Thoughts on the Malayalam movie "Bangalore Days"?
Regretful that Anjali Menon didn't get to include the extra half hour that she had to cut bcz of execs and length
I love the movie in the sense that the characters are realistic, bigotted, some naive, some not naive at all. The marriage problems are realistic with a sense of fantasy in the sense of how mellow the resolution comes about (a compliment)
Disability representation and also not (in a good way) bcz no one for once thinks Sarah is incapable of being by herself. She's literally the most self-sufficient and badass cutegirl in the group. Maybe the one with most caution other than FaFa's character
Soundtrack doesn't slap as much for me except Mangalyam but maybe that's just me
I for realsies don't want a remake of this, because it is hard af to replicate this emotion. You can't have a bigoted traditional Malyali guy and a Gulf-return naive Malyali girl in any other setting, I can't imagine a favorable outcome with the same emotions fit into another pattern like an unsuitable key into a lock you know grants you serotonin
Thanks for the ask!!!

RATING DAILY TV SOAP BGMS (SOUTH)
Because I just did whatever had to be done to my chem test *thumbs up with a wide grin*, and I need a break, so.
5.
I honestly don't get it. I even forget that this is a film song. To me this is a *famous actress* vs *even more famous actress* edit bgm. Amidst that, seeing the villain ordering a bunch of goons to kidnap the innocent main character, and randomly breaking into a full detailed origin/revenge story while karuppu vellai plays in the background is just- nvm.
4.
So it's been almost an entire decade since this song was released, and every single time there's a wedding scene in the serial, This. Song. Will. Play. To date. Language, no barrier. I'm not even kidding. At this point it's not even bordered only for weddings, it's just any traditional south Indian ceremony. I see some serials slowly transitioning to tum tum. Some. Only some.
3.
Obviously the entire ost collection is abused, but this volume in particular, MAX ABUSE.
"I'm leaving the house" *ayyaaaa AYYAAAAA*
"You're adopted." *Dandalayya reprise*
"I can't get married to you" *violin being sawed in half* But honestly it's a bop so no complaints, except for that one time they played this right after dropping a plate full of ladoos (No you're not missing any context, she just dropped a plate of ladoos, and they played a track out of this volume.)
2.
See now this, I have no plights. It's perfect. It's overdramatic. Used in places where drama comes into play only because of ego. Doesn't overpower the scene. As though D Imman wanted to make a reel song, and suddenly he was like "Nah, imma make one for the Paatis'." I can honestly write an entire analysis on why this is a perfect south serial song.
1.
Mind you, this film came out before I was born. So when I heard this "song" for the first time, it was on a tv serial. And then when I heard to the actual song, I thought the tv was playing too loud. But it was just the song. So all this while, every tragic/chaotic/ disturbing incident bgm in serials was just the second half of Kammukonna Chikatlona? And you expect me to recover from that?
.
.
Also that ended up being, WAY LONGER than i expected. So at least if I don't pass that chemistry test, i might have a teensy weensy chance of script writing and directing for maa/colors/zee tv.

(via ISKCON Paris | HH Bhakti Sundar Goswami | 7 nov2024 - YouTube)
**ISKCON Paris - Reflections on Krishna’s Unfathomable Love** *By His Holiness Bhakti Sundar Goswami* In the sacred tradition of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), we often find ourselves reflecting on the heartwarming, mystical pastimes of Lord Krishna. One such pastime, which has always resonated deeply with devotees, is the story of Krishna’s mother, Yashoda, attempting to bind her young son with ropes. This tale, found in the Srimad Bhagavatam, exemplifies the profound love between Krishna and His devotees and reminds us of His divine and inconceivable nature. In this instance, Mother Yashoda was determined to tie Krishna to prevent Him from running away after His mischievous acts. She gathered ropes from around her home, but no matter how many ropes she used, they always fell short by the width of two fingers. Devotees have meditated upon this mystery for centuries, seeking to understand its deeper significance. The "two-finger gap" symbolizes two essential elements required to reach Krishna—our own sincere effort and Krishna's mercy. Despite her efforts, Yashoda could only succeed when Krishna Himself decided to allow her to bind Him. This reveals that no amount of personal endeavor can achieve success without divine grace. The elderly gopis, friends of Mother Yashoda, gathered to watch her struggle with this endeavor, amused at the irony of a mother trying to bind the Supreme Personality of Godhead. They were delighted to see how Krishna, though all-powerful, was allowing His mother’s love to seemingly control Him. This was a playful contest between a loving mother and her divine child, illustrating a unique dynamic where God and His devotee are in sweet conflict, yet profoundly united in love. In this pastime, we witness Krishna’s unique, childlike vulnerability, which He voluntarily adopts to reciprocate His devotees' love. In the material world, love between a child and mother is natural and tender, but Krishna’s pastimes reveal this relationship as an eternal, pure connection originating in the spiritual realm. Here, Krishna willingly places Himself in a dependent position, responding to the love of His mother, Yashoda. When Yashoda was churning butter, Krishna came, expressing His hunger. She immediately stopped her work, sat down, and began to feed Him. But when she remembered that milk was boiling over on the stove, she put Krishna down to save it. Angered by this sudden disruption, Krishna reacted like any child might—He broke a pot of yogurt in His frustration. Then, taking some butter, He ran off to hide and share it with His friends, the monkeys. Even in His apparent naughtiness, Krishna showed kindness, feeding the monkeys who had once helped Lord Rama. Seeing the mess, Yashoda quickly realized who the culprit was. She followed His tiny footprints and finally caught Him, brandishing a stick as she approached. Krishna, the Supreme Being, the one whom even death fears, trembled and wept in fear of His mother’s scolding. The scene is humbling; it demonstrates how, in the presence of pure love, the all-powerful Lord willingly becomes submissive. As she attempted to bind Him, the ropes were mysteriously always two fingers too short, regardless of how many pieces she added. Only when Krishna chose to let her succeed was Yashoda finally able to bind Him. This phenomenon of the two fingers illustrates the dual requirements of devotional life: the devotee’s own sincere effort and Krishna’s merciful blessing. Without both, one cannot fully reach the Lord. This pastime holds a beautiful lesson about how Krishna grants His mercy. He may offer material wealth, mystical powers, or even liberation with relative ease, but He rarely bestows pure love, as that love binds Him completely. Yashoda’s selfless, unconditional love allowed her to experience the supreme joy of being close to Krishna in a way that transcends any other form of connection. Krishna’s pastimes are filled with such contradictions that, to the material mind, seem impossible. Once, someone asked Srila Prabhupada, “Can God create a rock so heavy that He Himself cannot lift it?” Prabhupada wisely responded, “Yes, He can. And then, if He wishes, He can lift it.” In Krishna, all contradictions find harmony, for He is the Absolute Truth. These reflections are particularly cherished during the holy month of Kartika, when devotees meditate on Krishna’s pastimes with His mother and offer lamps to celebrate their love. Krishna’s interaction with Yashoda reminds us that He can be controlled by nothing but the pure love of His devotees. It is through such love alone that devotees can access the true essence of Krishna. Let us, therefore, meditate on these pastimes, learning from the humility, love, and devotion of the Vrajavasis and pray to develop a relationship with Krishna that transcends all barriers, a relationship bound by nothing but pure love. Thank you very much for joining in this meditation on Krishna’s divine pastimes. Hare Krishna.

