanian faction could present itself. Though, would you really want to get stuck in the messy politics and bitter rivalries that would involve?
One way to stand above him, or at least on a level playing field, would be to either wield some genuine power of your own and use it to your advantage. Or to have plenty of political astuteness and worm your way into advising him. Male him more dependent on you than you are on him, and you would have the upper hand. The result would be that he would treat you with more respect, and you would have more agency. He would also be more subtle, though his behaviour towards you wouldn't change aside from that.
Vengeance - What would they do in the face of competition?
Tumblr media
With a sword and a lot of violence involved. In the chaos of the battlefield, it would be easy for people to get hurt or killed, even to friendly fire. Now, he wouldn't put his reputation on the line by outright killing a comrade in arms, if that were the case. Rather it would occur due to a minor oversight on his part - letting an enemy through, failing to pass a warning on due to being preoccupied or communications breaking down, or a brazen “overestimation” of their capabilities. During the burial, he'd hold a nice speech and lay some flowers on their grave.
If they'd be the official enemy, then there would be no holds barred. He'd pull his pistol on them if he'd see them on the street, or crush them to dust with his nightmare frame during a military campaign. To Suzuaku, they wouldn't be able to exit the world quickly enough. Other people would be tempted to pack out the torture devices and make the death of the opposition as slow and painful. Not Suzuaku though - he wouldn't waste more time than necessary.
As for higher ranked opponents with more clout - while he would never be the political and tactical genius that Lelouch is, he still wouldn't be hapless when it would come to politics. He wouldn't need to be outstanding, since his skill set would be enough to achieve his ends. Nobles and the like would be so easy to pit against each other - just dig up some dirt and they would already be at one another's throat. He would also utilise the fact that many people unfamiliar with his skills would underestimate him.
If this were to take place at school or a civilian format - then he would begrudgingly flaunt his status. Luck might be on his side and martial law could be declared, then he would have even more power. Then could just shoot the bastard trying to steal you from him. Would there be no martial law, and if the whole drama would take place at school, then he would drag you away by the wrist or throw you over his shoulder and run away with you to get you to stop interacting with certain people. In the case that he'd know no way out, then he'd enlist the help of the school council president.

I finished Code Geass the other day and I just keep thinking about the ending.
obv spoilers
Suzaku faking his death and Kallen unintentionally helping, so Suzaku could take the mantle of Zero and then "assassinate" Lelouch to wipe away Zero's sins in the eyes of the world,Lelouch giving Suzaku his Geass to better play the part of Zero, all of this only happening because the people in on the Zero Requiem plan knew Lelouch would reanimate due to his Code.
That's the only reason I think Jeremiah would let him do that, because he knew Lelouch wouldn't die, even if it'd be the last time he saw him.
At first I thought that Lelouch really died and C.C was talking to him just out loud, as if he were there despite being dead, but after reading peoples thoughts on the ending it makes a lot more sense for Lelouch to actually really be there and just have come back to life.
Apparently, the Resurrection movie (which i plan to watch tn) confirms my (and the most popular theory) that he's not dead and all that.
so im happy that hes alive and gets to be with C.C forever :D

12 characters, 12 story arcs, 1 theme
Tumblr media
A few days ago, I tried to synthesize in a single word the narrative arcs of the Code Geass characters (at least, the ones I know they have) with the intention of extracting the theme of each one. I will briefly explain my conclusions. Or, put another way, what each theme means for each character. I'll leave Lelouch for last because he's the main character and his theme is supposed to be that of the series. We go from bottom to top.
Self-fidelity / Milly: "the girl who learned to be in touch with her own desires and chose to be true to herself to bring out her best version." I think the phrase explains it perfectly. Milly found happiness and she became more mature once she decided to stop serving her family's wishes and focus on herself and what she wanted to be and do.
Confidence / Ohgi: "the man who learned to trust himself to become the leader his organization and his country needed." Ohgi's arc is inspiring, if you take off your toxic fandom glasses and take his journey seriously. It is true that he made certain mistakes, but he always thought of the welfare of his people and his comrades. That was his main motivation and what led him to overcome his personal insecurities. I was going to make a comparison, but you guys won't like it and you'll attack me.
Happiness / Euphemia: "the girl who dreamed of a world in which all people were happy." This is the only arc that was cut short and did not come to fruition for reasons that I don't need to detail. Euphemia was a selfless princess without a purpose until she met her brother again and wanted to restore happiness to him, Nunnally and the rest of the Japanese.
