You’ve been twiddling your fingers and pacing the floor for the past hour or so, waiting for your husband to arrive home. You held the pregnancy test in one hand a damp tissue in the other, unable to predict the excited and happy tears flowing down every time you looked at the results.

You and Ushijima had been talking about starting a family together even before you were married. He wanted a child at a young age, young enough that he can still move around and teach them volleyball. You were not opposed to having a child so soon after marriage at all. Let’s just say you both did a lot of work during your honeymoon, and it paid off!

You heard the door click open and you turned to see your handsome husband kick off his shoes. He looked at your blushing, teary-eyed face and stopped immediately.

“What did you do…?” he asked suspiciously.

“Why do you think I did something!?”

“You’re not good at hiding your emotions.”

“I beg to differ!”

“What’s in your hand? Did you break something again?”

“No, you dumbass!” you laughed. You shoved the test in his face, hands shaking with excitement. “I’m pregnant…!”

You watch Ushijima’s suspicious gaze change to wide-eyed wonderment and melt to a warm smile in less than a minute. He pulled you close with one strong arm and kissed your forehead lovingly.

“I’m happy.”

“Eh? That’s it!?”

“I figured you were this morning when I heard you throwing up in the bathroom.”

“A-Ah, you heard that…?”

“It was hard not to hear.”

“I can never surprise you.”

You felt his warm breath tickle you when he chuckled into your hair, leaving small kisses all over. You felt your cheeks heat up, not used to Ushijima being so affectionate right after work.

“You can surprise me when we find out if they’re a boy or a girl.”

“How about, ‘surprise, Tendou’s the godfather!’”

“I want a divorce.”

“Even when you try to joke around, it’s too harsh!” you cried, clutching your heart dramatically.

“Wakatoshiiii ~” you whined, sprawled on the couch.

“Hm,” he called in the kitchen.

“Do we have chocolate covered potato chips? Or-or durian cake?”

“You know durian isn’t allowed in the city, it’s disgusting. And what was the first one?”

“You’ve never had chocolate covered potato chips!? Rich Americans eat them all the time!”

You could feel his cold glare even when you weren’t looking at him. He sighed, stepping away from the dishes and peaked over the couch. You were so cute slouching around, rubbing your small bump. He would do anything for the both of you, even the impossible.

“Ok.”

“Hm?” You asked, looking up at him with the wide eyes he fell in love with.

“I’ll run to the grocery store really quick.”

“I don’t think they sell them there….”

“I’ll make them.”

“…. You know I love you, right?”

Ushijima chuckled, kissing the top of your head. Ever since you told him you were pregnant, you notice him doing that a lot more often and every time you were on the brink of tears. It was probably your uncontrollable mood swings, but your heart couldn’t contain itself each time.

He tucked a loose strand behind your ears. “I love you, too.”

“WAKATOSHIIII !” you screamed.

Ushijima ran to the living room from where he was, thinking maybe you fell or got hurt. When he saw your small form in a fetal position on the floor, he sighed, walking over and squatting next to you.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

“I’m dying ~!”

“No, you’re not.”

“Why does it feel like I am!?”

“You’re probably cramping.”

“I WANNA DIE INSTEAD.”

Ushijima rolled his eyes before picking you up effortlessly. He held you bridal style and carried you to the bedroom. After tucking you in, he ran out to get a few supplies that might lessen your screaming.

“Eat this banana,” he said, shoving a banana in your face.

“What!?”

“Whenever I get cramps after training, I always ate bananas and they helped.”

“I don’t think this is the same thing, Toshi!!”

“How about, um, a hot pack?”

“Better. Gimme.”

You pressed the hot pack to your abdomen and sighed at its warming comfort. It reminded you of Ushijimas hugs early into your relationship. You were so much smaller than him that his hugs felt hot and suffocating, but you wouldn’t have them any other way.

Ushijima used a cold towel to wipe the sweat off of your face. “Feel better?”

You sighed happily, closing your eyes. “Much better. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

“I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

“Wakatoshi…!!!” you cried.

Ushijima took five seconds to mentally prepare himself for whatever you were going to say or complain about. Were you gonna cry? Laugh? Punch him in the face? Who knows, but he’s ready.

