1990s Trance Playlist
I've been sort of pecking around the edges over the last bunch of weeks at the Harthouse Records catalog, but this week, to close out 2023, I'm finally diving right into its gooey muck and providing a bunch of tunes that really helped to make the label what it was: a pioneering trance music juggernaut šŸ˜¤. Trance music really started to find its underground global audience in the late 90s, but the bridge to get it to that pointā€”with its TiĆ«stos and Armin van Buurens and suchā€”partially originates from the German city of Frankfurt, where Harthouse was originally headquartered, and first opened its doors in 1991.
Co-founded by the legendary Sven VƤth, the label would issue its debut release in February of 1992, with a 12-inch called "My Name Is Barbarella," by Barbarella, which was a duo that consisted of VƤth himself and his constant recording partner, Ralf Hildenbeutel. A good way to think of the relationship and dynamic between these two as producers is that of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Sven was basically the ideas man and Ralf then found ways to make those ideas into sonic reality. And with "My Name Is Barbarella," which sampled one of Jane Fonda's lines from the film that it was itself named after, we get a super chill tune that was clearly inspired by Sven's own summer holidays spent on the island of Ibiza, which throughout the 80s had developed itself into the undisputed party capital of the world šŸ˜Œ. This full version of the song is an early trance classic and it's currently sitting at over 115,000 plays on Spotify.
Another VƤth tune that I added, though, is Metal Master's "Spectrum," which can be found on Harthouse's second-ever release, Vol. 1. VƤth made this song with another one of the label's co-founders, Matthias Hoffmann, and true to the duo's name, it seems to incorporate slow, distorted, and majestic metal guitar into its production in order to form its own excellent lead melody šŸ¤˜. And this track, which is sitting at over 63,000 plays on Spotify, is another trance classic, but it is much less chill than "My Name Is Barbarella."
In addition to those couple tracks, I also added a few tunes from one of Harthouse's earliest signings, Hardfloor, a duo from Cologne who would soon become known as the master manipulators of the Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer, the machine that yields electronic dance music's famous acid squelch sound, which originated with mid-80s Chicago's own acid house scene. Hardfloor would go on to become far more known for their techno and tech-house exploits, but they also made trance tunes too, and in March of 1993, they released "Trancescript," soon followed by their debut album, TB Resuscitation, which had both "Trancescript" and another banger on it called "Into the Nature." And then in October of that same year, their popular remix of Robert Armani's "Circus Bells" would appear on a 12-inch that was put out on Dutch label Djax-Up-Beats. "Trancescript" has over 172,000 plays, "Into the Nature" has over 68,000, and that "Circus Bells" remix has over 407,000.
And to close out things on the Spotify side, I added a solo tune from Ralf Hildenbeutel as well, "Hypnoticharmony (Part II)," which he released in 1993 under the name of Progressive Attack. This deep, underappreciated stunner is the one add this week that truly feels most like a blueprint for what would become trance's future. Like, it kind of feels unbelievable that it's actually from 1993, when its vibe could fit on plenty of late 90s trance mixes. And it's the most obscure Spotify add of the week too, as it's currently only sitting at a little over 1,000 plays šŸ˜². Soak it in!
Barbarella - "My Name Is Barbarella" Metal Master - "Spectrum" Hardfloor - "Trancescript" Hardfloor - "Into the Nature" Robert Armani - "Circus Bells (Remixed by Hardfloor)" Progressive Attack - "Hypnoticharmony (Part II)"
But folks, we're not done yet, because there are a couple tunes that I added to the YouTube version of this playlist too, which can't be found on Spotify at all. One of them comes courtesy of Stuttgart, Germany's Marco Zaffarano, who released a song called "For My Love" in 1993 on a Harthouse 12-inch called Minimalism Vol. IV. This song magnificently contrasts and pairs heavenly strings and other synth work with much deeper, ravey, pulsating, acid-addled stabs, and across its bunch of YouTube uploads, it currently has over 38,000 plays.
And the other YouTube add comes from Rotterdam's incredible Speedy J, who isn't really known for being a trance musician, but in '95, came through on Harthouse with an 11-minute track called "Fusion Live." And despite Speedy being a pretty well-known electronic musician, this tremendously constructed song of his only has a little over 900 YouTube plays.
Marco Zaffarano - "For My Love" Speedy J - "Fusion Live"
And this playlist is also on YouTube Music as well.
So with this latest update, the Spotify version of this playlist is now at 19 songs with a total runtime of 2 hours and 36 minutes, but over on YouTube and YouTube Music, we have 25 songs that clock in at nearly 3 hours. So if you want the playlist that has a handful of more and rare goodies on it, check out the YouTube one!
Glad to get an important dose of history onto this thing. Next week we'll dip back into more Harthouse tunes, but we'll be turning our attention to a specific subgenre of trance that the label also happened to pioneer: hard trance.
Enjoy!
More to come, eventually. Stay tuned!
Like what you hear? Follow me onĀ SpotifyĀ andĀ YouTubeĀ for more cool playlists and uploads!

