Everything Is Not What It Seems
Prologue
TW// Mentions of D*ath, Violence, and Blood
/shattered realms spoilers\
Chapter One
Her story starts about five years ago. In one of the worst moments of her life.
Hanalea ana’Raisa stood amongst the Ardenine soldiers, a small knife the only weapon left in her hands.
She was just lucky that her parents always told her not to leave the castle without a knife on her person at all times.
There was only one other soldier still standing. A girl around Hana’s age named Arista. Even though she was still living, she was down on one knee, with blood leaking into her fair hair.
Hana stares around, at all of her friends. Now with pale faces and no breath moving their chests. She was practically alone. There was no way out.
She looked down at her feet, and grabbed the closest sword she saw.
Arista lunges forward, but the Arden soldier she was going after grabs her. In a quick motion, he slashed her throat.
“No!” The head soldier, Karn, she believed, shouts. “You fool! What if that had been-“ he cuts himself off.
Hana stares at the fallen soldier. And then, she looks down at the weapon in her hand.
She knew what would happen if they captured her.
She’d rather die.
Hana blinks a few times. “Maker forgive me.” She whispers.
Her knuckles go white with the grip she has on the blade.
Karn laughs. “What are you going to do with that?”
Hana places the tip of the sword to her stomach. She sees the soldier’s eyes go wide. “No!” He screams, rushing forward.
Hana drops to her knees, the blade sliding through her middle.
And then the world went dark.

Everything Is Not What It Seems
Prologue
Chapter One
Warning- mentions of blood and gore
/shattered realms spoilers\
When Hana wakes up again, she is lying on her back on what feels like a table. A woman stands in front of her, her hands pressing into the bare skin of her midriff.
Wait, when had her shirt been lifted up?
Hana lifts her arms in bewilderment, looking around wildly.
The woman puts a comforting hand on her shoulder, a hard look in her eyes. “Calm down, your highness. Let me do my work.”
Hana was still confused, but she did as she was told. Her head rolled to the right, and she sees another table, with another body on top of it.
It was a girl with blood falling into her long blonde hair. Her eyes were closed, and her face pale and lacking all forms of life. But there was no doubt about it.
The girl on the table was her. But how?
Hana finds herself twitching again, but the woman gives her a stern look, and presses down on her middle. “Stay still.” She hisses.
Hana nods, her mind still moving infuriatingly slow. She still had no idea what was going on. She didn’t even know who this woman was. But, she did know that the woman was a wizard. That much was obvious.
She could feel the power pulsing from the woman’s hands straight to her center.
Center… didn’t something happen to her before she passed out?
Hana looks down, and sees a gaping hole in her middle. That image right there was almost enough to make her pass out again.
They stayed in an awkward silence. At least, it was awkward for Hana. It may have just been routine for her healer.
Several minutes later, or it may have been an hour, or maybe even seconds. It was kind of hard to tell. Anyway, a little while later, a man’s voice echoed through the room.
“They are on their way! Quickly! Move away!”
The woman complied, moving her hands away from Hana. Immediately, there was an ache that formed. A type of pain that she hadn’t really noticed until now.
And then, another set of hands was placed in front of her.
Bigger, and far colder than the ones belonging to the woman. And, as she’d thought, they belonged to a man.
This one wasn’t a wizard, but he wasn’t a novice either. His touch was gentle yet not naive. He must have been some sort of healer. At least, that’s what she assumed as he examined her wound, and threaded a needle.
As he started stitching her up, she heard the telltale sound of a door flying open.
The wizard from earlier takes a seat next to Hana. She places her hand on top of Hana’s. Whether for comfort or to magically keep her still, Hana is unsure.
“Is she alive?” An unknown voice barks. Hana closes her eyes, an odd sort of panic filling her chest.
The healer’s hands stop momentarily, his fingers momentarily curling into fists. “I am unsure how to answer that.” He says softly, still proceeding with her treatment.
“Don’t be clever, healer!” Another voice hisses.
“I’m not sure how to answer you,” the man murmurs, his voice laced with barely controlled patience. “Because you brought in two different women. Which one would you like to know about?”
“The princess heir.” One of the men (Hana can’t tell which because they both sound so similar) says.
