I love GHOST

I’ve come to make an announcement. I have many favorite digital artists, but one that really sticks out to me is GHOST, also known as Ghost and Pals.

Who is GHOST? Well, GHOST, aka Shay, is a 21 year old artist and music producer who lives in California and uses they/them pronouns. They’re mainly known for making Vocaloid (voice synthesized) songs and having loud and harsh sounds in their music. Here are some examples of their work.

Did you notice something unique about their work? No? Great, now I have to explain. Not only does GHOST make their own music and program these synthetic singers all by themselves, but their music videos are all art. They all contain art that they themselves drew. I am a huge sucker for their artwork because not only do they make very interesting characters with stellar designs, but they also have such a smooth and cartoony yet proportional and eerie art style that when I first laid eyes on, I instantly fell in love! They redrew their first ever original character, and it is truly stunning.

This was a WIP picture GHOST took of the Charon picture featuring their cat, Bean!

They are also known for making doodles like this and they make memes out of their characters as well.

They also made a joke comic with their characters, Arc and Say, from their The Chattering Lack of Common Sense video.

Their art style is cute, but it can easily change to creepy and unnerving with a matter of seconds, and that’s something I can truly admire, especially since I’m one for both cute and horror things. Not only that, they make these characters so that they can be easily noticed and treasured by all their fans for and wide. They did go through a moment where they had to take a break, and sadly took down all their videos, but thankfully, they’re back in a good state of mind and the majority of their videos, mainly their songs, are back online!

Along with these, they wished me a happy birthday when I turned 16 because their song, Black and White, has the same upload anniversary of my birthday and that made my birthday extra special!
