[Movie Review] Mardani 2

My view on the movie: I got two main things that I need to be focus for this movie. It is all about sexism and equality, which was one of the main concern for today. India show the concern for this since India ranks 131st among 152 countries in Global Ranking of Women’s Inclusion and Well Being. It is a poll, of course there must be some countries at the bottom of the ranking. But, there must be something if the country worried about it.

I read quite frequent about crime in India like gang rape (which is from my own perspective, is the worst men can do to women, but still they can go beyond that), child trafficking, underage bride and many more. Someone share with me that men in India doesn’t respect women and girls. They can do anything to women and men. It is happening even in the family. What monkey see, monkey do. If a father beat his wife in front of their children, the children can pick up that and thought there is nothing wrong to beat their own wife, which is wrong.

Still, in 2019 (when the movie was release) and 2020 (when I wrote this review), there are still some human being always compare what women do and believe man can do better. I would like to object that. I don’t care people favor men more, if the men know his work and good at it. But, they can’t simplify said ‘this will never happen if men do this job’, which is sexism. Equality need to be spread on all matter.

Another trigger issue in Mardaani 2 is mental illness, a psychopath. We can’t judge people by his look. In this movie, Sunny attack women who speak bold toward him. He rapes and torture the victims, one lead to the death. He will do anything just to get rid of that kind of women. He didn’t afraid with police and treat it like a game. This kind of people is very dangerous. Which is why, it also affects my life sometime. How many time we read people killing others just for the petty cause, like parking or the victim just glare at the criminal for some reason? In my country, there a women coach on the train, but still some uneducated or ignorant men sit on the said coach. My friend said, just give them a sound and kick their ass from the women coach. But I always thought, what if that said men get angry to me and then, do something that I can’t imagine as a revenge?

I think I watch too many Criminal Mind.

But, genuine question. Is that how Indians police deal with the criminal? I mean through violence? I get that they handle a criminal and will do anything for the criminal pay for what had they done, but if this happen in my country, I’m pretty sure there will be NGO involve with this matter.

Casting: As usual, Rani Mukerji had a splendid job for this movie. However, the character from the newcomer Vishal Jethwa was very good. His portray his character like he is a psychopath.

Soundtrack: I’m not really follow the soundtrack since I’m more focus on the plot.

How good this movie?: 4.5/5