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 2, Episode 2 Easter Egg and Reference
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Spoilers ahead for Star Trek: Lower Decks, Season 2, Episode 2, ā€œKayshon, His Eyes Openā€
In The Next Generation episode ā€œThe Most Toys,ā€ Kivas Fajo tried to keep Data forever. The idea that someone thought it was okay to ā€œcollectā€ was an oddly self-referential concept for Star Trek even in the 1990s. Just like now, the idea of a Star Trek collectible was a thing hardcore Star Trek fans thought about all the time. But, other than the fact that everyone would actually want to ā€œcollectā€ Data, ā€œThe Most Toysā€ wasnā€™t actually about Star Trek collectibles.Ā
But, the newest Star Trek: Lower Decks episode, kind of is? In ā€œKayshon, His Eyes Open,ā€ the crew of the Cerritos encounters one of those famous collectors, while the crew of the Titan deal with some very familiar transporter clones. Itā€™s almost like this is an episode that is filled with as many Easter eggs on purpose. Hereā€™s everything we caught.
Beta ShiftĀ
When Jet joins the Lower Deckers at the start of the episode, itā€™s implied they are on ā€œBeta Shift.ā€ This seems to check-out with Season 1, in which it was clear that the Cerritos was on a four-shift duty rotation, which included the night shift known as ā€œDelta Shift.ā€ (This idea was first introduced in the TNG episode ā€œChain of Command,ā€ an episode Lower Decks LOVES to reference.)
Sonic ShowersĀ
Although sonic showers are referenced a lot in Star Trek, weā€™ve only seen sonic showers a few times. The first time was in The Motion Picture, and since then weā€™ve only glimpsed the showers. The visual effect for the communal sonic showers here is very similar to TMP, but the idea of communal showering for the lower officers vaguely references the novelization of The Motion Picture, too. If you know, then you know.
Collectors
Again the idea of various ā€œCollectorsā€ in the galaxy references Kivas Fajo and ā€œThe Most Toys.ā€ This is what Freeman means by ā€œthey all tried to collect Data.ā€
Dr. Migleemo
Ā Notably, the Cerritosā€™s counselor, the avian Dr. Migleemo returns in this episode, once again, voiced by Paul. F. Tompkins. Echoing Counselor Troiā€™s non-standard uniform, Migleemo appears to wear whatever he wants while on duty, even sitting on the bridge.
Items Owned By the Collector, Take 1
When the landing party for the Cerritos first boards the ship, just in the first room alone there are a ton of Easter eggs. Getting all of these is gonna be tricky, but weā€™re gonna give it a go. Hereā€™s what you can spot when you pause the first couple of shots in the first room of the Collectorā€™s Ship.
Captain Picard paper mache head from ā€œCaptain Picard Dayā€ (TNG, ā€œThe Pegasusā€)
The Game (TNG, ā€œThe Gameā€)
Baseball Bat and ball (Possible DS9 Sisko reference?)
Giant Unicorn (Possible Blade Runner reference?)
Marty McFlyā€™s Shoes (Back to the Future)
Terran Empire Flag (TOS, ā€œMirror, Mirror)Ā
Khanā€™s Necklace (The Wrath of Khan)
Valiant flight recorder (TOS, ā€œWhere No Man Has Gone Before)
Gold TOS Uniform
Giant Pink Tribble (TAS, ā€œMore Tribbles, More Troubles)
M-113 lifeform (TOS, ā€œThe Man Trap.ā€ Also, this is AT LEAST the third time the Salt Vampire has appeared on Lower Decks. And, having the M-113 lifeform as a collectible not only references ā€œThe Man Trap,ā€ but also, ā€œThe Squire of Gothos,ā€ in which your boy Trelane had an M-113 creature as a museum piece, too!)
Special Shout-Out: Betazoid Gift BoxĀ
First appearing in TNGā€™s ā€œHaven,ā€ this was a talking box that was meant to ā€œbondā€ with the person who got the gift.Ā
The existence of this artifact here is also possible a double reference to two other things: In ā€œHaven,ā€ the face of the Gift Box was played by Armin Shimmerman, more famous later as Quark on DS9. But, on top of that, back in 1994 the Star Trek: The Next Generation Collectible Card Game (published by Decipher Inc.) had a very powerful card based on the Betazoid Gift Box. If you played the game, you know this was a rare and useful card that was wellā€¦very collectible.
Special Shout-Out: Whose trombone is that?
We briefly see a trombone in one of the collectorā€™s cases, which seems like an easy reference to Riker. But, which one? Because this episode also directly references ā€œSecond Chances,ā€ and Will Rikerā€™s duplicate Thomas Riker, itā€™s possible that this is the trombone that Will gave to Thomas at the end of that TNG episode. Briefly, hereā€™s the case for that being Thomas Rikerā€™s trombone: In the DS9 episode ā€œDefiantā€ Thomas Riker tried to steal the Defiant, but was later arrested by Starfleet. Presumably, this would mean all of his stuff would have been confiscated, including his trombone!Ā
Keyshon is a TamarianĀ
Tamarians or ā€œthe Children of Tamaā€ originate in the TNG episode ā€œDarmok.ā€ In case you forgot, Picard cracked the case with this species by learning they spoke exclusively through metaphor and analogy. Mariner mocks this by pointing out all you have to do is listen for ā€œcontext clues.ā€
Riker lovesā€¦Rogue Squadron?