Truth / Nunnally: "the girl who had to discover the truth to grow up to become the empress who could rebuild a new Britannia." She is literally blind and cannot see the world as it is, but as it should be (hence her idealism). She also can't see through her brother's and her friend's lies, until her determination and her circumstances push her to do so. It doesn't seem strange to me that the breaking of the seal coincides with the moment in which she learns the truth and decides to face it.
Justice / Nina: "the girl who had to seek justice for the murder of her beloved and her own acts and thus be a better person." Nina's arc is a revenge arc. Obviously. But the anime gives it a negative treatment, as Nina only gets worse with each new chapter. It's not until she understands all the destruction that her revenge can cause (in a literal sense) that she stops and reconsiders. The Zero Requiem gives Nina the opportunity to redeem herself and give justice to her beloved since the culprit pays for her crime. It's at this point that she begins to heal.
Honor / Jeremiah: "the man who managed to win back his honor after offering his loyalty to his enemy." The entire arc of Jeremiah revolved around honor. He believed that he had failed his empress and his prince, made a fool of himself on a live broadcast, was demoted and fell to the bottom. From there, he only lived to seek revenge. But then again, it wasn't the way. He only redeemed himself by putting himself at the service of a lord worthy of his loyalty: his enemy.
Humanity / Rolo: "the murder weapon that regained humanity from him through love." Another phrase that explains itself. Rolo had been used and manipulated his entire life as a tool. But when he created good memories and a sincere bond with Lelouch, he started to make decisions, think and feel like a human being.
Forgiveness / Shirley: "the girl who learned to forgive thanks to love." We find another arc of revenge. Like Nina, Jeremiah, Suzaku, and Lelouch, Shirley lost someone important to her, was overcome with grief and rage, and was tempted by revenge until she discovered that the killer was the man she loved. In the end, her noble feelings prevail and her love gives her the strength she needs to forgive.
Freedom / Kallen: "the girl who embraced her freedom became a hero who fought to liberate her country and the world." This is going to sound strange, but I barely realized that Kallen is who she is because she is free due to a fanfic that featured an anti-Kallen who was in many ways trapped. Kallen is a free spirit and performs as an autonomous individual. She chooses the friends she wants (be it Britannian or Japanese), she loves the man she wants, she champions the cause she wants, she has the value system she wants. However, there can be no freedom without equality, and Kallen and her people live in a society that promotes inequality. The freedom of some (the Britannians) cannot coerce that of others (the Japanese and even half-blood like her). So Kallen works to change the world to a place where everyone has full freedom. That's her motivation to grow up and become the hero her people and the world need.
Love / CC: "the girl who only until she received love from others was able to love herself." CC's arc ties directly to Lelouch's because they both express a nihilistic philosophy. In short, CC wishes to end herself and the world (through the Ragnarök Connection) because she considers her immortal existence to be meaningless and thus unimportant. Worse still, an immortal life implies eternal pain. Something she can't live with. But she wants to be loved, because all human beings cannot live without love. It is in the nature of the human being to give and receive love. Therefore, love will always prevail in the darkest moments. So, when Lelouch offers his affection to CC, she becomes more human and renews her will to live (see how her arc connects to Rolo's arc). Let's say that she transitions from a negative nihilism to an agathonism (that philosophy that it proposes that you have to enjoy life and help to live a pleasant life).
Peace / Suzaku: "the boy who was able to find peace of mind by creating a peaceful world." Without going any further, the lever that moves Suzaku throughout the series is "guilt". Suzaku feels guilty that he killed his father, he feels guilty that the Japanese are oppressed by the Britannians, he feels guilty that he failed Euphemia in his duty as a knight, he feels guilty that he can't protect everyone… Guilt, guilt, guilt. What is the opposite of guilt? We may all think of different things, but I'm leaving for peace because Suzaku didn't make peace with himself until he got the punishment from him and when did that happen? When he made sure to create a new world with Lelouch with the Zero Requiem, in which all his loved ones could live. No wars, no racism, no terrorism, no hate. In peace.
Will / Lelouch: "the boy who twisted the will of others found the value of the will of the human being and began to dream of tomorrow." It's very ironic. Lelouch's Geass is described as the power capable of bending the wills of others to the mercy of his own. As he progresses on his journey and interacts with other characters, he realizes that human beings actively seek happiness and persist despite adversity. They doesn't give up when they falls, but gets up and continues to fight. That is what it is to be human. Arthur Schopenhauer, in fact, said that the will was the essence of the human being. But I think that the approach of Lelouch and Code Geass goes more for nihilism in its most positive aspect. The one who proposes the destruction of everything to establish new values that allow the übermensch to live in freedom. "Emperor Charles searched for the past, you search for the present. But I search for the future. […]. Because no matter how much time passes, people will continue to search for happiness. People who struggle with sadness, those who seek the future. How everyone keeps wishing for happiness. Human nature is the reason I chose Geass and wearing a mask." This is the key to human survival. This is the meaning of life and what this series wants to teach you.
