for my sweet babies @coeurify @bambiesfics @addisonnie @seattlesellie
It was yet another blazing hot day at the country club, the sun’s sweltering rays kissing the backs of your legs as you bent down to retrieve a fallen golf ball from the bright green turf, careful not to bend straight over so that your panties would be on full display for anyone who dared to walk behind you. You readjusted the visor on your head upon standing, before you wiped a speck of excess dirt off the white plastic with a perfectly manicured finger before passing it off to Tommy Miller.
“Thank you, sweetheart,” he said, making sure to grab an unnecessary amount of your hand in his own as he took the ball. He winked at you before readjusting his own visor, and setting up the ball on the tee. After the first time you caddied for Tommy, he started requesting you by name. Of course, you knew it probably had a little something to do with the way you caught him staring at your full breasts that sat perfectly in your pink racerback, neckline so low everyone could watch the way small beads of sweat would dribble down your skin and disappear between your chest.
The truth is, you didn’t mind that Tommy was a little flirty with you, or even handsy sometimes, for that matter—for two reasons. The main one being, Tommy had money. Like, different car for each day of the week money. And his brother, Joel, somehow had even more, you’d reckoned from the times you’ve gotten to chat with him. They were always talking about what new business venture they’d invested in this week, or what extravagant trips they were taking next week. To the average person, it might sound snobby and pretentious—because well, it was—but around the club, it was normal. But you didn’t mind, because the more money your club members made, the more money they could put in your pocket. And you had bills to pay.
The second reason being, of course, you knew it wouldn’t get them anywhere. Not when you weren’t really into Tommy’s…type, if you will.
“Of course, Tommy,” you smiled warmly at him, before stepping back to stand in the shade of the golf cart as you watched him line up his shot. Just as he was all set up, swinging his arms behind him to take the shot, his phone began ringing loudly from his back pocket.
“Goddamn, piece ‘uh shit!” He exclaimed as the ringer clearly messed up his concentration. You had to hide your smile as he shot you an apologetic look before tucking the club under his arm and pulling out his phone to answer. The club was a little high and tight, with people talking like they’d just stepped off the set of an eighties classic film, but Tommy was a little…different. Coming from Texas, the money he’s made never quite washed away his potty mouth, nor his laid-back attitude.
“What is it Joel? Oh, you’re here?” Tommy glanced at you before dropping his gaze to the ground, rolling the golf ball around with his foot mindlessly. “Yeah, yeah. Okay. No, I’ll have her come pick you two up. Yep. Alright, see ya in a bit.”
You straightened up against the cart as he approached you, ready to do whatever it was he’d ask.
“Joel’s here?” You asked, sliding into the cart preemptively.
“Yeah, that sonuva bitch decided to stop by after all. Him and Ellie are waitin’ at the clubhouse, would you mind swingin’ to pick them up?”
“Ellie?” You cocked your head slightly, but slid through to the driver’s seat nonetheless.
“Ah, forgot you haven’t met ‘er yet,” Tommy said, and you didn’t miss the way his eyes trailed down to where your thick thighs spilled out onto the seat, your panties just barely covered by the white pleated golf skirt that rode up when you sat. You immediately averted your gaze, turning the key to the cart and feeling it rumble to life. “Ellie’s Joel’s daughter. I think she’s about your age…she’s great n’ all, honors student in college, yadda yadda…y’all might actually hit it off.”
“We’ll see about that,” you said playfully. If only he knew what he was actually implying to your sapphic brain. He just smirked at you, tapping the hood of the cart twice before walking back to the tee. “See ya in a bit,” he called over his shoulder as you drove away. You weren’t too far from the clubhouse, as Tommy had barely gotten started on his round, so it was a quick little drive over. The warm breeze tickled the baby hairs peeking from beneath your visor, and helped to cool the bare skin of your arms.
Joel was waiting for you in the cart-turnaround at the back of the clubhouse when you arrived, and gave you a little wave as you turned around the corner. You waved back, putting on your best smile and doe eyes as you pulled up in front of him standing alone with two golf club bags at his sides. He smiled politely when you came to a stop, jumping out quickly to retrieve his bags when he started trying to put them on the cart himself.
“Joel, you know you don’t have to worry about all that. Not when I’m around, at least.” You smirked at him as you picked up the two bags of heavy clubs with ease, loading them onto the back of the cart.
“C’mon now, I can’t even attempt to be a gentleman?” He joked, tipping his visor at you playfully. You giggled, exaggeratedly.
“Oh, but of course, Mr. Miller. My apologies.” You pretended to curtsey for him, just barely lifting the hem of your short skirt as to not completely expose yourself—but surely you didn’t miss the completely conspicuous way his eyes traveled down the expanse of your curves, from the way your breasts practically spilled from your tank top, to the small patch of exposed skin at your midriff, all the way down to the way your white skirt flowed as you crossed your legs. I mean, who wouldn’t look, honestly? He huffed out a laugh and you took that as your cue to slide back into the driver’s seat, and Joel leaned a strong arm against the roof of the cart.
“Tommy mentioned your daughter? Is she—”
“Ready, Dad?” You could only assume Ellie, his daughter, suddenly appeared behind Joel, effectively shutting you up and quite literally taking your breath away. You at least had the decency to choke quietly, using Joel’s surprise as an excuse to turn your head away, bringing your fist to your mouth for a moment as you cleared your throat and tried to regain your composure. You felt the cart dip to your right, so you turned back, expecting to see Joel sliding in next to you—but no, it just had to be his daughter. His beautiful, angelically-built daughter with a perfect smile and perfect jade eyes and somehow even more perfect hands, which she was using to grip the stability bar at the front of the cart as she slid in next to you.
You felt stunned, could do nothing but pathetically stare at her with your mouth slightly agape as you heard Joel’s phone ringing distantly, somewhere in the back of your mind, even though you knew he was sat right behind you. A half smile made the corner of Ellie’s lip twitch ever so slightly, but she looked away quickly, leaving you practically lusting at the sight of her side profile.
“You gonna take us to Tommy? Or just sit there and stare like you ain’t got nothin’ in your brain?” Her voice was like pure sex; rich and modulated, no real Southern accent like her father, but his vernacular had definitely rubbed off. It was really hard to not show that her words were heading straight to your lower half, your thighs pressing together just inconspicuously enough that you’d probably be able to play it off if she really noticed. You had to at least look embarrassed, averting your gaze so that you could turn the small engine over.
“It’s nice to meet you, Ellie. Tommy speaks very highly of you.” You chose to ignore her little comment, focusing instead on trying to treat Ellie just like every member you’d had the pleasure of serving.
And oh boy, would it be a pleasure to serve Ellie.
“M’sure he does,” Ellie all but laughed, leaning back so that her legs spread apart across the seat, her left knee getting dangerously close to your legs. You swallowed thickly, trying to watch the movement of her tattooed arm from your peripheral as she slung it over the back of the seat. You could tell it was a natural response, that she probably man-spreaded like this everywhere—but some sick and perverted part of your mind wanted to believe that she was doing it for you, that she wanted you to see her act so…
“Eyes on the fucking road, sweetheart,” she said, and it was quiet. But the weight of it made you nearly squeak—how long had you been looking over at her?—narrowly avoiding a decently-sized rock that would have gotten easily stuck in the small tires of the golf cart. “This your first day on the job or somethin’?”
And Ellie was so fucking casual with it. Like she hadn’t even meant to degrade you. You stammered a bit, and you swear you could feel her eyes burning a hole into the side of your face. Tommy appeared suddenly as you reached the small summit of the course hill, and all you could do was huff quietly as you approached, again choosing to ignore the way she taunted you like it was second nature. Luckily, she either didn’t hear or chose to ignore you, but she didn’t say another word as you pulled up near Tommy, just as he was taking a long swing with his driver.
“You see that shit, Joel?” He asked as he squinted out at the ball flying through the air with impressive speed. “Might actually beat ya this time, whatcha think?”
“Yeah, yeah, you just got a head start, that’s all.” You could hear the smile in Joel’s voice as you quickly jumped out of the cart and ran to grab his clubs for him, and Ellie’s, too. He was finishing up his phone call as he took the bag from you, giving you a small nod before you turned to face Ellie. Now that you were standing practically face to face, you had to stop yourself from looking her up and down. Or you at least had to find a way to be discreet about it…and that was one thing you were, was quick on your feet.
“These are some nice clubs,” you praised, using it as an excuse to look down at her, playing it off like you were examining them. Her feet were clad in an expensive pair of golfing shoes, her toned calves running into thighs covered in a simple, black, five inch inseam short. You gulped inconspicuously, as your eyes quickly moved past her crotch. Surely, you were hallucinating that…bulge.
“Aw, so you can be helpful when you wanna be,” Ellie snickered, taking the bag away from you with such quickness that your arm was left hovering in the air. You shook your head slightly as if to shake the thoughts away, and dared to look her in the eyes once more.