Riker tells Boimler to use ā€œattack pattern delta,ā€ on the Pakled ship. This seems to be a reference to The Empire Strikes Back in which Luke tells the snowspeeders of Rogue Squadron, ā€œAttack pattern delta, go now!ā€Ā
Items Owned By the Collector, Take 2
Hereā€™s another go at seeing how many Easter eggs were jammed into like less than 2-minutes of screentime.
Kataan Probe (TNG, ā€œThe Inner Lightā€)
Vulcan lirpa weapon (TOS, ā€œAmok Time,ā€)
Klingon batā€™leth (TNG, DS9, Voyager et al.)
Andorian dueling weapon (Enterprise, ā€œUnited.ā€)
Shark in a Tank (A reference to the real-life artist Damien Hirst, probably?)
Mars RoverĀ
Kadis-kot game set (Voyager)
ChĆ¢teau Picard wine crate (Picard)
Isomagnetic disintegrator (Worfā€™s bazooka from Insurrection)
Tendi is later holding:
A trident scanner (Scotty loved this thing in TOS)
Andā€¦a Kurlan naiskos (TNG, ā€œThe Chase,ā€ a very big episode for canon!)
Kahlessā€™ fornication helmetĀ
Tendi says that this specific Klingon artifact is clearly something Kahless (the Klingon Jesus) wore whileā€¦well, the name speaks for itself. But which Kahless? Hmmm? The fake clone Kahless from ā€œRightful Heir?ā€ or the real-deal Kahless from the 9th century? The Kahless reference gets doubly meta, because, as youā€™ll see later, Lower Decks eventually references the very first reference in canon to Kahless, too.Ā
Dataā€™s Picasso-esque painting of Spot
Barely visible, just as Mariner and the gang are trying to escape, we see Dataā€™s painting of his cat Spot, first seen in the TNG episode ā€œInheritance,ā€ and later in the background in the movie Generations.
Boimlerā€™s description of the Enterprise-D
Letā€™s combine two scenes here! In two pivotal moments in the episode, Boimler is defending the honor and relative coolness of the TNG adventures on the Enterprise-D, which he just calls ā€œthe D.ā€ Hereā€™s what it seems like heā€™s referencing.
ā€œThey went to other dimensionsā€¦ (This seems to reference the idea that ā€œThe Dā€ did go to another dimension in the episode ā€œWhere No One Has Gone Before.ā€ It also could reference ā€œYesterdayā€™s Enterprise,ā€ but nobody would remember that.)
ā€œThey fought the Borgā€¦ā€ (This references ā€œQ, Who,ā€ ā€œThe Best of Both Worlds,ā€ and ā€œDescent.ā€
ā€œThey insurrected!ā€ (This seems to reference Star Trek: Insurrection, which was not the Enterprise-D, but instead, the Enterprise-E! The Lower Decks writers surely know this. Why doesnā€™t Boimler know this? Maybe the game of telephone in the Federation is a little inaccurate? In LDS Season 1, the news of Dataā€™s brother seemed to travelā€¦very slowly?)
ā€œThey had a regular string quartet.ā€ (This references several TNG episodes, notably ā€œSarek,ā€ and again, ā€œInheritance,ā€)Ā
ā€œRiker was jamming on the tromboneā€ (A ton of TNG, including ā€œThe Next Phase,ā€ ā€œFuture Imperfect,ā€ and of course, ā€œSecond Chances.ā€)
ā€œCatching love diseaseā€ (Probably TNGā€™s ā€œThe Naked Nowā€)
ā€œActing in playsā€ (This mostly references Riker acting in one of Crusherā€™s plays in TNGā€™s ā€œFrame of Mind.ā€)
The remains of Spock Two?
In the spooky skeleton room, we see what appears to be a giant humanoid skeleton wearing a blue TOSā€“era Starfleet uniform. Who is this? The best guess? This is the giant Spock clone from The Animated Series episode ā€œThe Infinite Vulcan.ā€
Excalbian Bones and Abe Lincoln
Toward the end of the episode, the gang is trapped in a diorama that seems to have an alien and a skeleton of Abraham Lincoln. This references the TOS episode ā€œThe Savage Curtainā€ in which the Excalbians produced copies of Lincoln, along with Kahless and Surak. This episode was the first reference in Trek canon to both Kahless and Surak, and so, basically created the backstories of both Vulcan and Klingon cultures through historically inaccurate versions of those people. Funny, right?Ā
Transporter cloneĀ
When Boimler beams the away team out through the distortion field, Riker says ā€œoh, Iā€™ve heard this tune before.ā€ This references the TNG banger ā€œSecond Chances,ā€ in which Rikerā€™s transporter duplicate was discovered on a planet years after the fact. In this sense, Boimlerā€™s transporter clone got off easy. Also, the idea that one of the transporter duplicates makes different decisions that the other also references ā€œSecond Chances,ā€ in which ā€œThomasā€ Riker ends up being a different person than Will. The idea that both canā€™t serve on the Titan anymore might reference the idea that the TNG writing staff considered killing off the ā€œfirstā€ Will Riker, and replacing him with his duplicate. This would have meant Data would have become the first officer in Season 6, and Riker, the operations officer. It didnā€™t happen, but from the point of view of the Titan crew, something like this basically DID just happen.
