obscura love interests as paintings!
hello, yes, this vn has consumed my days. have a healthy dose of artistic rambles relating to the love interests from someone who knows nothing about art, and enjoy!
the pictures are unfortunately only of details, because tumblr will crash and burn if i try putting all 15 full paintings in one post, but seriously. look up the paintings. they're so beautiful y'all.
divider by @/cafekitsune
keir
boy peeling fruit by michelangelo caravaggio! picked because it gave me chilling-after-work vibes and it's kinda domestic!
the shipwreck by claude-joseph vernet! it's the tragedy! the despair! the only thing you can do is help those who aren't dead yet!
the last day of pompeii by karl bryullov! yes. it's the same reason as above. add the impotence of being unable to stop what's causing it and muah! gold! also volcano.
cirrus
noli me tangere by titian vecellio! this painting is named after the biblical episode after jesus' resurrection, and it's symbolical of belief/love without a physical aspect to it.
death and life by gustav klimt! another one that is about a lack of physical union, but i also picked it because of the light and dark contrast between life and death.
the annunciation by henry ossawa tanner! it depicts the moment gabriel informed mary of her pregnancy, and it is very much about clarity and revelations, usually of the holy kind.
francesco
david with the head of goliath by michelangelo caravaggio! there are many theories about what this one is actually about, but one of them talks about caravaggio's youth ruining his chance at becoming old. do you see my vision.
by the sea by piet mondrian! this one is mostly about the vibes, it's very rich but also simplistic in a way?
roses, convolvulus, poppies, and other flowers in an urn on a stone ledge by rachel ruysch! a peony at the central point for love and wealth, foxglove that, despite symbolising deceit also leans into healing, the nasturium standing for victory despite struggles!
oleander
the aegean sea by frederic edwin church! a temple of bacchus and a double rainbow and the freedom of an open sea. there's something there i tell you.
cymon and iphigenia by frederic leighton! cymon gazes upon a sleeping iphigenia and is filled with inspiration of which he never knew before. it has a very warm feeling to it, and it is set at dusk in early autumn. also it's just pretty.
symphony in white, no.1 by james mcneill whistler! the original artist said that this painting had no deeper meaning, ominous much, but also it depicts a woman casually standing on a dead wolf, which is undeniably badass.
+ bonus! vesper
the first mourning by william-adolphe bouguereau! adam and eve mourning their son after he died! it looks beautiful and desperate and completely anguished.
descent into limbo by andrea mantegna! this one is all because of vesper going into the mountain not sorry at all. the man in the painting is begging for mercy or help or literally anything.
the death of adonis by peter paul rubens! someone died when they should have lived. someone died way before their time. vesper my beloved this will be you.
#obscura vn#obscura keir#obscura cirrus#obscura francesco#obscura oleander#obscura vesper#friendly reminder that i am artistically illiterate i just like pretty things#hope y'all enjoyed!#seven.

Fictional Stories:From Noli me Tanghere
NARCISISA (SISA)
Reverse Isekai, GN! Reader but you're in a skirt. Angst and fluff and a drizzle of crack, Warnings for Screaming, child loss, loss of Sanity
This is based on our project last year lol this has been rotting in my drafts
"Oh Geez! why would they Volonteer me to represent the class!!" You huffed as you went inside one of the apartments in your family's rental place to use as a dorm. "Are you alright your grace?" Asked Kaveh leaning on the couch with a Sketchbook. "No. Not really...Given the fact that I have to perform on stage in...a week max?" Pinching the bridge of your nose while pacing. "What exactly are you performing your holiness?" Asked Zhongli placing a tray of newly brewed tea on the coffee table. You passed him a Convenient English Version of Jose Rizal's work: Noli me Tanghere
"Page 58 that's the character..." You pointed dropping your self on the couch next to Kaveh. Xingqiu saw the book and flipped to said page "Sisa? What's her character?"
"So bassicaly she's a woman driven crazy because of her husband's abuse and the loss of her 2 sons because of the corrupt church"you stated directly at the book thinking If you missed anything. They looks the right amount of concerned.
"Now if you'll excuse me, I have to dig through my closet because it's in 2 days" you stood up rushing to your room.
Once again, you're on the couch with the ladies: Yun Jin, Nilou, and Ayaka. "I just need a twist... something that will make people react, " you whispered to yourself. The others looked very much concerned for your well-being. The competition was tomorrow, and it was very nerve racking, no one dared to cut you from your concentration.
You almost started jumping in joy when an idea hit you. Looking up songs upon songs and making a little to then sing "ok...Im ready!" You said to yourself. Ayaka softly patted your back with a gentle smile. You can relax just a bit.
