The Ex-Wife?- Part 1
Warnings: Swearing, Angst, Heartbreak.
Words: 2024
Summary: Sam Winchester never wanted to get his heart broken ever again after having his first wedding end in disaster. He pretends to have an ex-wife you, but what happens when he begins to have feelings for you that he didn’t ask for?
Pairing: Lawyer!Sam Winchester X Reader
A/N: Welcome to Part 1 of The Ex-Wife? I know that I shouldn’t be starting another series so soon, but I wanted to try to get this one in as soon as I could since I had seen the movie Just Go With It. I thought maybe that this would make a good Sam series as well. I know that I’ve gotten a few Sam series written so far, and I thought that was okay, but I’m hoping that you’ll enjoy it. Sadly the reader won’t quite come into this story just yet. I hope that you enjoy this first part of The Ex-Wife?
September 24, 2005
The church had slowly begun to fill up for Samuel Winchester's wedding, a twenty-two year old college student who was going to Stanford University and was finally going to get a full ride to become a lawyer. It was something that he had always wanted and it was something that his father, mother, and older brother were proud of.
The bride, Jessica Moore was in her beautiful gown that flattered her figure nicely. Her hair and makeup were getting fixed by her friends.
“You look so gorgeous, Jessica. I’m happy you picked this dress.” Her friend with red hair said with a smile.
“Yes.” Her brunette friend said, nodding her head.
Jessica let out a soft chuckle her hand coming up to her mouth delicately. “Guys, I’m getting married.”
“Not without your veil, you can’t. Where is it?” Cassie, Dean’s wife, had questioned.
“I think I left it upstairs.”
Cassie got up from her seat smoothing out her dress. “Don’t worry, I’ll get it… you’ll be my sister-in-law soon enough.” She said as she left the room.
The red haired bride’s maid rolled her eyes. “Ugh… why do you have her as a bride’s maid?”
Jessica let out a soft sigh. “I’m truly sorry about her…. She’s Sam’s sister-in-law.”
“How are you going to deal with that?” The blonde haired bride’s maid asked looking at Jessica.
“I’m just going to lay down the law with Sam. We’re going to see his family as little as possible. I mean he’ll be a big time lawyer.”
The brunette bride’s maid looked at Jessica with pursed lips. “You sure that he is going to go along with that? You are ordering him around with how often you and him see his family?”
“Sam doesn’t seem to say no to me. Believe me. He won’t say no to this either.” Jessica said with a small smile.
Little did that Jessica knew Sam Winchester, her fiance was right outside of the room. He had been fixing his tie in the bathroom and he had heard everything that Jessica had said. His lips went together in a thin line. Did Jessica really think of him as a well trained dog?
“So… how’d it go with Brady last night?” He heard a bride’s maid asked.
“Shh!”
Sam’s eyes went wide, his best friend and one of his groom’s men had done something? Had Jessica been cheating on him for a while?
“I told him if he wanted to stop the wedding, he had to speak up now, or forever hold his peace.” He heard Jessica lowering her tone. He knew why she was doing that, just in case someone walked by the room and heard them talking.
“What’d he say?” He heard another ask.
“He said he’s never going to settle down, and that I should go and marry Sam.”
“Did he give you a ‘wedding present’?” The bride’s maid asked, her voice going slightly higher in delight.
“Uh… I guess you could call it that.”
He heard the squealing from the girls and he closed his eyes lowering his head. He hadn’t expected Jessica and Brady to go behind his back and cheat on him. He had done so much for Jessica, he really had, and now this. What was he supposed to do. He couldn’t just marry someone that he didn’t trust. Someone who didn’t like his brother’s wife.
“Shh! It’s the last time I swear! Sam’s so sweet, and considerate. And he’s going to be a lawyer. So I’m marrying him.”
Sam swallowed the lump that formed in his throat. He turned on his heels sharply and went towards the other hallway only to run into Dean who had been looking for him.
“Sammy… where have you been?” Dean took in Sam’s appearance and saw tears falling from his baby brother’s hazel eyes. He felt his heart lurch, something had happened to cause his baby brother to be in tears. “Sammy, what happened?”
“She’s cheating on me, Dean,” Sam said softly, his voice cracking a little bit.
“Jessica’s cheating on you?” Dean felt his heart breaking a little bit knowing that his baby brother had just gotten his heart ripped out of his chest.
Sam nodded his head. “Yeah. With Brady.”
Dean’s head whipped around to where Brady was inside of the main hall. “Do you want me to knock the bastard’s teeth down his throat?”
Sam shook his head as more tears slipped from his gorgeous hazel eyes. Sam didn’t want his older brother to go off and do something stupid. “Forget it, Dean.” Sam said softly as he wiped his tears that had fallen. “I don’t want you to do something that’s going to get you into trouble. I can’t go in there though.”
Dean put his hand on Sam’s shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. “Go and get drunk, Sammy. I’ll tell mom and dad that you're not going through with the wedding. I won’t go into detail with them on it…. The last thing we need is mom going ballistic with Jessica and Brady for this.”
