'Oppenheimer achieved the impossible by becoming director Christopher Nolan's highest-grossing movie outside of the Dark Knight trilogy, but no one should be surprised by the movie's success. The new biopic is about J. Robert Oppenheimer, also known as the father of the atomic bomb, and how he shepherded a group of physicists to create a world-destroying nuclear weapon during The Manhattan Project. The movie marks several firsts for Nolan, as it's the celebrated filmmaker's first biopic, and it's the first time his longtime collaborator Cillian Murphy is in the lead role. However, the 2023 release actually had a lot working against it at the box office.
Firstly, Oppenheimer is three hours long, and such an intimidating runtime can put potential viewers off. It also limits how many screenings the film can have per day, thus reducing ticket sales. Additionally, the movie is half in black and white, and its harrowing subject matter doesn't exactly scream summer blockbuster. Nevertheless, that's exactly what Oppenheimer became. Oppenheimer has made over $850 million worldwide and is still playing in theaters. That gross is more than any non-Batman Nolan movie, including Dunkirk, Interstellar, and even the instant classic Inception. Several components of the movie's release subtly foretold Oppenheimer's success.
10. Competing With Barbie Gave Oppenheimer More Hype & Promotion
Major Hollywood movies from different studios being released at the same time often lead to one movie becoming a huge success and the other becoming a flop. Movie studios generally tend to avoid sharing release dates for their tent-pole projects for this reason, but neither Universal nor Warner Bros. would budge, leading to the now historical Barbenheimer weekend. Against all odds, both movies were phenomenal successes. Barbenheimer became an event where audiences paid to see both movies on the same day, leading viewers excited about Oppenheimer going to see Barbie and vice versa. As a result, Barbenheimer is the fourth-highest-grossing weekend in box office history.
9. Oppenheimer Was Christopher Nolan's First Movie For Universal
Nolan infamously left Warner Bros. after the studio made the decision to give their 2021 movies day-and-date releases on HBO Max without informing anyone. However, when that lucrative relationship came to an end, Universal won a bidding war for Oppenheimer, and the studio agreed to a ton of Nolan's non-negotiable terms (via IGN). Some of those terms massively helped the movie's box office performance, as Universal agreed to not promote any other movie from three weeks before Oppenheimer's debut to three weeks after its release. The studio also agreed to a huge 120-day exclusive theatrical window.
8. Oppenheimer Received Some Of Christopher Nolan's Best Reviews Yet
Oppenheimer has 93% on Rotten Tomatoes which is the biggest score Nolan has earned in a while. Though Nolan's movies are always crowd pleasers, 2020's Tenet only earned 69% on the aggregate site. Outside the filmmaker's Batman movies, the last Nolan project to get such a high score on Rotten Tomatoes was 2000's Memento, which also sits at 93%. However, Oppenheimer also has an almost-as-high audience score of 91%. Prior to this, Memento was the last Nolan movie to get both a critic score and an audience score in the 90s. Good reviews likely led to audiences who wouldn't otherwise have watched Oppenheimer going out to theaters.
7. Unlike Other Nolan Movies, Oppenheimer Wasn't Confusing
While the actual physics in the movie can be hard to follow at times, Oppenheimer's narrative isn't confusing at all. Movies like Inception and The Prestige certainly challenged audiences, and some of the movies' logic was over the top. Many have argued that the confusion of Nolan's films got out of hand in the 2010s with Interstellar and again in 2020 with Tenet. Even Dunkirk, an expertly made war movie, unnecessarily played with time in a typically Nolan-esque manner. However, Oppenheimer simply tells the story of The Manhattan Project from two different perspectives. Dialing back the pseudo-science worked for the box office.
6. Oppenheimer Had Christopher Nolan's Most Star-Studded Cast
Nolan has worked with some huge ensemble casts in the past, but none have been quite so full of Academy Award winners and nominees as Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer has such an epic cast that Academy Award-winning actors are even in extremely minor scenes. Rami Malek, who won the Oscar for Best Actor for Bohemian Rhapsody, is only properly in two scenes, while Gary Oldman appears in just one scene. The lineup also includes Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, and many other bankable stars. Any one of these actors alone would help a movie become successful, but all of them together catapulted Oppenheimer to its $850 million gross.
5. Oppenheimer Doesn't Have An Ambiguous Ending
Most of Nolan's movies have ambiguous endings. It still isn't clear who is Leonard's wife's murderer at the end of Memento, and whether Cobb is still dreaming at the end of Inception has become one of the most-debated questions ever. However, while many audience members wouldn't have a problem with an ambiguous ending, narratives not being properly wrapped up doesn't appeal to everyone. Oppenheimer definitely has moments of ambiguity, and the ending leaves audiences wondering about what every physicist went on to do following their work on The Manhattan Project. However, there isn't an ambiguous ending.
4. Oppenheimer Had An Exclusivity Deal With IMAX
Nolan has always championed IMAX cameras, and he pioneered the film camera being used for more than just action scenes. Given how great of a relationship Nolan and IMAX have, the filmmaker managed to secure exclusivity for Oppenheimer in IMAX theaters. As a result, IMAX tickets made up for 22% of Oppenheimer's box office gross after two weeks in theaters, making $114 million (via Variety). Without that exclusivity on the giant screens, Oppenheimer likely wouldn't have beaten several of Nolan's other movies at the box office.
3. Oppenheimer Is Cillian Murphy's First Leading Role For Christopher Nolan
Murphy has worked with Nolan on several movies, including the Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, and Dunkirk. However, the actor has never led a Nolan film, and he has never led a movie on this scale before. That doesn't mean the actor isn't bankable. Not only was Murphy perfectly cast as Oppenheimer, but Peaky Blinders has such a huge following, and there's no doubt that fans of the drama series showed up to theaters because Murphy was the only face on the poster. It took the actor and director almost two decades of collaboration for Murphy to become the lead, but when it finally happened, it paid off.
2. Oppenheimer Benefited From 2023 Having The Hottest Summer On Record
One reason why the summer blockbuster exists in the first place is that studios thought they could make money from audiences who simply wanted to sit in a cool, air-conditioned room for two hours and escape the heat (via FSR). That was no truer than in 2023, as the year had the hottest summer on record. According to Reuters, August's record makes the Northern Hemisphere's summer the hottest since records began in 1940. That probably helped Oppenheimer's box office performance. The three-hour biopic was dropping very little each weekend in August, and if it wasn't for the hot weather, the movie might have taken a bigger hit.
1. Oppenheimer Targeted A Different Audience Than Christopher Nolan's Other Movies
Nolan is known for a specific kind of film: huge, spectacular sci-fi action flicks. However, Oppenheimer isn't remotely like that, which could have been seen as a monumental risk, straying from what audiences love. Adding to that is an R-rating, which limits how many people can see the movie. However, there's still a massive market for mature R-rated films, something that studios seem to have forgotten. Oppenheimer proves that. Despite being shot in black and white, being three hours long, having dark subject matter, and being R-rated, Oppenheimer is still one of 2023's biggest movies.'