The Riker leanĀ
While talking to the Mr. Boimlers, Riker puts one foot up on a couch. Classic Riker lean. Classic.Ā
ā€œComputer play Night Birdā€
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Just before Boimler leaves the Ready Room, ā€œWilliam Boimlerā€ and Riker are sharing some Romulan Ale. Riker says ā€œcomputer, play ā€˜Night Bird.ā€™ā€ This also references ā€œSecond Chances,ā€ in which Riker is unable to play the trombone solo for this song, which Troi teases him about endlessly. ā€œNight Birdā€ also appears to be a made-up song. But who knows, maybe William Boimler will be able to master it? Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 2 airs on Paramount+ on Thursdays.

I donā€™t think I told the story of how I even started listening to EDM so here it is to the best of my recollection (itā€™s a long post so if you start it make sure you have time lol):
It mustā€™ve been in 2008 or 2009 that I learned it even existed.Ā  Around that time was my first Batman obsession and this was a time before the Internet was really a significant part of my life.Ā  Because that was the year I saw The Dark Knight and I started listening to Hans Zimmer OSTs, which I had to get on CD from the library and sometimes force my old failing CD player to read because if the disc was damaged it just skipped forever.Ā  And this was a time when I had to record CDs down to cassette tapes (all of which I still have) because after two weeks CDs had to be returned to the library.
The first EDM song I probably ever heard - or at least the first one I remember liking - was ā€˜Heā€™s a Pirateā€™, the Jack Sparrow remix by Tiesto because it was included as the final track on the Curse of the Black Pearl CD.Ā  And this was before the Internet was available to me, remember, so I had no idea what the song was or if it had a genre or any of that.Ā  And I didnā€™t have any way of looking for more of it.Ā  I had maybe a couple of cassettes gotten as a book reading prize from a library discard pile, very old MC Mario compilations, but those tapes were more house/underground mixes and the song the cassette was on when I tried to listen to it was, I believe, ā€˜Higher State of Consciousnessā€˜ by Josh Wink and I was not ready for it yet.Ā  So my only option was to try and find a radio station that played this dance music.Ā  This was before David Guetta brought it into the mainstream, so it was rare to find one.Ā  But I did: Z 103.5 out of Toronto (I lived in Hamilton at the time), which just came in if I positioned the radio dial just so, and on that station I heard Adagio for Strings by Tiesto and Axel F by Street Frog, but that wasnā€™t even the most important part.Ā  The most important part was that this radio station had a professional DJ who did live mixes every day at five pm.Ā  This DJ, DJ Danny D, would mix two compilation CDs every year for the radio station.Ā  And the library had them.Ā  The first one I listened to was Summer Rush 2005, which I borrowed because it had both Adagio for Strings and Axel F on it.Ā  After that was MC Mario.com Version 2.0 with Benni Benassiā€™s Satisfaction and California Dreaminā€™ by DJ Sammy and MC Mario Mixdown 2005 with Sound of San Francisco by Global Deejays and Call on Me by Eric Prydz, and then just any other mix CD the library had that I could borrow (but those two were my favourite ones).Ā
When I was sent off to high school in about 2011 I discovered the Internet, in the days of BeeMP3 and having to find remixes on forums, but I wasnā€™t ready for real DJs.Ā  No, I was looking for Sonic the Hedgehog remixes.Ā  I was obsessed with them.Ā  I was burning them on CD to play in my SUV.Ā  I am not kidding.Ā  YouTube downloading wasnā€™t a thing yet, or at least I barely knew of YouTubeā€™s existence.Ā  There was someone on the Internet called ImmortalImage who had folders of HUNDREDS of dance music songs, which they would post on YouTube in the interest of preservation (though they removed the channel after they posted one thousand songs or something like that) and I downloaded those folders without knowing a single artist in them.Ā  They were called ā€˜Greatest Electronic Music of All Timeā€™ and some of it truly is the greatest music ever made.
Now, Indy, you might be wondering, where does ARMIN come into all this?Ā  The answer is: eventually.
I didnā€™t have a phone that could get on the Internet using wifi, not that it was widely available.Ā  I was at Tim Hortons when they first introduced wifi freely available at all their locations, but the only device I had was my PSP and it got stuck on the landing page and never got me through to the Internet.Ā  I got a laptop shortly after, but what really took me to the next step was when I bought an iPod Touch after I accidentally left my iPod Nano on a bus somewhere in Kanata.Ā  iPods had podcasts, and there was a DJ with a podcast by the name of Hardwell who was becoming very popular.Ā  He had a couple friends, Dannic and Dyro, who I liked by association, and I was at work with my laptop when I watched the stream where Hardwell was crowned no.1 DJ in the world during the DJ Mag Top 100.Ā  Hardwell did a mix after the show and this led me to the discovery of EDM festivals.
The first year I heard about Escapade here in Ottawa, it was still in a parking lot and Tiesto was playing but he was the only DJ I knew so I didnā€™t want to go just for one guy.Ā  The next year, though, Dannic was playing and I only lasted about three hours before going home very tired and very sunburned.Ā  It was an experience I wasnā€™t sure I wanted to repeat.Ā  But then I ended up on YouTube, on ASOT 600 in Miami.Ā  It was the BEST thing I had EVER heard in my entire life.Ā  Everything else just SUCKED compared to that set.Ā  And the festival was magic.Ā  You could just see that it was magic by watching it.Ā  I didnā€™t listen to ASOT, not yet; it was only on Spotify and Spotify wasnā€™t available in Canada, and even when it was I wasnā€™t inclined to use a website just for one thing.Ā  But the sets on YouTube?Ā  Magic.
