Statement Begins.
ARCHIVIST: So, Ms. Reed…
ADI: Mx, actually. Non-Binary. But call me Adi; no need for all the formalities.
ARCHIVIST: Ah, apologies. So you are here in the Archives for?
ADI: I’m your new assistant. Elias should have sent something through for my transfer. Been out of the institute for a while.
ARCHIVIST: New assistant? I hadn’t put in any request for more assistants, and I haven’t received any notice.
ADI: No request needed. Elias personally transferred me down here.
ARCHIVIST: Ah. And about your credentials?
ADI: I used to work up in Research. Not in the same area as you, Sasha, and Tim, but we had overlap. So I’m fully qualified to be handling all this material.
ARCHIVIST: That was quite some time ago. You said you’d been away?
ADI: Small sabbatical, as it were. Needed some time away from here. I’m sure there was a lot of gossip around the time I left.
ARCHIVIST: Was there an incident?
ADI: There was. Back in late 2013, I was still working in Research with a man named Archie. We had our project assigned to us, but we had personal work as well. I had a bit of an accident with my research- messy book-related business. I made a statement to Gertrude about it a long time ago, but I’m not sure if she kept it in all this. I’m sure there are probably some other statements lying around here that are similar. Anyway, after my accident, I was not fully myself, and when Archie and I were having our weekly meeting for project updates, there was an incident. I’m sure HR or someone has the full detailed report somewhere in this building, but long story short, I bit Archie. Took quite a chunk out of his arm, and if the rumors I heard were true, most of it had to be amputated. Something about lots of nasty bacteria in a human mouth.
ARCHIVIST: Wait, you bit someone?
ADI: Yes, yes, I bit someone. I’m not going to now, obviously, since I’m easily allowed back into the building, but Elias thought it best I take a bit of time away from the institute after it all. I’m sure it helped on the legal side of it all if I was gone.
ARCHIVIST: So you’ve spent, what, the last almost two years on a sort of extended leave of absence?
ADI: Basically. Elias didn’t want to fire me, but I couldn’t exactly continue as normal, so I left. Took some time away to get my head on straight [CHUCKLES]. I went back to America for a while to visit family. Y’know, for the support system and all that. Getting out of London for a while was probably the best thing for me at the time. It took a bit for me to start feeling myself again, but I’m okay now. I had come back to the UK about a year ago to get situated again. I heard through other contacts that Gertrude had up and left. Whether that’s the truth, I don’t know. Elias reached back out shortly after to check in on me and request me back. I would be back in Research as it’s been some time, so the incident should have faded out of popularity, but I think Archie still works up there, in a much less demanding part of it now. Elias can’t put me back up there, or else it’d all come back to light. So now I’m down here. Probably much easier to keep an eye on me in a smaller department.
ARCHIVIST: So this is what, some personal favor from Elias?
ADI: I wouldn’t call it a favor per se. I am very good at my job, and Elias respected that I needed some time away. [LAUGHS] If he’d kept me here, I think something worse would’ve happened than just a bite.
ARCHIVIST: [SPUTTERS] You do realize how that makes you sound, correct? It sounds completely unsafe to keep you employed here.
ADI: Well, yes, I was unsafe to be around. But now I’m not. Plus, it’s not like you can fire me. Elias sees some purpose in my employment, so now I’m here. It’s not like an extra pair of hands couldn’t hurt in sorting all of this [PAUSE] mess.
ARCHIVIST: [LONG SIGH]. If I must keep you, then you might as well be of use. I’ll let Tim walk you through all the onboarding paperwork. [YELLING] Tim! One last thing, will you require any accommodations for your, uh, injuries?
ADI: What? Oh, these! [LAUGH] No, no, I’ll be just fine. I got these a long time ago, basically just like any other part of me now.
[DOOR OPENS]
TIM: You called, Boss? Oh, Hello!
ARCHIVIST: Tim, this is Adi. They’ll be joining us down here as another assistant. Please walk them through all the processes, but not in musical form this time.
TIM: Can do, Bossman. Ready to be buried in paperwork?
ARCHIVIST: Tim.
ADI: [LAUGHS, CHAIR CREAKING AS THEY STAND] I’m sure we can’t get fully buried today, so lead the way.
[FOOTSTEPS AND VOICES FADING AWAY]
TIM: I think I remember you from research a couple of years back! Were those rumors ever true?
ADI: I think Andie’s arm speaks for itself.
TIM: Oh damn. [CHUCKLES] Guess we know who to not annoy now.
ADI: I don’t bite anymore, promise. Unless asked very, very nicely.

Any CoS issued before the suspension, still under processing – will be put on hold until the investigation is over and a decision is made by the Home Office.
However, you must continue to comply with the sponsor duties, throughout your suspension as well.
The next few steps are critical. As a Sponsor Licence holder, a Sponsorship Licence revocation might raise questions in your mind like – how does this impact sponsored worker’s visas, how do you respond to this hurdle, or how long would it take to resolve this issue?! It is an understandable cause of concern. But definitely not the end of the road.
What to do when a sponsor loses their licence?
After you’ve received a notice of suspension, you have 2 choices:
Respond to the allegations by challenging the evidence and seeking to reinstate the licence
Respond by accepting the allegations and acknowledging how you will address these breaches.
Important facts to know about Sponsor Licence Suspension
In case of a Sponsorship Licence Revocation or suspension, you are to respond to the Home Office in the required timeframe – which is typically 20 days. If you fail to do so, your licence may be revoked.
Based on the status of your response the Home Office will carry-on further investigations before making a decision.
If the Home Office accepts your argument, then your licence is likely to be reinstated, either as an A-rating or B-rating.
If reinstated with B-rating, the organization will have a lot of work to do – they will be given the action plan that must be followed to re-attain the A-rated sponsor status.
The detail of the action plan will depend on the breaches
You will have to prove sufficient progress within a specific timeframe – 20 days.
Sponsors will also have to pay a fee for the action plan.
The Sponsorship Licence suspension notice will advise the deadline for your response. However, you have 20 days to send a written response to theĀ Home Office. These 20 days are your chance to seek a review of the decision and set out any mitigating arguments you believe exist. The response must be in writing and attached with relevant supporting documents, which serve as grounds to help your case.