THE VISUAL EFFECTS INDUSTRY: PRESENT AND FUTURE
A vfx classes in Pune show students how to fake or enhance real-world scenes digitally. To learn all you need to know to work as a vfx artist, enrol in a course. The term "visual effects" (or "VFX") is used to describe the process of producing images that would be physically impossible to produce otherwise.
There can be no denying the spectacular growth the visual effects industry has undergone over the past few years given that the most captivating movies of the moment are ones that utilise their services.
This and other elements seem to give specialists in the field ample reason to anticipate continued growth in the sector in the future.
In order to predict where the sector is headed, it is best, in the opinion of experts, to gain a broad understanding of the state-of-the-art during the previous 20 years, at least in terms of difficulties and technological advancements.
THE ACCURATE DEVELOPMENT OF THE VISUAL EFFECTS INDUSTRY
The current stage of development of the visual effects industry can be summarised by three key facts:
production of films with a lot of visual effects has increased exponentially. A quick glance at the most recent list of the 50 global blockbusters with the biggest box office receipts might be instructive: Avatar (2009), Black Panther (2018), Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame (2019), (2019).
the increase in popularity of TV shows and streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Disney+. According to Quartz, Netflix alone streamed more than 850 exclusive titles in 2018, releasing close to 1,500 hours of original programming.
In the last 20 years, remarkable advances in special effects have fundamentally changed what it means to watch a movie. These tools enable modern filmmakers to create without limits.
At this point, it only makes sense that such a change has led to new difficulties that subject-matter experts have had to address.
 CURRENT DIFFICULTIES
Every evolutionary route has its challenges, and challenges always lead to more change. Having said that, the difficulties faced by FX artists today are primarily due to the growing reliance of filmmakers on the Visual Effects Industry.
In a nutshell, this has to do with completing the task faster, cheaper, and without sacrificing quality.
The good news is that meeting the demands of the new standard has become somewhat simpler and more fulfilling for FX artists thanks to the ongoing development of technology, including the introduction of the open-source model and AI.
BUDDING TRENDS IN THE WORLD OF VISUAL EFFECTS: OPEN SOURCE & OTHER
Today's experts are adopting the new open-source trend, which enables data sharing and has sped up software development and the generation of new data.
The new playing fields for any player in any field are AI and machine learning. Parts of the process can be automated with the help of AI technologies, which reduces the cost and time spent on the activity while also improving accuracy and enabling the processing of larger amounts of data.
The Visual Effects Industry appears to be moving in new directions, including virtual production and real-time technologies. Real-time technologies enable the reduction of the lengthy and expensive render periods that CG images demand, while virtual production technologies offer new creative and economical conveniences. In fact, real-time technology have the potential to move the production and preproduction phases of the FX process.
Virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) technologies offer the visual effects industry immense potential and a hopeful future. "The most frequent is with on-set visualisation, which is essentially a type of AR designed specifically for cameras utilising professional film lenses," says Ron Frankel, founder and creative director of Proof Inc. Virtual set tours and real-time shot design using gaming engines are other ways that VR is being used in the film industry.
Unquestionably, the continued advancement of technology and its application to the realm of visual effects will provide exceptional outcomes soon. Some people have even started talking about viewing media through direct neural inputs and offering interactive neural responses at the same time thanks to new innovations like those made possible by Elon Musk's Neuralink.
The Visual Effects Industry has undoubtedly accomplished a significant milestone, and all evidence points to its escalating prominence.

