To All the Muslim Women
In today's world, we see a rising trend among many women, including Muslim women, who seek education and career opportunities driven by fear:
What if my husband dies?
What if my husband abuses me?
What if he cheats on me?
While these fears may stem from real societal issues, centering one's entire purpose of education and career on such "what ifs" is problematic from an Islamic perspective. Tawakkul, or placing our complete trust in Allah, is an essential part of our faith. Muslims are encouraged to plan and strive for the best, but at the same time, we must believe that everything is ultimately in Allah's control.
The story of Hajar (alaihi as-salam) is an excellent example of this level of trust. When Prophet Ibrahim (alaihi as-salam) left her in the barren desert of Makkah with her infant son Isma’il, she asked him, "Has Allah commanded you to do this?" When he affirmed, she did not question or complain but instead said, “Then Allah will not abandon us.” She placed her trust entirely in Allah, despite the harshness of her situation.
Allah recounts how, through Hajar's steadfast faith and patience, her efforts in seeking water for her child were not only rewarded but immortalized. Her running between the hills of Safa and Marwa became an essential ritual of Hajj and Umrah, known as Sa’i.
"فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا" "For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease." Quran 94:5-6
This powerful story teaches us that no trial is meaningless, and our struggles are seen by Allah, who is Al-Latif (The Subtle, The Kind). When we endure trials with patience and trust in Him, He not only alleviates our difficulties but elevates us, as He did with Hajar.
Hajar (alaihi as-salam) was not a prophet but a regular person like you and me. Yet, through her Tawakkul, Allah honored her immensely. Allah mentions in the Qur'an that those who are patient and trust Him will be greatly rewarded:
"وَمَن يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّهُ مَخْرَجًا. وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ" "And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect." Quran 65:2-3
This verse reminds us that our provision and our safety do not come from our efforts alone, nor from our spouses or jobs. Rather, they come from Allah, who can provide from sources we never imagined. So, while it is good to be educated and seek lawful work, we should remember that our sustenance and protection are not in the hands of anyone but Allah.
Now, let us consider the flip side of the "what ifs" that often drive people into a false sense of security through worldly means.
What if you get a high-paying job but meet a toxic or corrupt work environment?
What if, God forbid, you get into an accident and are unable to work?
What if you face severe health challenges and are unable to continue?
These scenarios remind us that life is uncertain, and no amount of planning can shield us from Allah's decree. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “If you were to place your trust in Allah truly, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds; they go out in the morning hungry and return full.” (Tirmidhi)
The lesson is clear: We must strive, but ultimately place our reliance on Allah, not our means, education, or jobs. As Allah says:
"إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ" "Indeed, it is Allah who is the [continual] Provider, the firm possessor of strength." Quran 51:58
Yes, planning for our future is wise, but it should not be driven by fear of hypothetical situations, nor should it be rooted in distrust of Allah's plan. The most important step is to shift our intention (niyyah). Our pursuit of education or career should be for the sake of pleasing Allah, benefiting society, and fulfilling our roles as Muslims, not out of anxiety over possible future difficulties.
May Allah strengthen our hearts, increase our trust in Him, and grant us the strength to face life's challenges with faith.

The Preference Of Jihad Over Hajj
‎Dhirar bin Amr said: “I have spent a very long time in Jihad and my heart was longing to Hajj. I made my preparations to go and then went to greet my brothers.
‎I visited Ishaaq bin Abu Farwah to tell him good-bye. He asked me, “Where are you going?”
‎I said: “I am going on Hajj,”
‎He said: “Has your opinion on Jihad changed or what?”
‎I said: “No! Its just that I have been here on Jihad for a long time and I was longing for Hajj and visiting the House of Allah.”
‎He told me: “Dhirar! You should not do what you love, but you should do what Allah loves.
‎O Dhirar, don’t you know that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم only made Hajj once, but then spend his life fighting in Jihad until he met Allah.
‎O Dhirar! If you make Hajj then you are rewarded for your Hajj or umrah. But if you are posted in Jihad or fighting and protecting the backs of Muslims, then if that House is visited by 100,000 pilgrims or whatever number, you would be getting the reward of everyone of their Hajjs and the Hajj of every believing man or woman until the Day of Judgment!
‎Because whoever protects the believers is like the one who protects them from the time of Adam until the Day of Judgment.
‎You are also rewarded for fighting the nonbelievers from the day Adam was created until the Day of Judgment because whoever fights them today is like the one who fights them from the day Adam was created until the Day of Judgment.
‎You are also rewarded for every letter revealed in the Torah, Gospel and Quran because you are fighting to protect the light of Allah from being extinguished.
‎O Dhirar bin Amr! Don’t you know that there is no one closer to the status of prophethood than the scholars and Mujahideen?
‎ I said, “And how is that?”
‎He said: “Because the scholars are the ones who fulfil the role of the Prophets in guiding others to the truth and teaching it to them.
‎While the Mujahideen are the ones who fight for what the Prophets have brought and strive to make the word of Allah the highest and the word of the nonbelievers the lowest.”
‎Dhirar said: “I decided to give up Hajj and remain in Jihad until I die and meet Allah.”
‎رَحِمَهُمُ اللّهُ

What is Worship and Why Are the People Held Responsible For It?
The meaning of worship is that a servant performs his duties such as offering glorification, exaltation, and praise to Almighty God in the way He orders. Giving thought to the fact that he is nurtured with the endless bounties and gifts, man is in charge of doing his duty of proclaiming God is the greatest and offering thanks to Him. It is achieved only by means of worship. A worshipper arranges his all acts and behaviors such as eating and drinking, sitting and standing and so forth in accordance with the bounds of God Almighty. He leads his life as the servant of Allah. This servitude makes him reach the rank of real humanity and dignity. After all, the main goal of the creation is to attain this honor. Indeed God Almighty says in the exalted Quran I have only created Jinn and men, that they may serve Me. (Az-Záriyát: 56). In another verse in the Quran, He says:
O ye people! Worship your Guardian Lord, who created you and those who came before you, that ye may become righteous; Who has made the earth your couch, and the heavens your canopy; and sent down rain from the heavens; and brought forth therewith Fruits for your sustenance; then set not up rivals unto Allah when ye know (the truth). (Al-Baqarah:21-22).
