Planning a Destination Wedding in South Carolina: What You Need to Know
Tumblr media
Planning a destination wedding in South Carolina is an exciting adventure that combines beautiful landscapes with a touch of Southern charm. Whether you're dreaming of a beachfront ceremony or a historic plantation wedding, South Carolina offers a variety of stunning locations to make your special day unforgettable. Here's what you need to know to ensure your destination wedding in South Carolina goes off without a hitch.
Choosing the Perfect Location
One of the first steps in planning a destination wedding in South Carolina is selecting the ideal location. South Carolina boasts diverse landscapes, from the picturesque beaches of Charleston to the serene mountains of Greenville. Each area offers its unique charm and atmosphere, making it essential to choose a location that aligns with your vision for your wedding day.
Popular Destinations for Your Wedding
Some popular destinations for a wedding in South Carolina include the historic city of Charleston, with its charming streets and elegant venues, and Myrtle Beach, known for its stunning coastal views. For a more rustic feel, consider the Upstate region, which offers beautiful countryside settings. Each location has its own appeal and can provide a memorable backdrop for your wedding.
Understanding Local Regulations and Requirements
When planning a destination wedding in South Carolina, it's crucial to understand the local regulations and requirements. Different locations may have specific rules regarding permits, beach ceremonies, or the use of certain venues. A local wedding planner can help navigate these regulations, ensuring you have all the necessary permits and meet any legal requirements.
Navigating Beachfront Weddings
If you're considering a beachfront wedding, be aware that South Carolina has specific regulations for beach ceremonies. You may need to apply for a permit, adhere to certain guidelines regarding set-up and clean-up, and work with local authorities. A knowledgeable wedding planner can handle these details, ensuring your beachfront wedding proceeds smoothly.
Selecting the Right Vendors
Choosing the right vendors is a critical part of planning a destination wedding in South Carolina. From florists and photographers to caterers and musicians, you'll want to work with professionals who are familiar with the area and experienced in handling destination events.
Local Vendor Recommendations
A local wedding planner can provide recommendations for trusted vendors who are well-versed in the intricacies of a destination wedding. Their network of local contacts ensures that you have access to high-quality services and can make informed decisions about your wedding.
Budgeting and Managing Costs
Budgeting for a destination wedding in South Carolina requires careful planning and consideration. In addition to standard wedding expenses, you may need to account for travel and accommodation costs for yourself and your guests. Creating a detailed budget will help manage these costs and ensure that you stay within your financial limits.
Hidden Costs to Consider
Be mindful of potential hidden costs, such as travel expenses for vendors, additional fees for out-of-town services, and accommodations for wedding party members. Planning ahead and including these costs in your budget will help avoid any surprises and ensure a smooth planning process.
Accommodating Your Guests
When planning a destination wedding in South Carolina, it's important to consider your guests' needs. Providing information about local accommodations, transportation options, and activities can help your guests feel comfortable and make the most of their trip.
Creating a Welcome Package
Consider creating a welcome package for your guests, which could include local maps, restaurant recommendations, and information about nearby attractions. This thoughtful touch can enhance their experience and make them feel more at home during their stay.
Managing Logistics and Timeline
Managing the logistics and timeline of your destination wedding is crucial for ensuring everything runs smoothly. From coordinating travel arrangements to scheduling rehearsals and vendor appointments, a well-organized plan will help keep everything on track.
On-the-Day Coordination
On the day of your wedding, having a local coordinator or wedding planner can be invaluable. They will handle any last-minute details, manage the timeline, and ensure that everything runs according to plan. This allows you to focus on enjoying your special day without worrying about the logistics.
Conclusion
Planning a destination wedding in South Carolina offers a unique opportunity to celebrate your love in a beautiful and memorable setting. By choosing the right location, understanding local regulations, selecting trusted vendors, and managing your budget, you can create a stunning event that reflects your personal style and vision.

Top Three Attractions in Upstate SC
When living in SC, there are so many attractions around you that it is likely that it is hard to pin one down to go explore. In this blog we will dive in and see three of the top attractions and what is so special about them. The three attractions that we will look at are Pretty Place, Chattooga Belle Farm, and lastly Wildwater Chattooga. Each of these locations are special in there own unique ways and are worth the stop!
