Hakuryu-en 白龍園 by Patrick Vierthaler Gazing onto beautiful fall colors at Hakuryu-en, a private owned garden in the north of Kyoto. Unlike so many other places in Kyoto, this garden was designed not as a religious place but as a purely aesthetic place. http://flic.kr/p/NLc3DM

Hakuryu-en Garden in Spring 春の白龍園 by Patrick Vierthaler Via Flickr: A very special Japanese garden in the north of Kyoto. Currently private property, but visits are possible during spring and autumn seasons for 100 persons/day. This makes the place feel special and very quiet - quite a rare opportunity in Kyoto. As the owner told me, the fee for the visit (2000Yen, includes a One-Day pass on the Eizan Line) is used for 6 (!) full-time gardeners, who take care of the huge grounds. Thanks for Mr. Yoshino for opening the garden!