God Almighty created the heaven adorned with the sun and stars, the earth decked out with seas and lands in the best form. He placed senses each of which is more valuable than the universe into the spirit of man. Just as he bestowed on him an eye capable of seeing all beauties, a tongue which is able to take pleasures from all the tastes of the food, so too did He gift him a mind being competent to turn those delights tasted by those senses into knowledge and understanding. And He donated man a conscience that can appreciate not only the bounties filtered from the universe to help him but also physical and spiritual presents placed into his body.
Man can make out through the mind granted to him that he has not been created merely for this world and that he cannot be without any purpose or duty.
He fathoms trough his conscience that he must declare thanks and glorification to his Sustainer. He performs his worship only for Allah. He never attributes any partners to his Lord.
He feels affection solely towards Allah with his heart,; he loves all the creatures worthy of love for the sake of Him.
Even if he were not held responsible for the worship, his mind, heart and conscience would command him to offer worship and obedience to Allah. It is because only worship can gratify those senses.
It is quite obvious that God Almighty, who needs nothing, has no need of our worship. On the contrary, it is we who need to worship.
What will be our response in the Day of Judgment that willingly or unwillingly we will go through when Almighty God asks us Oh my servants! I created you out of nothing. I directed all my bounties in the earth to you in order to meet your endless needs. I fulfilled your needs all the time. My compassion and mercy had always been upon you. Whom were you then together with? Whom did you, completely ignorant of me, offer your praises and thanks to though I was truly worthy of them? Do you think the spiritual torture caused by the humiliation and being ashamed will be greater than the torment of hell? It must be the severe sense of embarrassment that makes the unbeliever utter Woe unto me! Would that I were (mere) dust!"
Just as a man cannot lead his life without religion, so too can Islam not be without performing worship. Let us exemplify this truth with an analogy. Just fancy an Islamic village where azan (call to prayer) is not called. Nobody performs prayers -neither bairam nor Friday prayers nor daily prayers-. No member of that rural community performs fasting, nor gives zakat (alms), goes to Makkah for hajj (pilgrimage). They do not read the Quran, nobody minds about what is haram (forbidden) and what is halal (licit); nobody knows what is obligation and what is incumbent. Nobody brings to his mind to proclaim praises and thanks in return to the never-ending bounties of the Allah.
Do those members of that village not enter a path absolutely contrary to commands of the Quran and the lifestyles of our Prophet (upon whom be peace), his companions, the saints and purified scholars, leading scholars and interpreters of Islamic law and mujaddids (revivers).
As a matter of fact, Islam is not a system based on only theory and conscience only. In many verses of the Revealed Quran, just following the word faith the phrase good deed is used and it is stressed out that good deed is a result of belief.
The reason of sending prophets is to teach the pillars of faith and essentials of Islam to people. That is to say, it is to teach people fully the fundamentals of faith, primarily belief in Allah, and to teach them thoroughly the duties of worship which will enable faith to reach into perfection. Only by means of these glorifications can faith of man become mature. The value of a servant in the presence of Allah depends on the sensibility he displays in his servitude to Him.

The Life of The Prophet Muhammad(pbuh): Farewell Hajj and the Death of the Prophet (pbuh)
The Prophet Asks the Muslims to Forgive Him and He Forgives them
The Messenger of Allah wanted to meet his Companions and forgive one another when his illness was very severe one day.
He leaned on Hazrat Ali and Fadl b. Abbas, stood up with difficulty and went to the Mosque. He ascended to the pulpit and sat.
He said to Bilal,
“Call out to people and tell them to gather in the Mosque. I want to address them. This will be my last address and will.”
Bilal fulfilled this order. The mosque became full of people.
After praising and thanking Allah, the Messenger of Allah addressed his Companions as follows:
“O people! The time to leave you has approached. If I have hit any of you, here is my back; come and hit my back. If I have taken the property of any of you, come and ask it from me. Do not ever have the thought, “the Messenger will get angry with me if I ask my right.” I never get angry with anyone when they ask what they deserve. The best of you in my eye is the one that asks what I owe him or says that he waives his right. I want to go to the presence of my Lord without having any rights of any people.”
There was a sad silence. The Messenger of Allah repeated his words: “O people! If I have hit any of you, here is my back; come and hit my back. If I have taken the property of any of you, here is my property; take it.”
Somebody stood up and said, “O Messenger of Allah! You owe me three dirhams.”
The Prophet said, “I will never say to anyone that he is lying or never ask anyone to swear about this issue; however, I would like to know how I owe you this amount.”
The man said, “O Messenger of Allah! Once, a poor man came to you. You ordered me to give him three dirhams and I gave it to him. That is what I want.”
The Messenger of Allah said, “You are telling the truth.” He said to Fadl, “O Fadl! Give this man three dirhams.”
The Doors Opening to the Mosque are Closed
After that the Messenger of Allah said, “Close all of the doors that open to the Mosque; leave only the door of Abu Bakr open.”
Upon this order, all of the doors of the houses around the Mosque opening to the Mosque except Hazrat Abu Bakr’s were closed.
Hazrat Abu Bakr is Appointed to Lead the Prayers
During the illness of the Messenger of Allah, he always came to the mosque when the adhan was called and led the prayer.
Three days before his death, his illness got worse. Therefore, he could not go to the mosque. He said, “Tell Abu Bakr to lead the prayer.” Thus, he left the duty of leading prayers to Hazrat Abu Bakr.
The Prophet Leads the Prayer for the Last Time
Hazrat Abu Bakr was about to lead the noon prayer.
Meanwhile, the Messenger of Allah felt a bit relieved. He went to the Mosque with the help of Abbas and Hazrat Ali.
When Hz Abu Bakr understood that the Messenger of Allah was coming, he wanted to move back. The Prophet signed to him to stand there. Then, the Prophet ordered the people around him to make him sit next to Abu Bakr. They made him sit on the left of Abu Bakr. The Prophet led the prayer by sitting.
