OKAY I GOT AN IDEA TO RAMBLE ABOUT

INTERPLANETARY TOURISM IS A BIG THING IN MY AU

think about it! there's so many planets with life on them in whatever galaxy my AU is in, so it's only natural that the truly adventurous kind would want to go see what the universe has to offer! and with advanced tech courtesy of haltmann, it's very easy to get from planet to planet!

tour guides on each planet are even themed after the planets they're on. for example, the tour guide of Towara is a cloud-like being with large "horns" that resemble... well, towers! the one for Caverna is a mossy green Rocky, the one on Hotbeat is a lava bubble being... you get the idea.

i still have to flesh the idea out a little bit, but that's what i got so far! i might try to draw some tour guides later to show here!

Smash Academy

A Nintendo-themed version of Tiny Toon Adventures, basically.

Our story begins with Elanore, the would-be protagonist of a new IP who's instead destined for the cutting room floor, or maybe to be a background character in a WarioWare cutscene if she's lucky. As you might expect she's not exactly content with this, and decides to take matters into her own hands. Inspiration strikes when she catches a glimpse of a Tiny Toon Looniversity episode, and she gets to work.

First she takes note of how similar she is to Mario (probably part of what got her game canned, honestly) and builds herself a Luigi, a little robot named Barney. Then she constructs a device that can create game worlds and throws a Tiny Toon Adventures DVD box set and a copy of Smash Ultimate into it, creating a version of Smashville that's an actual entire world with the titular Smash Academy at its heart, where she, Barney, and the other Nintendo Knockoff Kids that were created can learn the finer points of being Video Game Characters.

Aaaand probably cause some trouble along the way.

Here's the ones I've figured out so far.

Elanore

Based on Mario, of course

If you've seen my SMG4 stuff you probably recognize her. She's pretty much the same as she is there, just with no relation to Haltmann Works Co. or to Mario directly.

A brilliant mechanic with a massive mad scientist streak who is the hero of the Soda Kingdom

Very impulsive and tends not to think things through

Also she's French for some reason.

Barney

Technically based on Luigi

Is moreso just a Legally Distinct version of Clank from Ratchet & Clank

Also originally from my SMG4 stuff.

Elanore's robot brother

Makes up about 80% of Elanore's impulse control

Rumble Kong

Based on Donkey Kong

Specifically, has the personality of Movie DK

Dresses like a greaser, complete with pompadour

Not related to DK, but he does look up to him a lot

Dyson

Literally just a smaller, orange version of Kirby

I know Kirby's not named after the vacuum I couldn't help myself

Bailey

Based on Samus

As the name suggests, she has the Justin Bailey color scheme.

Armor is grey and blue with a red arm cannon

Gives everybody nicknames and barely ever uses their real names

Does Not Shut Up Ever

Go on. Guess who he's based on

The Link, Zelda and Ganon of Smash Academy qualify as valid incarnations, but the circumstances of it made things a little screwy

Particularly, this version of Link is terrified of almost everything. He still has the spirit of the Hero and will step up to the task when he has to no questions asked, so he does still qualify to bear the Triforce of Courage, but he is in fact a total scaredy cat

(this is partly due to there not really being a Luigi counterpart since Barney fits the role but not the personality, so the character traits went to the other Man in Green)

Doesn't talk much

Dresses how you'd figure Link would but all his gear looks a bit oversized and worn out to emphasize how seemingly ill-suited he is to the role

Zelda

Seems kind of vain and flighty at first but much like Link is Very Much Still Zelda underneath that

Redhead

Dresses like she came out of a "Modern AU"

Hattrem

Based on either Jigglypuff or Mewtwo. She insists it's the latter

Speaks via telepathy

Sassy

Dislikes loud noises and needless conflict. Violently.

Lester Koopa

Based on Bowser

Elanore's arch-enemy

A distant relative of Bowser and disproportionately proud of it

When things first start out he rallies a bunch of the other villains and steals Smash Academy a la Paper Mario so he can take control of Smashville right out from under Elanore

not a king or a prince or a ruler or leader of any kind, just a penguin with a neat hat and jacket who works hard to be able to keep up with his buddy Dyson

The spike pit with extra steps version of a Muncher

The fact that the third party characters might also get counterparts completely slipped Elanore's mind

He is fully aware of the power he wields as a pretty anime bad boy in a world full of teenage girls

Goes along with Lester's plan because it amuses him, will probably try to destroy the world at some point

Document4: A novel that I’m co-writing. It has a girl with mysterious powers and a scheming aristocrat. It’s kind of getting all my attention right now because deadlines for the publisher. It also has a character named Dorian, who I can’t take seriously after that ‘Funko Pop of Dorian Gray’ post.