If you start to examine each of the arcs, you will see that they are all connected in one way or another (after all, they are concepts that appeal to the human condition). And, if you reflect carefully, you'll realize that the arcs of our two main heroes (Lelouch and Suzaku) correlate with the extremist views of Charles and Schneizel respectively (this was something I was planning to address in a discussion on CG antagonistic figures).
I hope you have learned something or found something interesting in this post. If you liked it, don't forget to support me with a comment and/or a reaction. I would really appreciate it as that will help the algorithm.
PS: Don't ask me to come up with an exhaustive analysis of the philosophies raised in this series. Although it may not seem like it, I have a hard time handling philosophy (I don't mind going overboard like I did here).

Always embarrassing to like smth people are saying sucks (and scary in case you watch it and end up agreeing with them) so that's why I'm on anon but I strongly disagree with the people saying Code Geass is fun but not good (paraphrased badly). It IS a fantastic show actually. Here's my very long essay about why you should watch it.
I got my brother interested in rgu by comparing it to Code Geass bc it's his favorite show. You'll be disappointed if you're expecting them to be actually similar, bc they're not really, but they have a similar tone in that it switches rapidly between Serious Plot and Touga Punches a Kangaroo. There's an episode where they have to chase a cat and that's what they do that day. The plot isn't all that similar and the comedy isn't all that similar but it's similarly inconsistent in swapping between the two. And I would argue that it doing this is thematically relevant, bc it's a double life show. Lelouch has his alter ego as Zero and when he's Zero everything feels different to when he's Lelouch. School life is just stupid in comparison, and he's constantly frustrated by it. His school life is pretty much just a humiliating liability, but he can't easily abandon it, so he just has to live with the fact that in between fighting in giant robots he has go to pizza parties (sponsored by Pizza Hut tee em) and whoops! It's Valentine's Day so everyone in the school has to wear heart hats and if a girl knocks off his hat they get to kiss him!!! And he's forced to take that seriously even though he knows how dumb it is and would much rather be commanding robots.
Now look. I do have to warn you. There is a part where he says if he wins the revolution he's gonna make the United States of Japan. That part isn't good. I want you to know I know that part is bad. The politics of this show are Not Always Great. HOWEVER. When I was watching, the main thing that compelled me politically about it was the contrast between Suzaku as the person who wants to Change Things From the Inside vs Lelouch who wants to actually just shoot the people who are oppressing you. Suzaku sucks and the show knows it and I like the show knowing it.
I'm not gonna argue this is a show with generally good politics, but it's not a show that actually cares a whole lot about, like, how a country should be run. The bad guys say fascist shit about like the strong ruling over the weak and the natural order, and they're racist against Japanese people, and the good guys want. I dunno, Freedom. Democracy. United States of Japan. They're bad guys and good guys. That's not what the show is about. The show is about the specific motivations of our important characters. Lelouch talks about wanting Japan to be free or whatever but he makes it very clear from the beginning that the Only thing he Actually cares about is creating a world where his little sister can be happy. And later on you find out what the evil emperor guy is trying to do too (although it's kinda more abstract and weird. Arguably another point of comparison between this and rgu, when it cares more about themes than about telling you What's Actually Happening). I guess I shouldn't act like the political positions of the two sides are irrelevant, but I really don't think it's the focus. Lelouch's politics are My Sister and secondarily I suppose Free Japan if I have time. Suzaku's politics are Free Japan but also you have to be niceys to the government and do what they say bc they're in charge :). The freedom fighters' politics are Free Japan. The Brittanian's politics are We Do What We Want. It's not gonna be a realistic depiction of a good revolution bc the writers didn't know anything about those.
And here I suppose I have to say that I last watched it probably years ago when my politics were worse, so maybe the politics are generally worse than I remember. But my point is you should treat the specific politics stuff like you treat the chess stuff. No one in the writers' room knew how to play chess. They probably didn't bother to watch someone play chess before writing it. When Lelouch says you should move your king first bc "how can a king expect his subjects to lead if he stays back and does nothing" laugh at it and take it as a thematic statement about Lelouch's beliefs. When he says United States of Japan laugh at it and. Well I suppose that one isn't even thematic. You see what I mean though.