This was the last prayer that the Messenger of Allah led in the Mosque of the Prophet.
Gabriel Comes to Ask about his Health
It was the tenth of Rabiul-Awwal, Saturday.
Gabriel was sent by God Almighty to ask about the health of the Messenger of Allah. He said,
“O Ahmad! Allah sent me to you. Although He knows what he will ask you better than you do, He is asking, ‘How are you?’”
The Messenger of Allah, who felt the longing for meeting Allah in his heart, said, “O Gabriel! I feel troubled and as if I will faint.”
One Day before his Death
It was the eleventh day of Rabiul-Awwal, Sunday…
Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), the Prophet of the jinn and people, had a very high temperature. His wives were around him. Aisha was next to his head.
Meanwhile, Usama came from the military headquarters. The Prophet was lying lost in thought. He had no power to move. Usama kissed his blessed hands and head. He was full of grief and sorrow. He stood opposite the Messenger of Allah respectfully. The Prophet did not say anything. He only raised his hands and wiped them on Usama. It was understood that he was praying for Usama.
After the Messenger of Allah prayed for Usamah, Usamah went straight to his army.

Jumu'ah Sohbet: 26 January 2024
Alhamdulillah (Divine praise) for another synchronous and spiritually significant week amidst the several unknowns that humanity faces. Bismillah (With the name of Allah), we collectively enter my heart's reflection ...
#1. During our Qur'an Contemplation holiday, Khalifa Rubina asked us to reflect on the importance of guidance. I was swimming in gratitude that my rehabilitation gives me sweet time to do just that. On the notion of guidance, I would add that our deen (way of life) is only shaped with purposeful guidance gained by following Allah in the now, and which can lead us to heaven. We were asked to reflect that against Surah Al-Fatiha, which arose as a rhyme out of my heart.
An ode to Surah Al-Fatiha
Mystically containing seven verses
Akin to the possibility of attaining one of the seven levels of heaven versus the heaven sought in the now
Insha'Allah as the hearts' yearning after worldly toil against nafs
Unavoidably, after complete repentance, will we achieve our final destination
What else could free our incomplete selves, but complete surrender
It is not only the opening but most repeated Surah (chapter) of the Qur'an recited in Salah (connected devotion)
Regarded as the key to cementing humanity's Divine purpose
Emblazing Allah as the enactor and source of mercy
Above all other attributes
Repeated in two verses for certain measure
Naturally inclining us into a state of gratitude and praise out of sheer awe
For the Lord of the pluralised "worlds"
Crystalising our Tariqa's emphasis on our deen (way of life) as a truth
There is always more
Which is sought through a dedication to lifelong learning
We will be raised to account for ourselves on Judgment Day
In our worldly existence, were efforts made to connect and devote
While seeking Divine help on the straight path, which was confirmed and sure
As the path of Grace and not the path of deserved punishment
Nor the path of misguidance and manifest error
#2. From Johannesburg, our first Anne (Spiritual mother) was on the last leg of her tender South African reunion because it was without her other half, physically present in this world. Here, she referred to our Rabita (heartfelt connection) enabling us to maintain taqwa (God-consciousness) in our moments in life.
Subhana'Allah, as a result of her timely reminders, 2024 mystically begun by drawing on one's own sense of self-sufficiency in Allah, after doing all we can to ensure our heart-felt connection to Him. At a time when humanity has been warring with the natural world, and only now beginning to experience its consequences. This is worsened by a dis-ease in many social circles where several power-plays are being meted out. Yet with this, we have witnessed an awakening of the minds and hearts of humanity like no other time.
#3. Lastly, was our brother Daud's over-awed, humbled and sick, travel-weary presentation of our Sufi travel delegation to the holy spaces of Mecca and Medina. It mirrored those of us blessed to experience it before him, through Ali Shariati who enlivened my own experience as well as Malcolm X. As it subsequently enlivened both your Aunty Amira and Uncle Bashir's experience of Hajj. Allah bless all living forms that did and continue to exalt Al-Hay (the everlasting, the undying and the ever-living One). As the birdsong at the Prophet's SAW Mosque of Medina, as attempted to be captured by our brother Daud.
Just as my vain efforts to hold onto a piece of flower material wrung around a camel at Jabal al-Noor for your Aunty Farzana, where our Prophet Muhammad SAW would retreat to meet the miraculous encounter with Jibra'il AS. I warned her that it possibly smells of camel dung but she cherished it akin to having received a pot of gold 😉 Allah please bless your noble Nana, Nanu and Mama that enabled my enriching experiences at these holy sites of our planet Earth. In retrospection, with my lately acquired Sufi eyes, do I crave one last experience shared with your Abbu's eyes. Please Ya Allah!
In conclusion, what an enriching but frightening start to 2024. We prooceed, yearning the ability to enact Allah's goodness:
Ya Muqtadir Ya Qadir Ya Nafi

"Created Fruits." Introduction to Surah 13, Ar-Rad, the Thunder.
Tumblr media
Rad is my favorite of all the Surahs in the Quran. A short, collection it was written in the 13th year after Hajj in the early 7th Century. The Surah proclaims the authority of God's Voice. In Hebrew, Ar Rad means "awake and tremble."
Rad was written in Mekkah, "the place of striking" towards the end of Muhammad's stay there, an indication its meaning is for the purposes of preparation of the mind for pure perception. What one finds after that is revealed in Surahs that originated in Medina, the "place of awakening".
The Number for Ar Rad is 166, א‎וו‎ ‎"what you long for eagerly."
The Surah opens with what are called Fatihah or "door openers":
Alif-Lãm-Mĩm-Ra. These are the verses of the Book. What has been revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ from your Lord is the truth, but most people do not believe.
=
"A champion of the people, the water of pleasure, these are the verses of the Book..."
So in verse 1, Allah told Muhammad from the storm comes the voice of God and the water of intelligence, without which man cannot enjoy pleasurable things without becoming wicked. Verse 2 accents this point:
It is Allah Who has raised the heavens without pillars—as you can see—then established Himself on the Throne. He has subjected the sun and the moon, each orbiting for an appointed term. He conducts the whole affair. He makes the signs clear so that you may be certain of the meeting with your Lord.