“I sure do try my best,” you said, and it wasn’t meant to be bratty, it really wasn’t—but Ellie’s smirk quickly soured, and she huffed and slung the bag over her shoulder.
“Get me some water, will you?” She jutted her chin toward the cooler attached to the back of the cart, and you could only nod, instantly following her blunt command like you were a puppet on her string. What was she doing to you?
Ellie wasn’t always an asshole, you see. No, no, society made her this way. Have you ever noticed how rich kids aren’t friends with the poor ones, or vice versa? It’s because they can never find any middle ground, no similarities, no common interests. The kids going to public school were happy with a day trip to the city as a vacation; meanwhile, Ellie was missing weeks of her prissy private school education to fly halfway around the world on a business trip with her dad.
And now, she was a rich girl going to a pretentious university. But she didn’t like the fact that people saw her this way: an asshole with her nose always pointing up; getting clocked as a rich girl as soon as anyone with eyes looked at the way she was dressed; never knowing if someone liked her for her, instead of just for her money. People were going to look at her and see ‘rich, pretentious asshole’ painted on her forehead no matter what—so why not embrace it? Why not put on this stupid little act that everyone else in her social class seemed to?
And that’s where the soul-sucking began, Ellie realized. That’s how the bratty, entitled kids from her high school ended up just like their evil, entitled parents. She didn’t want to be this way. It just…happened.
Nevertheless, Ellie pulled the Nike-swooshed visor off of her head for a moment to run her fingers through her reddish-brown tresses, trying to shake away the heat of the sun. You couldn’t help but to let your eyes linger on the way her tattooed arm flexed as she did so, nearly tripping over your own feet as you brought her a completely unnecessary plastic bottle full of water.
“You know, they make reusable water bottles, nowadays,” you blurted out, your sarcasm taking over momentarily, the heat nearly making you forget where you were. You were at work. Of course rich people don’t care about using plastic water bottles. Ellie raised a curious brow, perfectly groomed with a small scar parting the arch. She didn’t even have to say anything—she just stood there, giving you that…look, and your eyes widened in surprise. She snatched the water bottle from your hand with such force that you flinched, the plastic crinkling almost louder than the sound of Tommy and Joel’s banter.
“I’m sorry, Miss,” you found yourself saying, eyes immediately falling to the ground. As she took a swig of water, Ellie couldn’t help but to notice this, and file it away in her brain for another time—the way she didn’t even have to say anything to you, and you were already so…
submissive.
“Don’t call me Miss,” she said simply as she screwed the cap back on. You nodded, folding your hands together in front of you before looking back up to catch her gaze.
“Yes, Ellie,” and her name came out like a drawl naturally…swear. The syllables rolled off your tongue and straight to your lower half, took you to a place so heavenly—your panties were growing wetter by the second, the press of your plush thighs getting tighter as you watched her expression. Her eyes darkened momentarily (or did she just squint at the sun?), and her posture shifted (maybe she got a cramp?). It was like she was trying to read your mind, and you were pretty sure she practically could as you watched her pretty pink tongue dart out to catch the wetness that remained on her lips—you found yourself salivating at the sight, having to quite literally force your jaw to stay closed.
She was an asshole, sure—but that doesn’t mean you still don’t want to fuck her.
“My clubs?” Ellie broke you out of your little fantasy by invading your presence, so close you were suddenly overwhelmed. She had set her clubs down in front of her when she took a drink of water, and it was now suddenly your job to hand them to her. “Do we need to clean out your ears or somethin’? Jesus.” She was shaking her head, feigning disappointment, and you stammered. No, no, you’ve never had an unsatisfied member and you weren’t going to start now. Especially not with Ellie. You felt the urge to please her, go above and beyond and make sure she never had to lift a finger—but she was scoffing and reaching to grab her clubs before you could get out another word.
“No, no, no Mi-” You caught yourself before you made yet another embarrassing mistake. For the second time. “Ellie. My apologies, I’ll follow you.” It was a bit proper, maybe a bit much…but you had to make it up to her, you had to. Whatever it takes.
“I want my driver first. You do know which one that is, right?” And she was nasty, voice laced with venom as she called over her shoulder. When did she start walking away? And should your pussy be throbbing over that? You didn’t even respond as you lugged her bag over your shoulder, trailing behind her to catch up to Tommy and Joel. They were still bantering away when you approached, cursing and laughing and hitting each other, like brothers do.
“Look who finally made it,” Ellie’s eyes rolled when you caught up, so quickly you almost missed it. You were like, fifteen steps behind her, there’s no way that was called for. You stayed silent as you unloaded the clubs off your shoulder, doing your best not to show any hint of negative emotion on your face, propping the bag up before pulling Ellie’s driver out. It was long, and heavy, like all the other expensive ones you’ve seen. All of her clubs looked shiny, you noted, like she had either never used them, or just got them polished. Either of which could be possible, as you’d yet to see her play. She grabbed it from you hastily, and you felt that familiar throb beneath your skirt. Get a fucking grip.
“Gotcha’ all set up here, kiddo,” Joel said enthusiastically, and Ellie didn’t even fake a smile. So, you just watched her take the shot. Boy, did you watch her take the shot.
Watched the way she got so serious—okay, somehow more serious than before—the way she shuffled her feet behind the tee as she lined up her shot, the way her arms flexed and veins popped as she straightened out her arms, prepping to take the swing. The way she took a split second to glance back while she rotated her body to shoot you the most sickeningly devious wink before sending the ball flying across the course.
Tommy whistled and Joel offered a few strong claps.
You couldn’t be quite sure that you wouldn’t melt into a puddle right here in the middle of the course. What is it about Ellie, your favorite member’s niece, that was getting you so worked up? For fucks sake, golf isn’t even a sexy sport! It couldn’t have at least been basketball, or something a bit more…normal that did it for you?
Instead, you got Ellie, in all her glory. Strong calves turned away from you as she watched her ball cut through the air, higher and faster and better than you’d ever seen Tommy or Joel hit. Not that they’d ever admit that.
Your thoughts were getting dirtier by the minute as you watched Ellie play. You felt like a baby deer following her around the course, knees wobbling every time she barked another command at you.
“Um, my water, please?”
“I said five iron, not six.”
“My ball is dirty. What ‘er you even good for?
You were slipping by the minute, letting your eyes linger over her frame a little longer each time you glanced her way. No way she wasn’t catching on.
“Take a fucking picture, Princess, it’ll last longer.”
Oops.
And when you pulled back up to the clubhouse, it took everything in you to not just run off. Your heart was beating out of your chest, panties completely ruined with your slick, oh my god you were fucking perverted. You carefully helped Tommy, Joel, and Ellie load up their gear into their respective cars, keeping your mouth shut so as to not squeak out an embarrassing sound. In fact, you couldn’t be quite sure you wouldn’t just moan out loud if Ellie so much as even glanced in your direction unprompted.
“Great game today, guys.” You smiled sweetly at Joel and Tommy who were now both leaned up against the side of the building, taking refuge from the sun.
“Well thank ya, sweetheart! Glad you got a chance to meet Ellie today, too,” Joel smiled at you, reaching out to squeeze at your shoulder. “Ellie, why don’t you say thank you to our lovely caddy girl today?” He didn’t use your name, because why would he? You were a convenience to them. Now that you thought about it, Ellie probably didn’t even know your name. Let alone care.
Her green eyes bore into you for a moment before she grunted out something that sounded suspiciously like a thank you, before tipping her head back to swallow the last of her water. The sight of her throat contracting had you practically running away to do something so devious, you might have to get down on your knees and pray before you went to sleep.
And Ellie was only human, after all. She was curious, about a lot of things. But more specifically? At this moment? She was wondering where you were scurrying off to. Of course, you weren’t as good about hiding what physical reactions you’d been having to her for the past hour as you thought—the way you’d squirm whenever she caught you staring at her, or how your mouth opened ever so slightly, ever so submissively when she berated you.
So wherever you were going must be good.
And oh, was it good.
Ellie couldn’t believe her eyes, as she trailed behind you. Each time you’d look back, she’d be sure to hide just perfectly out of your view around corners, behind tables….she couldn’t let you know how curious she was, no. Because you see, she was actually good about hiding these sorts of things. She was an asshole, but it wasn’t for no reason. She just couldn’t let you know how the sight of you practically drove her insane—the soft curve of your hips beneath that skirt, the rolls on your belly that led to the plush skin of your breasts that bounced so perfectly with every step you took. That would just ruin the fun of it. My god, were you a sight for Ellie’s sore eyes.
So now, Ellie watched as you were slipping into a supply closet. Okay…? Perhaps, you had just forgotten something, then. Needed to grab something for another member, or left your bag in there before you started your shift. Nothing interesting.
But no, Ellie was close enough now that you were safely behind the door, that she could hear the lock ‘click’ softly from inside the supply closet.
