while playing the masquerade event i was hit with the realization that the students from nrc are quite literally the terrible tourists rollo was talking about. and im almost CERTAIN they've been just as bad every other event. like you have ruggie who was about to steal a shops hard earned money, you have epel and deuce that were saying their bread wasn't special before even trying it, you have ruggie AGAIN saying that the historic toys they make are just chunks of wood and don't have any value. these people suck and should not be permitted to travel. all they're doing is making a nuisance of themselves.
#auburn's rambles <3#twst#twisted wonderland#disney twisted wonderland#glorious masquerade#not to be an asshole but it's starting to piss me off#like what happened to ENJOYING a trip with an OPEN MIND to EXPERIENCE THE CULTURE#instead of voicing all of your doubts and insults to your TOUR GUIDE while the shopkeepers are RIGHT THERE#nrc is so fucking annoying when they travel#and before anyone gets upset im not saying these characters should be cancelled or that you're not allowed to like them#im saying they're being rude to the people of fleur city

its so silly but i just keep thinking abt being in norway and seeing for the first time kinda ever that like governments can do things to make peoples life better. for no other reason but just to improve things. like im sure norway has lots of problems i didnt see on a trip but i cannot stress how insane it was that the government had done things because it would be nice. to take care of people. ?????
#tour guide like yeah the minimum wage is decent here its 220 NOK (roughly ovr $22) but its not perfect and literally evryone in our group#being like $22??!?!?!???!?!!? MINIMUM!??!??!!?#i keep thinking about taking the bus and trams in oslo :( and abt walking IN THE STREET in bergen wjthout getting run over#or the restaurant on top of the bergen funiculr mountain getting state owned this year bc it was mismanaged ans going under but#everyone would like there to be a restaurant there so the government just decided to make sure there would be one????#instead ofbjust letting it die???#or ALL THE OIL AND POWER BEING STATE OWNED. HELLO?#its just insane idk. that things can for real be different. where i am theres a revolutionary amt of public teansport for a not huge city#but its still basically one bus and then the slowest most fucked up train in the whole world (40min drive = 2.5 hours by train)#assuming uh thw train doesnt get stuck again lol#it mostly exists to take mormon missionaries to the airport i think lol.#the 'walkable' old town section still has 4 and 6 lane roads you have to cross every block.#i dont know its just... its. augh!!!!!!!!#birdenest#we told one guy the minimum wage for waitstaff was about 21 NOK and he didnt believe us and got upset that we were lying

eras tour city guide: Munich
(Gelsenkirchen | Hamburg)
are you're traveling to see the eras tour in Munich and are looking for things to do in the city or just need advice for good food/drinks spots? Or are you looking for some insider information about the venue? I got you! here are some ideas for you (I will continuously update this post!):
THINGS TO DO
Englischer Garten: one of the most well-known nature spots in Munich (it's not my personal fave but the list would be missing something if it wasn't on there). huge park right in the middle of Munich. in it, there's also the famous Eisbachwelle where surfers surf on the Isar! however, it's always very packed in the summer
castle Nymphenburg: very pretty castle! it also has a huge park around it that is way less touristy so you have a chance to spend some time more by yourself!
Marienplatz & Karlsplatz/Stachus: if you're looking for shopping opportunities, this is the main place to be in Munich. extremely packed on the weekends however. at Marienplatz, you will also find the city hall whose chimes ring (including figurines coming out of the tower) each day at 11am, 12pm and 5pm!
Auer Mühlbach: nice spot for a walk along the Isar that is less crowded!
museums: many museums only demand an entrance fee of 1€ on Sundays! so if you're into museums I'd take advantage of that :) popular museums in Munich are the Pinakotheken or the Deutsches Museum.
lakes: you can reach many pretty lakes very easily and very quickly by train! (for example Starnberger See where the train tracks go right by the train so driving there has studio ghibli feels imo! Eibsee & Walchensee are also very nice but do require a car)
Glockenbachviertel: this is the area for queer history and the queer scene in Munich! Freddy Mercury for example used to frequent it! It's also right next to Viktualienmarkt (a place with many different food stands) and it's not as crowded as the Marienplatz/Stachus area. it also has very cute traffic lights!
take a walk by the Isar (for example the Flaucher)
FOOD & DRINKS
Gans Woanders: lovely little restaurant very close to the Isar! they built a little wooden house right in the middle of the city and it has a very cozy vibe. they sell home-made (vegetarian) pizza and fries! (I personally think their pizza is one of the best pizzas ever) and if you go there on a weekday at lunch time, they have even cheaper prices!
Katzentempel: located in the Univiertel! if you have ever wanted to get a coffee or some nice vegan food while petting very cute cats, this is the place to be for you! but: make sure to reserve a table because it tends to be fully booked especially on weekends!
Om Nom Nom: very tasty vegan food and they also sell a bunch of vegan snacks
Pure Burrito: on the note of non-expensive stuff, if you like burritos I can very much recommend this food chain! their small burrito is honestly so filling it's a whole lunch and it's only about 5-6€ for one!
Der verrückte Eismacher: ice cream parlour that sells experimental sorts of ice cream! it's probably one of Munich's most famous ice cream parlours. but: slightly more on the expensive side - you need to buy at least two scoops of ice cream and those cost ~3€. they also give you a free small spoon of an ice cream you want to try on top.
general advice: if you're looking for cheaper meals & drinks you should head to the Univiertel (subway stations "university"/"Giselastraße"/"Münchner Freiheit") - especially the food and drinks right in the city center are veeeery expensive (even the bakeries which is just insane to me but that's just Germany's most expensive city for you). it's also right next to the Englischer Garten!
GENERAL INFORMATION & ADVICE ABOUT THE VENUE
I will make a separate post about the eras tour concert dates at the venue once they will release information specifically about those two concerts, but for Harry Styles at least we were allowed to bring a 0.5l clear water bottle with us into the stadium!
bring a jacket! yes, even if it's 30 degrees celsius outside. it is always very windy in the stadium no matter the temperature outside!
there are tons of food stands in the area of the Olympiapark but also within the stadium (besides your usual drinks stands). at the last concert I went to there they sold Bratwurst in the pit lol
if you only have a ticket to one of the shows but are still/already in town for the other show, be sure to catch the concert from Olympiaberg! you can enjoy a nice sunset and do a picknick there and might (depending on where you find a spot) see the screen! but: I've been there for concerts a few times and the hill fills up fast, and I assume it will fill up even faster for Taylor! I would advise you to get there at 6pm at the latest if you want a (good) spot!