Another warning is that there's a specific Very Important plot point that doesn't really make sense and feels really dumb and cheap. That specific thing genuinely does undermine a lot of the show, because it happens kinda suddenly and is very serious and the whole rest of the show is majorly impacted by it and it's very difficult to ignore that that Doesn't Make Sense At All. And you're supposed to be really upset and like. It just doesn't make sense. The second time I watched it it didn't feel as egregious as the first time but the first time I think I almost stopped watching. My advice is to do your best to pretend it makes sense bc I think the results of that thing are actually interesting.
Generally, I think that's the important thing to remember actually. Maybe that's my thesis. Of the essay. Yeah, that sounds smart. Code Geass is a show that doesn't always make total sense, and even when it mostly makes sense it's frequently Really Dumb, so like I can see why people might come away with the impression that it's just a silly nothing show where robots fight and he says United States of Japan. But genuinely I think there's a lot to get from it thematically if you can take it just seriously enough to see what it's trying to do.
There's more I kinda wanna say but I think I need to text my mom back and I can't save asks as drafts. Um um last two points, first, how much you like the show probably depends at least a little on your tolerance for Anime Geniuses knowing everything and pulling bullshit, I don't think Lelouch is as bad in that department as Light Yagami but smth to consider. And second don't watch the movies. The movies suck.
honestly anon i'm genuinely charmed by your sheer passion for this. it feels like it's mirroring me when i defend my fave flawed media including me with fma 03 tbh. like YES it sucks the politics suck but IT IS compelling. that's the kind of shit i enjoy most, ngl. you've made your case convincingly. i think what i really hate is when people claim something is The Most Perfect Thing Ever and then you watch it and it's dogshit in a number of ways that people absolutely refuse to acknowledge and definitely some code geass fans are Like That but also your talking about it kinda echoes how some friends i trust have been talking about it too. i think i'm still gonna go in with low expectations if/when i do watch it, mostly bc that allows me to be pleasantly surprised by something the series DOES do well.
also i grew up on 2000s shounen and seinen. my tolerance for anime bullshit is extremely high as long as i'm into what it's doing thematically or character wise tbh

I was re-reading the original Fushigi Yuugi manga and gosh how I wish Yuu Watase would make remake or reboot of this now that she has matured as a storyteller. But more importantly I would like to see Yui's part of story being re-written, I want her to get her own manga cause her and Seiryuu's story got so overshadowed by Miaka's and Suzaku's story. It's unfair Yui did not get to experience grand adventure and love and get a chance to grow as a person and learning to appreciate herself.
I think that some (most of, actually) stories can only be created at a certain time, and the best thing that can be done about them is leaving them as they are and moving on -- creating something perfect and able to satisfy all the readers of all times is impossible anyway. Speaking of better narration, I'm mostly interested in what Watase can do now with Byakko story, as a better storyteller and someone who clearly has more life and professional experience what she had in the original Fushigi days, but I also consider the original Fushigi an important work of its time and don't wanna judge its 'imperfectness'.
The desire to remake stories to make them good by standards of a time different from when the original work was written doesn't make any sense to me, a well as readers' complaints about something they used to love and got disappointed in as they matured. The harsh reality is that people and trends change, and stories remain as they were written, and it's better to leave them be and not expect them to stay gold and actual for you forever.
I can understand this frustration caused by bad writing or lack of attention to characters and plot points which interest you more than what author could actually offer you, but tbh I don't think that a character not getting the development we wanted for them equals the character not getting development at all. Is a story of grand adventure and love and all really better and greater than a tragedy of falling victim of one's own hatred and loneliness and not getting a happy ending and healthy attitude to oneself? No, in my opinion. A character's tragedy (sometimes deliberately shoved aside by the author too) can evoke more compassion and fondness than a story of success and generic happiness. So in a certain sense Yui's story could resonate with you even in the form it was actually created, so I guess I can't call Watase's narrator skills in 90s bad :")

WIP Folder Game
Rules: In a new post, post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it! And then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
Thank you @delachaise for tagging me!!! 💕💕
Let's face it, some of these might never see the light of day.
Already posted:
what's in a name [star-crossed 'verse] - Tomarrymort, fem!time-travelling!MoD!Harry, fix-it(???), in which Fate is a cruel mistress; Harry wages war against destiny to save everyone she cares about, and ultimately achieve her happy ending with Tom Riddle/Voldemort. All chapter titles and summaries are quotes/excerpts from Shakespeare's Tomeo and Harriet Romeo and Juliet. (Chapter 5 in the works now.)
To be posted (God willing); Tomarrymort:
sin from thy lips - what's in a name (smut) sequel.
