Embarking on a Rwanda gorilla safari tour is imperative

Tumblr media
This remarkable journey will transport you to the picturesque savannah reserve in Rwanda. It is where you will encounter a diverse array of wildlife, including leopards, elephants, buffalos, zebras, lions, black and white rhinoceroses, panthers, giraffes, and an abundance of antelope species such as topi, impala, and defassa waterbuck.
Rwanda boasts three primary wildlife destinations: Volcanoes National Park, Nyungwe Forest National Park, and Akagera National Park. All of them are home to a wide range of fauna. Among these, Rwanda stands as one of the three countries where endangered mountain gorillas can be found. Observing these magnificent creatures in their native environment is an incomparable wildlife encounter. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to track habituated chimpanzees and golden monkeys, similar to the thrilling gorilla trek. Rwanda's diverse habitats provide a sanctuary for numerous species, including mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, golden monkeys, hippos, giraffes, zebras, leopards, crocodiles, and over 600 bird species.
Volcanoes National Park is renowned for its diverse population of mountain gorillas, with several hundred individuals residing there. The park offers the opportunity to observe a dozen habituated gorilla groups, and a total of 96 tracking permits are issued daily for this purpose. In addition to gorillas, the park is home to various other wildlife species such as the golden monkey, elephant, buffalo, giant forest hog, bushpig, bushbuck, and black-fronted duiker. Bird enthusiasts will find around 200 bird species, including 16 Albertine Rift Endemics, although birdwatching logistics can be challenging in this area.
Nyungwe Forest National Park, on the other hand, boasts the highest level of biodiversity in Rwanda. It safeguards over 1,050 plant species and supports a rich array of wildlife, including 85 mammal species, 310 bird species, 32 amphibian species, and 38 reptile species. Among the park's highlights are its thirteen primate species, such as chimpanzees, Ruwenzori colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and various other monkey species. Nyungwe is also renowned as a premier destination for forest bird watching in Africa, attracting dedicated birdwatchers from around the world.
Akagera National Park is a traditional African savannah reserve where visitors have the opportunity to spot the Big Five. While buffaloes and elephants are commonly sighted, leopards are frequently observed during night drives. The presence of lions and black rhinos is also steadily increasing. In addition to these magnificent creatures, the park is home to a diverse range of wildlife including Maasai giraffes, Burchell's zebras, warthogs, olive baboons, vervet monkeys, hippos, impalas, Defassa waterbuck, bushbucks, common duikers, elands, topis, Bohor reedbuck, oribis, roan antelopes, klipspringers, and the elusive semi-aquatic sitatungas. Night drives often offer sightings of spotted hyenas, genets, civets, white-tailed mongooses, bushbabies, elephant shrews, as well as various species of owls and nightjars.

4 things to know about gorilla trekking
Tumblr media
Gorilla trekking is the adventure of a lifetime but requires a little preparation. Here are 4 things you should know before starting your gorilla trekking.
The mountain gorilla is a high-altitude species that lives in the Virunga region (shared between Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo) in the southern part of the Albertine Rift Valley and the Bwindi Invincible National Park. and their number is less than 2000 people. . Meanwhile, one of the most amazing creatures that many travelers would love to meet are the mountain gorillas in the Virunga Ranges in Congo's Virunga National Park, Rwanda's Volcanoes National  Park, and Mgahinga Gorilla located in Uganda in the endless Bwindi National Park in the countryside. Mount Kigezi.
Due, to their adaptation to high altitudes, mountain gorillas can’t survive in zoos or in captivity so to have a peek, you will definitely have to trek into any of the mentioned rainforests. Everyday travelers venture into these forest for gorilla trekking to experience the one of life’s greatest moments and that is having 60 minutes sitting in the cold lounge of a mountain gorilla family deep in the dense forests as they observe these gentle primates as they go about their day.
Where is the best place for gorilla trekking?
Visiting the Bwindi gorillas was a very special and impressive experience; it’s tremendously fascinating to see these peaceful giants in their natural habitat.
Whеn is the best time for gоrillа trеkking?
It's possible tо gо on a gorilla trеkking tour аll уеаr rоund, but you're likely to witness plenty of rain during сеrtаin timеѕ of уеаr. The high ѕеаѕоns, and therefore the best times to go, are June to September and December to February. These two periods are whеn Uganda has the least rain. It's also when many from the Northern Hemisphere hаvе thеir hоlidауѕ - win! Note that Uganda is never actually completely dry – you can expect rain year round. Trekking permits are a bit рriсiеr аnd more in dеmаnd during peak seasons.
What is the weather like on a gorilla trek?
Mountain gorillas live in montane rainforest. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has a mild, wet climate. Temperatures are consistent year-round. This is because of the park's proximity to the Equator. Daytime temperatures are usually around 23° C (73° F), and 11° C (52° F) at night. There's no real dry season, as rain can happen anytime here! So be sure to come prepared with waterproof clothing.
What footwear is best for the trek?
We recommend wearing hiking boots that are properly worn in. Ideally you want water-resistant shoes, as the ground can be very muddy in places. Yоu’ll рrоbаblу walk through аnklе-dеер mud аt сеrtаin роintѕ, аnd ѕоmеtimеѕ еvеn knее-dеер mud that thrеаtеnѕ tо ѕuсk the boots right оff your fееt. You might even consider wearing gaiters.