The day of the competition arrived, and you managed to slip the genshin cast into school pretending that they were cosplaying. You were pacing around back stage calming down your nerves with Yun Jin making sure you look alright.
"Representing Section Juan Luna!..." The teacher called out as the lights dimmed and you walked on stage singing a small tune
Thats when you got your class to do it to scream insults at you as you're performing. "Baliw! Baliw!" Crazy! Crazy! they all kept screaming thats when you started to shout back "Baliw!? Di ako Baliw! Nakikita mo ba ilaw sa Kampanaryo! Anak ko yon! Si Crispin! Nagpapadausdos sa Lubid! Crispin! Basilio! Anak ko! " Crazy!? Im not Crazy! Cant you see the light in the steeple! Those are my children! Crispin! Pulling the rope! Crispin! Basilio! My children!
You started sobbing uncontrollably acting as if you actually gone crazy as the music drops. Then the light dimmed ending your performance. A loud round of applause rang in the gymnasium. You stood up and bowed.
After you got off the stage you went over to the genshin cast they were cheering you on. Now all you had to do was sit and watch the rest of the performances.
"Now it is time to announce the winners!" The vice president of the Pandayan Filipino Club said. It finally arrived to announce your grade's winners
"Remember Your Grace, No matter if you win or lose" Zhongli said.
"For the grand champion! And the best performance for Sisa! Goes to..." You felt your body go stiff, you were holding onto Kaveh for support. "SECTION JUAN LUNA!" Both the announcers said. You accidentally pushed eachother when you heard you won.
You quickly made your way up the stage to get the Trophy and Medal and bowed. All is well and hard work payed off

Magnus Zogratis has never found solace in the extranatural. The war of his kingdom against Clover has been going for as long as he can remember, and even isolated as he is, he knows that they call him a devil. But the devils are not the enemy. The Holy is what must be denigrated, and to survive in House Zogratis, one must know who God is.
A failed paladin has few options, and a failed paladin is not human. It's a lesson the bird learns almost as soon as he's brought to life. I recently started reading Noli Me Tángere and holy moly my weak Finnish brain. I'm programmed to read a drama arc. You know, where tension builds up, reaches its peak, and then makes a descend to the finish.
Meanwhile NMT drama arc is like throwing a crayon into a tumble dryer. We start and right away there's a DEAD DAD who has been EXHUMED AND DISPOSED OF also a PRETTY GIRL FLOWERS BLOOM AROUND HER AND CHERUBS but she's ignored because DAYDREAMING OF HOW MY DAD CALLED MY NAME AS HIS FINAL WORD IN JAIL he was jailed because HE SAVED A CHILD'S LIFE ENEMIES SAW A CHANCE ...and we're not even yet at the part where the hero finds out about how the priest he earlier on greeted as a family friend was responsible of exhuming the dad, but we readers know cause it was explained to US. Like. I'm a wreck but like wrecked with crack, so I can't stop taking more. What else could even go more wrong at this point, I'm afraid I'll find out.

Holy shit, I found you—-
Ok I have to say, I’ve been reading fanfiction for nearly half my life, and out of all of them, your Code Geass Britannia’s Daughters series are quite possibly the best I’ve ever read. Specifically “The Tigress.”
Just everything about it is perfect. The writing, Euphemia’s characterization, how small seemingly insignificant characters like the gardener Matiu have a bigger impact than one may realize, how they bond over how much they miss their loved ones, and how he comes up at the end when Euphy’s dying and she hopes he can come home to his daughter (I think her names Anahera)
Euphemia was up there as one of my favorite code geass characters, but your fanfiction quite possibly made her my favorite. I’ve probably internalized an unhealthy amount and projected it into canon to the point I forget that we don’t know her mother or what’s happened to her, or that we don’t know what her classmates thought of her, just things like that.
I’m not exaggerating when I say this fic changed my life, with Euphemia realizing there are things worth sacrificing if only for the chance, how every worm mattered and was worth saving even if they couldn’t save them all. I think about your piece of writing every single day, hell nearly every day during the school year I’d pull up your fanfiction and read it and just feel every emotion within. According to my archive history, I’ve visited The Tigress over 300-400 times….I need a life lol
Ok and with Cornelia’s pov in fics like When You Lie Howling (love the meaning behind the title) To start off, it’s just…the little things between the fanfictions. How in The Tigress Evelyn is hardly mentioned because Euphemia hardly remembers her but she’s much more prominent in fics with Cornelia’s pov because she was around. Or how the Tigress has a softer, more flowery feel with a bit of edge and suffering in the cracks, while When You Lie Howling has a very brutal, hardened feel with occasional flowers growing in the crevices. I feel like it perfectly characterizes the sisters.