Movie Review
Tumblr media
So I went to watch Geeta Sakhiga yesterday with my family since it was recommended by my sister, who is like a literal movie critic. Within a few seconds after stepping in the movie hall, this movie grabbed my attention even more since it is based on a true event. Being a law student myself, such movies inspire me the most and at the same time make me believe in the power women hold in our nation. So basically, the story revolves around sensitive, yet not so sensitive, issues of our country: rape and women's empowerment. What an irony, right?
The Tollywood industry is now extremely the talk of the town among the Hindi moviegoers because of its amazing content like never before.
Adding another one to the block-baster list "Geeta Sakshiga," is the latest passionate, dramatic, and emotionally packed film from Anthony Matripalli. The tale of Arjun and Amoolya is not only a gripping tale of love and redemption, but it is also a significant narrative about the empowerment of women and the problems that society faces. This narrative demonstrates the difficulties that women encounter in society as well as their tenacity and resiliency in overcoming those difficulties. The mere trailer itself has left the audience in utter excitement. The film's complex story is beautifully complemented by Gopi Sundar's soundtrack, which will definitely make up to your playlists. Following mentioned are the general details about the movie-
Movie Name: GeetaSakshiga Writer & Director: Anthony Mattipalli Release Date: 7th April 2023
It’s amusing to watch that how the storyline takes surprising turn of nail biting events, Aadarsh's character Arjun, a DJ at a bar, is introduced to us at the start of the movie. He is a charming, loving, and compassionate young man, like most guys. His good nature is evident in the way he conducts himself. He is a devoted son to his mother, a humorous teacher to his students, and a responsible member of his family. As requested by his family, he consents to an arranged marriage but later realises that he is not in love with the partner they choose for him. When he develops feelings for the stunning gorgeous woman Amoolya, his predicament worsens (played by Chirtra Shukla). His life takes a turn for the worse as he tries to tell his family how he feels, and he is found guilty and given a life sentence for brutally raping and killing a girl. He is wrongfully imprisoned while being innocent, and he must accept his fate. Moreover, seeing a movie with a female protagonist and a man lead character was a novel change. I won't go into additional detail about the plot of the movie, but I will talk about the issues it explores.
We live in a world where rape stories are more frequently heard than people having a headache, newspapers are flashing with rape as their highlights. So i’m so glad to come across a movie like this which depicts the dark side of the society further being portrayed so beautifully by the director.
Falsely accusing innocent people of crimes like rape while the offender is free to perpetrate other crimes is a common occurrence. The film demonstrates how money and power may have an impact on the law. It portrays and handles societal power dynamics beautifully.
Tumblr media
What I loved the most about the movie is the fact that the director instead of victimizing the women, the female protagonist, Amoolya’s character has been portrayed as a strong heroic character throughout the movie. Another aspect of the film that I enjoyed was the way it portrayed its female characters. Popular media frequently presents female characters in clichéd ways, failing to acknowledge the various kinds and nuances of women. Yet, this film not only features a wide variety of female characters, but also demonstrates how these women have control over their own lives and the ability to alter the story. For instance, Amoolya is the protagonist and the saviour of the story in addition to being Arjun's love interest.
Tumblr media
Lastly I would like to conclude by saying that the film is a spectacular cinematic experience and an entertainer in addition to containing profound themes. The film's music, which was composed and directed by Gopi Sundar, is surely a vibe. Overall, I thought the tale was interesting and would strongly advise everyone to watch the film. Now quickly book the tickets to your nearest cinema halls and cherish this bliss of Tollywood with your friends and family.