Oh. Oh— she thought.
And she couldn’t believe her ears, when she heard the faintest sigh. One that couldn’t be mistaken for anything other than relief.
And yeah, you were relieved.
You couldn’t take it anymore—the last hour you spent with Ellie was absolute torture. Letting her talk down on you, and treat you like you were nothing to her…it shouldn’t have turned you on. You should be upset, embarrassed, angry, furious even. But you were wet.
Holy fucking shit, you were wet. Your fingers trailed down your tummy as you leaned against the wall in the dark closet, barely illuminated by a tiny window at the top of one wall. Your breath was shaky, eyes closed as you lifted your short skirt, shoving your panties to the side before you felt the top of your fingers graze past your clit, sliding further and further in between your slick folds, so easily, so so easily.
“Oh!” you caught yourself gasping as you played with yourself, drawing your bottom lip between your teeth as a sickly, obscene wet sound began to fill the space of the small closet. This was so wrong…touching yourself at work, thinking about Ellie, so fucking desperate that you had to run away and relieve even just an ounce of the tension you felt inside.
It only got worse when all you could think about was Ellie’s long fingers, the way they gripped the golf clubs so tenderly, and how you wished so badly that you could replace yours with hers as they slipped inside of you. Your head fell back against the metal rack behind you, and you had no right mind to react to what should have been pain. Instead, you pictured Ellie standing in front of you, and how her eyes would darken with lust as she pressed her body against yours, her hot breath fanning across your face as she fucked her fingers up into you…
And Ellie was going crazy, couldn’t help herself from getting closer and closer to that supply closet door. There was no one in this wing of the club, surely no one would walk by and see her with her ear pressed against a supply closet door…right? It mostly didn’t matter, as something deranged and perverted was consuming her brain. She found herself quite literally pressed against the door, she couldn’t help herself, she had to hear the way you moaned softly and gasped while you worked yourself closer and closer to your release.
“Oh…oh Ellie!” You breathed wantonly, and Ellie could have cum on the spot. The wet sounds of your ministrations were getting faster and louder as your fingers pressed in and out of you with such force the rack behind you was beginning to rattle. Had you been in your right mind, you should have been mortified. You should have stopped right then and there, pulled yourself together and went home to the privacy of your own home and taken a long, cold shower. But all you could see was that stupid fucking smirk on Ellie’s face as she’d whisper:
Just fucking cum for me, baby.
And so you did, slapping your free hand over your mouth to muffle what surely would have been far too loud of a noise as you reached your peak, your body trembling almost violently as the high washed over you.
Ellie was positively reeling, her ear still pressed to the door almost comically as she listened to you come undone. If anyone were to walk by at this moment it would look utterly suspicious, her all alone in the long hallway, surely looking suspect in her current position. Not to mention she should probably pull away before you had a chance to swing the door open, as she would have absolutely no excuse as to what she was doing here.
Instead, Ellie continued to listen to your labored breaths as you came down, her pink lips parted softly as she felt her own wetness growing more and more unbearable beneath her shorts. Hell, had the purple silicone she had strapped to her hips been real, there would be absolutely no hiding what your sounds had done to her. She should move away, racing thoughts of oh my fucking god, and I wonder how easy it would be to make her sound like that again, but also to go back to Dad and go the fuck home, goddammit, this is absolutely sick, even for you and—
“Ellie?!”
She nearly fell forward from the weight of her body on the door when it swung inwards to reveal your absolutely mortified face, and even more terrified voice. Her eyes were like saucers, surely mirroring yours as you gaped at her, one hand still on the door to leave the possibility of slamming it right back in her face in humiliation. No, no no no no no way this was happening to you.
Ellie’s mouth opened and closed a few times as she staggered backwards in her surprise, leaving you both just staring each other down in what was surely the most awkward encounter either of you had ever had in your entire life. Her eyes quickly shifted downwards and she took another step back.
“I- I was just- yeah, okay. Bye.”
And she was gone.

Falling in Love on the Fourth Floor - Part 13
Pairing: Azriel x reader | WC: 1.8k | Warnings: none | Masterlist
Summary: Out of an act of desperation, you move in with a guy you kind of know who happens to have a really hot brother who lives next door.
Author's note: everyone say thank you to @sarawritestories for bullying me to get me to write and to @milswrites for the NEW HEADER LOOK IT'S SO PRETTY
Tumblr media
Ten minutes to the dot from getting to your door Azriel was walking into your apartment with a bowl of popcorn and several bags of candy. He brought chocolates, gummy worms, cookies, and several other sweets in the crook of his elbow, several being held by random fingers. You really weren’t sure how he was carrying it all.
In your absence he also changed into some black sweatpants and a black tee, his arms flexed with all the snacks in his hold. He looked great at mini golf, but now he looked attractive in such a different way.
“What are you doing?” He looked a bit ridiculous, as if he just raided a candy store. He looked even more ridiculous trying to toe his shoes off before making his way over to you.
“I know you don’t have food here.”
“Yes we do - Cassian was supposed to go grocery shopping yesterday!” You whip your head to the kitchen, as if you could see the inside of your pantry from where you sat. “Besides I ordered a pizza.”
He gives you a look, “Cassian’s version of grocery shopping is stopping at our apartment and taking what he wants.”
Your eyes widen, “no he does not! He said he goes to the store for food.”
He scoffs, setting down the candy and snacks on the table in front of you, lining them all up so you could see the label on each bag, “the store of Rhys and Az, maybe. A 24 hour convenience store Cassian has a lifetime membership to.”
You think back to all the times Cassian told you he was going grocery shopping, but you’re not sure if you ever did see him come back with bags of groceries. All the food and supplies just showed up. “Well, I’m sorry he does that. It does explain his luxurious tastes though…”
“It’s fine,” he says sitting next to you, your legs touching. “Rhys’s dad pays for the groceries, so..”
His sentence lingers as he shrugs his shoulders. “It’s what’s worked for us for a long time. Rhys couldn't care less. Actually I think he prefers getting to spend money on us.”
“So things with Rhys’s dad are weird?”
“Uh, yeah, I suppose. His dad sucks. Gives Rhys a- basically an unlimited credit card. Rhys has played with the limits on it before. We all know he’s rich, we just don’t know how rich. He’s spent a ridiculous amount of money on that card with no response. Once he bought all of ours and Cassian’s furniture in one trip - bought ridiculously priced shit too. Didn’t even blink over it.”
He scoops up a handful of popcorn, popping some into his mouth. “Well, all the furniture except their ridiculously sized tvs.”
You giggle, grabbing the bag of sour candies he brought and opening them, popping some in your mouth. “Mm, you’re too good to fall victim to their childish antics?”
“I’m more evolved than them.”
“So it was a different Azriel that Cassian was talking about going racing with him on some backroads a few weeks ago?”
A beat passes and he refuses to look at you, his eyes straight forward. “I think Cassian has face blindness.”
“Oh yeah, mhm.” You pick up the remote, scrolling to look through potential movies to watch. “Maybe we should get a decal for your bike so he won’t get confused again. I’m thinking of something that makes you seem distinguished.”
“Oh?”
“Something that makes you seem intimidating.”
“something scary?” His eyes dance with amusement, crinkling in contained joy.
“Something terrifying. So they know you’re a menace.”
You scroll through the movie options, Azriel’s arm making its way across the back of the couch behind you. He spreads his legs a bit, and you nestle into his shoulder as you put on Jurassic Park, picking a movie you’d be okay with missing some parts to it.
The two of you had watched at least three quarters of Jurassic Park, several parts of the movie missed because the two of you couldn’t keep from making out on your couch.
You watched the entire trilogy, staying up late with him. By the time the second movie came on, the two of you talked through most of it, until you’d reach the scenes with the pterodactyls in the third movie. Then you had forced your hands over his mouth, not letting him talk over your favorite scenes. Once you had pulled them away, he immediately dove on top of you, pushing you into the couch and nuzzling his face into your neck.
The two of you stayed up until somewhere around 3 AM, the third movie long forgotten as you asked him to stay the night. Nothing happened, except you did wake up the next morning with his arm slung around your waist, making it very tempting to completely ignore your alarm clock.
Unfortunately, Azriel had work to do, kissing your temple before he snuck back into his apartment to get dressed.
He had been gone for all of twenty seconds when your phone buzzed and he asked if you’d like to get coffee the next day before class. Your classes lined up at the same time each day, so you two would meet up at a local coffee shop in the morning. You’d park your car in the grocery store lot afterwards, Azriel holding out his spare helmet for you before helping put it on your head before he’d zip you two through campus, one of his hands always on your thigh.
The two of you would separate once he’d walk you to your classes, and then you’d meet back up at the library. It was a bit concerning to you how quickly the two of you fell into a routine, most of your free time of the week either spent with him or texting him.
“I got you something.”