The latest addition to my collection of beauties! A HBO-850 classic. This is a classical guitar, that is, with nylon strings despite the looks of an acoustic Ovation guitar.
First impressions:
- It seems to be quite well done and finished. It plays quite easily and has a low action for a classic guitar. It is quite common for a low cost classic guitar to be “hard” to play. This is not the case despite the reduced cost of it.
- It is simply gorgeous. I love the appearance, and although it should not be the most important criteria, it is a very relevant one for a mate you are going to spend many hours with. There are minor finishing details that can be spotted if looked at carefully, but nothing worth mentioning. Basically, it is not perfectly finished, but it is exceptional for the price.
- The sound is quite good (Albeniz would probably disagree with me, but it is for non-professional standards). Better than I expected, especially since I never owned this type of guitar (round bottom, no hole in the middle below the strings). It projects quite well the sound and is bright.
- It is electro-acoustic, which is a plus. It has an active pickup system with an equalizer on the side. Not sure I’m going to use it much, but I wanted it so for my recording sessions.
- The cutaway and the 20+ frets is a game changer when you are used to standard classical guitars. It has more frets than expected because there is no hole right in the middle, and the cutaway allows you to easily reach the higher frets.

TODD MCFARLANE TO DEVELOP
SPAWN CHARACTERS "SAM AND TWITCH" AS A PREMIUM TELEVISION DRAMA SERIES
Jason Smilovic and Todd Katzberg will Adapt Based on Characters first Featured in McFarlane's Superhero/Supernatural comic book "SPAWN"
Tempe, Ariz., June 10, 2021- wiip, the independent studio behind HBO's hit "Mare of Easttown," has partnered with Emmy-winning SPAWN creator and director/producer Todd McFarlane to develop "Sam and Twitch" as a premium television drama series. The project will be based on two of the most prominent characters in the SPAWN comic franchise, which recently broke the Guinness World Record for the longest-running creator-owned comic and has sold hundreds of millions of copies in more than 120 countries worldwide. This announcement follows the news that McFarlane's newest comic project, "SPAWN'S UNIVERSE #1," is officially the biggest new title launch from IMAGE COMICS' in the 21st century.
"Sam and Twitch" will focus on SPAWN's two most popular human characters, detectives Sam Burke and "Twitch" Williams.
Jason Smilovic and Todd Katzberg will adapt the project and serve as executive producers. Smilovic & Katzberg are the creators and showrunners behind the drama series "Condor," an adaptation of the 1975 feature "Three Days of the Condor," which airs its second season on Epix in the fall. McFarlane and Sean Canino for McFarlane Films also executive produce with wiip's Paul Lee and Mark Roybal.
wiip's Lee and Roybal are executive producers of the hit HBO limited series "Mare of Easttown." The finale, which recently aired two weeks ago, set the record as the most-watched episode of an Original Series on HBO Max.
"My two detective characters Sam Burke and "Twitch" Williams appeared in the very first issue of SPAWN #1 back in 1992. Since then, they've become fan favorites and have branched out into their own comic series throughout the years," said McFarlane, SPAWN Creator. "Their stories, blending traditional crime noir and the supernatural, is a combination that I've always thought would make for an entertaining television drama. The addition of wiip and the creative writing skills of Jason Smilovic and Todd Katzberg make for a very compelling team that we all hope leads to the entertaining show we know this can be. If you like cool, moody, creepy, odd crime stories, this will be your cup of tea!"
In addition to creating SPAWN, McFarlane is also the co-founder and President of Image Comics, the third-largest comics publisher.
McFarlane is also best known for his work as the artist on "The Amazing Spider-Man." He co-created the character "Venom," which the feature film of the same name has accumulated a worldwide box office total of more than $850 million to date.