How can you get the most out of your Gorilla Trek?
Tumblr media
Gorillas are among the most interesting animals you can choose to see, learn about and enjoy. It's no wonder gorilla trekking and safaris are so popular. There are many countries and regions where you can enjoy these amazing tours and Uganda is one of the best regions that you can choose to enjoy gorilla safari. But like any other safari, you must be well prepared to travel. The choices you make can determine how profitable your gorilla trip will be in the end. Covered well
Remember that during travel trips, you will walk in a small way and sometimes not at all. This means you must choose clothes and shoes to protect yourself from thorns, and bodies, browser and branch. Consider wearing gaiters, long pants and socks to keep insects away and gloves to protect you from thorns and nettles. Wellies are a good choice, but you can also opt for long-sleeved shirts, jackets and sweaters. Prepare for the trip
The walk can take hours and depending on the terrain you have to face, it can be physically challenging and exhausting. The best thing you can do is to make yourself able to handle the difficult area quickly. The last thing you want is to see nothing or train your team just because you can't stay on the field for a few minutes in a difficult situation.
Get all the necessary equipment
Besides wearing the right clothes and shoes for gorilla trekking, there are other important things you should not forget. Insect repellent, sunscreen, plenty of water, a waterproof camera bag and a walking stick are some of the essentials to bring. Depending on the weather, you may also consider packing a poncho or rain jacket, a hat, and other essential items you may need for the weather. The truth is that the mountain region can be cold and rainy and you need to be prepared for that situation.
Choose the best time to travel
The location you choose for your gorilla trek will determine the conditions in which you will want to enjoy the animals. But in general, it is good that you choose to walk in summer; rainy season can make you calm, but again, they have many challenges that can hinder the results of the trip. Choose a time when you will see the animals in their glory and the time makes it easier for you to do it. Plan the trip well
Traveling in a group is fun and exciting, so consider joining a group. Organized tours are the best option not only to provide your company with care to make the trip enjoyable, but also to make the trip easier and get you the right you need for the trip. Look for organized safaris and treks with gorillas to make the trip easier.

Subsequently, go for game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park where you can see the famous tree-climbing lions, elephants, hippos, buffaloes, among others. You will have to trek through the steep forested hills, until your group faces a family of the mountain gorillas. What is most interesting is that you can sit and watch them as they eat, play and take their naps.
Tumblr media
Uganda Gorilla and Chimp Safari Packages
From there cross the Rwanda border to track the mountain gorillas again in the Volcanoes National Park. Graphic obstructions are significantly fewer in Volcanoes as opposed to Bwindi, of which the majority of the park comprises bamboo forests. Last of all, it is possible to arrange a tour of genocide memorials in Kigali to get acquainted with the Rwandan tragic past and a optimistic perspective for the future.
A two country’s tour that covers both Uganda Rwanda safari tour packages will best allow you to have the best of primate experiences in both nations. Local tour guides offer brief history details and are there to make sure that visitors are not intruding on the wildlife for endangered species of gorillas and chimpanzees. Mountain gorillas are critically endangered, with perhaps 1000 of them surviving in the world today. This is a trip that many would want to tick off their list. This is one of the greatest wonders of the world that one should not hesitate to contact us for a chance to book a trip to Rwanda for this incredible experience.