You rummage through your bag when Azriel walks up to the table, his jacket being thrown onto one of the extra chairs. He sets down his helmet as you continue your search. You slide the envelope across the table, his scarred fingers touching yours as he grabs it from you. He opens the envelope, pulling out the note.
‘To be more menacing’ is written on pink stationary, a sticker falling from the paper. He picks it up, a smile on his face as he turns the sticker in his fingers, the cartoon goose with a knife in his mouth looking back at you.
His smile is captivating in the harsh lighting of the library, the LEDs making his skin several shades too light.
But it made his smile all the more blinding.
“Thank you,” he slips the sticker into his jacket pocket, sliding into the seat across from you.
He pulled out his laptop, his bag neat and tidy, a far cry from Cassian’s paper cluttered bag. You go back to reviewing your notes, as Azriel begins typing on his computer. The silence is comfortable between you two, and as you feel it start to settle, Azriel’s foot grazes your own, sticking itself between your crossed ankles.
You peer at him across the table, but his tortoiseshell glasses don’t move towards you, his computer screen reflecting through them to show he was working on some form of coding you had no desire to understand. You smile back down to your books, trying to get all your work finished before Friday, the six of you spending the weekend at Rhys’s dad’s lake house.
Cassian had been moaning and groaning for several weeks about wanting to go to the lake, but Rhys’s dad was having renovations done on the house and on the private dock until roughly two weeks ago. Since its completion, Cassian has been relentless, worming the word ‘lake’ into every conversation he’s had, not being very subtle about what he wanted.
Every morning he texted your group chat about his ‘cornfLAKEs’ or about how he just loves ‘snowfLAKEs’. He had just run out of words two days ago and now resorted to making up words that had ‘lake’ in them. Rhys immediately texted everyone to ‘please for the love of my sanity, be available this weekend or else I’m petitioning we murder Cassian’.
None of you wanted to be stuck doing any kind of work this weekend - Cassian and Azriel already had the weekend off, Mor and Feyre were free, and your plans revolved around the work and the man in front of you. All of you were desperate to finish any work that was due on Monday before the six of you left.
“So this weekend.”
He holds up a finger, typing furiously before he stops, looking up at you. He closes his laptop slightly, pushing it away from himself.
“This weekend.”
You put your chin in your hands, looking at his tan face. You loved seeing him wear his glasses - they made him look so endearing and soft. “Are we um going to tell anyone before we go? Besides Mor, obviously.”
You had texted Mor at some point during the second or third movie, asking her if she had mentioned your date to anyone. She had said no and that she’d be willing to keep it that way if you remembered to thank her profusely for ‘setting you up on the best date of your life’.
You had agreed, but now this left you with a bit of a dilemma - when do you tell everyone? Does he want to tell everyone?
“You don’t understand how annoying they can get when it comes to my love life.”
You giggled, certain you could figure it out based on how nosey and meddling Cassian was.
He clears his throat, “besides I’d like to figure things out with you before they know. I don’t want them to scare you off.”
You laughed, “I walked in on Cassian trimming his toenails the other night. I think anything worse than that violates the Geneva convention.”
His smile is bright as he watches you giggle at your own joke. “How about this,” his hands move across the table, laying them palm up so you can sit yours into them. Your fingers lightly trace the lines on his palms as his voice picks up again. “I’ll take you out for lunch tomorrow, and it will be the official end of things… until we get back.”
You raise your brows, but he’s not finished. “Obviously, not really the end of things. But just.. We’ll come back from lunch as the people we were last week. Before mini golf.”
Your voice is a bit unsteady as you ask, “do you want to stay those people? The before mini golf versions of ourselves?”
“No.” His reply is fast, voice full of conviction.
“You’re not just saying this because Rhys’s lake house has a hot housekeeper, are you?”
He blows out his lips, laughing at your waggling eyebrows, “Sonya’s been about eighty years old for the past fifteen years.” His fingers quickly snatch yours, holding them tightly. “So she’s perfect for me.”
You throw your head back, about to laugh, but he pulls your fingers forward, bringing you in for a soft kiss you can’t help but giggle through.

How do we feel about mini golf. Does it have an acceptable amount of whimsy? What about if it goes by it's alias "putt-putt"? Is that a wide enough deviation from its criminal predecessor Golf, or is it simply "sins of the father" and also criminal?
Excellent question!! The legality of mini golf (by any name) is actually determined on a course-by-course basis! In order for a mini golf course to avoid criminalization it must comply with all of the following requirements:
A non-grass alternative must be used for the landscaping/flooring of each hole. Carpet or felt is recommended.
Indoor courses must be themed after the ocean, space, or something similarly silly. The use of differing themes for each hole is preferred.
All outdoor courses must contain at least one windmill.
Clubs may be available in several sizes but must all have funny colored grip tape.
Personal golf tees are forbidden, each hole must be equipped with a platform or other such device from which to begin play. Devices need not be in functional condition.
Some amount of cheating must be permitted. While the specific actions which are considered permissible may be determined independently by each course, the following actions must always be allowed: safe and reasonable physical contact with the intent of disrupting play; do-overs of strokes which can be successfully argued to have been totally bogus; and children under 7 can do anything they want
The general atmosphere of the course must be accurately describable as either "whimsical" or "funky"

The way certain (tone deaf) actors are promoting ‘It Ends with Us’ makes me sick to my stomach.
I don’t care for Colleen Hoover’s writing so I had no idea what the book/movie was about. I started seeing interviews/promos on TikTok and thought it looked like a cutesy romcom type movie.
Then I saw the scene where she’s in the hospital with teeth marks and realized it’s about domestic abuse. There was a comment stating, “are those bite marks? 🤔” like it’s unheard of.
A Little Bit Stronger is “dedicated” to my sister, and I think it’s time to tell her story (with her permission).
TW: physical/sexual/domestic abuse below.
In March of 2012, my sister left her husband seemingly out of the blue. Sure, they squabbled and fought, but most married couples do. She didn’t give much of a reason, other than she didn’t love him anymore.
Things got ugly fast. He accused her of cheating, he would tell their kids all kinds of terrible things about her when he had them, etc.
I married my husband in June of 2012 and when my sister got home that night from the reception, her ex was waiting for her. She had been keeping “evidence” (printed texts, emails, receipts, etc.) in her vehicle because she knew he still had keys to the house. He ripped the keys from her, took her records and got into his car. She leaned in through the open car window and he took off with her hanging out of it.
He hit her several times before biting her arm to get her to let go, leaving a baseball-sized, dark purple bruise. She had to tell her kids she got hit by a golf club (she worked at a country club at the time).
I found out about this incident a week later when I got back from my honeymoon. I also found out that he had been beating her for several months and that’s why she originally left him, but was too embarrassed to tell anyone.
She went to court to get a restraining order but the judge did not grant one, saying each party was in the wrong.
Things continued to escalate (not physically but the police were called several times) and she was finally granted a no contact/restraining order.
6 weeks after my wedding, I got a call from my mom at 7 in the morning that my sister was in the hospital.
Her ex (who was drunk) had broken into her house through the basement window (where her bedroom was) and proceeded to beat the living shit out of her, choked her and ripped off her sleep shorts and sexually assaulted her.
My nephew (7 years old at the time) heard the commotion and came downstairs. Her ex yelled at him to get a knife. Being 7, he brought down a butter knife, not knowing what the reason was.
Her ex followed my nephew upstairs to get a different knife and my sister was able to make it outside to the neighbors house. She pounded on the door, naked except her tee shirt.
Her neighbor let her in and called the police. She was inconsolable as her kids were still inside.
The police arrived shortly after and there was blood and shattered glass everywhere-he had smashed a mirror over his head in a rage.
After a 4-hour long standoff with the police, he finally surrendered. One of the officers told my sister if the children hadn’t been upstairs with him, they would’ve shot and killed him.
He was found guilty of: strangulation, battery, and false imprisonment.
He was found NOT guilty of: second degree sexual assault (because none of his DNA was found in/on her genitalia or her ripped shorts), criminal damage to property (a specialized cleaning coming had to come in and clean due to it being biohazardous with the amount of blood. Her homeowners insurance covered it but it cost over $5,000).
He wasn’t even charged with attempted murder when he had every intention of killing her.
He served only 9 years in prison.
She’ll sleep with one eye open for the rest of her life.
So hearing the leading actress say, “grab your girlfriends, wear your florals” to watch a movie about domestic violence is beyond insensitive.
I don’t know where I was going with this but yeah.