Entertainment Spotlight: Will Vought, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Actor, comedian, and writer Will Vought stars in the most recent season of the critically acclaimed dramedy series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Additional television credits include The Good Wife, The Good Fight, both Lipstick Jungle and Love Bites, Bones, and Wilfred. Will is also an accomplished comedian, having toured the country opening for Wayne Brady. He got his start in the entertainment industry by contributing to Scott Shannon’s #1 morning show on 95.5 WPLJ, offering David Letterman updates and recaps, which opened the door for him to work for Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Following his work with Conan, Will was offered a position in the West Wing of the White House, working for former President Bill Clinton, where he still continued his radio work on the weekends as the youngest morning show host in the country at just 22 years old. Will went on to serve as head writer for Wayne Brady during his time hosting the The Late Late Show prior to James Corden in 2014 on CBS, and he continues to collaborate with renowned actor and comedian Paul Reiser, including shopping a television pilot they wrote together with Julie Bergman. We got the chance to ask him some questions. Check it out:
Do you have a favorite character arc from season 3 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel?
For Season 3, I’m finding myself really interested in Susie and her journey. I don’t want to spoil it for those getting ready to start the new season or binge the series; however, in the first two seasons, Susie’s been hustling and primarily being of service to Midge while her personal life hangs on by a thread. In season 3, there are so many more layers introduced and opportunities that will ripple into not only her clout as a comedy manager but also her personal life. Also, I’m really invested in Lenny Bruce. Having read so much about him to see his plight on screen told through Amy’s lens is incredible. I don’t know anyone in comedy that doesn’t appreciate what Lenny Bruce did for comedians. The end of the Season 3 premiere is absolutely priceless seen thought the eyes of Tony Shalhoub’s Emmy Award-winning performance as Abe Weissman - Midge’s father.
If everything that you did was narrated, whose voice would you want narrating your life?
HA! That is a great question, and I’ve had to think about it. At first, I thought of the late great voice-over artist Don LaFontaine who moviegoers would remember as the “In A World…” guy who made millions voicing almost every movie trailer ever! BUT…truth be told I think that I would love Seinfeld's voice and lens, and I think it would make my day to day activities far more entertaining to listen to, especially when on the phone with my therapist.
Can you tell us about a time you bombed (on stage or in an audition)?
Well…the thing that pops to mind was an audition for NBC’s series called Lipstick Jungle. At the time, I was living on Long Island and decided to make the mistake of driving into Manhattan for the audition. Traffic was abhorrent, and you would think that there were mass casualties on the Long Island Expressway resulting in me being almost an hour and forty-five minutes late for the audition. The director of that episode was the one and only Timothy Busfield, whom I loved on Arron Sorkin’s The West Wing. Tim played reporter Danny Concannon - Senior White House Correspondent.
I had no idea that Timothy was going to be at the audition and was mortified when I showed up and saw him in the room because I was so late. It’s not unheard of to not be seen at all if you are late, let alone hours late. I read for the part and left. Tim was gracious. A month later, I got a call saying that I didn’t book that role; however, they were writing me another role and wanted to hire me for it. While on set shooting, Tim told me that when they asked him if he had any ideas for the part and he said, “That guy who came in 2 hours late. He was great. Hire him.” So I thought I bombed — but it worked out in the end.
The USO Tour scene from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel broke the record for the most number of background actors used in a scene for tv in the state of New York (850). What was it like being a part of such a huge production?
I’ve never worked on Star Wars, but that’s what I was thinking of when we were filming that. It was by far the largest set I’ve ever been on, and yes there were almost 1000 background actors there for almost an entire week, who made up the audience of the USO show that you see in the season 3 premiere. When I met with Amy and Dan for the final audition for the role of Major Buck Brilstein, it was at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn in a small room that’s not much larger than a small studio apartment in Manhattan. It was the three of us and Emmy award-winning casting director Cindy Tolan. We did all the material from the episode, and to juxtapose that to being in an actual hanger with 1000 extras essentially filming a USO show that’s scripted — it was a historic moment in television that wasn’t lost on me.