And the next Escapade, in 2015, which I had bought a presale ticket for, sent out an email and IIRC it was right around Christmas.Ā  And I was upstairs at work and I was about to go home and when I read it I gasped out loud and sat down on the floor.Ā  Because Armin was headlining the festival, and so was Knife Party, and I had never ever in a million years thought Armin would come to Ottawa because the clubs in Toronto and Montreal were so much better.
The weather was lousy, as it tends to be for Escapade, but it was my mission in life to be in the front row for the entire festival, not so I would be in the pictures (which I was) but so I could see the stage.Ā  The first day I was off to the left side somewhere, but the SECOND day.Ā  The SECOND day I was right in the corner of the L-shaped gate, front and centre and nobody could push me out of the row no matter how hard they tried, and I was there for the entire twelve hours of the festival and it rained half the day and some drunk French guy dumped his beer on my head and tried to blame it on me but when W&W came on it didnā€™t MATTER.Ā  And when they were finished Armin came on, and it was actually a RELIEF because there had been a rumour that he wasnā€™t going to show up because it was raining and he KNEW about it and he made fun of it, and you know what they had on the second day?Ā  They had LASERS!Ā  Even though we were near to the airport they had horizontal green lasers and even the security guards were trying to touch them and they looked like they were glittering because of the misty rain.
He played for two of the best hours of my life.Ā  He has a song he made with a Canadian singer and when he played that song he held up the Canadian flag for us and thatā€™s how I knew we really MEANT something to him.Ā  And this was one of the last festivals he wore the Myo armbands for and he was directing the spotlights during Adagio for Strings and he asked if we wanted to hear the story of how he fell in love with trance and it was like everything I had ever wanted had happened all in one hundred twenty minutes and if I had had to lay down my life afterward as payment I would have done so happily.Ā  And when I got home I knew I needed to go to an American festival.Ā  Tomorrowland was too far so it had to be American.Ā  It was between Ultra Miami and EDC Las Vegas and EDC won out because there was just something about a festival that existed only to light up the night and then fade when the sun rose that was magical.Ā  And my first EDC, it was magic.Ā  Everything was perfect.Ā  I got on the livestream for Gaia during my favourite song, how can I EVER top that?Ā  I canā€™t!Ā  It was the most beautiful place on earth and in some ways, it always will be.Ā  Even last year, which was by all accounts a horrible disaster, I still came away from it with a kandi bracelet and the memory of a time when people were willing to help me when I was completely unable to help myself.
And this year I have EDC in two months and Armin is returning to Ottawa, and I donā€™t know what theyā€™ll bring.Ā  But it will be something special.Ā  It always is.Ā  I just have to let it happen.

Spider-Man Homecoming Review
Well so Iā€™m done with the shower. I mean I really wanna talk about this. Also gonna get Google up so I can look at the Wikipedia page for the movie. Mainly so I can spell the actors names right.
Alright got that just so Iā€™m not gonna reveal any spoilers but I wanna mention parts yetā€¦Iā€™ll talk about them just in a way. Including this is my first viewing. I wanna try to see the movie a 2nd time cause I see a Spider-Man movie 2 times. The only one I havenā€™t seen in theaters was Spider-Man 2 I was young and some shit man. Including I can get a bit more of a understanding.
Yet the first time just seeing the film and studying it.
The last post and this is my intro for this. This is maybe my favorite Spider-Man film. This is just a personal opinion yet okay it depends its been a long time since seeing the first and second Sam Rami film.
Yet also just as a film I liked this a shit ton, this is also maybe my favorite MCU film I think yetā€¦this is my first time I just seem so hyped up or excited just happy even if Iā€™m not smiling also wearing my just kill it shirt like my last review no it doesnā€™t suck oh head.
Sorry I need to mention. Iā€™m a Spider-Man fanboy. Whether thatā€™s good or bad. I wanna talk about my experience with the whole thing of Spider-Man being in the MCU now also some short thoughts on the MCU.
Random thing gonna say saw the Black Panther trailer and Justice League trailer those were awesome seeing those on screen and that trailer fully of that Jumgji however you spell it a movie Sony is remaking or some shit I donā€™t know.
Yet really the whole what I call the I dub the Month Of Spider-Man cause of the Sony hack in December 2014. I was one of the many people who wanted Spider-Man to be in the MCU and when the announcement was up also the weeks leading up to it the Spidey Summit Iā€™m amazed and some what stupid I thought it was gonna be something like the Marvel Phase 3 announcement even Armin from Comicbookcast2 joked about people thinking that. The announcement was unbelievable I couldnā€™t believe it. Along with seeing Peter Parker and also Spider-Man appearing in a MCU film was one of justā€¦the best theater moments of my life man. Because I was so happy I was smiling and my Nana even saw me smiling. Including remembering my excitement from last year. To me this is as big as Batman and Superman being on the big screen together for the first time. Or the idea of a Sonic film in theaters.
Now about the MCU listen I know on Tumblr and other places, it doesnā€™t always have fans. The MCU isnā€™t perfect I agree. Yet to me personally I am amazed and grateful for just how this cinematic universe is working and Marvel Studios taking risks with trying to make movies of characters that arenā€™t known much. Including of how they started this universe. Listen I know Kevin Fiege isnā€™t the only guy. Yet I respect what this guy has done in fact it gave ideas and inspired other studios to do the same. The DCEU by Warner Bros, Legendaryā€™s Monsterverse, and even Universalā€™s Dark Universe even if that had a rough start.