TIMING: Mid may
LOCATION: Portland country club PARTIES: Alan and Siobhan @banisheed SUMMARY: Alan wants to have a nice afternoon. Siobhan wants to have a nice afternoon. CONTENT WARNINGS: n/a
Everyone who golfed thought they were better than the people that didnt, that was a fact of golf. It was another fact of golf that Siobhan was bad at it. Which was partially why Siobhan loved golf. She also loved it for the stupidity, the several different sticks of varying sizes that she never understood, the fact that humans couldn’t be bothered to maintain green spaces unless it was for some sport, and, of course, the tiny carts she could ram into people. Being bad at the sport, for obvious lack of trying, meant that men often approached her to help. In the end she had them curled up in a puddle of their own tears; promise bound to help her and finally succumbed to the realization that she was never going to get any better or sleep with them and that they were stuck here, with her. Usually though, it didn’t happen so quickly. “Oh, come on, Greg.” She poked the man curled on the ground with her putter. “Don’t be such a baby about it. You’re the one that promised to help.” Prodding his gut earned her a few more wails. Siobhan sighed, this was boring. Her attention turned back to the length of the range: empty mostly except for the dark silhouette teeing up. Another person to bother. She jabbed the putter at Greg again. “Yeah, yeah, I release you from all your promises to me. Crack on then, Greg.” Greg didn’t move. Siobhan assumed he’d be fine. She picked up her clubs and ran down the range.
There was a piece of actual golf that Siobhan did enjoy. Of course, it was her own variation of the sport that she’d devised in her head: hit humans with golf balls. When she was playing hit-humans-with-golf-balls she was the best at it. Taking a ball out of her golf bag, she squeezed it firm in her palm as she ran down, waiting until she was close enough to swing her arm back and throw. The ball took a perfect arc right into the stranger’s back. “Oh, I’m sorry!” she called out immediately after. “Look at me! Such a klutz; I never know how to hit with these things.” She gestured to the clubs in her golf back. “Do you mind if I tee up with you?” Today would be a good day of hit-humans-with-golf-balls.
Alan had picked up golfing after a particularly unpleasant encounter with a guy who used to be in the Year book club during their senior year and claimed that anyone who couldn't golf clearly hadn't made it. It was before he started his business. Ten year reunion. The horror. He hadn't attended the one for twenty years since graduation day, mainly because at that point, it was clear to Alan that didn't want to be the sort of person who cared for living in the past. He had left that to people who peaked in high school. In the meantime, Alan however had grown fond of the sport, and had been going to the local golf course every fortnight.
He was picking one of his wooden clubs when a sharp pain on his shoulder brought him out of his stream of consciousness. A sharp ow escaped his lips and the man turned around to look in the direction of the woman's voice. Great. Another one of those.
He gave her a smile that looked like a grimace and turned his back on her, waving all that happened off with a brush of his hand. Hopefully, she'd stop in her track and find someone more interested. Instead she walked closer, asking him if she could join. Come on, this was his day off. "Fine." He cleared his throat and adjusting his stance, set the ball down on the tee before launching it far across the freeway. His eyesight might have been sharp, he'd have to walk a little to see precisely where it landed. Still he was mostly happy with his swing.
Silent as ever, he gave a look at the woman, moving aside as if to invite her to take his place.
Maybe this man was good at golf, Siobhan didn’t know. She was distracted by all the places she imagined hitting him with a golf ball: the temple, the shins, the ass, maybe one right between the eyes if the day went well for them. Should she hit him with the clubs too? Oh, but she’d killed a few people that way in the 80s; she couldn’t do a repeat. It was more fun to treat the stranger like target practice. Blunt force trauma with golf clubs was easy and trite. She skipped to the place he had once been, setting up the tee for her shot. “Do you golf here often?” She asked casually, the chipper lilt in her tone being indicative of her mischievous glee but passable for friendliness instead. She took out one of the thick clubs meant for distance, taking her stance at an angle that would be peculiar for anyone playing golf. But Siobhan wasn’t playing golf. “I haven’t seen you here before.” She tightened her grip on the club. “Are you any good at golf? I’m just horrid at it.” She swung; another clean shot. The ball whipped through the air, shooting into the man’s shin. What’d they call that? A hole in one? Siobhan smirked. “Oh no!” She wasn’t doing a very good job of pretending to be shocked. “I’m so sorry! See, that’s just what I was saying about my golf skills!”
“No, I don’t,” he did. Every fortnight, but he didn't want her to entertain the idea that this occurrence might become a recurrence. "Not good, not bad," with a shrug, Alan turned his back on her which was truly his sole mistake.
A sharp pain in his leg was all the man needed to realize this.
"¿¡Pendeja, que mierda te pasa ?!" He couldn't bite the insults back, nor the look of absolute anger in his eyes as he turned to look at her and her faux air of shock. Then it dawned on him. She must have been hired by someone to ruin his day. He might have ruined a few lives after all. Fair. Well played, he thought, while a smile etched itself onto his lips. Now that he knew what this was about, Alan could probably get something out of it.
"I've seen worse. In fact, it's rather impressive, considering…" he trailed off, leaving her time to think about it, about what he might imply here. "Well, I just think you're really brave about it, you know." This said, he gave her another smile, sympathetic as ever, and put his club back in its bag. Slinging it over his shoulder, the man began walking over to where the ball might have dropped.
Some people were fun to harass, they gave Siobhan a lot to work with. Other people, like this man, clearly just wanted to be left alone. It made annoying them very easy; she guessed that she’d bother him just by breathing too close to his face. He seemed like a sensible man, a normal man that just wanted to golf. Unfortunately, he was Siobhan's victim for the day. However, the thing about people that wanted to be left alone was that they were boring. The best she might get out of him was a ‘fuck off’ and ‘fuck off’s for someone like Siobhan were two a penny. She got ‘fuck off’s even when she wasn’t trying (she refused to entertain why that happened; entertaining it usually made her sad). She wanted more. She wanted his day so horribly ruined that when he thought of her face, he thought of it with the vitriolic anger reserved for people who litter, or whatever the equivalent for human sensibilities was. People who don’t clean their murder knives? Siobhan didn’t know.
“Brave about it?” Siobhan opened her mouth to say more but he was already off, walking down the range. She hadn’t even earned her ‘fuck off’. “Wait!” She chased him down, coming up beside him. “I just feel so bad about hurting you!” Her skin flared for the lie and she swatted her arms as if mosquitoes had been swarming. “Please, how can I make it up to you?” She reached into his bag and pulled out two golf clubs. “What if I got these warmed up for you?” Siobhan began swinging them around wildly in the air as she chased after her prey. Hopefully, one would just hit him. “I could use some golf pointers, you seem really skilled.”
“Really? You didn’t seem so…” Alan stopped himself. No, he had to pretend that he didn’t know she was hired to annoy him. She started scratching herself and the thought of scabies quickly made its way to his brain. How many times did his mother tell him not to go anywhere near people who scratched themselves? It’s contagious, mijo, she’d say, clinging onto his small hand to ensure no mishaps. But he hadn’t seen anyone with scabies in years and had forgotten about that event until now. “Hold up, stay right where you are.”
If he wasn’t going to insult her further by letting her know why he didn’t want her anywhere near me, he was also not happy with letting her think it was hitting him that did the trick. He had it worse every month. “You don’t have to make it up to me. Just… Stop following me around and we’ll be just fine,” he tried to scoot away while she reached for his bag, but she was swifter than him. Heh, those only cost $300 a piece, it wasn’t such a terrible loss. Yes it was. But it also wasn’t. “I suggest you go to the training range, and leave the green for more skilled folks, alright?”
Siobhan didn’t mean to obey him, but the suddenness of his voice caught her off guard and, just as he said, she stayed right where she was. “What?” She stared at him. “Why do you want to send me away? I’m just here to learn how to play golf from someone I admire as much as you.” Another lie. Siobhan swatted at her arms as her hives kicked up again. She scratched at her skin, moving closer. “Don’t you want to be a kind man and help a woman out?” She swung around the clubs again, finding that she was getting into a groove about it. It was a little like an interpretive dance: two swings to the left, three to the right, separate the sticks and flourish. In another world, it could have been a golfer mating call. “Look at me….I’m so helpless…” she tried to flutter her eyelashes at him. “....I need a big strong golf man to teach me how to golf.” She approached him slowly, hoping to get in closer for a hit or seven.
“Why?” Remember Alan, she’s here to ruin your day, don’t let her get the satisfaction. “Because that’s where you’ll find a lot of guys who are way too eager to help the poor damsel in distress,” who, if she was not sent here specifically to piss him off, was looking for someone stupid enough to marry her without a prenup.
He took a step back as she started swinging furiously the golf clubs around. Someone, him, was going to lose an eye if she didn’t stop that. “Will you stop behaving like a windmill for a second?” Wait. What in the romcom hell was going on here?
“Can you spare me your Notting Hill slash Harry meets Sally nonsense? I’m just trying to enjoy my day off and I’m extremely gay and uninterested.”