STD Ch 2: STD is an unfortunate shortening of the title Silver-Tongued Devil, my Kirby fanfic where Nightmare keeps harassing Customer Service, a poor door-to-door salesman, into joining his monster selling company.

All Applicants Must Love Cats: The lesbian roommate serial killer novel.

Lord and Knight: Kirby fanfic that follows Sonata. Basically, Meta and Dedede become besties. It’s kind of like Once Upon a Dream but more...detailed? 

MetaJecra: Heh. Jecra is a young and super enthusiastic knight who is on a knightly mission to find a monster terrorizing a nearby village and stealing their children, so he goes into the woods, finds Meta (who is not stealing people’s children), and they end up in this huge mess that Garlude has to bail them out of. This is The Adventures of Sir Jecra the Magnificent and Blueberry that I’ve referred to a couple of times.

Modern DLU: This has every scene I’ve ever written and not yet used for DLU.

Overcoming Child Abuse: Someone...long ago, posted this AU about Meta leaving Nightmare and going through therapy, while raising Kirby. And Dedede is Meta’s neighbor and thinks Meta is very attractive, but Meta doesn’t get it. It’s like a...critique of how mental health is treated/finding a good psychiatrist. It’s okay to go to therapy and get medicine and help kind of thing.

Prince Fluff: Chapter Two for Spinning a Yarn, my Kirby fanfic.

Sonatina: The ending chapter for Sonata, one of my other Kirby fanfics.

Sugar-Spun: Kirby gets abducted by an evil wizard who wants to eat him, but it does not all go according to plan.

Superhero AU Galaxia: The Kirby superhero AU focusing on post-Haltmann experimentation Meta, his relationship with Galaxia, and Dark and Daroach having a buddy cop thing going on.

The Golden AU: The Golden Lady AU where Garlude and Galaxia are in love, and no one dies.

Dame Ragnelle: Basically, The Wedding of Sir Gawain, but different. After refusing a man’s advances, Lunette is cursed to be a hideous monster by night unless she can find a man willing to marry her and give her equal footing in their relationship; this, of course, will only work if she doesn’t tell the guy to do this. Lunette’s sister disguises herself as a knight, goes to Arthur’s court, and tells Arthur to solve that riddle or die. So Arthur sets off on this journey to give Gawaine (who hates him) some Family Bonding Treatment(TM). And they run into Lunette, who starts to really have the hots for Gawaine.

Knight Slayer: It’s basically Gareth and Lynette with emphasis on Lynette and her role in basically leading a bunch of knights to their deaths in trying to save her sister.

Legacy: Mysterious Pengu lady arrives and slips Dedede a love potion. She wants to marry him and save her country. Meta is not happy.

Romcom: A romantic comedy involving a couple of Zelda cosplayers.

Sectoniadedede: AU where Sectonia and Dedede have an arranged marriage, while secretly pining for Taranza and Meta.

Seraphina: One of my attempts to work out my childhood abuse and my incredibly dark and complicated family history.

The Lady Hero’s Journey: This strange hero’s journey involving Appalachia and folk tales, set during the Year without Summer.

The Once and Future Queen: Artura Pendragon pulls the sword from the stone, and basically...it’s kind of King Arthur exploring rape culture. 

Astriferous: Woman destined to end the world per the wishes of the cult she lives in decides to run away with a powerful mage. In space.

Clarissa: A retelling of Samuel Richardon’s Clarissa, basically. But more modern.

MetaxSectonia: It’s this...really creepy fic about Sectonia wanting to “remake” Dark in Meta Knight. 

Paging Anna: A reference to Anna Freud. After trying to take over Dreamland, Dedede makes Meta Knight go through this fifteen-step program to overcoming his traumatic childhood.

Sleeping Beauty: It’s Link and Midna post-Twilight Princess. Link falls into some sort of eternal sleep, so Midna and Zelda have to reunite to find a way to wake him up. And there are some really annoying fairies.

Tangled AU: Nightmare is a doting, but lonely wizard who makes himself a son...who is promptly stolen by Yin-Yarn and replaced with a bunch of lettuce, leading to Nightmare’s sort of comedic attack on the Queen of Expy medieval Germany.

The Witch in the Woods: A sort of prequel for Sonata that I never finished.

WIP: It’s literally a bunch of Kirby odds and ends. I have a chapter of Prayers and Miracles here. There’s some of Sonata, a little bit of Spinning a Yarn. Some of The Corpse Bride is here.

