The days were somehow unbearably longer than they had been before. Fives was stuck here in the 501st Corasaunt base, pacing the endless gray floors. He was stuck on the planet for... Force knows how long. But he was essentially just here on base, guarding it.

He told himself he was the best looking guy here. He went to 79′s to drink, maybe try to find a hook up or a rebound, and alas it all came up empty- he went home, empty handed and empty hearted.

It was colder.

Today, he stretched and felt his spine popping as he leaned back against the Senate walls. His head lulled back, and he sighed, the deep sound reverberating through his modulator.

“ARC Trooper Fives?” A voice drew him from his thoughts. His head picked up, and he glanced over at  the assistant, garbed head to toe in grey and green, holding a datapad. Fives grunted in response, and the assistant held out a small slip of paper. “My representative told me to give you this.”

His gloved fingers reached out and closed around the paper. He nodded nonverbally and stalked off, unfolding the note, hands shakey and heart even more so.

Fives-

Please come see me tonight.

You were right.

On instinct, Five’s fingers closed around it. He knew the small symbol in the corner of the paper, quickly drawn haphazardly so he would know who it was. His heart, which he thought was healed, only shattered in his chest again- torn in half.

He was right.

Fives didn’t even bother changing as soon as he got off. He marched up to the Senator’s apartment, taking the lift up, and he knocked.

There were staggering steps, metallic steps on the other side, pacing placidly towards the door. “Oh!” The droid blinked (the lights in the eye sockets shut off momentarily). “ARC Trooper CT-5555. You’ve arrived early.”

“Hiya, Betty.” Fives nodded at the BD-3000 unit, handing it his helmet. “Senator told me to be here.”

“Yes. She was called out to a meeting, though. She may run late. However,” The droid motioned to the couch before striding towards the kitchen. “She left some clothes for you, as well as dinner and drinks.”

Fives picked up the clothes, neatly folded on the couch. He didn’t have many clothes, and none that wasn’t given to him by the GAR. All clones were designated armor, several sets of body gloves, and a set of civvie clothes. The shirt was soft, silky, with a material he probably had never touched before, and the pants were loose, comfortable, grey. “Thanks, Betty. When will she be back?”

Betty nodded promptly, gesturing a metallic arm towards the door to her right. “I will fetch you some towels. Take a rest when you’re finished- the couch and the balcony are open.”

“Thanks, Bet.” Fives nodded politely at the droid and moved past her, closing the door to the refresher behind him. Fives leaned back on the door, inhaling, pausing to glance at himself in the mirror. He scratched a hand in his fluffy dark hair, grumbling. It never looked good after he showered, but... He would rather smell good than look good.

Fives stripped, placing his armor in as neat a pile as possible, and yanked his body glove off. He stared at himself, sighing for a moment, turning and skimming the various scars and wounds on his body. After a moment, he grumbled and walked to the shower, slowly turning the water to the hottest setting. The day rolled off him, scrubbing off the glares of senators, washing away the sweat of wearing his armor for hours upon hours of pacing in a stuffy building all day.

The clothes were luxurious. They were light, airy on his body, and he shuffled out towards the balcony. Betty had left a cup of hot caf outside, still piping hot as Fives picked it up and leaned on the cool metal of the balcony.

He was only acutely aware of her presence- it was a surge, and one moment he didn't realize she was there, and then the next she was behind him, bated breath, jaw tight.

"You wanted to see me." Fives said, softly against his cup.

Her bracelets clinked lightly as she walked out next to him, but her heels didn’t click on the floor- she must have kicked them off when she came in her front door. She always did. “I did.” The Senator edged away from the door, towards Fives, who turned to look at her. 

She hadn’t changed out of her senatorial garb yet. Her hair was still up, coiled tightly, makeup coating her face and the green dress heavy. She was breathtaking, but not as breathtaking as she had been on the night she had broken his heart. “I wanted to... ask for your forgiveness.” Fives raised his brows and opened his mouth, and she spoke, quicker than him, words spilling like a prayer, a river behind a dam. “I can’t imagine a world without you, Fives. I don’t want to imagine a world without you.” Her voice raised, chorused by a weak padding of strength that had been wearing down. “I just- I was scared.”

Fives lowered his caf and moved from the railing, softly gathering the senator in his arms. “Scared of what?” 

“I don’t want to get you, and then-” She gulped in air, grasping him. “Lose you, I can’t get you and then wake up without you.”

“Shh, shh.” Fives hugged her to him, inhaling softly. “You don’t know the future.”

“Neither do you.”

“But I do know I’m not going anywhere.” Fives pulled her away and leaned down, eye level, thumbs stroking her cheeks to swipe at tears. A grin tugged at his lips. “Besides, I like you too much to up and run.”

She sniffled and nodded, reaching up and smoothing a hand in his fluff of dark hair. “Your hair-”

“I know.” Fives frowned for a moment. “Left my gel at base.”

“I like it.” She whispered, chuckling quietly as he tilted her head up. 

“Cyari’ka,” He mumbled, leaning in and kissing her cheek. His lips migrated to her forehead, and he whispered loving names- “Mesh’la”, was assigned to her forehead, “Ca’tar,” To her other cheek, and she hummed quietly against him. 

Fives ran a hand lazily over the coils over her hair, reminding himself to let it down it a moment. He pulled back briefly to watch her, examine her face- eyes closed, lips half-pursed in anticipation, cheeks pink, flushed. The sigh from his throat was gutteral, heavy, and he released a final prayer, an utterance of his soul- “Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum.”

She whimpered- force, she whimpered, as he pressed her body against his and kissed her. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and nestled to him, pulling lightly at his cheeks, ushering him in closer for more, more. Fives squeezed her and pulled away, chuckling lightly. “How about you go change, and then we can talk?”

The woman nodded and pulled away, reluctant to leave his arms. “Wait for me?”

“I will.” Fives chuckled and watched her turn, leaving the room. The air still smelled like her, her perfumed scent lingering. He leaned back on the doorway, smiling, even as the weight came back to his temples. The small pounding began, again, a nightly ritual.