Oh, but the eager guys were exactly the ones Siobhan wanted. Eagerness was the perfect way to trap someone into promises they never wanted to keep. An eager man will agree to everything up to a certain point and she’d won a lot that way; a car, another car, a house, thousands of dollars, a newborn baby once but she returned that to the far more responsible mother and urged her to seek divorce. “Oh? You don’t like my waving?” She grinned. “Okay.” She threw his clubs as far away as she could, watching them spin and fly through the air before their eventual plummet. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Siobhan turned back around. “My name isn’t Sally. Or Harry. Or Nottinghill.”
But it was his admission that gave Siobhan pause. It was certainly a lot harder to trick someone into giving her a car when they weren’t interested in her, but it wasn’t impossible. Her approach needed to be adjusted. “My condolences,” she started, “for the fact that you like men; men are terrible. I assume dating in Maine is like wading through a swamp of men who show off their big fish and men who want you to try their artisanal butter. The pickings are…” She gestured around the golf club which featured its own array of Maine locals: mostly older men who refused to admit they were never good at golf to begin with. “…slim.” She dropped her hand. “I have to suffer with this too. Do you think women come to this range? No. Absolutely not. I would love to do this with a woman instead.” She wouldn’t even take her hypothetical car. “But no, I get old men. I understand that there are those applications for dating inside of your phone—the tinder and the grinder and what have you—but I can't imagine the choices are really that much better.”
“Really?” Well it wasn’t like she was going to break them but the walk of shame that would follow isn’t one he was eager for. If he’d been doing quite a good job at controlling his face so far, realizing that she hadn’t seen the hit classics Notting Hill and When Harry Meets Sally brought out his most outraged expression just yet. How dare you, he mouthed out to himself.
While he went to pick up the golf clubs she’d just thrown away, Alan thankfully no longer had to hide his reactions to her nonsense, so much that he forgot not to chortle as she offered her condolences. What in the unhinged hell? “Are you seriously suggesting men wanting to offer me food is the worst that can happen? It’s not,” he put a hand on his hip and turned to look at her, “I’d rather that than men in graphic tees and men capris, thank you very much,” there was actually something attractive about a guy who knew how to fend for himself, which clearly wasn’t the case for the latter mentioned men. “I sometimes come with my sister,” but his sister had been off the dating scene for a bit, and just gave Alan a new niece for him to spoil. “Oh you really don’t want to try those apps. These people only want to get in bed and leave before breakfast,” how could you do that? He couldn’t fathom leaving the house on an empty stomach. Appalling. “You’d get along with one of my friends,” friend was a broad word to call his neighbor, but he figured Xochitl could get along with this woman, he had no doubt about it. She was friendly enough, but she didn’t let people walk on her toes.“She wouldn’t be caught dead posing with a fish either,” he put away the golf clubs and picked one to hit his ball closer to the hole. “I really wish you didn’t hit me though. I’d happily introduce you to her otherwise.”
Siobhan watched, a little stunned, as the man went after his clubs. She was convinced they’d be a lost cause. And as he went on, something less sinister clicked inside her head. The sort of thing that clicked when someone was being interesting enough that she didn’t feel the need to stab them to make the fun. Siobhan approached him. “You’re a romantic,” she said, stating it as if she’d known him all his life. “That is, at least, a very romantic outlook to have. I never said I was looking for a partner.” Could she argue? Perhaps she wasn’t entirely interested in romance, it always seemed to pass her like a train she just missed, but she was a romantic in every sense as well. She grew up to her grandmother’s poetry about death and read Austen by candlelight; some romance was simply baked into her core. “Or maybe you just really like food,” she conceded, realizing there was another explanation to his words. But was the act of feeding someone a meal crafted by one’s own two hands not a little romantic? It all circled back.
As he went on about his friend, Siobhan considered it. Not about having a friend, she didn’t care to, but if some woman was bemoaning the lack of good candidates then she assumed there was a plush bed she could fall into. But, no, she’d come here on a mission: she was going to bother men until the dull and constant ache over how much she hated herself subsided for that singular moment in time where she could feel superior to the puddle she reduced someone to. She didn’t care about meeting someone else, some hypothetical force she might— “Is she hot?” Siobhan’s curiosity got the better of her. “Oh, get over yourself. If you had to golf all day you’d want to hit people too. This sport is nonsensical.”
“You look desperately like someone who is looking for a 5th husband,” the kind of woman who hadn’t taken off the pins from her bridal chignon yet that she had already slipped on a form fitting black dress for the funeral of her husband who died such a tragic, accidental, unexpected death. He gave her a sympathetic look. Though Alan hadn’t lost any of his husbands to the reaper, he didn’t particularly feel like it would be just to judge her for it (especially since he was simply judging a book by its cover here). He made a living exploiting people’s weaknesses. If most of his deals were sealed without him using tricks, Alan knew that he wouldn’t have been as successful if he had let other realtors walk over him. That would be unacceptable. “I do like food though, cooking for others too,” he pointed out. Alan wasn’t the sort for grand gestures. He wouldn’t cover you in presents, but he’d make you dinner, make sure you had everything you needed to be comfortable and check on you regularly.
“Xochitl?” Alan might have not felt a thing for women, he was born with two eyes who worked very well. “She’s beautiful,” the kind of person that made heads turn. Whether she could give that woman a run for her money was to be determined but Alan figured he might have his revenge here. “Actually, I might give her your name and phone number,” he also would subscribe with a good number of newsletters with said phone number, though she didn’t need to find out yet how petty Alan could be. “I’m Alan, by the way,” he held out his hand for her to shake. “Though if I do that, I expect you won’t disturb my days at the golf course ever again.”
Siobhan’s nose crinkled. Yes, the ‘ready for the fifth husband who will also mysteriously die’ was both the vibe she hoped to give off and also the one she was aware that she did. If she was ever going to get married, it would be to a string of men who all met early deaths. Preferably they’d have a lot of money, but Siobhan wasn’t so picky—she would murder a poor man too. Still, it wasn’t nice when someone pointed it out to her. “And you look like someone on their third divorce,” she replied. Something about golf attracted sad people, in Siobhan’s mind. There was something humiliating about chasing a tiny white ball down and then just guessing at where it landed. It was something only a thrice divorced man could appreciate. “You can’t seduce someone with food,” she said, knowing that if someone presented her with a full cake, she would probably think about sleeping with them. “What do you do? Wave potatoes around?”
Siobhan’s nose crinkled again; this conversation was slowly approaching friendly. She didn’t come here to be friendly. Somehow, in fact, Alan seemed to be striking a deal with her: the number and name of some lonely attractive friend of his for her granting him the peace of golfing alone. Siobhan didn’t like it but clearly her golf violence was getting her nowhere. She ought to cut her losses and see if his friend was more fun to harass. “I’m not making any long-term promises,” she said, “and I’m not agreeing to that deal.” She reached out and shook his hand. “But for today, I will leave you alone if you provide me with her number. Agreed?” She paused. “And I’m Siobhan, by the way.”
“Second,” he corrected her, and finally granted her an honest smile. The idea that he could wave potatoes around even made him scoff although he didn’t reward her with a response. Wave potatoes around. That’s ridiculous. She was quite ridiculous, yes. But she was no longer harassing him. All he had to do was make her feel important, huh? And so he didn’t comment further on that, offering her a friendly smile instead.
“That’s alright.” He knew what she smelled like, Dior, the countryside and something rich. He could avoid her if she decided to show up at the golf course again. It wouldn’t be too difficult. She, however, didn’t need to know that.
“Very well. I can do that,” he just needed to find it in the HOA What’s App. They hadn’t precisely been on a phone number sharing basis, but that was fine, right? He just needed to let her know that a Siobhan would reach out to her, and that she was just a poor old widow looking for company in those trying times, right? “Are you ready to take notes?”
“Well, are you looking to get divorced a third time because I can set you up with someone,” Siobhan said, whipping out her phone. “Take notes?” She blinked. “Yeah, right. Whatever. Crack on. I hope she’s more fun than you.” After entering the woman’s details in, she stuffed it back into her pocket and stared at Alan. He had agreed to leave him alone for the day and while he wasn’t the man she needed, or the man she wanted, or the man who would let her hit him indefinitely with golf balls, he was the man who had given her a new fixation. She waved at him, offering one last smile before she turned to leave for good. Xóchitl, whoever she was, probably would be more entertaining than Alan.
And if she wasn’t, Siobhan would just hit her with golf balls too.

What should I consider when beginning to golf and buying golf clubs?
Starting golf can be an exciting journey, offering both challenges and rewards! Here are several key factors to consider when beginning to golf and buying your first set of clubs:
1. Understanding Your Needs
Skill Level: As a beginner, you’ll want golf clubs that are more forgiving and easier to hit. Clubs designed for higher handicappers often feature larger clubheads and more perimeter weighting, which can help with off-center hits.
Frequency of Play: Think about how often you plan to play. If you’re just starting and only playing occasionally, a more budget-friendly set might be sufficient. However, if you plan to play regularly, investing in quality clubs could be worthwhile.