Zelda Fanfic: Link and Ganondorf are best friends until Destiny comes calling.

who framed the dededetective AU

A "Who framed Roger Rabbit" inspired Kirby AU

[just some disclaimers: while heavily inspired and based on wfrr's plot, the character's relationships and dynamics from the original film and this AU aren't equivalent! a lot of the roles have changed, and as such, some of the jokes and dynamics will change accordingly to that! there's no equivalent for jessica rabbit, for example, as her role was reworked into another character with a different dynamic and motivations! I tried to keep the characters as close to their game canon as possible, but some aspects from the novels (especially dreamy gear) and the anime will be added!]

some important info before we start!

• kirby in this au/story will use he/they pronouns!

• dreamland here is more similar to how diamond town from the dreamy gears novel worked than the canon dreamland! so this dreamland is set in a more industrial revolution-like era

• kirby as a character will preserve some of his powers like copy abilities or hovering, as it will be relevant story-wise, but he'll be developing them as the story progresses! this kirby doesn't know these powers even exist.

• also, only mage characters such as magolor, elfilin, and taranza will preserve their powers, but will have a limit on them! this also means that dedede doesn't naturally have his elemental abilities, and can't hover; meta won't have his geokinesis or cape (but he'll keep his wings!), etc. so people are familiarized with magic and know about things like sorcerers and the mirror world. but most aren't magic users, or at least strong magic users. sorcerers also get thrown into a special jail, so yeah.

• some of thr plots from kirby's adventures here happen before both kirby and dedede met, and they were solved by the duo of meta knight and dedede and not by kirby

eddie valiant is replaced by dedede. he is a private detective in dreamland, a place that, while charming, has been in decay ever since a corporation called "haltmann industries" took over the place.

while known for his work, it's been long since he last took a case from the inhabitants of gamble galaxy or its surroundings. at least, ever since his sworn partner in investigations, meta knight, disappeared in mysterious circumstances while working on a case to never be seen again.

cranky, depressed and lost in gluttony and laziness, this charming guy was found one day by a creature that he hadn't seen before, and that made the pain of his loss even less bearable due to how similar to his old missing friend he looked.

a pink, round, and merry little kid called kirby.

kirby is a somewhat homeless star child that came searching for the famous detective dedede because his best friend in the whole world, bandana dee, had gone missing!

kirby knew dreamland well and seeing their best friend (and only family they know) not being in any of their favorite usual spots made their little heart break. it was even worse because none of his other waddle friends seemed to be nearby either :(. which was strange, seeing how there were a lot of waddle dees that he knew.

it was actually pretty surprising to them that dedede hadn't met one while living in DL most of his life, but kirby supposed that he just hadn't been out of his old office much since meta's incident, and hadn't had the chance before while he was still solving cases.

after finding the "king" of mysteries and convincing him to take the case, kirby decides to stay with him to help him out on the investigation. however, as they progress in their research, they find a conspiracy behind past and present incidents that seems to go deeper than what they first thought...

dedede and meta, while having their office running, solved mysteries like the dimension mirror case (where they saved the mirror world from dark mind's control, taking him to jail), nightmare corporation's evil schemes, and the original yin yarn's attempt to take over patchland

fluff's parents knew dedede and meta well, and helped to solve some cases together as a team. it all had to be left behind though when fluff was born, so the detective duo decided to give them their magic sock back as a means to protect them from possible outside dangers.

another good friend of both was queen ripple, who teached them a lot about magic and even helped them to stop some dangerous creatures sometimes. she actually was the one who managed to seal dark mind and bring him safely to jail. dedede even had a crush on her for a while, which made meta constantly tease him about it.

daroach also was a friend of both, and his skills as a thief and connection to the black market as well as to other illegal circles helped them to solve some tough crimes sometimes.

to keep a low profile and gain access to interesting information from any type of source, he opened a café nearby their office, to keep more easily in contact and have fresh possibly useful info daily.

however, some of these relationships fell off after meta's disappearance.

ripple kept in contact with dedede through letters, but they haven't seen each other in years.

daroach distanced himself a bit because he felt dedede was responsible for what happened, saying they both should have stayed together instead of splitting to find more info about the case, that perhaps that could've prevented meta from being abducted and missing. still, dedede keeps going regularly to the café, and daroach always takes his order and talks to him for a bit. even if their friendship fell apart and grew distant, the company helped them to start healing, and dedede would never miss having the chance to eat great food to forget about life (and his trauma) every once in a while.
