(1) (2) (3) I did a one week trekking with a friend in the Himalayan mountains. We started at the edge of Kathmandu in Shivapuri Nagarjun NP and crossed Langtang NP to the small town Dhunche. From there we took the bus back to Kathmandu. They called the trek: Gosainkunda trek, after the holy lake Gosainkunda. (5) Lake Phewa with the Machapuchare on the background.

No Solo Traveler is Allowed to Trek in Langtang Region
New Rule for Trekkers who do Langtang Region Trekking
Langtang National Park and Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) has jointly decided to implement the new rule of hiring/taking trekking/nature  guide compulsorily by the foreigners while trekking in Langtang National Park. It means, everyone (every foreginer) who is  doing or planning Langtang region trekking in Nepal needs hiring at least a guide with  them, otherwise, no traveler is permitted to enter in Langtang Naional Park Area or Langtang region.
Initially, the meeting to introduce this new rule in Langtang region was held by Langtang National Park on 28 January, 2025 and decided to send a request letter to trekking Agencies Association of Nepal to implement the new rule of hiring guide mandatorily while doing trekking in Langtang National Park and in entire Langtang region.
The TAAN, Accordingly, made an immediate official decision and announcement and circulated the decision to all the trekking/travel companies that the foreigner trekkers who are doing a trekking or any kind of other adventure activities like peak climbing must take at least a licensed guide with. 
As the  request letter was sent to TAAN by Langtang National Park on Feb 16, 2025, the TAAN made a new immediate decision to implement the new rule of hiring guide compulsorily while doing any kind of trips in Langtang National on Feb 17, 2025. Thereafter, the trekkers who are doing Langtang Valley Trek or Tamang Heritage Trek or Gosainkunda Lake Trek or Yala Peak Climbing are accompanying at least a licensed trekking/ nature guide with them during their stay inside Langtang National Park.

Is guide compulsory for Langtang Trekking?
Yes, a guide is compulsory for every kind of Langtang Trekking and climbing. The trekking trips in Langtang Region like Langtang Valley Trek, Tamang Heritage Trek and Gosainkunda Lake Trek and Yala Peak Climbing requires at least a nature/trekking guide. Without accompanying a guide, no trekkers are permitted to enter into Langtang National Park. So, it is suggested to hire at least a nature/trekking guide to the trekkers who are doing Langtang Trekking.
Is porter compulsory for Langtang trekking? 
 Hiring Guide is compulsory but porter is optional for Langtang Trekking. Without hiring a trekking/nature guide, no independent trekkers are allowed to trek in Langtang National Park including Langtang Valley, Tamang Heritage and Gosainkunda Lake and Island Peak Area. 
But hiring porter is optional for Langtang trekking. If you feel it is uncomfortable to carry your stuffs during the trek, then, you can hire porter too. However, it is not mandatory to hire porter for Langtang Trek.
Can solo or Independent trekker do Langtang Trek? 
No, no solo or Independent trekkers are allowed doing Langtang Trek as hiring guide is compulsory to enter into Langtang Naional Park and Langtang valley trekking trail is located in Langtang National Park. The Langtang National Park and Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal jointly made a new rule of hiring a guide while doing Langtang Valley Trek from Feb. 17, 2025.