2. Types of Clubs
Driver: This club is used for long-distance shots off the tee. Look for a driver with a larger clubhead and a higher loft, as these features help make the ball easier to hit and get airborne.
Irons: Irons are typically used for approach shots and come in various numbers. Beginners might benefit from cavity-back irons, which offer a larger sweet spot and more forgiveness on off-center hits. A basic set usually includes 6-iron through 9-iron and a pitching wedge.
Wedges: Wedges are crucial for short-game shots and chipping around the greens. A pitching wedge and a sand wedge are good starting points. As you advance, you might consider adding more specialized wedges like a lob wedge.
Putter: The putter is essential for finishing holes. Choose a putter that feels comfortable in your hands and matches your putting style. There are various designs, such as blade or mallet putters, each offering different benefits.
3. Club Fitting
Length: Ensuring that the clubs are the right length for your height and swing style is crucial. Clubs that are too long or too short can affect your swing and overall comfort.
Grip Size: The size of the grip can impact your control and comfort. Grips come in various sizes, so choose one that feels right in your hands. A proper grip size can help prevent fatigue and improve accuracy.
Flexibility: The shaft’s flexibility (stiff, regular, or senior) should match your swing speed. Beginners typically benefit from regular or senior flex shafts, which provide more distance and accuracy for slower swing speeds.
4. Budget
Set vs. Individual Clubs: Decide whether to buy a complete set or individual clubs. Complete sets are often more economical and provide a good starting point for beginners. As you advance, you might want to add or replace specific clubs.
New vs. Used: Used clubs can be a cost-effective way to start. Just make sure they are in good condition. Many golf shops offer used clubs that are still in excellent shape, providing great value for beginners.
5. Try Before You Buy
Demo Days: Visit local golf shops or courses that host demo days. These events allow you to try different clubs and find what feels comfortable and suits your game before making a purchase.
Rent Clubs: If possible, rent clubs at the course to get a feel for different types before committing to a purchase. This can help you understand what features you prefer.
6. Brand and Quality
Reputable Brands: Look for well-known brands that offer beginner-friendly options. Brands like Callaway, TaylorMade, and Titleist have a range of clubs designed for beginners.
Quality: Invest in decent-quality clubs that can enhance your learning experience. While high-end clubs might not be necessary at first, ensure that the clubs you choose are well-made and reliable.
7. Learning and Improvement
Lessons: Consider taking lessons from a professional instructor. Early guidance can help you develop a solid swing and avoid common mistakes. Lessons can significantly improve your technique and enjoyment of the game.
Practice: Regular practice is essential for improving your skills. Spend time at the driving range and putting green to become more comfortable and confident with your clubs.
8. Accessories
Golf Bag: Choose a golf bag that suits your style and is comfortable to carry. There are various options, including stand bags and cart bags, each offering different features and conveniences.
Balls: As a beginner, start with lower-cost balls designed for distance and forgiveness. These balls can help you achieve better results and improve your game without breaking the bank.
Summary
Starting with the right equipment can greatly enhance your golfing experience. Focus on comfort, ease of use, and affordability while considering your specific needs and preferences. To make your shopping experience even easier, consider Golfism as your one-stop shop for golf clubs. Golfism offers a wide range of brands and options, ensuring you find the perfect clubs to suit your needs. Having a stylish ball marker adds a personal touch to your game and ensures that you’re playing by the rules.

A clean clubface and ball can significantly affect your shot, making a towel a must-have in any golf accessories set.
Golf Bag
While technically not part of the accessories, the golf bag is crucial for organizing and carrying your gear. Additionally, donations aid in providing essential services such as housing support and medical care. Accessing these resources allows veterans to focus on healing rather than worrying about basic needs. This kind of security is invaluable for those who have sacrificed so much.

Tailoring Your Golf Gear: How to Select the Perfect Clubs for Your Game
Choosing the right golf clubs can dramatically improve your performance on the course. The variety of clubs available might seem overwhelming, but understanding the essentials can help you make informed decisions. This guide will help you navigate the critical factors in selecting golf clubs that match your playing style and elevate your game.
Evaluating Your Game Style and Skill Level
Before selecting your golf clubs, it’s essential to evaluate your game style and skill level. Are you a beginner who needs forgiving clubs or an experienced player seeking precision and control? Knowing your strengths and weaknesses will guide you in choosing clubs that enhance your natural abilities and address areas needing improvement.
The Basics: Understanding Different Types of Golf Clubs
Golf clubs are categorized into several types, each designed for specific shots and distances.
These categories include drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, and putters.
Drivers: Used for long-distance tee shots, drivers have the largest clubheads and lowest lofts, maximizing distance off the tee.
Fairway Woods: These clubs are ideal for long shots from the fairway or rough. They have smaller clubheads than drivers and higher lofts.
Hybrids: Hybrids combine elements of wood and irons, providing the distance of wood with the accuracy of irons.
Irons: Irons are used for a variety of shots, from long approaches to short chips. They are numbered based on loft, with lower numbers for longer shots and higher numbers for shorter, more precise shots.
Wedges: Wedges are specialized irons with high lofts used for short approach shots, chips, and bunker play. Types include pitching wedges, sand wedges, and lob wedges.
Putters: Designed for use on the green, putters are crucial for accuracy and control when rolling the ball into the hole.
Choosing the Right Driver for Your Game
The driver is essential for tee shots, setting the stage for your play on each hole. When choosing a driver, consider these factors:
Loft: The loft of the driver affects the ball’s trajectory and distance. Beginners may benefit from higher lofts (10.5 to 12 degrees) for greater control, while advanced players might prefer lower lofts (8 to 10.5 degrees) for maximum distance.
Shaft Flex: The shaft’s flexibility influences accuracy and distance. Match the shaft flex to your swing speed: regular flex for moderate swings and stiff flex for faster swings.
Clubhead Size and Weight: Larger clubheads offer more forgiveness and a more prominent sweet spot, which is ideal for beginners. Advanced players may opt for smaller, heavier clubheads for better control and precision.
Fairway Woods and Hybrids: Versatility and Performance
Fairway woods and hybrids are crucial for long shots from the fairway or rough. Here’s what to look for:
Fairway Woods: Choose fairway woods with lofts between 15 and 18 degrees for a balance of distance and control. These clubs are versatile for various situations.
Hybrids: Hybrids can replace long irons, offering a higher launch angle and more forgiving performance. They are beneficial for players who struggle with consistency using long irons.
Iron Sets: Finding the Right Balance
Irons are essential for approach shots and play around the green. Consider these factors when choosing irons:
Set Composition: Irons are typically sold in sets, ranging from 3-iron to pitching wedge. Beginners might start with a set that includes a 5-iron pitching wedge, while advanced players might customize their sets with additional irons or hybrids.
Shaft Material: Iron shafts are made from steel or graphite. Steel shafts offer greater control and are preferred by many advanced players. Graphite shafts are lighter and can help increase swing speed, making them suitable for beginners.
Clubhead Design: Irons come in various designs, including cavity-back, muscle-back, and game improvement. Cavity-back irons offer more forgiveness and are ideal for beginners. Muscle-back irons provide better control and feedback for advanced players.
Enhancing Your Short Game with the Right Wedges
Wedges are crucial for precise shots around the green and out of bunkers. When choosing wedges, consider:
Types of Wedges: The main types of wedges are pitching wedges, sand wedges, lob wedges, and gap wedges. Each type has a specific loft and is designed for particular shots. Having a variety of wedges can cover different scenarios on the course.
Bounce Angle: The bounce angle affects how the wedge interacts with the turf. Higher bounce angles are suitable for soft turf and bunkers, while lower bounce angles are better for firm turf and tight lies.
Grind: The grind refers to the shaping of the wedge’s sole. Different grinds offer varying levels of versatility and playability. Experiment with different grinds to find one that complements your playing style.
Perfecting Your Putting with the Ideal Putter
The putter is arguably the most important club in your bag, as it’s used on almost every hole. When selecting a putter, consider:
Putter Type: Putters come in various styles, including blade, mallet, and peripheral-weighted. Blades are traditional and offer excellent control, while mallets provide more forgiveness and stability.
Length: The length of your putter should suit your posture and putting style. Standard lengths range from 33 to 35 inches, but it’s essential to choose a length that feels comfortable and allows for a smooth stroke.
Alignment Aids: Many putters feature alignment aids to help you aim accurately. Choose a putter with alignment features that enhance your confidence and consistency on the green.
The Value of Custom Fitting
One of the best ways to ensure you have the right clubs is to undergo a custom fitting. Professional club fitting analyzes your swing characteristics, such as swing speed, launch angle, and ball flight, to recommend clubs tailored to your specific needs. Custom fitting can optimize your performance by ensuring each club in your bag is the correct length, weight, and flex for your game.
