Working and living in Melbs
Tumblr media
In my previous post I had to say goodbye to my boyfriend. It was a emotional moment, but fortunately I had lots of distraction right after that goodbye. I went directly to the shopping mall in Craigieburn to meet my new colleagues from Imagine that. I’m gonna work as a PR.
I have to approach parents to do a free photoshoot for their children. So that day I met my colleagues: Thomas from France, Neshen from Mauritius island, Aris from France and Rebecca from Australia. After work I went with Thomas to the accommodation provided by my job, which is only 100 bucks a week. Aris joined the car for a short moment and I noticed Thomas and Aris were a good duo haha, I laughed a lot with them. Weird to think that I cried on the same day in the afternoon and laughing so hard in the evening.
Tumblr media
I arrived at Airport Tourist Village, an accommodation for tourist to spend their holidays and 30 min by car from Melbourne CBD. I talked a lot with Thomas and I started to talk more French since that day. The next day I started my first workday, from 9 to 5, but in the end we stayed until 6. I met Alex, another colleague from Australia. During the day nothing happens a lot, just approaching parents and doing photoshoots, helping children to get dressed and making appointments with the parents and trying to sell little objects, such as keyrings, magnets and phone cases.
Tumblr media
That evening, I cooked with Thomas and we made pasta. The next day was the same thing, working and coming back at my accommodation, but this time Thomas had plans and left the accommodation for the next days till next Friday. I was like, nah, I’m not going to the city because I have to work on Sunday. But after 10 minutes I got so bored as there is no Wifi so I decided to go to the city.
Tumblr media
I called my colleague Neshen to hang out. On my way I was thinking about renting another place, closer to the city so I started looking. I met up with Neshen and we went to Section 8, to have a beer. I figured out I had to go back on time because of public transport and work. On Sunday, I worked till 5 and headed to the city to look for a houseshare. So I told the host I wanted to think about it for 1 day. After that I met Gabby from Bundaberg. We went to a bar and have dinner together. I ordered a veggie burger and even though Im not really in to veggie food, I had to admit that I really liked it! We chatted a lot about Bundy, what we did after Bundy and other things. Then I figured out my last bus was around 10 so I had to go back early because I had to work the next day. We would meet again soon.
The following day I worked and after that I went to the city to see another house (#2). I didn’t have a great feeling about it so I told house #1 that I wanted to take their room. I came back at my temporary accommodation and got company from Aris, the my French colleague. He’s so funny haha, we had like no wifi, shitty movie and we laughed a lot. Then the other day I got another room offer and I was kinda tired of looking but I was like, well this is gonna be the last one. This one was located in CBD, 5 min from the Southern Cross station. I met Tyler from London and he showed me the apartment. I had a good feeling about it and I actually wanted to take the room and then Tyler asked me do you wanna see the facilities. I was like, what facilities?! and then he showed me the swimming pool, fitness and even a sauna! I take it!! I said, and that for only 150 per week.
Tumblr media
Oh and it’s actually different to find a room here compared to my country. In Straya they just invite the first who answers, and then they show you around and you can say I take it or not, instead of more invitations at once and choosing the best person by the flatmates. Another thing what’s different is that it is normal to share a room, because otherwise the apartment is way too expensive. So yes I took the room and I’m gonna share it with a French girl named Dorine and a Brazilian guy named Jean.
Tumblr media
After that I came back to the temporal accommodation and laughed again with Aris haha. A few days later I saw something on Facebook for parttime work in a food truck so I came there for a trial on a Friday night. It was actually fun! I had to prepare nachos and pulled pork buns or beef buns haha. I had a trial with another girl named Queens, from Canada. We shared our contacts and waited for new shifts but I never got any text anymore haha. Around that time I also moved in a few days later and the first Saturday I spent Halloween with my roommates. I came home pretty late and only slept for like 4 hours and I worked again, but I survived haha.
Tumblr media
The following days I just worked a bit and I got into a new group chat which is full of Dutchies haha, named Dutchies in Melbourne. During the week I met a guy named Joris and I went to the St Kilda pier to see the penguins. Oh they are só adorable! I’ve seen so many of them and actually it’s much better to see them over there than the pinguin parade at Philip Island. After that we had some drinks. The other day I was having happy hour with Kelly from that group. We went to the Asian Beer café. They have jugs for 8$ which is pretty cheap haha and you could buy 5$ pizzas. I also met Erwin, which I met in Brisbane together with Imke and Kayleigh.
Tumblr media
He brought a friend along and we were having several beers, but as I had to work I came back on time while they got drunk in the night. Then on Friday, I went to Sister Bellas. This is a cosy small bar where I met some other Dutchies from that chat group, but I had to work on Saturday again so got back home on time.
Tumblr media
Same goes for Saturday night because I woke up at 5.45 to meet up with some Dutchies to go to Wilsons Promontory. I already went with Ruben but we rushed it a lot, so I didn’t mind doing it again. I went there with Tim, Wouter, Kelly, Annemiek, Leonie, Luna and her friend. It was a great trip, and we’ve seen many beautiful things. First we went to the Squeaky beach, where we took pictures and we put all our bags on the sand. Then suddenly, somebody shouted the seawater!!! and then all our bags and our shoes including feet became soaked. Luckily I was right on time to grab my camera!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later on we did a 7km hike at Mt Bischop. Luna, Leonie and me were loosing track of the others, because they were way too quick haha so we took our own speed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the past few weeks I’ve just been working and trying to meet people during the evening, because I don’t like to stay still at home. So I’ve met Jammy again from Bundy. She left her farmwork in Mildura and we met several times here in Melbs. We went for example to Fitzroy. Fitzroy is a really nice place! They have cool pubs and bars, antique shops and I just love the vibe. I also bought a perfume, as I didn’t carry any here in Straya haha. We also went to St. Kilda beach a few times, to the park and Southbank. Then after a few weeks she left to finish her farmwork.
Tumblr media
I also met up with Gabby from Bundy again. We went to Lygon street, which is known for the Italian restaurants. We ordered a pizza and talked a lot, and in the end we took some ice cream. It was amazing but my stomach was hurting a lot haha.
Furthermore I also met with Etienne from Bundy. He’s the famous baker and made always those delicous caramel pies for us in Bundaberg. I met him at his hostel. We talked, drank jugs of beer and we played pool and again I lost, even though it was a close one!  I met his roomies from his hostel and guess what. They’re all French. I’m surprised that there are so many Frenchies here! I can say I did improve my French a lot already!
Tumblr media
Another activity what I did was meeting up with Queena. The girl I’ve met during my foodtruck trial. We went to Mt. Martha, to see the beach and grab a lunch.
Tumblr media
I can tell a lot of other activities but I gotta admit that I already forgot half of the activities I did here. Most of the time I go to work and do something after work and during my day off I am never bored. Sometimes I go to the gym now because I’m more motivated with the help of my roomie, who goes often to the gym. Furthermore I went to different places already because of work: Craigieburn, Knox, Frankston and now Point Cook close to Werribee. Nobody would really know these places unless you live here for a while, except Frankston. Frankston is a place with beaches and not far away from Mornington. I went for a drink there after work with my colleagues and I’ve seen the beautiful sunset. So yeah I got to know different places here in a short amount of time. It’s weird to say but I’m here in Straya for 6 months already! And still I wanna do a lot of things!