Listen I understand what problems people have. Even just what Jeremy Jahns said in his review of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 not all of them can be gold he said that some what. Yet Iā€™m gonna say some bullshit yet I hope you agree.
Be grateful we arenā€™t getting pieces of shit like that God damn Fan4stic however people go with it, a film I really donā€™t wanna see. Or even those God damn Bayformers films by Michael Bay and Iā€™m glad that film is not making much money now I havenā€™t seen the 5th and donā€™t want to. Why the fuck isnā€™t Tumblr attacking those God damn Transformers films no offense orā€¦..fuck those films man. Even Zack Snyder and Warner Bros DCEU is better then that crap even if the Bumblebee movie sounds interesting. Iā€™m saying that cause I like the DCEU despite some problems.
Sorry wanted to get that out of the way.
I should talk about this movie also itā€™s a review man. Just put the title just saying I became a fan of the MCU cause of Guardians Of The Galaxy and I was like what the fuck almost put tags ha. Yet also that film and I was in some sort of depression shit cause Transformers 4 broke me. I havenā€™t seen The Avengers or Thor The Dark World but yeah seen most of them man haā€¦also Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 havenā€™t seen it yet cause late night man haā€¦
Spider-Man Homecoming.
So got done with the introā€¦Iā€™ll talk about that Spider-Man Dawn Of Avengers shit later man.
Iā€™m gonna say this, one of I think my favorite version of Spider-Man is the Spectacular Spider-Man TV show. Itā€™s such a great TV show and how it handles Spider-Man. I still love it after all these years. Just the way they handle Spider-Man and the characters as a compliment to me that series is like the Batman The Animated Series of Spider-Man cartoons. Iā€™m talking about the 90ā€™s Batman cartoon that people say mainly Nostalgia Critic Doug Walker says is the greatest cartoon of all time and people say their favorite version of Batman is that version.
My favorite version of Spider-Man is the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon seriously man.
What I saw in this movie. It was maybe I feelā€¦this is another one of my favorites
Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Spider-Man I freakin adore him. I might feel a bit weird saying yeah this is basically the live action version of Josh Keaton as Spider-Man who voiced Spider-Man in that cartoon. Or just heā€™s as great as Josh Keaton with the work he was given.
Itā€™s kind of like the same case people adore Kevin Conroy as Batman and Ben Affleck as one.
Also whatā€™s good this is Spider-Manā€™s own film itā€™s not a small part. Which makes it better and Iā€™m talking about his part in Captain America Civil War which they introduced him very well and just itā€™s great man.
What I like about Tom Holland just heā€™s great as Josh and some others even Toby Maguire from the Sam Rami films. Also Andrew Garfield was good. Yet over time Iā€™ve thought to myself about The Amazing Spider-Man films the 2012 and 2014 films. Honestly I donā€™t mind Andrew honestly. Yet some problems I had like he looked too old to be in high school but mainly Sony messing those films up. Listen Sony wanted to keep the rights. While the first film was okay over time it feels kind of lifeless as times Iā€™m sorry to say. Then with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 what Sony did even if I saw that film twice. That is my least favorite Spider-Man film. Their was cool stuff in it. But itā€™s one of the first their might be others before it butā€¦itā€™s now one of the first ever since The Avengers was released Studios wanting to make cinematic universes. That film was so much of set up and other shit. Including controlling Marc Webb and Andrew it makes me sad. Along with Andrew was even upset. In a way Sony kind of destroyed Andrewā€™s of really being Spider-Man and including Andrew is really passionate about the character such as Tom Holland is. Itā€™s honestly a sad case andā€¦the Fan4stic case is worse when you think about it if you wanna look up stuff. Mainly Midnightā€™s Edge yes random advertising lol man stop oh head.
Yet back to the movie. Tom Holland is great. Heā€™s both great as Peter Parker and Spider-Man he nails both parts. Including just can I say even before this Iā€™m gonna say it theirs these Civil War videos released where Peter is recording events thatā€™s there also just Tom Holland Iā€™ve thought this and I think even said it. Heā€™s adorable seriously he isā€¦heā€™s one year older then me. He nails those comedic parts and even serious parts.
But okay itā€™s still about Tom Holland. I wanna talk about the themes or mainly the story. Listen I understand mainly on Tumblr and YouTube people are worried of Iron Man being in this film. Iā€™m gonna confirm this heā€™s not in there much. Unless he needs to be. Including they use him well and I know Tony Stark can be a douchebag but what the film does.
What the story is basically and I know some or a lot of people are tired of Peter being in high school. Yet the way the story goes is like Jeremy Jahns says its like an coming of age story or something. I donā€™t wanna spoil much yet the story is basically Peter really wanting to show he can handle stuff on his own. He seriously wants to show others like Happy and Tony that heā€™s ready. Yet as the film goes he realizes some stuff. Including when facing the main villain and other events. I think the best way to say him learning how to mature more and that he doesnā€™t need to be at the top yet okay I donā€™t wanna spoil cause I feel you guys need to see this movie.