Also, another thing I loved in WYLH is that scene with Cornelia, Evelyn, and baby Euphie. In between the hard exterior and feelings and thoughts of the second princess, we get a glimpse of what it was once like. I could legitimately feel the nostalgia, the faded edges a childhood memory has, and the melancholic aura. I’m pretty sure I cried once after reading it near the end between all the scenes of Cornelia’s heartache.
Even if it’s Never Enough….you really know how to destroy somebody, don’t you. All of Cornelia’s guilt is confronted, head on, and her feelings on how Euphemia might feel toward her and everything, which is heartbreaking because we’ve seen Euphie’s perspective and we know at certain parts she would never feel that way towards her sister. And not to get personal on main, but as someone who has sorta lost people, you’ve captured those feelings of grief and regret, very, very well.
Anyway, I am so sorry for suddenly invading your askbox with my brain rot over your fics, I am not exaggerating or making it up when I say I think about them daily and nearly forget they’re not canon, and that I really, really look up to you and your fanfiction. Anyway, have a good day/night
PS I have also read Noli mi Tangere, Look me in the eyes, and your other code geass works and I absolutely adore them too lol. These three in particular are just my personal favs
I have been thinking all morning about how to respond to this wonderful message, and wanting to make sure that I took the proper time to do so.
First off, thank you so much. You have absolutely nothing to apologize for; any writer would be elated to receive a message like this one. Especially those of us who have poured our hearts into our work for years in relative obscurity. To know someone out there has been listening. That someone got it. That someone opened their own heart up to ours. This series was one of the first places I ever allowed myself to be really vulnerable in my writing, and "The Tigress" in particular has so much of my unguarded soul in it. What you have written here means so much to me, and it absolutely made my day.
I have such mixed feelings about Code Geass' treatment of Euphemia. In so many ways, she felt like one of the "realest" characters to me. On the surface, she has all the trappings of the naive, sweet ingenue. And she is naive and sweet to a fault, but she's also so much more. She has incredible emotional intelligence. She is not afraid to put herself in real danger for what she believes in, and it she's not just some silly young girl who is too sheltered to know bad things could really happen to her. Multiple of her siblings have been killed in this conflict! She nearly watched her sister die on the battlefield! She knows what could happen to her. And, at the same time, she is also a sensitive teenage girl struggling with insecurity and loneliness. Nobody around her takes her seriously or recognizes her strengths.
It felt like they gave her so much dimension and then never really gave her the space in the story to fully explore all of it, to let her bloom into a full character. For all her complexity, she never quite escaped the fate of being used as a plot device. I wanted to, at the very least, give her final fate back to her. Make it part of her story. Not just a clumsy plot twist that creates shock value for the audience, guilt for Lelouch, and rage for Suzaku. (I consider it the sacred duty of a fanfic author to pull women out of refrigerators.)
Cornelia got the same treatment, arguably with even less insight. There were so many hints at complexity with her, but she was too relegated to the supporting cast of someone else's story for any of that to ever pay off in a satisfying way. What happens to her sister drives her - this woman whose entire identity was wrapped up in her station and her empire - to abandon both. Because she was a sister before she was a princess or a general. But we never get that story at all - only little glimpses of it whenever she happens to cross paths again with the main characters.
I am truly honored to hear that the life I have worked to breathe into these characters has helped bring them more to life for you. That small introductions like Evelyn and Matiu have made their impact. Because these characters carry a lot of weight. About what it means to be a woman in the Britannian royal family, to be one of many wives, to be a mother of daughters. About what it means to be a subject living under the Britannian boot, still trying to find hope for the future for one's children (and how an observant, sensitive girl like Euphie never even had to leave her own home, let alone the imperial core, to begin realizing and hating the ways she was unwittingly complicit in this web of suffering and oppression).
"Or how the Tigress has a softer, more flowery feel with a bit of edge and suffering in the cracks, while When You Lie Howling has a very brutal, hardened feel with occasional flowers growing in the crevices."
This is so what I was going for, and I'm thrilled that it came across so clearly. The way both of these women have suffered, and while Cornelia responded by becoming harder, Euphie responded by becoming softer. And how Cornelia believed that she could shield Euphie by making herself tough and standing between her and the realities of the world. But, all the while, those realities still got through, and Euphemia handled them in her own way. And then the lingering question of, did it make a difference in the end? Was the net result good or bad, or did it matter at all? And what comes next?
I have toyed with the idea of adding more works to this series because there are still so many corners I want to shine a light one, and knowing someone is listening makes me think it might be worth the effort after all.