Every scripture in the West, the Torah, the Gospels and the Quran are like a jockey trying to train the horse to jump over the Fourth Hurdle, from understanding to sentience. Verses that refer to stellar or celestial objects tell man to direct his mind over the urges to be violent and empathize with others instead.
Verse 3 carries this tune as well, refering to the need man has for constant companionship:
And He is the One Who spread out the earth and placed firm mountains and rivers upon it, and created fruits of every kind in pairs.1 He covers the day with night. Surely in this are signs for those who reflect.
Coupling is not at the discretion of anyone but God and various pairs of lovers. About this the Quran is astute:
And on the earth there are ˹different˺ neighbouring tracts, gardens of grapevines, ˹various˺ crops, palm trees—some stemming from the same root, others standing alone. They are all irrigated with the same water, yet We make some taste better than others. Surely in this are signs for those who understand.
Hatred of the other binds man to the furnace of hell, which is under the ground and considered a regression in the number of hurdles:
˹Now,˺ if anything should amaze you ˹O Prophet˺, then it is their question: “When we are reduced to dust, will we really be raised as a new creation?” It is they who have disbelieved in their Lord. It is they who will have shackles around their necks. And it is they who will be the residents of the Fire. They will be there forever.
They ask you ˹O Prophet˺ to hasten the torment rather than grace, though there have ˹already˺ been ˹many˺ torments before them. Surely your Lord is full of forgiveness for people, despite their wrongdoing, and your Lord is truly severe in punishment.
So, God tells Muhammad to tell the world, "Hasten to grace instead" and sentience can be achieved.
Thus begins the Surah.

THE PROPHET’S LAST SERMON: MOUNT ARAFAT தமிழில்
After praising, and thanking Allah he said:
“O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.
O people, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn Abd Al-Muttalib (the Prophet’s uncle) shall henceforth be waived…
Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.
O people, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah’s trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.
O people, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor does a black have any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.
Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.
O people, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born.
Reason well, therefore, O people, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and my example, the Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.
All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people”. (Bukhari, Muslim)
Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Surah Al-Hijr Ayah 89-93
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
15:89 And say (O Muhammad): "I am indeed a plain warner.''
15:90 As We have sent down on the Muqtasimin (conspiring confederates),
15:91 Who have made the Qur'an into parts.
15:92 So, by your Lord, We shall certainly call all of them to account.
15:93 For all that they used to do.
The Messenger is a Plain Warner
Allah commanded His Prophet to tell the people:
And say (O Muhammad): "I am indeed a plain warner."
coming to warn the people of a severe punishment that they will suffer if they reject him, as happened to those nations before them who disbelieved in their Messengers, upon whom Allah sent His punishment and vengeance.
In the two Sahihs it is reported from Abu Musa that the Prophet said:
The parable of myself and that with which Allah has sent me is that of a man who came to his people and said,
`O people! I have seen the (invading) army with my own eyes, and I am a naked warner, so escape, escape!'
Some of his people obeyed him and set out at nightfall, setting off at a slow pace and managing to escape.
Others did not believe him and stayed where they were until the next morning when the (invading) army overtook them and destroyed them, wiping them out.
This is the parable of the one who obeys me and follows what I have brought, and the example of the one who disobeys me and rejects the truth that I have brought.
Explanation of "Al-Muqtasimin”
Allah says:
As We have sent down on the Muqtasimin (conspiring confederates),
the Muqtasimin refers to those who had made a pact to oppose, deny, and insult the Prophets.
Similarly, Allah tells us about the people of Salih:
They said, "Swear to one another (Taqasamu) by Allah that we shall make a secret night attack on him and his household.'' (27:49)
i.e., they plotted to kill him at night. Mujahid said;
"Taqasamu means they swore an oath.''
And they swear by Allah with their strongest oaths, that Allah will not raise up one who dies. (16:38)
(It will be said): "Did you not before swear that you would not leave (the world for the Hereafter)! (14:44)
Are they those, of whom you swore that Allah would never show them mercy. )7:49(
It is as if they took an oath for every single thing that they denied in this world, so they are called the Muqtasimin.
Who have made the Qur'an into parts.
meaning, they have split up the Books that were revealed to them, believing in parts of them and rejecting parts of them.
Who have made the Qur'an into parts. Al-Bukhari reported that Ibn Abbas said,
"They are the People of the Book, who divided the Book into parts, believing in some of it, and rejecting some of it.''
Some have said that Al-Mutaqasimin refers to the Quraysh, that the Qur'an means this Qur'an (as opposed to the Scriptures of the People of the Book), and that "made it into parts'' referred to what Ata' said that;
some of them said that he (the Prophet) was a sorcerer, some said he was crazy, or a soothsayer.
These various allegations were the parts.
This opinion was also reported from Ad-Dahhak and others.
Muhammad bin Ishaq reported from Ibn Abbas that;
Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah - holding a noble position among the people - rallied a group of Quraysh behind him when Al-Mawsim (the time for pilgrims to meet in Makkah for Hajj) had come. He said to them,
"O people of Quraysh! The time of Al-Mawsim has come, and delegations of Arabs will come to you during this time. They will have heard some things about this companion of yours (meaning the Prophet), so agree on one opinion, let there be no contradicting or denials of each other's sayings.''
They said, "And you, O Abu Abd Shams, give us an opinion and we will say that.''
He said, "No, you make the suggestions and I will listen.''
They said, "We say he is a soothsayer.'' He said, "He is not a soothsayer.''
They said, "We say he is crazy.''
He said, "He is not crazy.''
They said, "We say he is a poet.''
He said, "He is not a poet.''
They said, "We say he is a sorcerer.''
He said, "He is not a sorcerer.''
They said, "So what should we say?'' He said,
"By Allah, what he says is as palatable (to the average person) as something sweet, so you cannot say anything against it without it being obviously false. Therefore the most appropriate thing you can say is that he is a sorcerer.''