First up we will look at Pretty Place located in Clevand, SC. Pretty Place is a Chapel owned by YMCA Camp Greenvile and is place for many events and a place to go to be able to relax and take in breath taking views. Many people travel here to see the sunrise and sunsets overlooking the mountains. This attraction is used for weddings, educational events, as well as personal use for looking at the breath taking views of the mountains.
Tumblr media
Next, we will look at the Chattooga Belle Farm which is located in the beautiful town of Long Creek. When looking for somewhere that offers many attractions Chattooga Belle is a place to check out. Located in the quite outskirts of SC the farm offers a place to pick blueberries, apples, and much more. After a fun day of exploring the farm and all it has to offer you can find a resturant, winery, and a stoe to satisfy your needs. The farm is also well known for the beautiful views, as well as a popular event venue.
Tumblr media
Lastly, we will look at Wildwater Chattooga, now I am partial to this one (since I was a zipline guide here). Wildwater has a lot to offer, you can do everything from rafting to ziplining to staying in a yurt or cabin, and so much more. Oftentimes we are stuck wanting to go on adventures but not wanting to travel far, or to make a day trip. In that case Wildwater will satisfy your needs, as it is about 45 minutes from Clemson, SC or about 15 minutes from Clayton, GA. This location is full of family friendly activities and worth checking out!

Greenville neighborhood marks one year anniversary of EF2 tornado with parade
One year ago exactly, we reported an EF2 tornado with estimated wind speeds topping at 115 mph ripped through the neighborhood. "April 25 will 100 percent always be scarred in my mind as the day that my family survived a tornado," said Emily Watson, who lives on Ramblewood Ln. Read more here
Greenville neighborhood marks the first anniversary of the EF2 tornado with a parade. On Sunday, the typically quiet area at Ramblewood Lane became a bit noisy as people gathered. It was already a year since the tornado with an estimated wind speed of 115 mph ripped through. It was last year, April 25, when people were so scared of the tornado. But it was a lucky day that no death was reported because of the tornado, but then dozens of businesses and houses were damaged. Other resident doesn’t even want their kids to remember such a memory. It’s glad to know that the neighborhood is almost entirely rebuilt from that storm.

Finding the Right Art Gallery and Dallas Stores
Dallas, a vibrant modern metropolis on the outskirts of Texas, is both a cultural and commercial center of the state. On the downtown's Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza celebrates the anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination. The Museum also houses the Crow Collection of Asian Art and the Dallas Museum of Art.
Just west of downtown lies the Arts District, home to the Dallas Contemporary Museum, the Dallas Children's Theater and the Nasher Sculpture Center. The Arts District abounds with galleries, restaurants and performance venues attracting a diverse clientele from around the state and beyond. The Museum has four temporary exhibits that span the spectrum of contemporary art: Arlo and I, a re-examination of European art by Dutch master Arlo van Gogh; I See, an interpretation of Van Gogh's painting Irises; In Focus, a profile of Dallas' African-American community; and Placebo, a look at the world of contemporary art sold as well as buying.
The Dallas Arts District is also home to many festivals and free things to do. Dallas Fest, a free three-day event, attracts people of all ages. This year's theme is "The Dallas Connection," an exhibit commemorating the city's evolution from an African-American neighborhood to a world-class city. Music lovers will enjoy the Dallas Symphony's concert at North Tonner Road. And while you're there, why not check out the M-line trolley, which runs between West Village and downtown Dallas.
West Village is one of Dallas's oldest neighborhoods, and home to some of the city's finest dining and shopping. Many locals call it "downtown Dallas." On any given weekend, you can find delicious food and plenty of retail offerings on the pedestrian-friendly lower Greenville Avenue. On this same stretch of lower Greenville Avenue, you will find some of the most distinctive attractions in Dallas: The Dallas Contemporary Museum, which houses a host of exhibits; the Dallas Holocaust Museum, which exhibit an exhibit about the impact of the holocaust on contemporary Dallas; and, of course, The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, where classical music fans can choose to attend performances or just stroll around. Tourists are welcome to bring their cameras with them, but most importantly, they're encouraged to take advantage of free admission tickets for the aforementioned attractions.