Tumblr media
What was the audition experience like for your role on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel?
I kind of talk about that above. I had a great experience. As with anything, you have to go in a number of times, and then the final callback is with Amy and Dan Sherman Palladino. You are 2 feet away from her, there is a camera, and Cindy Tolan, the casting director, and you create the world and do the scenes — WORD PERFECT! That is a huge thing, and something I was told going in. Be word perfect every time. Their words are like notes on a page. Each one carefully picked and placed, and my job is to take them off the page and bring them to life with a sensibility of 1959 and a guy that’s a major in the army who always wanted to be a comedian but never really got the chance. So, my character is literally living his dream in this episode. Beyond that, you bring your A-game, nail it, and it’s up to Amy and Dan. It happened to go my way, and as I told Amy, I was grateful to get the invitation to play in her world. She wrote and directed this episode, so it was extra special.
Is there a specific role or moment that you feel has defined your career up to this point?
We’ll — this is pretty significant re: working with the Palladino’s.  I thought that The Good Wife was a big deal at the time — as I was part of Bob and Michelle King’s storyline that revealed Josh Charles’ character was murdered.
It seems that I’m only allowed to act opposite actresses that have won 2 Emmy’s and 2 Golden Globes for Best Actress. LOL.  It’s truly a hard question to answer as each project is different, and as an actor, you hope that one job will open a door or opportunity to another.  That’s what I’ve found, at least over the past few years, so it’s certainly a slow burn.
Years ago, I was the low man on the totem pole at NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien. I was an intern in the writing department under John Groff and often got the chance to appear in sketches on the show. This was an invaluable experience. There was an afternoon where I asked Conan (as I was cleaning his office) if he knew this was what he was going to do from the beginning. I’ll never forget what he said. He told me that, “In his wildest dreams he never thought he would be hosting a late night show.” He described show business as being on a highway. He was a writer in college, wanted to be a writer and set off on the highway with the goal of writing in mind. Along the trip, there were exits: Mad Magazine, The Simpsons, SNL. After each exit, he gets back on the journey. If you want to be a teacher or doctor or lawyer, you know exactly what to do. Go to X school for X years, and then they declare you as such. Boom. You’re it. Hollywood is not like that. Everyone’s path is so different, and how we get to where we are is almost inconsequential when compared to the culmination of the journey. I’ve been blessed to do a lot of different things so far and work with incredible talent that truly moves the needle in this business, and I hope for more opportunities.
What’s your favorite bit or joke from one of your stand-up sets?
I have a new bit I’m working on that’s fueled by my natural anger toward this situation.
I hate paper straws.
If this makes me a horrible person, so be it. If “they” think I don’t care about the EARTH or ENVIRONMENT and support the extinction of humanity because of this — so be it.
Paper straws? Really? Who did this make sense to? Who thought it was a good idea to combine PAPER and WATER?
I’m sure it seemed like a good idea at the time — but it doesn’t work. Three sips into my iced coffee and the thing has disintegrated, and I’m now drinking iced coffee and paper!
If you think paper straws are a good idea, let me ask you one question. Would you like to use a paper condom?
In the future, you’ll be standing in the rain telling your friend you can’t understand why she’s pregnant and soaking wet from holding the paper umbrella.
I will say that if we do switch to paper condoms …. I don’t know about the environment, but we will absolutely ensure the survival of humanity.
Lighting round! Describe each of the following in one word: Who you are, what you value the most, and what you’d be if you were a food item.
I AM WILL VOUGHT.
I VALUE MOST: MY SON.
IF I WAS A FOOD ITEM, I’D BE A BEYOND BURGER!
What are you working on right now?
Right now, I’m working on sending out subliminal messages via Transcendental Meditation to Adam McKay for a coffee meeting that would result in being cast on the 3rd season of Succession on HBO.  I’d text him, but I don’t have his cell. Do you?
Thanks for taking the time, Will! Catch Season 3 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Prime Video.