'accidental baby acquisition' - post-DH!fem!Harry raises Scarcrux!Tom, featuring a time-travelling!Tom from the 1950s. (prompt by @ sweetalison007-blog; heavily-inspired by Flaky's 'don't blame the stork')
'Obliviate'
'Repent'
'Tom and fem!Harry reincarnate as Merlin and Morgana'
'Demon Lord and Empress'
Manhwa-style Hunter/Player AU.
Other miscellaneous stuff which are on indefinite hiatus (aka my ffnet dark history, because anything I've written pre-2023 is embarrassingly atrocious and I highly discourage anyone from attempting to read them):
The Glass Chimera - Tomarrymort, a HP x Code Geass crossover featuring fem!MoD!Harry; in which Tom Riddle reincarnates as Lelouch vi Britannia and Harry attempts to save him from his fate (dying as the Demon Emperor).
When A Demon Meets A Dark Lord - HP x Code Geass crossover (gen). Lelouch vi Britannia is transported into the HP universe after his death and ends up meeting a young Tom Riddle in Wool's Orphanage, circa 1937-1938. MoD!Harry.
The Demon Who Lived - (the cringiest of them all) HP x Code Geass crossover, featuring Unholy Trinity (Suzaku/Lelouch/C.C.) and Tomarrymort, if you squint. Lelouch vi Britannia reincarnates as Harry Potter, regains his memories as the Demon Emperor when he's kissed by a Dementor before fifth year.
Defying Destinies - BBC Merlin x HP crossover. It's 1943 and Merlin joins Hogwarts as a sixth-year transfer student. His mission? To reform a budding Dark Lord before it's too late. (Tom Riddle reminds him terribly of Morgana Pendragon.)
I don't really have anyone else to tag, lol. But if you're reading this, feel free to consider yourself tagged and share your WIPs with everyone! :)

what was the reaction of the husbands of your Ocs grils when they learned that they were pregnant (Au founders)don't forget Sho and Manda pls they are so cute 🥰
Pregnancy mentions under the cut 🤰
Butsuma (Asako’s husband)
He’s not overly excited about it, but he’s concerned. He’ll be stern about what she can and can’t do now that she’s carrying his child like she’ll listen
Tajima (Sumi’s husband)
He’s so ready for this, don’t play with his emotions, Sumi. A shaky “are you certain?” and he’s got the goofiest smile spreading across his face before he embraces her and tells her he can’t wait to meet their child
Kawarama (Okami’s husband)
Overjoyed! He’s peppering her with kisses and can’t even hide his excitement! Everyone is going to know he’s going to a father by the end of the week because he finds ways to just bring it up
Tobirama (Aori’s husband)
It’s a logical consequence of not exercising self restraint. He wasn’t jumping up and down, but he felt accomplished on the inside giving his wife something she’s always wanted. He’s adding food from his plate to hers from then onwards to keep her and the baby well fed
Itama (Gou’s Husband)
He’s relieved. Gou’s been sick, and now this all makes sense. They’re going to have a baby! He is happy and a little nervous about it, but he knows he can ask his brothers about what to do next.
Madara (Katsura’s husband)
“I suspected as much” he’s smug about it because he knew she was pregnant before she did. He’s getting an heir, so he’s satisfied
Kagami (miu’s husband)
He’s confused. He thought pregnancy was supposed to be a joyous occasion, but Miu is crying and blaming him for impregnating her? It takes a few days for the news to truly settle in, but he’s excited for this new adventure and will talk Miu down from her dramatic edge she’s not her grandmother, he’s not letting her go on missions pregnant. Sorry, dear
Rei (Sora’s Husband)
Scared and guilty feeling. Sora’s the one good thing that’s happened to him and if he lost her he’d be a wreck. It’s his fault not really, she wanted to start a family and he’s going to make sure she stays happy and healthy
Sakumo (Kōmori’s husband)
He’s caught off guard by her stating she has been sensing a a faint chakra growing in her over dinner. It takes a second to realize what she meant, but he’s happy. Happy enough to cry and kisses her sweetly
Suzaku (Erika and Aja’s husband)
He’s happy at first! Erika was the first to announce her pregnancy, which made Aja a bit sad as they’d planned to be pregnant together. Then he’s stressing. It wouldn’t matter to him if Aja was unable to carry children, but it mattered to her. So the relief he (and Erika) felt when it actually happened a few months later for Aja was enough for him to laugh. Two pregnant wives under one roof is stress he welcomes if they’re happy.
Orochimaru (Tora’s situationship)
Didn’t find out he was father until the child was a toddler. He found it to be an interesting development coming from Tora
Manda (Sho’s husband)
He’s a little embarrassed. It means everyone knows they’ve been having unprotected sex 💀 But he’s really happy! Building a family with Sho is beyond his wildest dreams.