If you're looking for more shopping options downtown, look no further than the Dallas Arts District. The area features many small boutiques and one-of-a-kind specialty shops that give visitors a chance to purchase unique treasures that only Dallas could provide. One example of this is the Dallas Art Museum. The Dallas Contemporary Museum features a wide range of exhibits, including works by such acclaimed artists as Robert Rauschenberg and Frank Stella. Besides art, the museum also features a performing arts center, Dallas Symphony Orchestra and other cultural events.
If you're looking for something a bit unique and have never been to a Whole Foods, try checking out Plano's Jewelry and Fine Books. This retail outlet is one of the city's premiere destination for the shopper seeking unique gifts and souvenirs. A visit is a great way to get acquainted with Dallas's jewelry scene. Plano's fine books and specialty stores are also ideal for anyone who wants to buy a gift for a man in your life. The store is located inside the upscale Miracle Mile at the corner of Walnut Street. So whether you're shopping for yourself or someone special, you won't have any trouble finding the perfect gift.
For shoppers looking for Dallas' hottest trends, Southwestern Texas' Lanes has a lot to offer. If you're looking for the newest and most trendy fashions, you won't have a hard time finding any of the popular brands in this section of downtown Dallas. You will find a large number of stores dedicated to selling all kinds of clothing, shoes and accessories.
If you want to experience Dallas downtown culture but don't want to leave your home, you should definitely consider stopping by the Cotton Tree. A visit to the Cotton Tree is guaranteed to put you in a good mood, especially if you drop by after shopping at any of the numerous galleries and boutiques located in the area. The Cotton Tree is one of the city's newest malls, but it's still a great place to spend your vacation shopping while staying in style. This mall has all of the things you'll need for an enjoyable shopping trip: hotels, restaurants and boutiques. If you have an interest in the arts and culture, the Dallas Museum of Art is also a good place to go; it's a good place to meet people and enjoy the beautiful architecture of this area of Dallas.

Memorial Hall 125 E. 1st St. Dayton, OH 45402 The Dayton Memorial Hall is a historic meeting venue on First Street in downtown Dayton, Ohio. Constructed shortly after the turn of the twentieth century, this Beaux-Arts structure is one of many memorial halls statewide from the same time period, and it has been named a historic site. Legislation enacted by the General Assembly in 1902 encouraged the construction of memorial buildings in communities statewide; for the first time, municipalities were permitted to float bonds in order to obtain money needed to construct such buildings. After a competitive search, two Dayton architects—William Earl Russ and Albert Pretzinger—were selected to design the French Renaissance building. Designed by William Earl Russ, erected in 1907, and dedicated on January 5, 1910, Dayton's Memorial Hall, conceived as a tribute to local Civil and Spanish-American War veterans, was typical of the numerous memorial buildings built soon after the law's passage, both architecturally and functionally. The Memorial Hall is a brick building with a concrete foundation, a ceramic tile roof, and elements of stone and terracotta. Its central section, meant to hold the activities for which the building was constructed, is a two-story structure, while other sections vary in scale. A grand Neoclassical entrance, complete with paired columns in the Ionic order, sits atop a flight of steps in the middle of the facade, while lesser sections flank the entrance and compose the building's sides. Small towers are placed atop the sides, between the central auditorium and the surrounding land. Although the main entrance is only accessed via the flight of steps, side entrance may be gained by the use of a ramp. The building's entrance comprises the memorial itself, housing inscriptions honoring local Civil War soldiers and a sculpture honoring Spanish–American War soldiers; a World War I sculpture sits in the same area. The memorial itself consists of the soaring front entrance atrium (filled with bronze plaques), relief sculptures, and regional military history paintings. Inscribed on the building’s facade are Civil War battles where Montgomery County soldiers saw action. On the steps leading up to Memorial Hall, two sculptures depict soldiers from the Spanish-American War and World War I. Throughout the century following its completion, it served as a meeting place for community activities ranging from entertainment festivities to educational events to cultural activities. It was long the home of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1988, the Memorial Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, qualifying both because of its significant architecture and its important place in Dayton's history. Similar recognition has been awarded to other memorial halls in the Ohio cities of Cincinnati, Greenville, and Lima, all of which are Neoclassical structures completed soon after the 1902 legislation.