Hiii, I'm the guy, who, asked about french culture for a school project, I was wondering if, you had any photos of France, cuz, we have to make an invitation and we have the idea of making it a postal card, so we had this one idea of making like a collage of photos and yeahh, if you don't have any it's okay, thank you either way, I hope you have a wonderful day! :D
I'm not a big traveler, but here are some I took.
So first, have some photos of Boulogne-sur-Mer, a famous beach city in the North of France.
(yeah, we don't have the blue cool water they have in the south lmao. It's green and polluted, and full of weird bugs that bites your legs xD)
A random picture of Paris where you can see Notre-Dame-de-Paris, our cathedral. It was before it burned though, that's like collector pics or something.
Next is a picture of Lille, I think ??? I don't know either lol. It's a big fountain in the central place of Lille, which is the biggest city in the North of France (North is a department by the way). Though it might be Paris too. I have no idea, it was taken a few years ago lol. (Edit: That's Paris, not sure where, but that's a nice looking fountain lol).
Have next a famous library in Paris. Yeah, we named our libraries with famous English dramaturgists sometimes, that makes total sense.
And then another look of Notre-Dame at night, in Paris. It burned like two weeks after I went there :') But you can see what it looked like before that.
And if you need more generic pictures, that's a lake. It's like 10 minutes away from my house lol. It's polluted too, with carbon. When you go in the water, you get out all dirty.
I'm so sorry, I'm realizing I'm actually not the best at taking photos of my country xD I'll see if that's a skill I can ameliorate later.
You can find plenty of photos of at least Paris on websites like Pixabay that are free to use and way better than mine honestly. If you want some famous cities, you can try Marseille, Arras (best city ever to visit, especially during the Christmas period), Nantes, Paris, Amiens, Lille, Toulouse, Bordeaux... I'm sure you'll find nice photos there!
#myfanwi talks#i'm the worst guide tour ever#the only place i can make you visit is a cool catacomb in Arras full of dead skeletons#I love creepy catacombs full of dead skeletons#there's also a museum of the mine next to my city where you can live what it was to be a minor in the 20th century#i think i have a problem with underground places#maybe that explains why I'm obsessed with Undertale lmao#france#france landscapes-ish