Because this movie is basically in a way Peter becoming more of a man. Just itā€™s told in a way Iā€™m gonna reveal this itā€™s mostly a comedy seriously. Yet when the serious moments show up I adore them. Because it takes it time justā€¦I love it man.
It seriously has very serious moments. Iā€™m gonna say at some times even one I wanted to cry seriously I want to cry at certain moments cause of great character development. Including Iā€™m such a huge fan of the character. The way they approch Spider-Man in this movie. Theirs even some sweet moments and even one scene not gonna spoil but Peter is by himself itā€™s I think during the movie yetā€¦okay some what of a spoiler.
Heā€™s talking to his suit. Also his new suit is by Tony Stark and when you see it youā€™ll know what I mean man.
Including I understand people just want a adult Peter now. Yet the way justā€¦and the whole, ā€œHarry Potterā€ thing where we see him grow up and people even mention To Story not Tony ha with Andyā€¦Tony Story ha manā€¦not Anthony.
It makes the film more rewarding and the idea that Spider-Man is gonna be Avengers Infinity War, Avengers 4, and a Spider-Man Homecoming sequel. In the next two years. Itā€™s beautiful man thatā€™s kick ass cause we have more Spider-Man to me Iā€™m sorry this is a dream come true. So what I heard from Collidervideos the Homecoming sequel being two months after Avengers 4 holy shit dude ha. So 2018 and 2019 lolā€¦..I wanted to well did make a post about this but was embarrassed it was from last week. When I was gonna get picked up by my friend. This video by Emergency Awesome man ha. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FAdBym7-IPQ
Okay checked the comments in case it was the same video and got back to Wikipedia.
Now letā€™s talks about Michael Keaton aka the God damn 89 Batman also From Batman Returns ha. So he was another one of my favorite parts.
Yet also heā€™s maybe one of my favorite Spider-Man villains we have seen in a Spider-Man movie. Along with the Green Goblin from the 2002 film and also Doc Ock from the 2004 film almost left Doc Ockā€™s actors. Also I donā€™t care what people say about Green Goblinā€™s look in the 2002 film he was one of my favorites how that role was handled.
But the way Michael Keaton is handled also even if before this he was rumored to be Norman Osborne but now heā€™s the Vulture. Iā€™m gonna be honest again heā€™s one of my favorite parts.
He was menacing when he needed to be. Including you understand what he was doing.
I donā€™t wanna spoil it yet itā€™s also part of the story think it yeah relates to Peterā€™s story as well. The idea of how people have to deal with what happened after the Avengers. How they have to clean up their messes and I havenā€™t seen the Netflix shows. Yet I heard this from Comicbookcast2 that the Netflix characters hate the Avengers is that right. Or is that just, basically just how he hates how the Avengers donā€™t have time for them, and they have to deal with the shit they leave behind despite them saving them.
Including I know a lot of Spider-Manā€™s arenā€™t that personal to him except ones like Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom, Lizard, and maybe Hobgoblin. Iā€™m not the biggest fan of the Vulture yet the way heā€™s portrayed is just very well done. Heā€™s a damn good villain. Also heā€™s a person.
In fact some of my favorite scenes just it surprised me this scene I donā€™t wanna spoil it but this film has a lot of surprises. Yet theirs a scene with Spider-Man and Vultureā€¦itā€™s just great or good whatever. I feel like itā€™s something I would come up with. Because itā€™s honestly clever actually Iā€™m being serious. Youā€™ll see it, just with not spoiling it, a scene with Tom Holland and Michael Keaton said that. Itā€™s like a what the fuck moment and even as it went Iā€™m thinking oh my God is it gonna get to that moment ha man.
Sorry yet I should talk about the other characters.
Let me say I love this cast almost left casting seriously this whole cast I love it a shit ton man. The character of Ned played by let me check his name, Jacob Batalon checked twice. This is maybe one of my favorite additions to this film. That also heā€™s Peterā€™s best friend and itā€™s not Harry Osborne ha seriously they are taking new routes to make themselves different. Also lots of diversity if you love that and I love that too a shit ton man ha seriously not kidding oh head.
But Ned just how him and Peter interact heā€™s like a comic relief yet heā€™s just very cool. Honestly how he and Peter interact I donā€™t know why. Heā€™s just very likable and honestly funny. Iā€™m gonna be professional but just he felt like a very nice addition.
Then we have let me check. Tony Revolori checked three times or some shit he plays Flash the bully who becomes Agent Venom when heā€™s adult great story shit kick ass dude. I was surprised by the rumored casting long ago. Yet the way they portray him. To be honest I thought this I donā€™t know whoā€™s more of a douche Flash from The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon or this Flash. But what makes him unquie heā€™s not a typical bully heā€™s like and well found out from Amazing Spider-Manā€™s channel a bully who is mainly verbal by saying certain stuff. He plays a excellent douche ha I said that man meh itā€™s normal to smile. Seriously I mean I some what have nothing against him hey maybe have him as Venomā€¦as much as I like Eddie Brock as Venomā€¦also the I donā€™t trust Sony yet this bullshit of the Venom film being in the what Amy Pascal said in the same, ā€œrealityā€ what the fuck man, and Tom Hardy as Venomā€¦
I donā€™t trust Sony after what happened with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 even if I was okay with Venom in Spider-Man 3ā€¦that could be betterā€¦I still like the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon version of Venomā€¦it really says something about a cartoon from 2008 through 2009 where it still leaves an impact on your mind and how those versions stay with you cause they were so well doneā€¦had to put I behind s in versions ha manā€¦kick assā€¦haā€¦
Okay sorry yeah normal to smile, now Liz Allen yeah sheā€™s in the film. Just gonna say no Zendaya is not that character checked that name twice ha sorry orā€¦yeah twice man.