So they left having agreed upon that, and Allah, revealed concerning them: (Who have made the Qur'an into parts).
meaning, of different types, and
So, by your Lord, We shall certainly call all of them to account. For all that they used to do!
Those were the group who said that about the Messenger of Allah.''
So, by your Lord, We shall certainly call all of them to account. For all that they used to do.
Abu Jafar reported from Ar-Rabi` that Abu Al-Aliyah said,
"All the people will be asked about two things on the Day of Resurrection:
• what they used to worship, and
• what their response was to the
Messengers.''
Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn Abbas said,
So, by your Lord, We shall certainly call all of them to account. For all that they used to do.
then he said:
So on that Day no question will be asked of man or Jinn as to his sin. (55:39)
He said,
"They will not be asked, `Did you do such and such!' Because Allah knows better than they do about that. But He will say, `Why did you do such and such!'''

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again.
Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest); therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib (Prophet’s uncle) shall henceforth be waived…
O People, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, perform your five daily prayers (salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in zakat (almsgiving). Perform Hajj if you can afford it.
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor does a black have any superiority over a white except by piety and good action.
Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand the words that I convey to you.

Prophet Muhammad’s final sermon was delivered during the Hajj of the year 632 C.E., the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the lunar year, at Arafat, the most blessed day of the year. There were numerous Muslims present with the Prophet during his last pilgrimage when he delivered his last sermon.
Even today, the last sermon of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is passed to every Muslim in every corner of the world through all possible means of communication. Muslims are reminded of it in mosques and in lectures. Indeed the meanings found in this sermon are astounding, touching upon some of the most important rights Allah Almighty has over humanity, and humanity has over each other. Though the Prophet’s soul (peace be upon him) has left this world, his words are still living in our hearts.

Last sermon of Prophet Muhammad SallAllaho ‘alaihi wa Sallam
This sermon was delivered on the Ninth (9th) Day of Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah Year 632 A.C (10 A.H.) in the ‘Uranah valley of Mount Arafat’ in Mecca.
After praising and thanking God (Allah) the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.
“O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn ‘Abd-al Muttalib [the Prophet’s uncle] be waived.
“Every right arising out of homicide in pre-Islamic days is henceforth waived and the first such right that I waive is that arising from the murder of Rabiah ibn al-Harith.
“O People, the unbelievers indulge in tampering with the calendar in order to make permissible that which Allah forbade, and to forbid that which Allah has made permissible. With Allah the months are twelve in number. Four of them are holy, three of these are successive and one occurs singly between the months of Jumada and Sha'ban.
“Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope of that he will be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.
“O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women but they also have rights over you. O People, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

The Life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): Calling the Tribes to Islam, the Allegiances of Aqaba and Migration to Madinah
Aqaba Pledges and the Spread of Islam in Madinah: Part 2
The Second Aqaba AllegianceIt was the 13th year of the Islamic calendar (622 A.D.)
During the Hajj season of this year, Hazrat Mus’ab bin Umayr came to Mecca with 75 people, two of them were women, of the Aws and Khazraj tribes.
This group went to our Holy Prophet (PBUH) who was sitting at the Masjid-al-Haram with his uncle Hazrat Abbas, and made the following offer:
Oh, Allah’s Apostle! We are a rather big group. We agree to take you amongst us, to help you, to sacrifice ourselves for your sake, and to protect your inner-being as we do your physical being. Where should we meet with you to further discuss this matter?”
Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) again deemed it suitable to meet at Aqaba.
This meeting was to be held at night and no one else was to know. In fact, in order not to attract any attention they would leave from their encampment in very small groups to go to Aqaba.
As instructed, the Muslims from Medina gathered in the valley near Aqaba at nighttime without attracting anyone’s attention and without letting anyone else know.
Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) came with his uncle Hazrat Abbas who had not become a Muslim yet. Hazrat Abbas’ purpose was to not leave his nephew alone in this important matter and to hear the given promises himself.
At first, Hazrat Abbas began to speak. He made a speech saying that if the Muslims of Madina were confident they could protect our Holy Prophet (PBUH) that they should proceed and if they were not confident then they had to abandon this plan at once.
However, the Muslims of Medina wanted our Holy Prophet (PBUH) to speak: They said, “O Messenger of Allah! You talk, too! Obtain the promise that you want for you and for your Lord from us.”
At that moment As’ad bin Zurara, the leader of the Muslims of Medina, received permission from our Holy Prophet (PBUH) to speak and said, “O Allah’s Apostle, every invitation has a way. That way can be either be or difficult! The invitation you make is a difficult one for the people of today to accept. You invited us to your religion and to abandon the religion we used to follow. This was a very difficult task. Despite this, we accepted your invitation. We were a community that protected our homeland with honor and against all kinds of invasion; nobody could dare to dominate us except us let alone a person who abandoned his tribe and whose uncles wanted to surrender him to his enemies. Although this was very difficult, we accepted your offer on this path! However, unless Allah bestows the resolve to discover the true path and the hope to reach beneficence, then none of this will appeal to the people. However, we accepted this by avowing with our tongues, testifying with our hearts, and reaching out to our hands. We testify to you by knowing and believing all that you bring from Allah. We testify to our Lord and your Lord. Allah’s powerful hands are upon our own hands. Our blood is with your blood, our hands are you with your hands. We will protect you as we protect ourselves, our children, and our wives. If we break our promise, then let us be grief-stricken people who have broken Allah’s promise.”
Hazrat As’ad bin Zurara completed the final portion of his speech:
“O Allah’s Apostle! Take whatever promise from us that you desire for yourself and for the sake of Allah.”
Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) first recited some verses from the Holy Quran. Afterward, he listed the conditions he wanted for himself and His Lord’s sake:
My request for the sake of Allah, the Exalted, is that you;
“Worship Him without associating any partners to Him, you perform your salah (daily prayers) and to pray your zakat (alms.)
“As for myself;
“Testify that I am Allah’s Messenger and protect me as you would yourselves, your children, and your wives.”
This time Abdullah bin Rawaha received permission to speak; he said, “O Allah’s Apostle! If we fulfill what you say, then what is in it for us?”
Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) replied, “Paradise.”