Sam nodded his head and slowly turned on his heels and slowly left the building. He couldn’t face Brady or Jessica… or even that his parents. He just couldn’t believe that Jessica could do such a thing to him. He was going to have to find another apartment to live in so he could continue going to school and get his degree as a lawyer. He wouldn’t put him through the torture of him seeing Jessica together with Brady. But the thought that was in his mind was, how many others did she cheat on him with?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sam sat at the bar dressed in his tux, the bow undone drinking a beer. He didn’t even notice that the bar had been slowly filling in since he had arrived. He had taken Dean’s word and gone out drinking. He was just planning on forgetting the night all together. He didn’t even want to think of Jessica cheating on him, granted, he wanted the reason, but he at that moment was too hurt to even care. All he wanted to do was forget the day that he almost married her.
He twirled the ring that he had bought to wear when he married Jessica. He didn’t think about taking it off. It was just a reminded of what had happened. He was thinking of pawning it off after he got back to the apartment. He let out a soft breath as he brought the beer bottle back up to his lips taking a sip of the cool beverage.
“Pardon me miss, I have seemed to have lost my phone number. Can I borrow yours?” He heard one crude remark of trying to pick up someone, which was probably a lady.
“Baby, I’m no Barney Rubble, but I can make your bedrock!” Another man jeered at.
Madison, a woman with brown hair and brown eyes took a seat next to Sam. Her purse has fallen to the ground.
Sam leaned over slowly and picked up her fallen purse making sure that nothing had fallen out of her bag. “Excuse me, ma’am, you…”
“Can I just sit here for a few seconds without getting hit on by someone?!” She hissed fairly pissed off looking at Sam with narrowed eyes. She noticed the wedding band that was on Sam’s left hand. “Oh. I thought you were…”
Sam cleared his throat some. “I just wanted to give you your purse back.”
Madison took her purse from him. “Thank you.” She said softly, offering him a small smile. “Sorry I’m so jumpy, it’s just… I bet you didn’t meet the lady who…” She gestured to the ring that was on his hand. “Gave you that ring in a meat market like this.”
Sam let out a soft breath and took a drink of his beer. “College cafeteria. Bumped into her and she took my heart.”
“Awe… How long have you been married?”
Sam turned and looked at her, about to tell her the truth and he stopped. He was awestruck by this woman that sat next to him. “I’ve been married for two years. College sweethearts. Married in our second year of college. We married in Hawaii by a waterfall. Wrote our own vows… mine only took 5 minutes to say since I had so much to tell her. She’s just… she’s my world.”
Madison looked at him with tear filled eyes. “Wow… just wow…” She said softly. “Why can’t I have something like that with a guy?” She thought about how happy she would be. “Sometimes even in a place like this,” She let out a soft breath. “I feel so alone.” She lightly touched Sam’s wedding ring. “Tell me… why are all the good ones are married?”
Sam nervously took a drink from his bottle, letting out a soft breath. He truly didn’t know what to truly say to Madison.
“So, where is your wife tonight?” Madison asked curiously.
“Oh…” Sam let out a soft breath. “She’s out…”
“With who?”
Sam let out a soft scoff. “That’s the question… and I have a pretty good idea. One of my own friends.”
“That’s… terrible.”
Sam let out a soft breath running his hand through his hair. “No, it’s my fault really, for not paying attention to her during studies helping her out.”
“You’re both college students… it doesn’t mean to go out and cheat. Why don’t you leave her?”
“Because… we have a daughter together.” He lied softly. He knew that his older brother was going to give him hell for lying, but he couldn’t seem to help it. “We…” He let out a soft breath. “We put on a good face for our little girl. But I can’t say I’m not lonely.”
“You poor guy…” Madison let out a soft breath. She looked into his hazel eyes, feeling a connection with him. “Do you want to get out of here?”
Sam swallowed the lump in his throat. “Yes.”
Madison grabbed Sam’s hand and led him out of the bar with her.
July 8, 2006
Sam sat at another bar drinking another beer knowing that this was probably a bad idea for him to be using his wedding band all over again to hook up with another girl, but he had seen Jessica that day hanging on Brady’s arm, looking fairly happy, and it upset him to know that Jessica was still screwing around with Brady after everything that she had done to him. Perhaps she didn’t love him like she had said she did when she was with him with how happy she looked with Brady.
Sarah, a woman with brown hair and hazel colored eyes sat with him. She had been listening to his long fabricated story about Jessica trying to get sympathy, which of course worked. Her hand resting on top of his left hand.
“And you know what had hurt me the most?” Sam said going on in his story that he was telling Sarah. “It was the same motel we went to on our honeymoon.”
Sarah patted his hand lightly. “You poor man.”
“I’m trying to stay strong.” He admitted softly rubbing the back of his neck. “Shot?”
Sarah nodded her head.
Sam raised his hand ordering him and her a shot.
August 18, 2007
Sam pursed his lips together as he sat in another bar with Amelia, who was a woman with brown hair and brown eyes. Sam had just gotten done telling her a fabricated story.
Amelia touched Sam’s cheek lightly. “I can’t believe she did that.” Her eyes wide in shock. “With your own cousin.”
“It’s not her fault, she was drunk. You see, there’s three of us in this marriage… me, her, and Jose Cuaro… and my cousin. I guess that makes four. That I know of.” Sam said, lying once more. The stories always seemed to take well and the women that he told them to, seemed to sympathize with him for being cheated on.
Amelia leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips to keep his pain away.