It’s been a while, you good?
I love y'all for checking up on me LOL 🫶🫶🫶
I'm okay, just MIA from Tumblr for a work trip. and obviously still upset and angry and pissed tf off about a lot right now. I have a few asks in my inbox I'll use to rant in more detail but this is just a smoke signal to let y'all know I haven't disappeared LMAO
#this week was sponsored by the effort I had to put into not crashing out ever five minutes in between long ass meetings and team dinners#the amount of brain storming sessions I spent staring at a blank wall trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy.........yeah.#so obviously I was not successful when I tried not to crash out lol#my poor colleagues were visiting the city I live in and I was so manic#I normally have a little bit of downtime during these trips but any downtime I had was dedicated to playing tour guide#and before the trip I was traveling elsewhere#so the timing truly couldn't have been worse#the amount of processing I've actually done is really really fucking low#watch this space for how poorly my processing goes lmfao#also talk about a mindfuck: all this bad news last week and this week I was celebrating some of the best news humanly possible at my job#and like this good news for my job === really fucking good news personally#so while I'm trying not to fall into a literal pit of despair#I'm also popping bottles with my coworkers#and trying not to get too drunk and start ranting about the deep seated hate I have for show runners who fuck over their audiences#I got really really really drunk one night and I have vague recollections of ranting to my work bestie about Bailey at 4 AM lmao

based on a True Story of just yesterday. I say ok i won't be mean to ed and then suddenly he's sobbing on the pharmacy floor I can't help it!! he looks like a sop but he is a sop with a background in theatre, okay.
do you ever notice that Banff and Jasper kind of take up a Lot of Space in calendars, lol... this is an issue that Ed pretends he's not sensitive about but considering these things keep happening to him, i mean, actually more than once. (Who do they think we are??? Calgary??????). All this on top of his battle with google to change his profile pic too.
anyway have some nice photos of edmonton i took these past few months that are by no means professional but i like them
edmonton :) yeah.
#projectcanada cities#pc: edmonton#pc: calgary#pc: banff#pc: jasper#pc: drumheller#hapo doodles#digital art#clip studio paint#boab omake#my drawing is still a bit woobly because my arms are sore#its funny because i think its only been in the last 5 or 10 years or so#that edmontonians have been really leaning into Authenticity tm as an identity#and its actually working slowly because people come here for the unpretentious and gritty but honest vibe now??? which is nice#its something that visiting friends have told me and i laugh it off because im like well you have me as a tour guide and im very biased#but it seems to be something that is true for people more generally now too?? so thats great#its always OTHER PEOPLE pasting the mountains on us and not us doing it ourselves#you ask edmontonians about highlights of edmonton and we all get misty eyed over the river valley not the mountains

Oslo Tiger
Hey there, fellow explorer! Welcome to Oslo, and you're in for a treat because I'm about to introduce you to one of our city's most beloved landmarks - the Tiger statue right outside Oslo Central Station. Trust me, you can't miss it!
This magnificent bronze beast has been guarding our main railway station since 1994, and it's become quite the celebrity. Standing proud at 4.5 meters tall, our tiger is a sight to behold. There's a whole story behind why we've got a tiger in a city that's, well, not exactly known for its wild feline characters!
The Tiger City: Oslo's Quirky Nickname
Well, it all goes back to a nickname our city picked up in the 1870s. Back then, a popular poet named Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson referred to Oslo (then called Christiania) as "Tigerstaden" or "The Tiger City." It wasn't a compliment, though - he was criticizing the city for being a cold, dangerous place.
But you know what? We Oslovians have a great sense of humor. Instead of getting offended, we embraced the nickname! Over time, "Tigerstaden" became a term of endearment, symbolizing Oslo's spirit - confident, proud, and a bit wild at heart.
The Tiger Statue: A Modern Icon
Fast forward to 1994, and our city decided to make this nickname concrete (or bronze, in this case). The tiger statue, created by Elena Engelsen, was placed right in front of the central station. It's become the perfect meeting spot and a fantastic photo stop for tourists and locals alike.
Fun Facts About Our Feline Friend
The tiger weighs a whopping 4.5 tons - that's like 4-5 cars!
It's hollow inside, which is why you might hear it "roar" on windy days as the air whistles through it.
Local kids love to climb on it (though we don't officially encourage this for safety reasons).
During holidays, you might spot the tiger wearing a scarf or a hat - we Oslovians love dressing it up!
Your Gateway to Oslo Adventures
Now, here's a pro tip from your friendly local: the tiger is more than just a cool statue. It's the perfect starting point for your Oslo adventure! From here, you can:
Hop on a guided tour of the city - many start right here.
Take a short walk to Karl Johans gate, our main shopping street.
Head to the nearby Opera House for some stunning architecture.
Explore the vibrant Grünerløkka neighborhood, just a tram ride away.
So, whether you're here for sightseeing, shopping, or just soaking in the Oslo vibe, make sure to say hi to our tiger. It's not just a statue - it's a symbol of Oslo's spirit, and now you're part of its story too! Enjoy your time in our Tiger City!