Happiness brightly shone in their eyes as they all testified and said, “In that case, this is a rewarding and beneficial exchange.”
Afterwards, they asked our Holy Prophet (PBUH), “How should we pledge our allegiance to you?”
Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) answered, “You must promise me that you will testify to there being no god but Allah and that He sent me as His Apostle, to pray your salah (daily prayers), to pay your zakat (alms,) to obey me in times of joy and sorrow, to completely submit to my commands, to help me in every way, and when I go there, to protect me from the same things from which you would protect yourselves, wives, and children!”
Twelve Representatives
Upon this, our Holy Prophet (PBUH) declared, “Choose 12 individuals from among yourselves who will stand by me in every matter as the representatives of their tribes. Moses also had 12 representatives from the Sons of Israel.”
The Muslims of Madina chose nine representatives from the Khazraj tribe and three from the Aws.
The chosen individuals from the Khazraj were as follows:
1) Abu Umama As'ad bin Zurara, 2) Sa’d bin Rabi’, 3) Rafi’ bin Malik, 4) Abdullah bin Rawaha, 5) Abdullah bin Amr, 6) Bara’ bin Ma'rur, 7) Sa’d bin Ubada, 8) Ubada bin Sâmit, 9) Mundhir bin Amr.
The representatives chosen for the Aws were:
1) Usaid bin Khudayr, 2) Sa’d bin Haythama, 3) Abu'l-Haytham Malik bin Tayyihan.
All of these representatives were the leading figures of Madina, esteemed individuals, and literate scholars.
Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) said to these representatives, “Just as the disciples vouched for Isa (Jesus,) Son of Mary, against their tribes, you too are the disciples of yourselves. And I am the disciple of the immigrants from Mecca.”
They confirmed by saying, “Yes.”
Furthermore, after the 12 representatives were chosen, our Holy Prophet (PBUH) appointed Hazrat As’ad bin Zurara as the head of the 12 representatives.
These representatives spoke to the groups they represented, explained the importance of the allegiance, and prepared their respective groups to also pledge their allegiance to our Holy Prophet (PBUH.)
Afterward, our Holy Prophet (PBUH) extended his holy hand. The Muslims of Madina all pledged their allegiance one by one. Only the two women did not give their hands but he accepted them as having pledged.
In a sense, this allegiance was an alliance made between the Muslims of Madina and Mecca.
The Polytheists Sense Things!
The Allegiance took place in the darkness of the night in a secluded place that nobody other than those invited could see.
Despite this, as soon as the allegiance was complete, they all heard a sound: “O Quraysh! Muhammad and the Madinans who have left the religion of their fathers, have gathered and agreed to wage war on you!”
Where could this voice that tore the silence of the night be coming from? Concern and worry overcame everyone.
This voice resembled the voice of Munabbih bin Hajjaj. Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) commanded: “Immediately return to your camps!”
At that time, Abbas bin Ubada said, “O Allah’s Apostle, if you would like, as soon as morning comes, we can sharpen our swords, tread upon the community of Mina, and slay them.”
However, our Holy Prophet (PBUH) was commanded to use his sword of patience, he declared,
“No, no. We are not yet commanded to act in this way. Everyone, return to your spots.”
Upon this, the Muslims of Madina returned to their camps.
When the morning came, the polytheists began to investigate this incident whose purpose was yet unknown to them. At first, they asked the polytheists of Madina. However, they swore they were uninformed of this matter, “Such a thing did not happen. We do not know of such a thing.”
The Muslims of Madina thought silence was the best way, and for that reason, they did not say one word.
This time, the polytheists went to Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul and asked him. He said, “That is a grand work. Such a thing must not have happened. These must be empty words. The tribe did not consult with me. When I was in Yathrib they did not do anything without first consulting with me.”
The polytheists then determined that the polytheists of Madina knew nothing about this matter.
If our Holy Prophet (PBUH) had not said, “Do not let anyone else know about this incident” and if the Muslims of Madina had not concealed this matter from their polytheist compatriots, then, of course, this matter would have been heard by the polytheists of Mecca and a great trouble would have befallen upon the Muslims.
When the Season of Hajj came to a close, the Muslims of Madina set off to return to their homeland.
A short time after the Muslims of Madina had left, the polytheists learned what had happened. They immediately planned to keep a close watch on the Muslims from Madina. However, it had been a long time since they had left; thus, they were only able to capture two people: Sa’d bin Ubada and Mundhir bin Amr. These two individuals had somehow stayed behind when the caravan set off. Much later, Hazrat Mundhir was able to find a way and escape from their hands. The polytheists only brought Sa’d bin Ubada to Mecca. They took their anger and resentment out on him by torturing and subjecting him to all kinds of cruelty. At last, Hazrat Sa’d bin Ubada was released from this torture when he received the protection of two polytheists he had known from long before and who had been his guests in Madina.
Madinah Muslims who returned to their homeland were looking forward to welcoming muhajirs and the Messenger of Allah!

Hajj and Tawheed
Tumblr media
Hajj and Tawheed - Hajj is one of the 5 pillars of Islam and an act of worship that must be devoted only to Allah. It is a declaration and a manifestation of the belief in the Oneness (tawheed) of Allah. It is a time to call upon Allah to purify the self from any worship to other than Him. The Muslim who declares the talbiyah: (Labbaika allaahumma labbaik. labbaika laa shareeka laka labbaik; innal-hamda wan-ni’mata laka wal mulk, laa shareeka lak) understands that it is a du’aa that means: “Here I am O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Surely all praise is due to You, and every bounty is from You, and all dominion is Yours, and You have no partner.” The Muslim, therefore, should submit himself completely (mentally, spiritually, and physically) to Allah Alone. No worship should be devoted to statues, tombs, religious leaders, righteous men (dead or alive) or any part of the creation! The tawheed of Allah requires the Muslim to follow the perfect way of worship. This is the way (sunnah) of Muhammad sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam as understood by the sahaabah (the companions of the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam), who were the best of mankind. With 'Eid Al Adh'ha being the next holiday for the Muslim ummah and arriving within the next few months. We thought it important to share the importance Hajj has in regards to Tawheed and Islam in general. Our Shaykh, Dr. Saleh' As Saleh' (rahimahullah) shared important information about Hajj in this lecture below. Please study it and share as much as possible. Remember to donate to Nerd of Islam, as we need your generosity to continue to provide free and authentic Islamic knowledge online.