Investing in Your Golf Journey
Selecting the right golf clubs is a crucial investment in your golfing journey. By understanding your playing style and considering factors such as loft, shaft flex, and clubhead design, you can choose clubs that enhance your strengths and address your weaknesses. The goal is to find clubs that complement your natural swing and improve your overall performance on the course. Whether you’re a beginner seeking forgiveness or an experienced player looking for precision, the proper set of golf clubs can make all the difference in your golfing experience.

Keppel Club - Junior Golfing Success: Tips for Parents and Coaches in Singapore
Junior golfing is an effective way for children to develop physical skills and coordination and instils critical values such as discipline, patience, and sportsmanship. For parents and coaches in Singapore looking to support their young golfers' success, it's essential to provide the appropriate guidance and encouragement.
Let’s discuss some valuable tips and strategies for fostering junior golfing success, including finding the appropriate lessons, creating a supportive environment, and nurturing a passion for the game.
Tumblr media
Finding the Right Junior Golf Lessons in Singapore
One of the first steps in supporting junior golfing success is finding effective golf lessons for kids in Singapore. Look for programs specifically designed for young golfers, with experienced instructors who specialise in teaching children. These lessons should focus on fundamental skills such as grip, stance, and swing mechanics, while also incorporating fun and engaging activities to keep kids motivated and enthusiastic about the game.
Choosing the Right Equipment
Investing in the right equipment is essential for junior golfers to develop their skills effectively. Ensure your child has clubs that are the right size and weight for their age and height. Many golf stores in Singapore offer junior-sized clubs and equipment designed specifically for young players. Additionally, consider investing in other essential gear such as golf shoes, gloves, and a golf bag to help your child feel comfortable and confident on the course.
Creating a Supportive Environment
Creating a supportive and encouraging environment is crucial for junior golfers to thrive. Parents and coaches should focus on positive reinforcement and praise, rather than criticism or pressure. Encourage your child to set achievable goals and celebrate their progress and achievements. Additionally, foster a sense of camaraderie and teamwork by encouraging your child to participate in junior golf clinics or teams where they can learn from and bond with other young golfers.
Nurturing a Passion for the Game
Nurturing a passion for the game is vital to long-term success in junior golfing. Help your child develop a love for golf by exposing them to the sport in fun and engaging ways. Take them to watch professional golf tournaments, play miniature golf together, or practice putting in the backyard. Encourage your child to explore different aspects of the game and find what they enjoy most, whether it's driving off the tee, chipping onto the green, or sinking putts. Enrolling your child in junior golf lessons in Singapore can also provide structured learning and foster their enthusiasm for the sport.
Setting Realistic Expectations
While it's natural to want your child to excel in golf, it's essential to set realistic expectations and focus on their overall development and enjoyment of the game. Not every junior golfer will become a professional player, and that's okay. Instead, focus on helping your child improve their skills, build confidence, and develop valuable life lessons such as perseverance, resilience, and self-discipline. Celebrate their successes, no matter how small, and encourage them to continue striving for improvement.
Encouraging Proper Nutrition and Hydration
Proper nutrition and hydration are essential for junior golfers to perform their best on the course. Encourage your child to eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains to fuel their energy levels and support muscle recovery. Additionally, ensure that your child stays hydrated by drinking plenty of water before, during, and after their rounds of golf, especially in Singapore's hot and humid climate.
Emphasising Fun and Enjoyment
Above all, junior golfing should be about fun and enjoyment. Keep the focus on having a good time enjoying the learning process, and improving. Avoid putting too much pressure on your child to perform or achieve specific outcomes. Instead, emphasise the importance of effort, perseverance, and sportsmanship, and encourage your child to approach each round of golf with a positive attitude and a smile on their face.
Conclusion: Fostering Junior Golfing Success in Singapore
Fostering junior golfing success in Singapore requires a combination of the correct guidance, encouragement, and support from parents and coaches. By finding the correct junior golf lessons, providing the proper equipment, creating a supportive environment, nurturing a passion for the game, setting realistic expectations, encouraging adequate nutrition and hydration, and emphasising fun and enjoyment, parents and coaches can help young golfers develop their skills, build confidence, and cultivate a lifelong love for the game. With the right approach and mindset, junior golfers in Singapore can achieve success on and off the course.

The Comprehensive Guide to Golfklúbbar: Exploring the World of Golf Clubs
Golf, often regarded as a game of precision, patience, and strategy, owes much of its allure to the clubs used by players. Golfklúbbar, or golf clubs, are more than mere instruments; they are the tools that translate a golfer’s skill into action. In this extensive guide, we delve into the fascinating world of golf clubs, examining their types, history, and the science behind their design. Whether you are a seasoned golfer or a beginner, understanding golf clubs can significantly enhance your game.
The Evolution of Golf Clubs
Early Beginnings
The history of golf clubs dates back to the early 15th century in Scotland, where golf is believed to have originated. Initially, golf clubs were crafted from wood, with club heads made from hard woods like beech, holly, and pear. These early clubs were rudimentary compared to modern standards but laid the groundwork for the sport.
Technological Advancements
As the game evolved, so did the technology behind golf clubs. The 19th century saw significant innovations with the introduction of hickory shafts, which provided better durability and flexibility. The 20th century brought even more advancements, including the use of steel shafts and various alloys for club heads. Today, golf clubs are made using cutting-edge materials like titanium, carbon fiber, and advanced polymers, offering golfers unprecedented levels of precision and control.
Types of Golf Clubs
Woods
Woods are designed for long-distance shots and are typically used from the tee or fairway. Despite the name, modern woods are usually made from metal. They have large heads and long shafts, making them ideal for powerful swings.
Driver (1-Wood): The largest and longest club, designed for maximum distance.
Fairway Woods (3-Wood, 5-Wood, etc.): Slightly smaller than drivers, used for long shots from the fairway or rough.
Irons
Irons are versatile clubs used for a variety of shots, including approach shots to the green. They have smaller heads compared to woods and are numbered from 1 to 9, with the number indicating the loft of the club.
Long Irons (1-3): Low loft, used for long shots.
Mid Irons (4-6): Moderate loft, used for a range of distances.
Short Irons (7-9): High loft, used for precise, shorter shots.
Wedges
Wedges are a subset of irons with high lofts, designed for short approach shots, chips, and bunker play.
Pitching Wedge: Standard wedge for general use.
Sand Wedge: Designed specifically for bunker shots.
Lob Wedge: High loft for short, high shots.
Gap Wedge: Fills the gap between the pitching wedge and sand wedge.
Putters
Putters are specialized clubs used for rolling the ball into the hole on the green. They come in various shapes and sizes, each designed to suit different putting styles.
Blade Putters: Traditional design with a straight blade.
Mallet Putters: Larger, more forgiving design.
Peripheral Weighted Putters: Offer greater stability and control.
The Science of Golf Club Design
Material Innovations
Modern golf clubs are a testament to the advancements in material science. Titanium and carbon fiber are commonly used for their strength and light weight. These materials allow for larger club heads without additional weight, enhancing the golfer's ability to hit the ball farther and with more accuracy.
Aerodynamics
The design of a golf club’s head is crucial for reducing air resistance and maximizing speed. Advanced computational models are used to shape club heads in a way that minimizes drag and optimizes swing mechanics.
Weight Distribution
The distribution of weight within the club head, known as the center of gravity (CG), affects the trajectory and distance of the shot. Clubs with a low and back CG are easier to hit and provide higher launch angles, while clubs with a forward CG offer more control and lower ball flight.
Shaft Flexibility
The flexibility, or flex, of the shaft affects the swing speed and ball flight. Shafts come in different flex ratings: extra stiff (X), stiff (S), regular (R), senior (A), and ladies (L). Choosing the right shaft flex is essential for optimizing performance based on swing speed and style.
Choosing the Right Golf Clubs
Assessing Skill Level
Beginner golfers typically benefit from clubs with more forgiveness and larger sweet spots, such as cavity-back irons and perimeter-weighted drivers. Advanced golfers might prefer clubs that offer greater control and feedback, like forged irons and adjustable drivers.
Custom Fitting
Custom fitting involves tailoring golf clubs to the golfer’s specific swing characteristics. This can include adjusting the length, lie angle, shaft type, and grip size. Custom fitting ensures that each club complements the golfer’s physical attributes and swing style, leading to improved performance.
Budget Considerations
Golf clubs vary widely in price, with premium sets costing thousands of dollars. However, there are quality options available at all price points. It’s important to balance cost with the features and performance benefits that best suit your game.
Maintaining Your Golf Clubs
Regular Cleaning
Keeping golf clubs clean is essential for maintaining their performance. After each round, clean the club heads with a brush and warm, soapy water to remove dirt and grass. Dry them thoroughly to prevent rust, especially on metal shafts and heads.
Storage
Store golf clubs in a dry place, away from extreme temperatures. Use headcovers to protect the club heads from damage during transportation. Avoid leaving clubs in the trunk of a car for extended periods, as heat can weaken the materials and adhesives.