He walked into the bedroom looking at you trying on your favorite dress in front of the mirror. It was unzipped in the back due to the baby bulge. He saw your tear-stained face and walked over to you and wrapped his arms around the baby bump.

“Yes?” he asked.

“I’m fat.”

“Yes.”

“So you agree?”

“Yes.”

“You’re a terrible husband.”

“I don’t want to lie to you.”

More tears fell and you buried your face in your hands. You hated whenever Ushijima saw you cry because you swore you were the ugliest crier, with snot dripping and face all flushed. Truth be told, he actually thought it was kind of cute, but he would never want you to cry ever. He tightened his grip around your waist and laid his chin on your shoulder.

“You’re still so beautiful,” he whispered.

Surprisingly, Ushijima complimented you often. Every morning, before heading off to work, he’d tell you how beautiful you looked. To others, the more you say a compliment, the more the meaning of it diminishes, but to you, every compliment from Ushijima felt like the first. He always knew just what to say to make you feel better.

“I love you,” you sniffled.

“I love you, too.”

“Welcome, Mr. and Mrs. Ushijima!” the doctor greeted. “Let’s get ready for the ultrasound, shall we?”

You laid on the bed as the doctor prepped your belly with the cold gel. Your hands were shaking with excitement and nervousness. Ushijima grabbed them quickly, as if reading your mind. His thumb stroked the back of your hand lovingly and you felt so at ease.

You and Ushijima looked at the screen trying to decipher the blurry image of your baby. All you really saw was a blob that might be your baby? Neither of you could tell. How the doctors identified the gender was a mystery.

“Are you two ready to know the gender of your baby?”

You both nodded silently, unable to speak.

“Congratulations on having a baby girl!”

“WHAT?” you screeched.

“I-Is there a problem….?” the doctor asked.

“She lost the bet,” Ushijima said. “She owes me $20.”

“I hate you.”

“I love you, too.”

He would act bothered at the fact you’re sick, cause of course you’re gonna ask your boyfriend for things - like any notes you might’ve missed that day. But judging how he just does your homework for you you’re pretty sure he’s not actually mad.

He’d also be bugging you about taking your medicine cause he needs you to get better fast so he isn’t “stuck bullying only Hinata”, he misses picking on you too and he says it’s funner in person

He’s kind of worried about getting sick himself so he wouldn’t see you in person much but you definitely notice how frequent he’s starting to call you, he even FaceTimed you while he was at the grocery store cause you weren’t there with him to pick out your snacks. (He knows your favs at this point, he just missed your company)

The moment you’re better and he has a chance to see you he’s a bit more physically affectionate than normal - not that either of you are complaining - he missed you very much :(

Daichi

His hearts in the right place - like he’s brought some cough drops and water and such and has this whole plan for you to get better but the moment you sneeze a little too hard he’s so :((((( and just wants to hold you and coddle you.

So he does exactly that.

It can be a bit overbearing at first cause he’s VERY adamant on you not doing thing, like he’s debating on whether or not you should even be allowed to walk to the bathroom and if he should be carrying you there instead.

Rather than catch you up on anything you missed (he’ll bother suga about it later) he’d prefers snuggling in and napping the day away with you and just hopes you’ll magically get better.

Hinata

The overly worried type who’s also somehow simultaneously oblivious.

He’s CONSTANTLY checking in like are you better yet? Can you stand? Have you been throwing up all day? Is your temp still too high?? Please call me if you need anything :((((

But then he comes over with his volleyball and is all raring to go on some walk with you cause he found this awesome little trail that has some cute clearing he thinks you’d love but he seems to have forgotten you’re kind of currently bedridden.

You tell him and almost feel bad cause you can see the disappointment on his face and the way his body kind of deflates, but then all of a sudden he’s cheering back up cause he realizes that means he gets to lay with you basically all day and love up on you (regardless of your protests telling him he’d get sick too - which he definitely does)

Sugawara

I hope you wanted some tough love :(

Don’t get me wrong, he’s all about taking care of his baby but don’t think you’re gonna be milking any extra pity out of him 😭

He’s bringing you all the right medicine and extra love and any snacks you need, but he’s also bringing any schoolwork you might be missing and he’s reminding you of those deadlines.

