Last year was of special significance as it marked 350th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.   Guru Govind Singh ji, the tenth Guru of Sikhism, was born to Guru Tegh Bahadur, the Ninth Guru and Mata Gujri on 5th January 1667 in Patna, Bihar, India. His birth name was Gobind Rai. The sacred shrine, Sri Patna Sahib Gurdwara stands on the site of the house at Patna in which he was born and where he spent his early childhood.   Guru Gobind Singh Ji was a great intellectual. He was well versed in Persian, Arabic, and Sanskrit, in addition to his native Punjabi. He further codified Sikh law, wrote several poems and music; recomposed the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Damdama Sahib in 1706. wrote Dasam Granth and Sarabloh Granth; fought several wars of defence for righteousness. प्रकाश पर्व 2019: इस नाम से जाने जाते हैं गुरु नानक, जानें उनकी यात्राओं के बारे में

कार्तिक मास की पूर्णिमा तिथि को गुरु नानक देव जयंती प्रकाश पर्व के रूप में मनाई जाएगी। इस साल गुरु नानक जयंती 12 नवंबर मंगलवार को है। इस पर्व की शुरुआत दो दिन पहले से ही गुरु ग्रंथ साहिब के पाठ से शुरु हो जाती है। 48 घंटे तक चलने वाले इस पाठ को अखंड पाठ कहा जाता है।

गुरु नानक जी सिख समुदाय के संस्थापक और पहले गुरु थे। इन्होंने ही सिख समाज की नींव रखी। इनके अनुयायी इन्हें नानक देव जी, बाबा नानक और नानकशाह कहकर पुकारते हैं। वहीं, लद्दाख और तिब्बत में इन्हें नानक लामा कहा जाता है।