Week 3: Holy Car-noli
Howdy y'all, it's me Connor back after a week full of automotive adventures.
(Picture of me, just chilling at the train station)
Classes continued on this week in their same rigor. Japanese is always a blast and although I am happy with the amount I have learned, especially in regards to everyday phrases. I am quite disappointed with the lack of Hiragana and Katakana we are learning. I would love to be able to read Japanese , so to supplement this I am doing some solo studying.
Engineering class is engineering class. The lectures are long and super technical but I would by lying if I said it wasn't interesting and I wasn't learning a ton. Homework are starting to pick up also so I have had a bit less time to just goof off but I am here for the classes at the end of the day.
Continuing on the automotive train, this week has been chock full of many automobile adventures:
The first and arguably my favorite stop of the trip so far was Liberty Walk Garage. Liberty Walk is a custom build company founded in Nagoya and has built itself to be arguably the most famous and well renown custom built company in the world. They work with all sorts of different cars from 1980s-1990s JDM classics like the Nissan Silvia to modern day hyper cars like their numerous Lamborghini Huracán. I even got to see one of the cars that got my interested in custom builds in the first place. In the middle photo you can see a wide-bodied full carbo-fiber Nissan R35 GTR. I remember when I was younger watching Youtube videos of this exact car and being able to see every inch of it in person was fantastic. After spending a bit too much money in the giftshop my friends and I were actually offered a semi-private tour of their Miami Showroom, a garage with all of their most recent and most famous cars. We even got driven there in a luxury van for free. On the right you can see the driveway to the garage and another one of my all time favorite cars the Datsun Fairlady Z (I GOT TO SIT IN IT, IT WAS SO COOL).
On the left is a photo of myself Infront of a Ferrari 458 and one of Liberty Walk's numerous Lamborghinis. On the right is within the Miami Showroom.
These two photos might be the biggest flex photos I have. I got to sit in THE Liberty Walk Ferrari F40. This is well over a million dollar car and you could even see the racing wear on the tires. It was one of the coolest experiences I have had and I could not stop smiling the entire time.
This is a video I took inside of the F40. It was certainly a squeeze (I almost didn't fit) but it is so cool. And yes there is a set of keys in the ignition, but I didn't get to start it :(
I also got to visit two different Toyota Museums. The photo on the left was taken in the Toyota Company Commemorative Museum, which surrounded the history of the company back when the made cotton looms. The photo on the right was taken at the Toyota Automotive Museum (As was the photo below) which simply showed off famous cars throughout history. The Commemorative Museum although not my favorite had a ton of interesting exhibits, specifically it had an EV swapped 2000GT which caused quite a stir in my tour group because why would you turn such a beautifully built car into an electric vehicle. If you are especially observant you might also notice that the two photos I chose for these museum are of the same car, and you would be right. That is because the Lexus LFA is the peak of the Toyota Company and there are almost no stock cars that exist better than it.
This is a first run 1990 Honda NSX, another absolute beauty of a car.
This is a photo in front of Paradise Road, a wonderful hidden gem of a garage. It is well know for its work on lowriders and had some legendary machinery. I mean in this photo alone you can see not only a pimped out Harley Soft tail but an original Chevrolet El Camino. We almost missed out on this stop but I'm so happy we went.
On the left is a photo of Me, My friends, and the head of the garage and one of the coolest people I have ever met, Junichi. He has won countless competitions due to his masterful low rider builds (And yes that is his El Camino on the right, he is planning on building it out more). He was the founder of The Pharaohs, the oldest car club in Nagoya. We talked to him for hours and it was amazing.
My last adventure of this week was something I was excited to do since day one. I got to practice with the Nagoya University Rugby Team. These guys were a ton of fun to play with. The practice was tough but fun, and I made two pretty close friends the three times I went. We even traded gear that I cannot wait to show off to my team back in Michigan. But that just about closes up my adventures for the week.
NOW IT IS TIME FOR WEEKLY FOOD REVIEWS:
I went to two very excellent spots this week:
This was a small food cart called Curry Girl. Sadly I didn't take a picture of the food but it was amazing. Sweet and slightly spicy, the meat was tender and they offered huge portions. We walk by this cart every day to class so Ethan and I figured it was time for a stop.
This was the other big food stop I had this week and I wish I could tell you the name but I could not find it on google. This was a real hole-in-the-wall restaurant recommended by a Nagoya University student we made friends with. The seats and floor were dirty, the windows unwashed, but this was by far and away the best bowl of ramen I have had in Japan.
I am really settling into the culture here and having the time of my life. I have experienced and seen things completely unique to Japan and made memories I will never forget.
Until next time, さようなら, また 来週