The wizard stands up, her hand still on Hana’s wrist. “The princess heir…” she says softly, her voice sounding not at all like Hana had pictured it. Dainty and frail, like some low level servant. “Is dead.”
Huh? She found her sluggish thoughts racing. I am? Is this some sort of out of body experience?
She wiggles her toes, and they complied, though with some difficulty.
Hana certainly didn’t feel dead.
One of the soldiers hissed, “Hush, woman! We’re talking to your husband.”
The wizard sat down, squeezing together the hand that was still wrapped around Hana’s wrist. “Yes, sir. I’m sorry, sir.”
The healer clears his throat. “However out of turn she may have spoken…” he says softly, again, his patience sounded strained. “My wife is correct. The princess heir passed on before you brought her here.”
He moves away from Hana, to… well… Hana.
“Her throat was slit,” he murmurs, putting a hand on the aforementioned wound. “She bled out before she got into my table.”
Slit throat… but Hana hadn’t...
“Bloody bones.” A soldier whispers under his breath. “The general is going to kill us when he finds out.”
“What of the other girl?”
“She is currently still alive…” he says slowly. “She may recover. She is currently stable.”
“Are you sure that she isn’t the princess heir?” The soldier’s words had more than one meaning.
“Well… other than the fact that she matches the portrait you gave me to look off of....” he reaches into a drawstring bag, and pulls out a grey wolf ring. Hana’s wolf ring. “We found this on her.”
The soldiers come closer, first looking at the ring, and then looking in between the two girls. Finally, they seem to make a decision. “The general is going to kill us.” One of the soldiers repeats.
“So, what do we do with this one?” The other soldier asks, gesturing at Hana. He reaches at his hip. “Slit her throat as well?”
The wizard stands up again, and Hana sees her hand slip under her blouse. A gesture that she had usually related to her father.
The healer steps in before the woman can say anything. “Perhaps you could get rid of her as well… however it would do you well to have a war prisoner. You wouldn’t want to kill her now, and then have your boss get mad.”
“Are you trying to tell us what to do, healer?” One of the soldiers growls.
The man just shrugs. “Not at all. Only giving my opinion, is all.”
“We don’t need your opinion.” The other soldier responds.
And yet…
“But… it wouldn’t hurt to have a spoil from that battle…”
“She is quite easy on the eyes…” The other agrees.
Hana felt her skin crawl.
They turned back to the healer. “Have her patched up within the hour, and we’ll consider letting her live.”
And then, the door slammed shut behind them.
The healer relaxed his shoulders, the wizard let her trembling facade fall down.
She started mumbling about entitled men, and saying certain words that reminded Hana of adjectives her mom would describe her council members as after a long meeting.
“Do you think you can finish her healing in an hour?” The man asks, putting a hand on the woman’s hand. The gleam of matching rings on each of their fingers catches Hana’s eye.
“I can get the work done, but she resists me when she’s conscious. We’ll have to put her under.” And then, she turns to Hana. “Is that okay?”
A part of Hana told her to say no. She didn’t know these people. She couldn’t trust them.
But something else swayed her to nod. To allow this woman to help her. It might have been the soft glow in her eyes. A glow that reminded her of her mother, and Magret, and even Cat.
The wizard comes closer, taking ahold of Hana’s wrist.
“Wait!” Hana breathes before the magic can take hold. Her voice sounded rough, and foreign to her own ears. “Why- why did you save me?”
Because a lot may be confusing right now, but the only thing that was clear was that this pair had saved her life.
The wizard casts a glance to the man, before turning back to Hana.
“This is a dangerous place for our kind. Both women, and wizards. I hope for a better place for me and my children. And that certainly won’t happen if you get into the wrong hands.”
And that was all that Hana remembered before she drifted off to a dreamless sleep.

HEADCANON
Raisa and Han did not plan to have Hana. She was a happy accident. But, Raisa had massive anger problems during her pregnancy, where even Cat was nervous to go near her. They legit had to take away any sharp objects from places she’d be.
When she had Ash, she was far more normal, and had a great pregnancy (even tho he was also unplanned). However, Ash was the worst baby. He was like a demon incarnate (Averill’s words not mine)
She was extremely emotional with Lyss, who was the only one they had actually planned on ahead of time. However, Lyss would only stop fussing if Han was holding her.