He makes up for it with the extra study guides he made you so you can understand the material easier, and the cute little drawings he puts in the margins to better explain the material

He feels awful for his sick baby but isn’t gonna let you fall behind <3

Noya

Really believes in the whole laughter is the best medicine type shit. He’d also be looking up all different kinds of ways to make you better if he felt like you weren’t having a speedy recovery AHSJSJAJS

“I don’t know babe I’m jus sayin, this here says that if you drink raw egg whites and vinegar it’s a good immune system boost and will cure your flu in, like, 15 minutes. It might be worth a shot!”

Baby boy just misses going on dates with you 😭

Also tends to go overboard sometimes with the movies - last time you were sick he brought a whole cardboard box full of random dvds he had lying around as well as a couple of home videos of him as a child ‘cause:

Aran

Literally one of the best boyfriends you could ask for in this situation are you joking? He never hovers too much but is always just a phone call away if you need some help or are just feeling too lonely :( KING of making soups are you joking (firm believer that warm foods are the best thing when you’re ill) he definitely texts you random things throughout the day like

“how’s my baby doing?”

Or

“u feeling ok enough for me to stop by later ?❤️”

Expect LOTS of forehead kisses too

Also tends to hold the back of his hands to your face a lot so he can check your temp throughout the day, a true caregiver :,(

Kita

Ok him and Aran are tied cause this man 😪

The moment he finds out you’re sick he’s gotta know what kind of bug you caught cause he will be bringing you medicine the moment he can and he needs to be sure he’s getting the right kind. Also the type to buy you some silly little card that his grandmother INSISTED on signing (she’s very worried about you) and who is he to say no to that.

He also would hate to admit this to you but he thinks you’re so cute when you’re sick 😭 it doesn’t matter if you’re hacking up yesterday’s lunch he’s like 🥺🤲🏼 my poor little baby

He also just really likes taking care of you, definitely fits into his love language and it just feels very domestic for him to be by your side and aiding you in any way you can, and this mf is the biggest fan of the domestic things in your relationship <3

Bokuto

Honestly a little excited cause he gets to spend some uninterrupted alone time with you

Like don’t get me wrong he’s sad your sick but he can’t help but think to himself omg I get to spend the whole day with my baby! Just me and them!

Really helpful though, like you almost forget you’re sick. He’s making you food if you can’t do it yourself and he’s making sure you’re taking your medicine at the right times all while just chilling and talking with you in between! You guys watch some awful movies and laugh at them and it almost feels like a good ol date night in with your boyfriend if your body wasn’t so fatigued and sore from being sick. But don’t worry, cause Bokuto is there and ready to rub those sore muscles at any given moment.

Kenma

He just kind of shows up? Unannounced?

He has a weeks worth of stuff packed as well as a game console and a sack full of games LMAO and he just sets them down and gives you a kiss on the forehead and just ,, starts,, unpacking. You have to ask him what he’s doing cause he’s just not saying anything.

“You’re sick, so I’m staying over to take care of you until you feel better, duh. Now which side of the bed do you prefer?”

This man is casually waiting on your every need like your thirsty? Lay tf down he’s getting it for you. Hungry? Funny, he already ordered in. You’re his mf princess and you’re sick so you will not be moving a muscle.

Ushijima

MASSAGES. Massages. And cuddles :(((

Big man Ushi comes over when he has the chance with some painkillers and his big warm arms. Most of the time he’s over you guys are just napping cause he wants to hold you! Cause you look so helpless and sick and of course you guys are laying down so you guys just kind of pass out.

Also a big check in texter to see if you’re feeling up for him to be over later that day.

If you are too worried about getting him sick he’ll stay home but he’ll be kind of grumpy about it. You’d get a random FaceTime from him just for him to move his phone away from his body enough to emphasize how empty his bed is 🙄

You cave and let him come over, and when he does he just huffs and crawls into bed with you like ☹️ c’mere

Aone

Omg the biggest worrier of all of them :((((

The one most likely to say he’s sick too so he can free any responsibilities of the day just so he can come take care of you in person. Something about the idea of you being home alone and sick with no one there to make sure you’re ok hurts his heart so bad.

He also would forget to let you know he’s coming over though, so when he comes into your apartment with his copy of the key and finds you under a heap of covers with a tissue box on your nightstand he’s quickly getting under the covers with you and pulling you into his chest.