Sheā€™s played by Laura Harrier checked again so two times. What I noticed in this short for the new Spider-Man cartoon so spoiler Liz Allen is in the short. I was seriously thinking are they gonna use Liz Allen as a new love interest. Iā€™m not against that as all almost left well ha manā€¦
Yet the only well mostly one version of her I know her so much is from Spectacular Spider-Man the cartoon again mentioning that. Where she was Latino wanna mention to people who like diversity and she was very good in that.
So Iā€™m not against having Liz being more important in some Spider-Man movies. In a way she is like Peterā€™s love interest yet well she is important yet not a whole bunch. Including thatā€™s not the focus of the movie. But she was great and very likable. So even before the movie found out on Wikipedia sheā€™s a Senior Iā€™ll warn you. Well maybe when Peter gets older I donā€™t mind if they wanna have well Peter and Liz. Okay sheā€™s not as big as Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy thatā€™s what from I know. Itā€™s very nice and I donā€™t mind it.
Now we have Zendaya as wellā€¦Michelle Iā€™m not spoiling it she was nice. Also likableā€¦not a huge part and just saying Iā€™ve seen comments spoil like who she is even before the movie I wanted to be surprised I didnā€™t know what to believe seen a thumbnail of one scene towards the end and mentions of the end credits scene.
Yet she was cool I liked her.
Marsai Tomai checked three times sheā€™s Aunt May, sheā€™s good too, not in it a whole bunch. Yet sheā€™s very good and just likable all the cast is God damn likable. Wellā€¦except Vultureā€™s helpersā€¦orā€¦well their supposed to be criminals but they do a damn good job too man.
Jon Favreau checked four times or some shit Harold Happy Hogan yes the director of Iron Man 1 and 2. He did a good job too important a bitā€¦well heā€™s seen a bit more.
Also Donald Glover almost left Glober twice ha stop it. Iā€™m not spoiling who he is yet even from well thumbnails from Comicbookcast2 and Hybrid Network he did good too. Important a bit.
Seriously I wanna talk about other stuff.
The action is very good. Including just how I mean the way they are handled along with the Spider-Man vs Vulture scenes. Just also all of Spider-Manā€™s scenes I loved them a shit ton. Including at times it felt tense seriously it did man. The scene in Washington DC and the part with the Ferri those are all great.
Even the score was good likeā€¦well I canā€™t remember much haha sorry yetā€¦it did good.
Really I feelā€¦theirs more to talk about. Yet I am just very impressed with this film. Also during the film well before the film switched seats with someone he for h 7 but well his family was there or some shit. Yet I decided to be in c 16. It was close to the screen and to the left yet I still had a good time ha manā€¦
Just I did remember yeah had some post credits scene spoiled yet it wasnā€™t much and not like a thumbnail I saw.
Yet the end credits sceneā€¦I donā€™t wanna spoil it. But the way just itā€™s funny and they said well didnā€™t see the video Comicbookcast2 multiple post credits scene their spoiler only two man ha. Yet the end oneā€¦..is unbelievable yet funny that the audience laughed too a shit ton well they laughed cause the way itā€™s portrayed.
I donā€™t wanna spoil it but the best comparison is the Deadpool end credits scene if youā€™ve seen it. Butā€¦itā€™s normal to smile because I canā€™t believe that was the end credits scene is unbelievable man. Okay not kick ass butā€¦I loved it man put that again.
Okay I talked about the film a shit tonā€¦just I loved this film. This is maybe my favorite Spider-Man film gonna think a bit. Yet also my favorite MCU film along with Captain America Civil War, Guardians Of The Galaxy the original, and also maybe Captain America The Winter Soldier. Along with maybe Avengers Age Of Ultron. Hey I thought the film was kick ass I saw it twice.
Now next we have Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers Infinity War, also Ant Man And The Wasp so kick ass dude ha man.
Also that first part aboutā€¦really I find it kind of beautiful that Marvel had got the rights well their sharing it with Sony. Yet the way Marvel Studios, Kevin Fiege, Russo Bros, Jon Watts director of this film and other people how they introduced Spider-Man in this universe is almost beautiful.
Because I canā€™t imagine well maybe but I want to keep seeing Tom Holland as Spider-Man cause I feel he is Spider-Man.
That Spider-Man Dawn Of Avengers shitā€¦.. itā€™s weird funny idea imagine if the Marvel Cinematic Universe went kind of the DC route yet they have some films but what I said in my Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice Ultimate Edition review almost put MCU normal to smile man kick assā€¦
Who the fuck is gonna be our Doomsdayā€¦.. Ultimate Green Goblin is cool but can he take on Captain Marvel or can she take him out easily and kick his ass lolā€¦justā€¦Iā€™m glad we get to see this Spider-Man grow. Seeing the film made me rethink some stuff man. Put a tag almost left rag instead of tag ha normal to smile orā€¦need to eat my McDonaldā€™s