One of our tour guides in Rome was fucking incredible. Just an overall nerdy dude who loved Roman history and was thrilled to talk about it non-stop for 8 hours and also chill enough I would hang out and talk archeology afterhours over tea for another 5. Tried to find him online so in case I ever go back to Italy I can do it again but alas I cannot find.
#The fact he sticks out so clearly when all our tour guides were history/archeologically based is a giant kudos to him.#I asked what his thesis was on too early in the tour so he gave me the Easy Answer of 'early Roman history' unfortunately. But he had#my brother and I asking questions non-stop. Bless him we asked so many fucking questions lmfao. But he was such a good sport he googled#whatever he didn't know and ngl window to my heart right there.#ptxt#This trip spoiled me like nothing else. I'm never going to be able to visit a city without having a localhistorian to pester with questions

eras tour city guide: Gelsenkirchen
(Hamburg | Munich)
are you're traveling to see the eras tour in Gelsenkirchen and are looking for things to do in the city or just need advice for good food/drinks spots? Or are you looking for some insider information about the venue? here are some ideas for you (I will continuously update this post!):
GENERAL ADVICE
credit: @youlooklikeasixtiesqueen (thank you!!)
❗if you're taking public transport i recommend using the app "vrr bus&bahn". it has a green logo with vrr in it as the thumbnail. you can use it to look up public transport lines and if they're on time, and you can buy tickets on your phone (i think paypal and credit card are accepted as payments, not sure about google pay etc) i think it should be in english if your phone is set to english, but i can't 100% guarantee it. i just remember that a friend has her phone set to english and i believe the app is in english for her. you will need to make an account to buy tickets.
❗gelsenkirchen has the highest percentage of people living in poverty in germany. if you're not from around here and you're imagining a cute german town that looks like it's from a picture book, then that is not gelsenkirchen. it's a large town in the industrial part of germany. crime is not uncommon, especially downtown. keep an eye on your belongings, if you wear a bag make sure it closes completely, and please walk in groups of at least three people when it gets dark. basically just make smart choices and use common sense to stay safe.
❗ the median temperature for july is around 25°C
THINGS TO DO:
credit: @youlooklikeasixtiesqueen
❗important: taylor is playing her shows while the kids are out of school for the summer, so anything touristy that is family friendly will probably be full
❗there is a theme park nearby called "movie park germany" which is hella overpriced. there's not a lot of good rides for adults. the lines are also very very long in the summer. i would not recommend going.
⭐ the area around the veltins arena itself (arena-park):
- mini golf: 3.50€ for adults and 2.50€ for kids - schalke museum: museum about the football club that the veltins-arena is home to, 5€ for adults over 21, 6-21yo it's 3€, under 6yo it's free - apollo cinema: no movies in english but if you speak japanese or turkish you might be in luck if you want to catch a movie - food: several places to buy food including a mcdonalds - there is also a small castle called schloss berge nearby
⭐ zoom erlebniswelt:
- amazing large zoo with three areas (africa, asia, alaska) - highlights: igloo ride, petting zoo, viewing platform for the giraffes, lemur island (lemurs move around freely amongst visitors), canopy walk (by the orangutan outdoor area) - definitely plan to be there for at least half a day, my tip is to go when it opens and go to the "alaska" area first because they have this little ride that's an igloo that shakes you around a bit and it's so much fun, but there can be quite long lines in the summer (i think mostly because it has aircon), it's called "alaska ice adventure" and is opposite the polar bears - they have a little boat that you can go on to get closer to the baboons and flamingos but imho it isn't worth the wait - another tip: bring your own food and plenty of water. it's very expensive at the zoo. like, worse than airport prices. - you can buy artwork made by animals for very good prices at the gift store. i love the penguin art made by their little feet waddling over the canvas. - sadly not a great place for people who need walking aids or wheelchairs. they do say they're somewhat accessible but they aren't (it's better than ten years ago but still not great) - there's plenty of toilets and places to sit, and the toilets have always been clean when i went - prices: for adults it's 21,50€, kids up to 12 pay 14€, and it's free for kids under 4. if someone wants to bring a dog it's 6€. prices are reduced by a lot after 4pm (adults 10€, kids 8,50€), but you won't have a lot of time in the zoo, only about two hours. they also have lower prices for students if you have proof that you go to school or college. it is recommended to buy your tickets online and i agree with that. there's very long lines in the summer. - getting there: if you go by car, parking is 6€ for a day. the address for a gps is bleckstraße 64, 45889 gelsenkirchen. HOWEVER I do recommend taking the tramline 301 from the main station, the stop is just called "zoom erlebniswelt", it's a very short walk. - website: https://www.zoom-erlebniswelt.de/ (only in german) - btw they had baby pigs at the petting zoo not too long ago - @notjustillusion (thank you!!) also recommends ZOOM Erlebniswelt!