Hajj and Tawheed
Skip To Audio Lecture 1. This is a journey that was taken by Prophets and Messengers before you. Those who take the path of the Prophets magnify the tawheed of Allah and His House. There are those, however, who come to perform hajj and their hearts are attached to other than Allaah. They invoke the dead and the righteous, whether present or absent. This is the opposite of tawheed, it is shirk no matter what they call it because it is setting up rivals besides Allaah. So, free your intention from any kind of devotion to other than Allaah. Repent and come with a sincere heart submitting to Allaah remembering what Ibraheem and his son Ismaa’eel said when they were raising the foundations of Allah’s House, the ka’bah: “Our Lord! And make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto You, and show us our Manasik (all the ceremonies of pilgrimage – Hajj and ‘Umrah, etc.), and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.” (Baqarah 2:128) 2. You are set to depart and you may or may not return to your home. Make this journey to Allaah’s House as Allaah wants it. Think of the next journey that is surely coming, the one that leads to the meeting of Allaah, Most High. This raises questions like: What did I prepare for that Day? Am I following Allaah’s Commands? Am I a follower of the sunnah of Muhammad salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam? Do I really know of Allaah? Am I a believer that Allaah is above the seven heavens over his ‘arsh as He has stated in His Book and as His Messengers have asserted? Am I a believer that believes Allah has a true Face that suits His Majesty as He has affirmed in the Qur’aan and as has been affirmed by His Prophet Muhammad salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam? Am I a believer in all of Allaah’s Names, Attributes and Actions which He has affirmed in His Book and by His Messengers? Or do I just take and accept by my doubt, rejecting, or distorting the meanings of Allaah’s Attributes and Actions? And invoke not any other ilah (god) along with Allah, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). Everything will perish save His Face. His is the Decision, and to Him you (all) shall be returned. (Al-Qasas 28:88)
Hajj and Tawheed
3. Know, may Allaah’s Mercy be upon you, that when you reach the meeqaat there is another meeqaat that is still to come. It is the meeqaat (appointed meeting) on the Day of Ressurection: Say (O Muhammad salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasalaam): “(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. (Al-Waqi’ah 56:49-50) 4. When you start the talbiyah remember the Command of Allaah ‘azza wa jall to the Prophet Ibraaheem ‘alayhi salaam: And proclaim to mankind the Hajj (pilgrimage). They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel, they will come from every deep and distant (wide) mountain highway (to perform Hajj). (Al-Hajj 22:27) The talbiyah you make is in response to the Prophet Ibraaheem’s proclamation to visit Allaah’s house of worship. Allaah is Most Great. 5. Upon entering Makkah remember that you are in the Secure Sanctuary: Have We not established for them a secure sanctuary (Makkah), to which are brought fruits of all kinds, a provision from Ourselves, but most of them know not. (Al-Qasas 28:57) Let one commit himself to repentance, having a good opinion of Allaah, hoping that Allaah will grant him security from His Punishment. 6. You will enter one of the gates of al-Masjid al-Haraam. Then there you are before the magnificent House of Allaah, Most High, the ka’bah. Now you see what you hoped to see for a long time. Thank Allaah subhanahu wa ta’ala for making this possible and hope that He ‘azza wa jall will grant you the greatest reward of seeing His Majestic Face on the Day of Resurrection. This thankfulness is not just in saying “alhamdu-lillaah,” but also by obeying Allaah while on hajj and for the rest of your life. 7. You start your tawaaf knowing that it is a great time for magnifying Allaah the Exalted. Remember Him ‘azza wa jall by His Names, Attributes and Actions. Also while in tawaaf try to reflect upon the time when Prophet Muhammad salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam was prevented from doing the same thing you are doing today. Then think about what he did in clearing out the site from the symbols signifying worship to other than Allaah! All idols were demolished. Busy yourself with du’aa. Ask Allaah, the Most Great, to make you hold to the correct belief and Path of the salaf and make you die on it. Ask Allaah to save you from all forms of shirk and bid’ah.