Link Tank: Celebrating 20 Years of Oceans Eleven
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
It’s been 20 years since the iconic heist movie Oceans Eleven was released! Here are some fun facts you might not have known about the film.
“Has any other popcorn flick boasted a more impressive star-studded cast than Ocean’s Eleven? Well, apart from Ocean’s Twelve, Ocean’s Thirteen, and the female-fronted reboot Ocean’s 8, obviously. There was George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts all at the peak of their powers; past and future Oscar favorites Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, and Casey Affleck; and Hollywood royalty Carl Reiner and Elliott Gould—not to mention a cameo from everyone’s favorite German-American lion tamers Siegfried and Roy.”

So Patty Jenkin’s Star Wars movie Rogue Squadron is back on? Oh man, this is getting confusing.
“As part of the news that Patty Jenkins will now only produce her upcoming Cleopatra movie with Gal Gadot—which is now helmed by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s Kari Skogland—it was confirmed that her previously paused Star Wars movie, Rogue Squadron, as well as the next Wonder Woman film, are now Jenkins’ focus.”

“School wasn’t my bag; it was for dorks,” says an unrelenting John Cena is the latest trailer for Peacemaker, dropping on HBO Max next month.
“John Cena’s transition from the WWE into one of the best comedic actors working today was certainly not what I expected. Yet, when I think about his early time in the WWE, he always knew how to be goofy and fun, and the way he leaned into his rapper persona would give Jared Leto a run for his money. Now that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has normalized this transition, Cena has taken it even further.”

The Matrix Resurrections is almost here, but that’s not the only thing fans of the franchise have to look forward to. Check out our first look at The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience.
“Today, Unreal Engine released an extremely short teaser trailer for its own ‘boundary-pushing cinematic and real-time tech demo,’ The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience. The teaser featured an existential Keanu Reeves looking into the camera and asking a real stumper of a question: ‘How do we know what is real?’ This has prompted many to debate whether the man himself, as glimpsed in the trailer, is real, or merely an incredibly impressive digital facsimile.”

Movies theaters are still recovering from the pandemic, and you might have missed some of these exciting titles from the past year.
“In 2019, the last year in which box office returns were unaffected by the pandemic, U.S. theaters banked $11.4 billion in ticket sales. Last year, that lofty total dropped to $2.2 billion (for context, Avengers: Endgame alone made more than $850 million domestically in 2018). While things look much better in 2021—ticket revenue is expected to approach $4.7 billion—that’s still obviously not great for businesses built on people plunking down $10 every weekend to catch a new release (and hopefully buy some overpriced popcorn while they’re at it).”

Collin Farrell is returning to play the Penguin in an upcoming TV series, even before we see his debut in The Batman this spring.
“Back in September, we reported on a story about HBO Max developing a spin-off of Matt Reeves’ The Batman that would focus on the rise of The Penguin, a.k.a. bird-like criminal mastermind Oswald Cobblepot. Penguin is being played by Colin Farrell in the movie, opposite Robert Pattinson’s The Batman and Jeffrey Wright’s The Jim Gordon, but—at least at the time—nobody had confirmed that Farrell would actually be in the show.”

Some guitar learning for a Sunday afternoon. Since I bought my beautiful HBO blue classic guitar, I wanted to learn this piece from Caetano Veloso. Not many notes, lot of feeling, and continuously varying rhythmic patterns! I’ll need a couple of days to get it right :).