You wake up an hour or two later to feel big warm arms embracing you and you know your sweet boyfriend came over just to check on you. And judging by his heavy breaths signaling he was asleep you knew he had to have been here for a while <3

his first child is his little girl aka princess ushi aka the reason he lost no simp September

the first time he saw his baby ushi he shed a few tears and no one believed you when you said that your giant, 6’2, straight face husband cried at the sight of your daughter

when baby ushi first game home she was so smol and tiny that she could basically fit in the palm of his hands and he was so gentle with her like everytime you think of it you want to cry

100% depends on you for instructions because he’s so scared he’ll hurt his princess or do something wrong

you’ll be breastfeeding her or smth and he’ll just be sitting there next to you two and observing until you ask him to go get you a paper towel which he’ll do right away and then resume watching you guys

it’s kinda of cute how concentrated he is watching you and his baby girl interact because wow that man is in his own world

Ushijima would be the type to let your baby do whatever she wants to him so you would catch her literally climbing on top of him whenever he would watch her and letting her bite him and pull on his hair

tbh you feel kind of bad for him but the scene is just so adorable that maybe you’ll let him suffer for a little bit more

besides he doesn’t look like he’s suffering that much with the way he’s not doing anything about it

even though you spend most of the day time with baby ushi due to the fact that Ushijima has volleyball practice, she will not sleep unless papa ushi is the one putting her to sleep and until she is in her deep sleep she will always be holding on to her daddy

baby toshi will be the most spoiled baby there is because not only will Ushijima buy her everything she wants, all her uncles from Shiratorizawa and the Adlers will buy her a shit ton of toys and clothes too

Ushijima sometimes just impulsively buys stuff he sees on ads or if something catches his eyes at the store for her if he thinks she’ll like it

will carry her on his shoulders all the time when she’s a little bit older and her head’s not so big that she’ll lose her balance then she’s up there and fall 6 feet to the ground

the first time you ever leave her alone with him because you had an emergency at home, you can’t tell if they’re going to have a really good weekend or if your husband is going to have a mental breakdown

he makes sure that he asks all the questions he can before you leave and makes sure to write them down somewhere just in case but as soon as you give him and baby their goodbye kisses and he’s left standing there with baby ushi, his mind goes blank for a little

it’s just him and the baby staring at each other for a while until baby makes grabby hands at his face

honestly he does fine when he snaps out of it and remembers everything you tell him and he knows he has Romero to call if anything else comes up

him and princess ushi just vibe for the weekend aka she does whatever she wants and toshi is just her butler and she ends up never letting go of him the whole time

throughout this weekend he finds out that he’s good at doing housework with one hand and holding baby ushi with the other

lol he probably tries one of those baby snacks (like the puff cereal) and is like ‘wow these are actually pretty good’ and when he goes for another one baby toshi just kinda makes angry sounds at him for stealing her snacks and he deadass apologizes with his head down and everything

eventually he’ll want a second child pretty soon because he grew up an only child and it was pretty lonely and he wants baby ushi to grow up with the best home life possible (something he didn’t exactly get)

and ta da you make baby #2 aka his best boy and his exact copy

princess ushi is like 3 so she’s still pretty young and honestly it’s kinda hard to take care of the both of them at once since they’re closer in age but you guys manage

ushijima now lets the both of them sleep on his chest during nap time whenever he’s not at practice and honestly there’s so much room on his chest, it’s like the best bed/pillows

he likes taking littlest ushi to walks on the park when you and princess ushi are having girl time

littlest ushi always wants to be carried by papa ushi whenever they’re at the park and he’ll cry if Ushijima puts him in a stroller so Ushijima just carries him around the park and back and it’s honestly quiet with the occasional babble on their walks since littlest ushi is mostly quiet unlike his sister

princess toshi loves her little brother a lot like she would always walk up to his crib when he was a new born and turn to you and Ushijima and say “baby” all excitedly

she “watches” her brother to the best of her ability and by that I mean she talks to him while he lays there and babbles back and it’s honestly so cute

lol sometimes she rubs his bald newborn head and giggles at the missing hair and runs up to her dad to ask him ‘why baby have no hair’

after a long day of watching the kids, practicing, etc. Ushijima just likes pulling you in his arms and giving you plenty of kisses all over your face saying how much he loves and appreciates you and that he’s so thankful that you’ve given him his bundles of joy