⭐erlebnismuseum schloss horst
- i haven't been but i've heard it's cool - interactive museum in a castle!! - exhibits on how people lived in the mid-16th century - free and accessible! - playground outside for the kiddos - in the afternoon on mon, tue, thu, and fri you can use an old printing press - open every day except saturdays from 3pm to 6pm, and sundays from 11am to 6pm - getting there: the address is turfstraße 21, 45899 gelsenkirchen. from the main station you can take bus 383, or tramline 301. the stop is "schloß horst" or "schloss horst"
credit: @notjustillusion (thank you!!)
Zeche Zollverein in Essen: a Zeche that was shut down, great place for walks and/or tours informing you about mining in the Ruhrgebiet in general!
credit: @feminst4life (thank you Nadine!!)
Nordsternpark: nice park where you can go climbing and there's also a museum!
Rungenberg-Halde: a nice photo spot!
FOOD & DRINKS:
credit: @feminst4life
Noah & Zoe's Place: all kinds of food (from breakfast do dinner to drinks), only a 15 minute ride with the tram away from the venue!
GENERAL ADVICE ABOUT THE VENUE:
credit: once again @youlooklikeasixtiesqueen (I feel the need to thank you again because you helped me so much with this post!!)
veltins arena, also called "arena auf schalke", max capacity around 60k
it has different entraces, your ticket should say which one you need to use
cashless venue - you can pay by credit or debit card, or using google pay, apple pay, or samsung pay. you can also trade cash at the venue for a "knappenkarte", which is basically a card you can pay with when you buy something in the venue. they have several different "payment counters" where you can exchange your money throughout the stadium. i'm not sure if these restrictions apply to merch, because it hasn't been announced if she will have her merch trucks or sell it inside the stadium.
you can buy food at the venue, they have vegetarian and vegan options too, but i don't know what anything costs. they have an overview where you can see what food counter has what on their website. they have pretzels and sweets at every food counter.
the website says you can bring in something to drink that is up to 500ml in a "tetra-pak", aka a juice box or a milk carton. i'm not sure about foldable silicone water bottles. plastic bottles are not allowed.
no bags larger than an a4 sheet of paper. i recommend a clear bag as well. they don't seem to have a clear back policy, but it'll make security lines move faster (i'm nearly certain there will be bag checks, i've never been to a concert in this general area that didn't have them, no matter how big or small). i got a clear fanny pack from amazon that i can also wear over one shoulder and around my torso because i think it'll make dancing easier than a crossbody.
i know someone once brought a dog to the rep tour and idk if it was a service dog but i think it's worth mentioning that animals are not allowed.
cameras for commercial use are not allowed (usually that means don't take a dslr)
powerbanks are only allowed if they are smaller than 10x7x3 cm. charge your phone beforehand and maybe put it in energy saving until you want to take pictures
you are not allowed to climb on seats
if you pee anywhere other than the toilets, smoke outside the designated area, or put a sticker somewhere, it's a 25€ fine
the roof will be closed unless it's too hot
they don't have lockers so only take what you need

assigning your blog as an observatory where you're presenting a mock thesis and me and all your followers are milling about or sitting on stacks of books or laying on the floor listening intently and nodding along. we are all in pajamas and fuzzy socks.
wait. if I'm presenting my thesis... and you're all watching me present... then who's driving the telescope?
in all seriousness though this is like exactly the vibe I would like to give off I'm flattered 💜
#answered asks#this also totally would work IRL at my university's observatory by the way#we've already got an area set up for presentations for when we do tours and while it's fairly utilitarian now#if people brought in pillows and blankets and such we could totally make it cozy in there#I was actually up there tonight for tour guide training- it was cloudy so we couldn't actually look at anything#but I still love being up there so much#the best way I can describe it is- I think it kinda feels like shivers (the skill) does#like I feel very connected to my field when I'm up there (& this might be corny but also to the universe at large)#like it's where I'm supposed to be#(it's ironic that I'm comparing it to the 'connection to city' skill- meanwhile the observatory is in the middle of absolute nowhere)#anyways I am glad I am putting out the intended vibes