Hajj and Tawheed
8. While in sa’yi, contemplate on Haajar, the mother of Ismaa’eel, when she asked her husband Ibraaheem ‘alayhi salaam: “Did Allah order you to do this (leaving her and her baby Ismaa’eel in Makkah)? He said: “Yes.” Her great response was: “Then He (Allaah) will not neglect us!” Think about this great dependence upon Allaah when you are in the sa’yi walking the same path which Haajar took in search for water and for means of life around the mounts of Safa and Marwah.Think about her endurance, perseverance and trust in Allaah. The sa’yi exemplifies the strong belief that we are in need of One Who Sustains and Provides – Allaah, the Exalted. Think about Ibraaheem’s invocation on his way homeward to Palestine: O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in an uncultivable valley by Your Sacred House (the Ka’bah at Makkah); in order, O our Lord, that they may perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), so fill some hearts among men with love towards them, and (O Allah) provide them with fruits so that they may give thanks. (Ibrahim 14:37) Men and fruits came to Makkah from many places. Ibraaheem ‘alayhi salaam returned to visit and later to share with his son Ismaa’eel the noble task of raising the foundations of the ka’bah. 9. The standing on ‘Arafaat is the hajj. The crowds should remind you of the Day of Resurrection. Humble yourself to Allaah, manifest your ‘uboodiyyah to Him Alone through du’aa, sincere intention and strong determination to free yourself from the sins of the past and to build up a commitment to rush for doing what is good. Think of becoming a better person when you return. Rid yourself of false pride and showing off because it may ruin what you gain on this day. 10. You gathered the pebbles and you are about to embark on stoning the jamaraat. This is an act of obedience and remembrance of Allaah, Most Magnificent. The Prophet salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam said: “When you cast the small pebbles (i.e. at the jamaraat), it will be a light for you on the Day of Resurrection.” (1) 11. When performing the sacrifice remember the saying oh Allaah, the Most High: It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him. (Al-Hajj 22:37) 12. When you have completed your hajj, do not think that the remembrance of Allaah has ended. Listen to what Allah ‘azza wa jall says: So when you have accomplished your Manasik remember Allah as you remember your forefathers or with a far more remembrance. (Al-Baqarah 2:200) Special note: If you go to Madeenah then the objective of your visit should be according to the sunnah and not bid’ah. Your intention is to set on a journey to visit the Prophet’s mosque and not his grave. When you reach the mosque and you pray upon entering then you may go to the grave and say, “Assalamu ‘alayka ayyuhan-nabiyy.” (2) The same salaam is also mentioned when you pass by Abu Bakr and ‘Umar without innovations like: a. Visiting the grave of the Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam before praying in the mosque. b. Making du’aa facing the grave. c. Seeking nearness to Allaah by means of the Prophet salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam. This is a prohibited form of tawassul. d. Seeking intercession from the Prophet salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam. e. Placing the hands upon the grills around the room containing the Prophet’s grave to seek blessings, etc. (3) Remember the Prophet’s salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam sayings: “Do not make my grave an ‘eed (place of celebration)…” (4) “May Allaah’s curse be on the Jews and Christians for taking the graves of their Prophets as places of worship.” (5) “Those before you took the graves of their Prophets as places of worship. Do not take graves as places of worship for verily I forbid you to do so.” (6) 13. The journey is not meant to gain any material reward. It is a selfless sacrifice solely for Allaah, Most Majestic. It demands true love and fear of Him. It should be performed with full consciousness of one’s heart, with full humility and submission to Allaah. It should not be thought of as a tourist-type excursion or be performed as mere physical rites. It develops sincerity, piety, humility, self-control, sacrifice, and true knowledge of the meaning of submission and obedience to Allaah, Most High. It helps the pilgrim to be a better person who is devoted to Allaah in every aspect of his life.

This hadeeth is reported by Shaykh Al-Albaani in his Silsilat al-Ahaadeeth as-Saheehah, V.6, hedeeth #2515 (2) The position of the scholars regarding visiting the gravesites by women can be summarized as follows: (a) Disliked but not unlawful, (b) Allowable, if done infrequently. If a woman is known as being unable to behave herself within the limits of sharee’ah at a gravesite, then she should be prevented from visiting the graves, (c) Forbidden, and (d) A grave sin Many scholars state that women visiting the Prophet’s mosque may pronounce the salaam upon the Prophet salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam wherever the person may be. The Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam is in a state of barzakh (a state of existence that begins with death and lasts until the Day of Resurrection), the nature of which is only known to Allaah, Most High. 3. LESSONS FROM
SURAH AL-BAQARAH
Whatever you do for Allah SWT, do it with sincerity and at the level of excellence
- A person remembers him the most whom he loves the most. Who do we love the most? Allah SWT or the people? Who do we remember and miss often? [Self-analysis]
If we claim to love Allah SWT but don't talk about Him, think about Him or connect with Him, then our love is not true.
-We're all being tested, who follows the way of Rasoolullah (SA) and who follows his own desires
- When you are with the people who love to argue, do not sit with them, do not engage in arguments with them. Go and do something worthwhile for your akhirah.
- Don't listen to those who have no (authentic) knowledge. Search for people better than you.
- Everything has a focal point. Who is our Focal Point? It should be none other than Allah SWT. We are here to worship Him, to submit to His commands, to seek His pleasure and to return to Him seeking His Countenance.
- Do not fear the people. Only fear Allah SWT. If He is pleased with you nothing can harm you.
- In this life, everyone will disappoint you. Allah SWT is the Only One Who will never disappoint you. So why not only have expectations from Him?
- Race to good deeds; compete in this. Pray all obligatory prayers at their appointed time. Don't delay your Zakat or Hajj. Be gentle, generous and easy going.
- Be grateful for the present (it could have been worse) and be hopeful for the future (calamities are not there forever)
- When people remind you of what you don't have then instead of being sad or angry say: Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilahi Rajeoun
- Those who have a strong connection with Allah SWT are not perturbed by the challenges of this life. If we truly love Allah SWT, we will make an effort to wake up in the night and connect with Him in seclusion like Rasoolullah (SA).
- When you feel lazy about your worship remember your death
- When people leave you, refuse to help you or refuse listen to or understand your viewpoint then say: HasbunAllahu Wa Ni'mal Wakeel. He knows the truth and He is Sufficient for you.
- Spend your best in the way of Allah SWT. Your wealth, possessions, skills, time, any other blessing. Don't give your trash or leftover in the way of Allah SWT.
- Evaluate your du'as: How much do you ask for Dunya? How much do you cry over the calamities of the Hereafter?
- When things go against your desires say: Radhitubillahi Rabban (I am pleased with my Lord). Do not focus on what has been lost but on what you have gained. Lost your job but joined a Qur'an class? It's a blessing! Allah SWT has better plans for us, trust Him. Be patient and make good du'as for yourself; for your Dunya and for your Hereafter.
- Shaytan wants us to do three things: evil, immorality and say about Allah SWT what is untrue
- Leave anything that has little benefit but a lot of evil. It is not worth it. Your Hereafter is more important.
- Allah SWT pleased you by providing you food of your choice (a scholar says: imagine if we had to eat rocks), please Him by eating Halal and Tayyab and using that energy to worship Him and strive in His Path.
- Write your Will [Waseeyah], especially if you live in a non- Muslim country or else your property will NOT be distributed according to the shares ordained by Allah SWT in the Qur'an
- When you make du'a "feel" that Allah SWT is near you because He says so in Ayah 2:186
- Take "Sabr" with you when you go for 'Umrah, Hajj, to the masjid or whenever you are meeting people. Don't dispute especially in places where Allah SWT is remembered.
- Allah SWT loves those who are the repentant and purify themselves (2:222)
- Be physically and intellectually fit (2:247). Allah SWT chooses people because of their physical and intellectual strength, not their wealth and possessions.
