Scenario: Jason Sold Roy to the Circus

Okay, so here’s the actual scenario where Jason Todd, in all of his chaotic wisdom, totally sells Roy Harper to the circus. And before anyone jumps to conclusions, no, this is not some heartfelt, deep connection or noble sacrifice—this is just Jason being Jason.

It all starts in a Gotham alleyway. Roy, being Roy, has gotten himself into some ridiculous mess (probably over some kind of bet involving too much alcohol and a weirdly competitive game of darts). He’s bruised, broken, and needing a place to crash, and naturally, Jason is right there.

Roy: “I think my leg might be broken. Again.”

Jason, on the other hand, is just looking for some peace. But instead, he hears a voice calling out from the shadows, that one shady circus recruiter, the guy who’s always trying to sign up “new talent.” You know the type—greasy hair, bizarrely enthusiastic, and clearly looking for something “new” to add to the troupe.

And guess who’s sitting there listening to all this and thinking: “Hmm. A circus. That’s like a… new home for Roy. Yeah, that’ll be fun. I’ll make some extra cash, and Roy can entertain children. This is genius.”

So, like any great best friend (cough) who’s definitely not trying to get rid of Roy for the night, Jason offers Roy up like a prime piece of livestock to the circus recruiter. It’s a casual conversation, really, nothing too serious—except Jason casually mentions Roy’s “unique set of skills,” the fact that Roy “has a lot of flexibility” (which was true, because, you know, Roy’s got archery tricks that could blow your mind).

Jason: “He’s really great at being shot out of a cannon. And he does an amazing backflip, too. You should’ve seen him back in the day.”

The circus recruiter’s eyes practically gleam with excitement. Roy, being completely out of it (and also confused as hell), doesn’t even realize he’s being sold off until Jason’s practically shoving him onto the truck that’s going to take him away to the “best circus on this side of Gotham.”

Now, the best part of this whole scenario is the fact that Roy has absolutely no idea what happened until hours later, when he wakes up in a colorful, tacky circus tent with a clown juggling nearby.

Roy: “Wait. What the hell? Am I in a circus? I swear to God, Jason, if this is some kind of joke—”

Cue Jason, who is in a cafe somewhere, sipping on overpriced coffee and scrolling through his phone like a proud parent.

Jason: “I sold you to the circus, Roy. Isn’t it obvious?”

Naturally, Roy flips the hell out. Because, you know, nothing says “best friend” like selling your sidekick off to a life of glittery sequins and high-flying stunts. But Jason, who has clearly never made a mistake in his life (ahem), just shrugs and sends him a text with an emoji of a circus tent.

Jason’s Text: “It’s fine. You get free snacks and probably an elephant ride. Plus, I bet you’ll make a killing in tips after that archery act. I could see the circus execs wanting to sign you for their big top."

Roy’s response is too much to handle.

Roy’s Text: “Jason, if I get shot out of a cannon one more time, I swear to God I’ll–”

But Jason? Jason’s already thinking about the next big thing. Because somehow he ended up getting a massive payday from the circus recruiter and has already invested it in something even better.

Jason: “You’re welcome, buddy. I also made sure you’re the star of the show. They love a good ‘tragic backstory’ angle. I’m sure the audience will love hearing about your whole ‘I was once a sidekick to a brooding billionaire vigilante’ story.”

And thus, Roy Harper, the once and future Arrow, is now the proud main attraction of Gotham’s strangely successful traveling circus. And yes, Jason may or may not have gotten tickets just to see Roy perform in that outfit, and also, yes, he’s definitely bringing popcorn. You can count on it.
